Drawing from Austin Wasielewski's (guitars, vocals) familiarity of psychedelic/acid rock, rap, R&B, folk/Americana, the sound is brought together by Tred Litely (drums, vocals) pop-punk, funk, indie-rock, math rock and fusion pulls, while Ryan D. Lee (bass) is a master of all things 80s, 90s and present. Together their lyrics seek to address the turmoil we experience every day by virtue of living in a modern world, but specifically a modern world so torn up by connecting troves of people who still feel disconnected.

Meeting at the community based rehearsal space Music City in San Francisco, the trio immediately found a musical connection. Their upcoming EP which pays homage to the place that brought them together is out this Fall. With the help of their community, they are setting their sights on bringing their music and message to the world....and we're eager to hear more

Taken from their upcoming record, the band will have you head over heels after first listen. Until very recently, the different members of this ensemble cast were working separately, settling with projects only half-fulfilling the addiction that they all shared. It was only when their lives started overlapping did they realize they would eventually come together to handcraft a sonic, melodic miasma of songs spanning over two full length albums. At the heart of Frantic Romantic is a love for a 90’s culture that's been swept away with yesteryear. It's that unknown band you hear in a rundown back alley venue. It's that album you pick up at the record store and spin on the car ride home—uninterrupted. That’s the culture Frantic Romantic longs for and the community they breathe life back into.

Love Stallion, Aaron Hart invites you to take a ride on his rock 'n roll steed

Do your part to keep guitar driven rock ALIVE... join Loudini LIVE! Go to http://LouLombardiMusic.com/InnerCircle to find out how you can be a part of our LIVE online audience and get access to exclusive music and video!

Love Stallion storms the music scene with original glamorous hard rock, sure to get your heart racing and ears pounding. Power riffs, memorable hooks, and electric flash capture the nostalgia of years gone by, bringing a fresh punch of rock & roll back to the universe in proper style.

Love Stallion began as an experiment; a spur of the moment co-write of the song "Big Rock Radio" by Aaron Hart & Crayton Huntly (aka Rob McLemore) outside a concert hall in the fall of 2013. Inspired by the "big rock" sound of the 70s & 80s, rockstars David Lee Roth & Freddie Mercury, and bands like Van Halen, Kiss, and Def Leppard, the duo enlisted the help of industry pros Dr Scott Martin & Kate Emerich, "Aaron Hart w/ Crayton Huntly" played their first show May 1st, 2015 at The Walnut Room Denver to a small crowd of friends.

As the crowd grew, so did the flash & flare of the live show. With the addition of Aero X (aka Aero Marquez) joining on bass, the band became recognized for their high energy live performance, flamboyant wardrobes of sequins, spandex and leather, and their signature Sexy Disco Legs.

The first video single "Slow Release" was released in March of 2018. It stormed to #1 on the IndiMusicTV charts and reached #4 on the iTunes Canada rock charts! Love Stallion's 'Unforgettable Ride' was produced by Steve Avedis (Tony Bennett,*NSYNC) at Colorado Sound Studios and was released on June 2nd 2018.

Growing up in Eastern Ontario (South of Ottawa), Canada, Cory M. Coons has been passionate about music since his early teen years, and he began learning guitar and bass, which led him to crafting his own melodies and musical ideas, while still in High School. Shortly after, he would begin travelling and performing in a variety of cover bands throughout the mid-to-late 90's, in both Ontario and the Southeastern United States.

Now, Cory has just released a brand new melodic rock Cd/Album "The Long Road Home", in early 2018. It has been produced by Multi-Gold & Platinum veteran music producer, Ron Nevison, (Heart, Bad Company, Damn Yankees, Survivor, Styx, Night Ranger.) Additional tracking/overdubs, and driving force on guitar on the new record is guitarist/engineer Marc D. Muir.

Cory was nominated at the "Producer's Choice Honors", (formerly Los Angeles Music Awards), in the "Rock Artist Of The Year" category for 2015. He was the the 2014 recipient of the Producer's Choice Honor for "Studio Album Of The Year," for his Independent E.p "Share A Little Time". Additional nominations also included "Male Singer/Songwriter" and "Record Of The Year". Cory's influences are a collection of various genres like melodic rock and roots-rock, blended with hints of country-rock.

Cory is a respected freelance guitar instructor in the local St. Lawrence Seaway Valley and at Rock My House Music Centre in Kemptville, ON. Cory has opened and performed alongside such treasured national Canadian artists like April Wine, Kim Mitchell, Glass Tiger and David Wilcox.

Horsehead proves that rock 'n roll is stronger than open heart surgery

The band is currently sharing their enticing new lyric video for "The Misprint," which has us head over heels immediately. Taken from their upcoming record "Pageant Wave," out later this year, this is the first glimpse we have into the world of Horsehead for 2018.

Horsehead's Jon Brown of the group says of the track:

“My brother and I used to take trips together; drinking vacations if you will. One of those trips was the inspiration for the song. It’s not autobiographical per se (it’s quite embellished) but we all are searching for something and screwing up along the way.”

A little reminiscent of artists such as Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Rolling Stones, Neil Young and Jason Isbell, the group bring a unique and eclectic sound to the table that is very much their own. "The Misprint," dives in deep to the sound of the band with powerful instrumentation and honest lyricism that drives the track home.

A little bit Country, a little bit Rock n' Roll, the group takes the reigns and heads into glory on the new track....our ears are eager for the upcoming record in tow.

OVER A DECADE OF SPLITTING ATOMS, HORSEHEAD NOW SETS THEIR SITES ON ASSEMBLING THEM ALL OVER AGAIN. THIS TIME, THE LOW-END LAB COATS FILLED BY STEVE CHILES (TEST TUBES) AND RICKY TUBB (BEAKER FILLING), BUNSEN BURNER DUTIES FULFILLED BY KEVIN WADE INGE ALL WHILE JON BROWN SCRAWLS THE FORMULAS. MOST THINK TANKS CAN'T MAKE IT PAST 2 THEOREMS, YET HORSEHEAD IS PREPARING THEIR SIXTH DISPATCH. DANCE AND SING, BUT DON'T LET THE SQUIRRELS SEE YOU SMILE. WAVE, IT MAY BE LOVE.

My name is Bruce Grimm. People call me Grubb from an old high school nickname.

I'd like to mention my first band Arch Rival (Eastern Version) and that three songs on this CD are from them. 13,Daddy and Mr.Magic

The newest line up of MOS had some serious health and family problems and couldn't continue. DRUMMER almost died twice. Heart problems

I would rather not mention studio where music was recorded. It was only about the money to them and had no concern about what I actually wanted.

Studio where I recorded vocals was awesome really helpful and toward what I wanted.

James Lee Baker finding the balance between folk and Americana
22:17

Do your part to keep guitar driven rock ALIVE... join Loudini LIVE! Go to http://LouLombardiMusic.com/InnerCircle to find out how you can be a part of our LIVE online audience and get access to exclusive music and video!

