Destiny 2 could be better. The players want it to be, and Bungie wants it to be. We believe that what we have now is an enjoyable game, but it's not perfect, and it's not drawing in the same kind of enthusiasm as this franchise once could. So how might that change?

Here it is folks, the episode where Crucible Radio airs their grievances, makes some suggestions, voices some of our own personal wants and wishes as players. An epic Bungie takedown, this episode is not. A helpful discussion on Destiny 2 and its future, it might be.

  • something game-changing about weapon archetypes that's been staring us in the face this whole time
  • how pacing, teamwork and counterplay made space for new experiences in the Crucible
  • also, what's the deal with High Caliber Rounds?

This week on Crucible Radio we're discussing the less glamorous side of practicing and improving at a video game - the part where everyone knows what to use, where to go, and what to do - and how we can get better from there. Also on this episode, we'll discuss how we compare weapons, and what we look for when it comes to stats and perks.

We're in that window of opportunity here, where we've just about acquired all the guns worth getting in the game - and now we can talk about them! This episode is all about the weapons that stick out to us. Be them sleepers, or popular but maybe used differently, these are all the guns you need to use, in case they're currently getting rusty in the vault.

Before we get to gun talk, Swain has been reborn - as a Sunbreaker! He even did a little Fallout-esque science with the subclass and has truly returned to form...

It needs no explanation - Destiny 2 has been revealed and the hype train is leaving the station. We don't know much about the PvP side of things (or much at all, really), but what we can discuss is how the major announcement of Destiny on PC could impact the competitive community.

Even though the surreal fact of the sequel is on everyone's minds, there's still plenty to talk about with 2.6. It seems like the patch that 2.5.0.2 was always meant to be has finally hit, and the Crucible might be in a pretty even place at the moment. What do you think?

Wow, finally - an episode description where I don't have to talk about how we can't wait for a patch. It's here, we've all played it a lot, and we've all got thoughts! This episode will cover first impressions, what made us happy, and what we believe were a few missteps. Regardless of opinions, it's a wonderful thing when the Crucible feels fresh and interesting!

Later on, you'll hear from the infamous FarCognitions who is here to spread the hype about DCS!

This past weekend, Crucible Radio hosted their first tournament! The Kell's Angels Classic was a sparrow race to end all sparrow races, and to also act as a test run for future tourneys - maybe Rumble next? On this episode, you'll from ScaRdrow, the racer who took it all home, as well as a couple of our team members who help keep things running behind the scenes. Of course, we're all desperately waiting for this patch - but there's always a little Destiny talk to be had.

Bungie has a few goals in mind for this patch, so this week we're going to revisit some of our philosophies for balance and adaption in preparation for what could be a very different meta.

Happy 2017! Welcome to the new year and may it be better than whatever 2016 was. To round up the year, Bones, Birds and Swain sit round the fire and reminisce on the past 12 months of Destiny - what changed, what we liked, and what we learned. Then, we set up a few goals for ourselves, and how we want to improve over the next year of Destiny.

First up is Birds, who dives deep into the history of Bungie and Destiny to discuss the truth about game development as a business and what it takes to make a game - and keep it alive. If you've ever been frustrated with this game, or wanted something out of that you haven't gotten yet, it's a must listen.

It's not like no one's been talking about fusion rifles for the past month. But after a solid amount of playtime, it's time to decide the best way to fusion. This week Birds, Bones and Swain bring on some friends known as the Battle Bros, Battlecrates & Battleboxes - two guys who have obsessed over fusions for the last few months and have the ultimate guide as a result.

Also on this week's episode: Tier 12 and how to get it, Bones returns from his hiatus, and probably some dumb bits.

This past week, things got hella spooky in the Tower and Trials of Osiris returned at long last. Now that the PvP community can once again battle it out in the most competitive game mode available, it was important for Crucible Radio to return to a few important topics that often come up on the weekends: loadouts, the mental game, and communication. With the new matchmaking system, Trials will be tough, and the intangibles will be more important than ever.

Joining Crucible Radio this week is @Clout94, who discusses how to be an aggressive or safe player, either dominating a map as a slayer or letting the kills come to you as a support player. Clout also mentions the benefits of playing other shooters. Changing pace with games can actually allow you to bring in new skills and perspectives when you do return to Destiny.