A classically trained musician, James Lee Baker fuses influences from acoustic singer-songwriters like David Mead, Ellis Paul, John Gorka, Gregory Alan Isakov, Bob Dylan, and Slaid Cleaves. He embraces open tunings to create an unconventional but welcoming sound and timbre to his playing. Trained briefly by Richard Gilewitz, a renowned fingerstyle guitar player, James Lee’s fingerstyle guitar playing is rich and melodic, pulling listeners into memorable motifs and atmospheres.

In 2017, Baker released a Texas-inspired full-length project called “Home Again.” Harnessing his experience in technology, Baker recruited talented studio session musicians, accessing performers from Los Angeles, Canada, The United Kingdom, and Denver. “Home Again” is a Country-flavored Americana album, rich with instrumentation like dobro, lap steel, fiddle, and harmonica.

In March, he released an EP of Folk/Americana songs called The Canadian River. The single of the same title placed #23 on the FolkDJ radio charts in April of 2018, and the song “Two Cageless Birds” went on to be selected for the John O’Hara Songwriting Performance Grant.

James has played at several prominent venues including the Whiskey A Go Go in Los Angeles, The Fox Theater in Boulder, and Swallow Hill and The Walnut Room in Denver.

Gestures & Sounds is a one-stop shop for a great time. Their authentic
compositions are raw and evoke real feelings, mostly because they don’t know
how to be any other way. Live performances are a rollercoaster of up and higher.
After high school, best friends Erik, Brian and Jory left Wisconsin to pursue film
careers. Their cramped Los Angeles apartment spawned late-night muted jam
sessions that put them on a new course. With their sights set on starting a band,
they quickly scooped up Jeremy as their fourth best friend and drummer. And so
they began their love lives as Gestures & Sounds.

Warmth in sound and lyrics is a given with these guys. From cozy and swooning
to top-of-the-lungs raging. In tune with each other, the crowd, and anyone
wearing flannel at any given moment in the world, G&S are equal parts
melodically innovative and lyrically wrenching.

Born in Phoenix, AZ, a gemini, Cooper’s first love was lawn sprinklers. At the age of 6 he assembled his first above ground sprinkler system with pvc pipe, strong smelling waterproof glue, Toro© brand sprinklers and possibly a little help from his father. Changing light bulbs was also an early hobby. He was punished more than once for flicking bulbs within his reach, trying to burn them out. Happily by adolescence music had mostly replaced this destructive habit. Jeremiah Green’s drumming on early Modest Mouse records inspired him to get behind a kit. Being too scared to stand up on stage and read his poetry by itself inspired him to start songwriting. He played in Tucson, AZ based post punk band Overcast Off from 2009 -2012 while attending the University of Arizona. Then, to avoid a dead end job, he moved across the country to Somerville, MA where he learned how to make lattes and have 30 second conversations with no awkward pauses. Hosting a weekly music night at his cafe for 5 years made him a familiar face in the local music community. He released You Didn’t Know Me, a lyrically driven indie rock record, in 2016. A completely DIY local release, no effort was made to promote the record beyond friends and hometown fans. Rabid Underdogs will be his second full length record and it finds Cooper widening his ambitions. Recorded over a 2 year period of short sessions at the Soul Shop in Medford, MA, and produced by Elio DeLuca (Titus Andronicus), it was funded entirely by slinging coffee.

Nita Strauss, Steps boldly into her solo career after years as a Side Woman

Do your part to keep guitar driven rock ALIVE... join Loudini LIVE! Go to http://LouLombardiMusic.com/InnerCircle to find out how you can be a part of our LIVE online audience and get access to exclusive music and video!

Los Angeles born guitarist Nita Strauss has become a force to be reckoned with in the music world, dazzling audiences across the US, UK, Europe, South America, Asia, Australia and Africa. Most fans will recognize Nita as Alice Cooper’s touring guitarist of the past 4 years, but she has also played with R&B star Jermaine Jackson, early MTV darlings Femme Fatale, video game supergroup Critical Hit and popular tribute band The Iron Maidens. Her skill, exuberant stage presence and love for all things about her instrument have earned her a stellar reputation in the music industry and endorsements including Ibanez Guitars, Marshall Amplification, DiMarzio pickups, Monster Energy and more.

2018 has been a banner year for Nita. In January she was officially announced as the first ever female Ibanez signature artist with her own model, the Ibanez JIVA. She also released her signature pickups, the DiMarzio Pandemonium. April saw Nita playing WWE Superstar Shinsuke Nakamura’s entrance music at Wrestlemania in New Orleans in front of an audience of 78,000 fans and millions streaming worldwide, and in the same month she launched a wildly successful Kickstarter campaign for her debut solo record Controlled Chaos. The campaign reached its goal in two hours, doubled it by the end of the day, tripled the following day and ended up over 800% funded. Nita produced the record herself and did the majority of the engineering, as well as playing all the guitars and bass on the record. After the record was competed, Nita signed with Sumerian Records to release and distribute the album worldwide. After finishing out the Alice Cooper tour cycle, Nita will immediately hit the road supporting Controlled Chaos alongside modern guitar virtuoso Angel Vivaldi.

Nita has been featured on the covers of many worldwide print magazines and on dozens of albums, trailers, and soundtracks, including Heroes Of The Storm (Blizzard) and Grammy-nominated Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (Konami/ Platinum Games); and is the author of the Guitar World column “Like A Hurricane”. Nita was also the official in-house guitarist for the LA KISS, the arena football team owned by Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons of KISS. She is one of the most sought after clinicians in the industry and has done extensive clinic tours across multiple continents. Her consistent touring schedule has shown her to play in front of over a million audience members per year consistently for the past several years. Nita is also extremely passionate about health and fitness, and uses her wide social media reach to inspire and educate people about maintaining a healthy lifestyle while traveling on tour.

Nita’s debut solo album Controlled Chaos will be available worldwide November 16 through Sumerian Records.

Amie Penwell, Music is Cheaper than Therapy!
20:48

Do your part to keep guitar driven rock ALIVE... join Loudini LIVE! Go to http://LouLombardiMusic.com/InnerCircle to find out how you can be a part of our LIVE online audience and get access to exclusive music and video!

Amie Penwell music is alternative, piano pop, with enough soul to dip it's foot into alt. country and gospel, joining the likes of Ray LaMontagne, Annie Lennox, Melissa Etheridge, and Peter Gabriel.

I believe all of us are trying to better navigate and understand our roles, plights, masks, defenses, and reactions to a world in an increasingly, desperate need to experience more of ourselves in these confines, real or imagined. Giving voice to our own truths, our realities, our power, our fear of that power, and the paradox of the need to admit powerlessness before true change proceeds. I’ve spent the last few years working on a collection of songs that came out of conversations I had, and experiences I’ve shared, with women of diverse ethnic, economic and religious backgrounds. With the help of my collaborators, that collection has become my new record, Windows. It’s an intimate, firsthand look into the lives of nine women on nine different journeys. Each song is a portrait of individual and collective exploration through acceptance, power, will, humility, denial, willingness, faith, surrender, and freedom. The ultimate goal of this work is to stimulate conversations with one another, to help each other and the upcoming generations be more awake, objective, vocal, and free. To walk with one another through the sometimes brutal inventory of facing of ourselves, through the society we find ourselves in.

My main objective as an artist is to focus on what the moment has to teach me, to extract truth, the lesson from the beastly, the beautiful, and every ordinary passing in between. My experience has made clear to me that the more honest I am with myself, the more connected I can be with others. I believe there is no work worth sharing that won't at least try to be of service to another. With this in mind, when I began working on Windows, the songs were in charge the whole way through. They arrived one by one like premonitions pushing and pulling against each other. The first one pulled me out on a rainy night to catch Maia Sharp (Bonnie Raitt, Dixie Chicks, Art Garfunkel) live at a show in Berkeley CA. As soon as I heard Maia sing her song Underneath, I knew I wanted to write with her. I worked up the courage to send my song “Dogfight On The Moon” This led to my sending the first iPhone recording of “Window” about a successful executive woman in the middle of a meeting for a moment baring witness to the stark contrast of reality right outside the window. I remember standing in the middle of a playground watching 5-year-olds at work listening to the way she changed some phrasing at the end of “Window.” I knew it was special. Maia sent along a verse, chorus and melody for a title she’d been kicking around. It was "Noticing Place.” a song about a middle-aged woman realizing what she is allowing herself to become. I sent back “This Ain’t Happening To You,” an alt-country song about a woman in her late 30’s diagnosed with MS expressing how angry she is at everyone telling her what to do and how to feel when all she wants is to be pissed off. Lastly, we wrote “Angels In The Sand” about an older woman who has reached a place of seeing the spectrum of her experiences both joyful and at times horrific and how they have made up the mosaic of her life. It felt like an effortless songwriting tennis match—or like having a new pen pal. The remaining songs I wrote alone. To raise enough funds to begin, I set out to do a small crowdfunding campaign. After a first go of recording the record, I decided I needed to set them aside and approach the work more organically. Songs can sound perfect, but not feel right. I took another big gamble. I booked six days at Tiny Telephone Recording in San Francisco to record and mix. I will be forever grateful to John Vanderslice (founder and owner of TT) for building his version of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, for maintaining an affordable creative oasis for DIY musicians to work in the midst of one of the most expensive cities on the planet. Partnering up with Engineer, Multi-Instrumentalist and Arranger Adam Hirsch, (Ex Eye, Sam Amidon). Drummer Jason Slota, (The Mountain Goats, John Vanderslice) Bassist Matt Penwell, Guitarist Jeri Jones, (Blame Sally) Jeff Oster (Will Ackerman, Deepak Chopra) on Trumpet and Flugel Horn, Pianist Adam Rossi (Luce, Brad Brooks), Cellist Marissa Dietze, and myself on piano, Rhodes, pedal organ, vocals. Over four days, we recorded nine songs on analog tape, leaving the last two to mix. I later re-recorded my song “Mercy” about a young woman who has had faith but lost it, with producer Adam Rossi for Notes4Hope, a breast cancer benefit compilation and decided to add it to the record. Finishing up one of the tracks “Unstoppable” with my long-time collaborator, Drew Pearce, and engineer, producer and multi-instrumentalist, Gawain Matthews (guitar, organ, bass) about woman willing to stand in her full unedited strength, calling on other women to unite in mutual respect, to stand together in the face of everything. The song immediately caught the ear of Director Windy Borman, making it the credit song for her film Mary Janes The Women Of Weed. Lastly, I called on Jim Greer (Foster The People, Yoko Ono) to mix Unstoppable and Window, and master the record. I was raised in Massachusetts by an Irish/Italian family the youngest of four siblings, all avid music lovers. My upbringing was full of religion, poverty, love and the savior of stereos blasting the likes of The Police, U2, Van Halen, Rush, Journey, Prince, Pavarotti, Kris Kristofferson, and Fleetwood Mac, among many others. My core influences are Peter Gabriel, Radiohead, and Prince. My underground hit single, “Mercy,” was featured in the award-winning 2012 documentary, The Eyes of Thailand, which was narrated by Ashley Judd. In 2013, my EP Under City Lights was featured on Season 2 of Web series “Bloomers” and The Ask BonBon Show. In 2015, I was a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Contest (ISC) in the Adult Album Alternative category for my song “Dogfight On The Moon”. In 2016, my song “Somewhere The Sky Is Blue” with Grammy Award-winning Producer Ricky Kej, in the Dominica Scorsese film Almost Paris.

Robert Berry opens up about his friendship with the late Keith Emerson

Robert Berry has managed to survive in the treacherous minefield that is the music business and flourished as a performer, songwriter and producer. It seems he's done it all. While he may be best known as the vocalist/bass player in the ELP spinoff, 3, with Keith Emerson and Carl Palmer, Berry impressive list of credits include a stint fronting Ambrosia, and long running affiliations with Alliance, December People, and the Greg Kihn Band.

Berry has released 5 solo albums, contributed to a number of high-profile tribute albums and has an impressive track record in the studio.

He grew up in a musical family in what would become Northern California’s Silicon Valley. It didn’t take long before he appropriated a Vox Continental organ from his father’s music store. By the time he was a freshman in high school, his group had released a single that went on to become a regional favorite. Although he denies it, according to his school mates, Berry was known as his school’s first full-fledged rock star. His bands became solid fixtures on the Bay Area college and club circuit, where they worked constantly. It was during this period that his interest in multi-track recording blossomed. Legend has it, Berry somehow finagled the very first Teac four-track recorder to arrive in the valley. It wasn’t long before he had written and recorded an experimental twenty-two song ‘rock opera’. As his quest for knowledge grew he managed to snag a part-time position as ‘assistant everything’ person at a busy San Jose recording studio. By the time he was a senior in high school he had acquired a reputation as a solid performer and in-demand studio musician.

After graduation, Berry entered San Jose State University as a music major and again carefully balanced his academic and professional interests. It was at this time that a booking agent devised a plan to create a local ‘super group’ by recruiting members from several recently disbanded outfits. The band that resulted was known as Hush.

From the beginning, as main songwriter and chief strategist, Berry was the guiding force in the group. It didn’t take long before he snuck his new band into the studio and onto tape. Hush became popular up and down the west coast. Their independently released single garnered significant air play on Bay Area FM stations. They were included in several radio stations produced compilation discs. They won numerous radio competitions, one of which gave them the distinction as ‘Northern California’s Best Unsigned Band’. While they didn’t take that label seriously, the notion did prompt the release of their first complete album. That self-titled album ultimately landed them a contract with a major label, a across country tour, and even a minor hit single in Japan. Then suddenly their record company folded.

After returning from the tour, Berry built and opened Soundtek Studios, his own recording facility. He began writing new tunes and mapped out plans for Hush’s next album. A cut from the forth coming album, Gotta Get Back to You, won another radio station contest and became one of the station’s most requested cuts. Berry and band wasted no time and released their self-produced Hot Tonight album on their own imprint. That album went on to win the coveted BAM Magazine/Bay Area Music Archives’ “Bammie” Award for the year’s Best Independent Album of the year.