The Iron Banner is back and so are Swain, Birds and Bones with another episode. Starting with the important things, the guys pick out their favorite of the new emotes, and then get into the Iron Banner in Year 2. It seems like teamwork is an absolute must, and the competition has risen. As the meta slowly settles, Crucible Radio has been solidifying their loadouts - they seem to have a few guns in common but a couple wild cards as well. What are you using in IB?

Now that PvP events are returning and the true warriors are getting ready to fight, it seems only appropriate to talk to someone who knows everything there is to know about preparing yourself to compete on a mental level. Swain, Birds and Bones are back with more Crucible chat and discussion. As foreshadowed in last week's interview with Jon Weisnewski, Bungie announced that shot backage is being removed as a perk, which could have a serious impact on the meta. The guys discuss whether or not this will change the way shotties are used, or if rangefinder will simply fill the gap. And of course, they couldn't put it off any longer - Sunbreakers have been running rampant in the Crucible and everyone is talking about them. Are they OP, or do players need to learn how to counter?

Later, Crucible Radio is joined by YouTuber and Titanbro Leon Young, who's got thoughts on the class that everyone is up in arms about. He's got a favorite Titan subclass, but it's not the answer you'd expect. Leon also discusses some strategies for improvement and how he's approached the D2 meta.

Despite the overwhelming urge to talk about the future (which definitely does occur in this episode), this week is a perfect opportunity to talk about the everpresent issue of "tilt" and how it manifests itself in the Crucible. There's a multitude of ways to recognize tilt, control it, and turn it into something positive.

Later, recent community guest on Bungie's reveal stream @LacedUpLauren joins the show to discuss the Court of Oryx, how to keep Destiny fresh, and the best moments from Year 1.

We've only got a few more weeks until The Taken King, and the guys are just as excited as ever.  This means a thorough breakdown of the changes to new subclasses is a necessity. As year 1 comes to a close, Bones, Birds and Swain look back on what brought them to Destiny while they answer questions from Twitter, and the advanced skill of sliding is discussed in-depth.

Later, the guys are joined by MTashed and Fizzor, two highly skilled players who recap their experience at the Red Bull Rift Tournament, as well as what they're looking forward to when the expansion drops.

The dudes answer some questions from listeners, and as a special treat, this episode features loads of interview content. As the Taken King draws closer, the guys can’t help but discuss the future of the Crucible, including the 8 maps detailed by GameInformer this past week. But staying true to their mission, they hold off on speculation as best they can and really dig deep into what it means to “learn”, as well as the best ways of doing so when it comes to the Crucible. Though often intimidating, Rumble can be one of the best ways to improve, and Birds has some advice for diving in.

Later, KJHovey sits down in the virtual studio to provide some insight on sniping, one of the harder skills to master in Destiny. He also gives us a look at another unique history with gaming - you’ll be surprised to find out where he started.

How to Dominate Shores of Time from A/B (Set Ups with Fizzor and Crucible Radio)

In episode 8 of Crucible Radio, Fizzor stopped by to discuss set ups and positioning. It turns out, many if not most of the maps in Destiny have power positions, and those often exist where the “A” flag shows up in Control. When Fizzor said that setting up around A was your best bet in all scenarios, it sparked a discussion about Shores of Time.

In the current meta for Shores, it is believed that defending C and B from the original spawn, or those “boats” as Fizz refers to them, is the best way to go. It feels like a good sniper nest - you can see C, watch the tunnels, and occasionally peek around the back at B.

In reality, that location gives you a bad angle for defending B (rarely do those snipes across the ninja route work out) and leaves you wide open with too much to cover. From down below A, where the team spawn is, you have fewer angles to worry about and a good jump on any player that tries to approach you. In this video, Fizz demonstrates how to make your way towards A, start your set up, and what lanes you need to cover. Fizz includes an explanation on how to pull this off solo (as he’s doing) or how your teammates can help you. If you’re not convinced just reading this, he goes 27-3, which might help.

A/B Strategy on Shores of Time | Crucible Radio | Fizzor

As it turns out, setting up on the A spawn leaves you with only 3 tight lines to worry about, and allows for movement across a good portion of the map while avoiding being exposed in wide open spaces. Personally, I was shocked to see how easy it was to take down enemies who spawned on A flag - they funnel right out the door and have an awful angle on anyone waiting for them.