Berry continued to write and recorded Back To Back, his first solo album. With a collection of songs that were stylistically different from the Hush material, Berry stretched out from his role as band member, this time singing and playing all the parts himself. Included here were nine new original songs and powerful covers of Lennon and McCartney and Eddie Cochran. Back To Back shows Berry’s writing, playing, and producing skills reaching new levels of sophistication. The important music trade magazines, Cashbox, Record World, and Billboard, each gave the album high praise and “Pick of the Week” recognition. The influential Bay Area radio station KOME, announced they would be adding “Life the Game” to their regular rotation. The album landed on the desk of the legendary John Kalodner from Geffen Records. Kalodner soon set up live showcase performances in Los Angeles and San Francisco. A couple of interesting scenarios resulted from those showcases. One with Sammy Hagar’s recently orphaned band, and another with legendry British drummer, Carl Palmer.

Both scenarios ultimately worked out as Berry formed long term relationships with Hagar’s drummer David Lauser and (now Boston) guitarist Gary Pihl in the band Alliance and would eventually embark on an exciting new project with Palmer. On the strength of Back To Back and continued interest from Geffen, Berry moved to the UK where he found himself working with Yes guitarist Steve Howe in his new band, GTR. He also received a fortuitous invite to dine with Keith Emerson at the Savoy in London. It seems Palmer and Emerson were imagining a new project and they invited Robert Berry to join. Together the new band simply known as 3 would purposefully step away from expectations, aiming instead to break new ground. The union resulted in album ‘To The Power of Three’ on Geffen Records, a supporting tour and eventually the release of several live 3 concert recordings.

Upon returning from the 3 tour, Berry and Hagar band alums, along with former Night Ranger, Gamma, Montrose keyboard player, Alan ‘Fitz’ Fitzgerald got busy and formed Alliance as an ongoing project. The band has released 4 well received CDs. With his stature elevated by numerous high-profile projects, Berry found his recording studio busy with a long list of notable clients from around the world. At the same time, he was being offered numerous opportunities to perform with prominent recording artists. He signed on for the daunting task of trying to fill in for David Pack during a stint fronting Ambrosia. As a multi-instrumentalist, he has occasionally performed with The Tubes when they need a hand. He has established himself as long-time bass player for the Greg Kihn Band and has developed a strong songwriting partnership with Kihn.

2010 marked the live concert debut of the December People - Classic Rock Christmas. Berry developed a concept band that performs around the country during the Holiday season. The band includes friends from renowned classic rock acts such as Boston, The Tubes, Sammy Hagar, Y&T, Greg Kihn Band and occasional special guests, performing classic rock versions of popular Christmas songs. The project is designed to make holiday music hip and relevant for today's listeners and as a way to raise funds, gather food and clothing donations through Community Food Bank donations. December People have released 5 albums of classic Christmas songs recorded in the imagined style of great classic rock bands.

2016 was a big year for Robert Berry as he met with pal Keith Emerson in Los Angeles to discuss a 30th anniversary release of the long awaited follow up to the debut 3 album. If that wasn’t enough, he co-wrote 11 all new songs, produced and played Rekihndled, the Greg Kihn Band's first studio album in over 20 years.

The year 2017 was noteworthy for some major efforts. Early in the years, Berry, on bass and lead vocals joined with Terry Brock (GIANT, STRANGEWAYS) on lead vocals, Gary Pihl (BOSTON, SAMMY HAGAR, ALLIANCE) on guitar, and Matt Starr (ACE FREHLEY, MR. BIG) on drums, to form ALL 41. They release the band's debut album, "World's Best Hope". Simultaneously, he mounted a dedicated effort to complete his collaboration with Keith Emerson on the long awaited 3 follow up. That album, which took shape in 2016, was nearly shattered with the news of Keith Emerson tragic death. Ultimately and as a tribute to the friendship of Emerson and Berry, it somewhat painfully got back on track and is set for a summer of 2018 release date as 3.2 – The Rules Have Changed on Frontiers Music SRL

What happens when you get dumped hard? You start The Hate Club
27:15

Do your part to keep guitar driven rock ALIVE... join Loudini LIVE! Go to www.LouLombardiMusic.com/InnerCircle to find out how you can be a part of our LIVE online audience and get access to exclusive music and video!

“The Hate Club is a place for outcasts to call home, for people to punch in the face the messed up world we live in.” This is how The Hate Club’s (THC) leader and sole member, Alex Poe, describes the mission for his music and his ‘band' overall. Poe has set out to achieve this goal through an amalgamation of the driving bass heavy practices of EDM and the spite and swagger of punk rock, clearly heard through his vocal quality and lyricism.

Growing up in an oppressive Ukrainian household, Poe eventually fled to Los Angeles where he became enamored with the electronic music scene. In 2017 THC released its debut EP, Space Born, made major waves in the underground electronic music scene, becoming a cult favorite in the US primary musical hot spots, New York and LA. Now, with the release of their second EP, Misfits, THC furthers the dark yet charming narrative created by Space Born.

Check out Misfits Here

The music in Misfits explodes with a type of impulsive emotionality created by a thick, and often chaotic, bed of sound, perfectly supporting Poe’s entrancing vocals. Poe explains “This EP glorifies inappropriate behavior; it looks at your past with disgust and focuses on your ego.” Of the 5 songs on the Misfits EP some standout tracks include “Under My Feet,” “One Mile Away,” and “Little By Little.” Opening the EP and setting the tone powerfully with the industrial pop sound in “Under My Feet.”

While favorably compared to some Punk and EDM greats like Skrillix, Cage the Elephant, Missio, or The White Stripes, THC is truly in a class all its own. Keeping in the spirit of Punk rock, Poe is a dedicated DIY artist who not only writes all of his music but also tracks all parts, as well as mixing and mastering his songs by himself to prepare for performance with the help of his Ableton Push. This approach has allowed him to achieve the level of excitement, and overall sound, in performance comparable to a full-band. Poe states, “I want to reinvent the way artists perform now. I think there’s so much room to explore in the electronic world, in terms of performance.”

Following the tragic death of her musical soulmate, Sarah Sharp finds the strength to make music again

When singer-songwriter Sarah Sharp’s life began to unhinge after the passing of a beloved artistic ally, instead of resisting profound foundational shifts, she bravely surrendered to the monumental changes and experienced a spiritual awakening. To commemorate this new era of fertile self-growth and vibrant creativity, she’s releasing a series of four EPs with each release to be issued in three-month increments. Aptly, she calls the opening salvo in this program, Wake. Up until now, the award-winning songwriter and jazz singer has been best known for embodying 30s and 40s jazz-cool with the acclaimed combo the Jitterbug Vipers. These solo EPs, however, will piece together to present the full breadth of Sarah’s artistry. “With every step of this transition, I’ve been reminded to keep going and listen to my heart and my instincts, and to not make decisions out of fear,” the Austin, Texas-based artist reveals. As a solo artist, and a former member of the Jitterbug Vipers, Sarah has topped the Austin music award polls as Best Female Vocalist, Best Producer, Best Songwriter, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Band of the Year, and Best Jazz Band. She has been featured on NPR’s “Song Travels with Michael Feinstein” where Feinstein suggested some of her original songs were destined to become standards. Recently, Paste Magazine premiered the mesmerizing single “You Don’t Dare” from the Wake EP. Previously, Sarah explored the expanse of her talents writing somewhat anonymously in a variety of contexts and styles. Sarah’s songs have been featured worldwide in ad campaigns for Chanel, Dell, Kia, ABC’s Revenge, E.L.F. cosmetics, among others, and on TV, including hit shows The Good Wife, Cable Girls, Grandfathered and more. After the passing of the Jitterbug Viper’s sage leader, guitarist Slim Richey, Sarah boldly didn’t try to recapture the smoky magic of the group. Instead, she dove into creating her first solo offering in a decade. Opening herself up artistically, she began to explore writing across genres in a solo context, and things began to almost poetically fall in place. Not only did she have an outlet for her eclectic palette, it was as if the universe was screaming for her to share it. She won a posh songwriting grant after a grueling 10-month decision process. The money received will pay for her marketing and publicity campaign, ensuring this creatively expansive outpouring receives the attention it deserves.

Art is a byproduct of life, and the vibrant and diverse music on Sarah’s four EPs reflect a powerful shift in her personal landscape. Slim’s passing set off a series of painfully complex events and inner turmoil that opened Sarah up to a specific rebirth called a Kundalini Awakening which completely changed the way she organized her reality. These EPs are the songs of redemption, renewal, and reclamation in the face of profound change in Sarah’s life. Each EP offers access to a distinct Sarah Sharp artistic sphere. Her first release, Wake, is thoughtfully organized around an intimate singer-songwriter aesthetic that’s both earthy and elegant. The six-song collection is beautifully fragile, replete with supple and sensitive instrumental interplay that frames Sarah’s finely crafted tales of heartache and salvation. On the dreamy “You Don’t Dare,” with woozy soulful vocals and watery guitars, Sarah reveals a tale of how disaster can lead to liberation. Beneath the ethereal vocals and slow playful piano motifs on “Heart Weigh,” Sarah sings from the other side of spiritual torment, from a vantage point of redemption and fresh, overwhelming soul-connecting love. Sarah’s second EP showcases her pop sensibilities and pairs slow-burn hooks with raw emotionality. The track “Easy” sparks afire from a thick and woody upright bassline and smolders into a sage Adam and Eve-themed treatise on hard fought knowledge. In this lush and refined setting, Sarah explores a majestically full-sound with honeyed harmony vocals, piano, and a lilting, almost bossa nova, groove. Sarah’s graceful sensuality imbues her velvety vocal phrasing on “What To With This Love,” and here she seduces with vulnerability. The delicate track “Kidding” is a sweet farewell to lost love. Sarah’s third EP will be a jazz offering, featuring two jazz chestnuts, two originals, and two unique covers reimagined with a little Jitterbug Viper panache. The character of her final EP is yet to be determined. The EPs were recorded in Austin and Brooklyn, and capture the electric musicality surrounding each locale. Select marquee musicians on the tracks include Phoebe Hunt, and Sarah’s current musical soulmate, guitarist Mitch Watkins (Lyle Lovett, Leonard Cohen, Jerry Jeff Walker, Joe Ely, K.T. Oslin, Jennifer Warnes, Abra Moore and Bob Schneider). Up next, Sarah will continue her Tuesday residency at the venerated venue the Elephant Room in Austin, and she will commemorate this EP series with a release event. Reflecting on her path to soulful salvation in the wake of loss and inner tumult, she says: “I’m stepping into my full adult self with a whole new path that I didn’t know was possible a couple of years ago. I’m ready to be fully present and make the most out of now.”

Closing in on 70, the prince of darkness himself told the Philadelphia Inquirer this week that he's the new Bing Crosby. Citing a letter from a female fan in her seventies who wrote his majesty a letter of appreciation saying how much she enjoys his live shows.

While Ozzy may be scaling back a bit as evidenced by the title of his latest tour, (The No More Tours Tour) he has no plans to quit. He says that this is his passion but he also wants to spend more time with his grand children.

He also talked a bit about not being too happy with his time with Black Sabbath. This doesn't really come as much of a surprise. After all, they did fire him all those years ago, but more than that Ozzy is just used to being the boss and having his own way and there's nothing wrong with that one bit! We here at The Loudini Rock and Roll Circus hope that he keeps touring and putting out great Ozzy music for a long time.

Believe it or not critics do get it wrong...sometimes HORRIBLY wrong. Did you know that when Zeppelin released their debut album one critic commented "They're like Cream... only worse!"?

Other critic misfires include, AC/DC's High Voltage, The Stones' Exile On Main Street, The Jimi Hendrix Experience's "Are You Experienced", Nirvana's "Nevermind" and many more.

This week on The Loudini Hard Rock and Metal Circus, the team puts together their top ten examples of critic's arrogance and stupidity. Along the way we will also address the function of the music critic and what music criticism is SUPPOSED to be.

Are there any albums that you love that the critics hated? We would love to hear about them even if it's St. Anger. We won't judge. Tell us what you love about them. Featured Loudini Artists: Sova Jack Berry

Many times the key to a great guitar riff is doing something as simple as retuning the guitar. Alternate tunings are used by many classic guitarists from Robert Johnson to The Edge. If you have ever listened to Zeppelin's "Going to California", Pearl Jam's "Daughter", George Thorogoode's "Bad To The Bone" or the Stones' "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" and wondered... "How'd they come up with that?" Then you definitely want check out this week's Bluesy Tuesday Podcast.

The Story of Icky Thump and the killer comedy sketch, Wicked Riff Wednesday Ep 8
08:03

Do your part to keep guitar driven rock ALIVE... join Loudini LIVE! Go to http://LouLombardiMusic.com/InnerCircle to find out how you can be a part of our LIVE online audience and get access to exclusive music and video!
"Icky Thump" was the White Stripes highest charting UK single and chartted well around the rest of the planet as well. It also won the band a Grammy Award in 2008 for best rock performance by a duo or group.

The name of the song is a play on the British expression, "Ecky Thump" which loosely means, "What the heck!" Jack White changed it from "ecky" to "icky" thinking that the former would just confuse American teenage audiences. While the lyrics are a criticism of the treatment of immigrants in the U.S., the origin of the title is much more interesting.

The title was inspired by an episode of a British sketch comedy show called "The Goodies". The episode in question "Kung fu Kapers" also known as "Ecky-Thump" caused one fan to laugh for 25 minutes non-stop, resulting in a massive heart attack and death.

The song, (not the sketch) is one of the greatest riff's of the early 2000s and that's why it's this week's Wicked Riff!

The Black Crowes seem to be on an idefinite hiatus. In the mean time we will just have to content ourselves with The Magpie Salute, a hard rocking blues based outfit that features Black Crowes alumni Rich Robinson, Mark Ford and bassist Sven Pipien, as well as keyboardist Matt Slocum, drummer Joe Magistro, and vocalists Adrien Reju and Katrine Ottosen from Robinson's solo band. John Hogg handles lead vocal duties with passion and soul.

Formed in 2016, their first album (released a year later) was a live recording which featured a mix of Rich Robinson and Mark Ford songs from their solo work with one offical Magpie track, "Omission".

On August 10th of this year, they released their first studio album, "High Water I". The record shows that Robinson, Ford and company can still rock with the best of them. If you're a Black Crowes fan, you will want to give this record a try.

On this week's Bluesy Tuesday we discuss the first single, "Omission"

I know what you are thinking... Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, have both denied that Led Zeppelin was heavy metal. When you mention metal in the same sentence as Zeppelin in front of Page or Plant they get this look on their faces like you just cut the rudest fart ever.

Riddle me this; If it's true that Led Zeppelin in not metal, then why is it that SO many metal bands, especially those from the 1980's not only site them as a major influence but out right were trying to BE Led Zeppelin.

So much has happened in music since Zeppelin retired in 1980. Heavy metal grew into multiple sub-genres but when most people talk about the beginings of metal there are usually 3 bands Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin.

Zeppelin does seem like the odd man here. They are the most "hippie" of the three and the most overtly blues based of the three, yet they definitely had their metal moments. As much as they sang about squeezing the lemon they also sang about vikings and wizards...which is very metal and while they always seemed to keep one foot in the blues, they laid serious metal ground work with tracks like Achillies Last Stand and The Immigrant Song.

This week on The Loudini Hard Rock and Metal Circus we uncover Zeppelin's most metal moments. Let us know if we missed any... what are your favorite Zeppelin metal moments?

Voted number 9 in a Rolling Stone readers poll of the best Led Zeppelin songs, "Ten Years Gone" is definitely one of the band's most epic tracks from it's most epic album, Physical Graffitti. Clocking in at 6 minutes and 55 seconds and comprised of 14 layered guitar tracks, the song was a beast for the band to play live. It required bass player and multi-instrumentalist John Paul Jones to play a 3 necked guitar while covering the bass parts with bass pedals.

Jimmy Page had written the different sections of the song and put it together thinking that it would be an instrumental but Robert Plant came up thoughtful lyrics about a relationship that ended before Led Zeppelin began

From SongFacts.com:

Robert Plant wrote the lyrics about a girlfriend who made him choose between her and his music 10 years earlier. She got the boot. In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine (March 13, 1975) the interviewer, Cameron Crowe, asked Robert Plant what gambles he had taken. Plant replied: "Let me tell you a little story behind the song 'Ten Years Gone' on our new album. I was working my ass off before joining Zeppelin. A lady I really dearly loved said, 'Right. It's me or your fans.' Not that I had fans, but I said, 'I can't stop, I've got to keep going.' She's quite content these days, I imagine. She's got a washing machine that works by itself and a little sports-car. We wouldn't have anything to say anymore. I could probably relate to her, but she couldn't relate to me. I'd be smiling too much. Ten years gone, I'm afraid. Anyway, there's a gamble for you."

Since it was such a chore to perform live the band dropped it from it's set list in 1977 but revisited it for the Knebworth Festival in 1979.

On this week's Wicked Riff Wednesday we pay homage to one of Led Zeppelin's most amazing compositions and fan favorite "Ten Years Gone".

Album covers are as iconic as the great artists who's music they represent. In the history of rock the visual aspect has always been very important and depending on the era and genre, the visual has been even more important than the music. But that's a subject for another podcast.

A great album cover will make you feel like you are taking home your very own piece of art. In the case of cover art from 70's era Molly Hatchet, and Yes, the artwork could completely stand alone. Some covers are very simple like The Beatles "White Album" and Metallica's "Black Album". They leave a lot to the imagination and get out of the way and let the music speak. There are sexy album covers, political album covers, funny album covers and even interactive album covers. Sticky Fingers, is an interactive album cover, with a working zipper!

Some covers are so iconic that even when people don't know the artist or the music they know the cover. The Clash's London Calling and Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon are examples of cover art that even kids recognize whether or not they know the music.

This week on the Loudini Hard Rock and Metal Circus, Lou and Keith discuss the greatest album covers of all time and do their best to pick the top ten. Featured Loudini Artists:

Wicked Riff Wednesday Episode 6: Back in Black and why AC/DC ISN'T Heavy Metal

There is something infectious about AC/DC's music. Songs like You Shook Me All Night Long, Girl's Got Rhythm, T-N-T and Back in Black, make the young and the old alike want to get up and rock out. Their music is heavy enough to be confused with heavy metal but fun enough that wedding bands cover it.

While the guitars, bass, drums and vocals (and some lyrics too) are definitely heavy enough to be metal, AC/DC's swaggering rhythm's, bluesy guitar playing and penchant for "American thighs" puts them firmly in the hard rock realm. Sorry metal heads. I know that you love AC/DC too. It's nothing to be ashamed of.

In many ways AC/DC like their predecessors Black Sabbath, are a bit of a conundrum in the heavy rock world. They are embraced by music fans with allegiances too various styles, including punk and classic rock but claim no official affiliation. They simply play the music that comes naturally to them.

In 1981 they changed the rock world when they released Back in Black. It became an almost instant classic. Every track is great, and you can still hear most of them today on any classic rock station.

The title track is an homage to their fallen front man Bon Scott and is as powerful today as it was almost when it was released nearly 40 years ago!

In this week's episode of Bluesy Tuesday we discuss and disect Led Zeppelin's Black Dog.

The main riff was composed by Led Zeppelin Bassist John Paul Jones and is organized around a call and response pattern. The song begins with Robert Plant singing accapella followed by the band "answering" him with Jones' riff. The song got it's name from a black labradore retreiver that the band found wandering around their Headley Grange studio.

The main riff is derived directly out of the blues scale and is often mistakenly thought to be "polyrhythmic". The confusion comes in because the way that Jones phrases the riff. Instead of hard resolutions on the predicatable downbeat, Jones creates a looping feel with the phrases that circle back on themselves in less predictable places giving Black Dog it's signature feel.

Surprisingly, Black Dog wasn't always a staple of Zepplen's live show. They played it off and on through out the 1970's. By contrast, it's become a signature song of Robert Plant's solo bands and he has performed many wildly different versions of the classic over the years, including a blue grass flavored version with country singer Alison Krauss.

God Hates Unicorns formed in 2015..or maybe 2014. I don't remember.I got an invite from Josh to go see their show. I knew of Josh from his earlier bands Skull Death Gut Corpse and Debutante. Josh and I traded shows with each other during the Pittsburgh music scene golden age (the early 2000's when everyone was on Myspace.com the greatest tool for musicians to ever have existed).
I remember seeing their very first "performance" at the Squirrel Hill Sports bar. It was a bit cold that night maybe early Spring or late Fall. The band was a classic 3 piece. By classic 3 piece band I mean a singer, a bass player, and some one on stage only to press play on a drum machine. The tracks were created on Josh's familiar Roland 505 (the same one he used to make tracks for Debutante). The tracks sounded pretty good from where I was sitting. If you like depressing dark wave dance tracks then what's not to love here? The songs had enough thumping kick drums and melodic keyboard sounds to pass most peoples standards for a song on there own. Unfortunately, something about the sound that night was off to the band as Joshua operating as the lead singer wondered on and off the stage seeming to try to find an area of the room where he could hear the track properly. Leaving the rest of the band that remained on stage looking confused and frightened as Josh careened through the crowd and then back to the stage again screaming into a bullhorn; finally he stopped on the stage for the last time and laid down in defeat. The bands first outing did not appear to be going well. They played about 3 songs from what I recall and none of them correctly based on the displeased expressions from the band members.

After the show I jokingly asked Josh if he still wanted me to join the band (he asked a few months earlier) and he said yes. He said they could use a guitar player. I told him I didn't currently own an electric guitar only an acoustic-electric. Then he said I could use the electric guitar that a previous musician left in his basement. I asked him what kind of guitar it was and he said it was a Fender Stratcaster. That was enough to get me into the idea of joining a band even though I didn't really feel like joining a band at the time. That and Josh made it sound like we would only play paying gigs and get fucking rich! BABY!
Anyway I'm still in the band today and I'm being held against my will, come save me!

Getting a job as a lawyer, leads to songwriting and music press accolades for Paulo Franco

Paulo Franco is a Richmond, Virginia based singer/ songwriter. In terms of recording, it may seem that Franco has come to the game later in life than some, but his musical journey has been a lifelong story. Born to Colombian immigrants and raised in Washington D.C., Paulo embraces his heritage as a first generation American and his songs and style reflect that. As a child, his father turned him on to the country music of the United States via the Johnny Cash Variety show and on his own he discovered a love for rock n roll through the Stones and the Beatles. At the age of nine, he picked up a classical guitar and a musician was born. After years of playing in various cover bands and honing his chops, Franco began writing his own material in earnest in 2010.

Paulo's songs are steeped in storytelling, often drawing from his own life and those around him. The sound is a seamless blend of the myriad of influences that have shaped both his everyday life and his musical tastes. Listeners will find glimpses of Robert Earl Keen's storytelling, John Prine's wit, The Stones' rock n roll heart, and the fluidity of The Grateful Dead often times infused with the rhythms of traditional Latin and Colombian music. He has recently included original Spanish songs into his songwriting, bringing a depth and a love of two cultures seldom seen during the same show or album. Paulo switches his voice from country twang, to rock anthem, to Spanish troubadour. His vocals are so authentically Spanish that it’s easy to forget you just heard him effortlessly sing a country tune in English.

In 2012, Paulo released his debut record, By The Light Of A Paper Moon regionally and began playing more and more shows around the Richmond area as well as other markets across the country. In the last few years he has the honor of sharing the stage with the likes of Robert Earl Keen, Eli Young Band, Chris Knight, Rhett Miller (Old 97s), Walter Salas Humara (The Silos), Dan Baird and Homemade Sin, Adam Carroll, Cris Jacobs, Cory Branan and many others. 2016 saw the release of Franco's latest work, The Last Card, an album No Depression calls “a phenomenal sophomore record.” No Depression's Emily Hinde listed The Last Card at No. 2 of the year's best, behind only Avett Brothers. Paste Magazine hails Franco's effort as possibly the most sincere album of the year. The Last Card, produced by Bob Rupe (The Silos, Cracker, Gutterball and Sparklehorse) and featuring a virtual who's who of Richmond musicians, shows that Paulo wears his heart on his sleeve musically and can hang with any songwriter working today.

Paulo closed out 2017 with a Tour of Colombia that included stops in Medellín, Cali, Roldanillo, Cartagena and Santa Marta.

In 2018 Paulo plans to release two brand new songs on July 14, Richmond's Just Fine and El Rey y Su Cadillac. The Freightliners plan on heading back to the studio soon to record a brand new record.

Rockin' Rant #2: Peter Frampton wants to punish you for streaming his songs
10:48

This week 70's icon Peter Frampton Tweeted that he had over 55 million downloads of his song "Baby I Love Your Way" for which he only received $1700. The tweet was part of a series of tweet where he told about testifiying to congress on the behalf of ASCAP. You can read it for yourself here:https://twitter.com/peterframpton/status/1025584924609400832 .

These older artists cannot seem to come to terms with the fact that the world has moved on. We no longer have the same music industry that we did in the 70's, 80's and 90's where a handful of acts dominated the industry because radio and MTV were really the only places to get heard by a significant number of people. The industry today is much more friendly to the indie artist. For a fraction of the money that it would take to produce and promote a band in the 80's, indie acts can produce totally professional sounding recordings and promote themselves by themselves or with the help of some very affordable outsource partners.

The industry is also much more friendly to the music fan. Heard about a great band from a friend or magzine? Just do a YouTube search and you can check them out immediately. Instead of buying albums of filler to get one or two good songs you can buy the good tracks on iTunes or listen on Spotify. For true music fans, this is nothing short of a miracle.

So... recorded music, for the most part is now free. That's the price of all of the democatization and simplication of producing and listening to music. That sucks for artists like Peter Frampton who enjoyed big royalty checks but it does not mean that people do not value music, nor does it mean that there isn't a lot of money to be made in the new music industry. There have been some great books and articles written on this subject. For a primer I would recommend "Free" by Chris Anderson. you can check that out here: https://www.amazon.com/Free-Future-Radical-Chris-Anderson/dp/1401322905

This democatization is not the end of recorded music, just like radio was not the end of live concerts and sound recording was not the end of sheet music; although many people in the industry thought that it was! These older artists want things to go back to the way that they used to be... "Let's make music great again!" is their motto. Does that sound familiar?

Sorry Peter, but this is the new music industry. It's the wild wild west and this new generation has set out to tame it in their own way. There is more music than ever in EVERY genre for fans to enjoy and it's easier for bands to connect with fans who love what they do. Wether you are a fan or an artist, this is the greatest time in history for music and potentially very profitable for those with vision.

In 1991 Soundgarden released their 3rd studio album, Badmotorfinger. As the saying goes, "third time's a charm!" BMF continued the band's hard rock/metal rooted sound but with more mature songwriting. The songs "Outshined" and "Rusty Cage" were MTV hits and pushed Soundgarden into the mainstream.

With it's groove doom tuned down riff, locked in rhythm section, humungous guitars, imagination bending lyrics and legendary vocal performance, "Outshined" is one of grunge's most important moments and to put it bluntly, grunge's greatest riff... period.

In this episode we uncover what makes this riff so magical and a get a peek at it's inception. So grab your favorite flannel shirt and crank this one up

Pop Quiz Hot Shot: What's better than a band that plays great guitar driven rock?

Answer: A band that plays great guitar driven rock with TWO guitarists!

Excess has been a characteristic of rock and roll since it's inception. Louder, bigger, faster, harder and of course more have been the cries of rock's biggest fans. While legendary acts like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and Van Halen feature one hot guitar player, some bands just want to take it up a notch.

What do you do when you are already on ten? How do you get that "push over the cliff?" You add another guitar player of course!

The two guitar sound has been a staple of rock and roll since the Beatles, but put to much better use by bands like the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, and of course AC/DC. This week on The Loudini Hard Rock & Metal Circus we ask the question, "What are the top five twin guitar attack bands of all time?"

What two guitar bands are the most iconic? Which one made the best use of two guitars? What guitar tag team is the most talented? Which twin guitar band is the most influential?

In the history of blues based hard rock there is a tradition of bands playing great heavy rhythm riffs with catchy singable chorues. Bands like AC/DC and KISS come to mind but there are many others including this week's Bluesy Tuesday featured band; KIX.

Originally calling themselves Shooze and eventually changing their name to the Generators and ultimately, the hard rocking boys from Balitmore, KIX, garnered quite a reputation for themselves as one of Maryland's most exciting live bands, covering influences in the blues based hard rock format.

This year marks the thirtith aniversary of their smash album, Blow My Fuse and the band is celebrating by releasing a two disc special edition of their late eighties classic featuring a remixed and remaseterd version of the album by Beau Hill as well as an entire disc of demos that will give a fans a peek under the hood at how the songs evolved. Rockin' Rant #1: Dumbass Artists That Block Me
11:15

YouTube is the number one source for people to find music. If you want someone to hear your music, you have a better chance of catching their ear on YouTube than you do on Spotify, Soundcloud, Pandora, or Bandcamp. Those are just the facts, as of the writing of this blog post.

Since we have established this as a fact, why in the hell would an artist block a video who's sole intention was to promote their music? That sounds like madness... right? Let me tell you kids, it happens ALL THE TIME!

We actually stopped posting our podcast on YouTube for a couple of years for this reason. We would put a lot of time and effort and even financial expense into producing a great podcast, converting it to video, promoting it, only to have the artist, or their label block it. I even had labels block videos of artist that THEY had me interview for them. WTF???

And it's not just me... Rick Beato also did a great video about this. Rick is awesome and you should definitely check out his YouTube Channel. You can check out Rick's rant on "the blockers" here: https://youtu.be/nnp2VS2cBwA

This music (guitar driven rock music) isn't exactly setting the world on fire. It's really guys like me, Electric Monkey Radio, Rock Rage Radio, Metal Devastation, Loudwire and a few others that are truly passionate enough about it who are beating the drum for rock and roll. People find us on YouTube and discover new bands and younger folks (almost none of them listen to corporate radio these days) find out about great classic bands. I wanted to let you know that this was happening for you to tell your favorite bands and their labels to knock this crap off.

Wicked Riff Wednesday Episode 4: What Was The First Heavy Metal Riff
07:12

When we speak of the beginnings of heavy metal, we may mention acts like Cream, The Jimi Hendrix Experience or Blue Cheer and while all of these bands played heavy music for their time, there is one track by one band that predates them all.

In 1964 when everyone was trying to sound like The Beatles, frustrated Kinks guitarist Dave Davies took a razor blade to the speaker cone of his amp affectionally known as "little greeney" and changed the course of rock and roll forever.

The song "You Really Got Me" sounded nothing like anything of it's time. It was heavy and sleazy and the first track in history who's hook was based around a distorted guitar riff. This was a year before Keef Riff-hard rocked our socks off with the fuzztone riff of Satisfaction and four years before The Beatles would cut Helter Skelter.

The track was a complete stand out in it's day and has become one of the most recognized riffs in all of classic rock-dome. So this week we celebrate Dave Davies, The Kinks and the birth of heavy metal!

When Should Aging Rockers Retire?
55:05

Getting older... it happens to ALL of us. Someday we will be talking about how old Greta Van Fleet looks. Trust me... we will. This begs the question, is rock and roll an inveritable fountain of youth or do rockers have an expiration date?
Being a musician and getting a little older myself, I can tell you that the love of playing music for those of us who truly have it never goes away. When I strap on that Les Paul, I honestly feel pretty much the same way that I did when I was seventeen. I would imagine that it's no different for Pete Townsend, Keith Richards, Robert Plant or Bruce Dickinson. There is something about playing music that feels eternal no matter how long you have been doing it.

Still the question comes up when you hear about a Meatloaf reunion tour where, Meatloaf won't be singing. I will admit that that one is a real head scratcher for me too. It also comes into question when you go see and artist and it's obvious that they are only going through the motions with no real passion behind what they are doing. And of course it can be disheartening to hear one of your favorite rockers sound completly burnt out and singing terribly off key all night. When I see and hear things like this I am tempted to say, maybe it's time to rethink what you are doing.

But... who the hell am I to tell someone when it's time to stop playing music???

Ultimately the fans will decide when a rocker will retire. I have seen bands out there, like Whitesnake still doing it, with a grizzled and very tired sounding David Coverdale but people still turn out to the shows. Obviously, people still want to see them doing their thing. As long as fans will show up, there is no practical reason to stop touring.

People love artists for a lot of different reasons. It isn't always how well they sing or play... I will refrain from listing current bands... folks in their twenties who fall into THAT category. Sometimes its nostalgia; sometimes it's just being in the same room with a band that had a huge impact on their life, no matter how they sound now. There was something comforting knowing that Tom Petty, David Bowie, and Prince where still out there making music and very sad that they are no longer with us. It makes me feel good that the Stones put out a blues album and that Robert Plant is doing Americana. These artists, despite what they do are touch stones. These are the men and women who showed us what rock and roll is. They are our elders and while poking fun at celebrities seems to be a favorite past time of western culture, we should always have some reverence for those who laid the way for us. They should be given leway to sound as they sound, look as they look and to grow old gracefully... or not. Featured Loudini Artists: Hardcore Superstar

Bluesy Tuesday Episode 4 Slash Lives
12:59

: It may seem like a miracle, but you know that guy from Guns 'N Roses... Yeah.. .the one with the top hat and Les Paul slung down to his ankles? Well that sneaky so and so, found time to get together with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators and record and another record. And let me you kids, if the first single is any indication, this it going to be one bad ass record. It's called Living the Dream and we are going to give you a taste on this week's Bluesy Tuesday Episode 4.

We are also going to take a closer look at one of Slash's classic riffs, Paradise City and explore it a little deeper. When it comes to blues based hard rock it was hard to pick which track to talk about from the Slash catalog. We settled on Paradise City because it's main riffs and melodic structure are practically a lesson in great blues based riffs in the tradition of bands like Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin. So... it's a double shot this week... a "two for Tuesday" if you will of the grand master himself... Slash!

Wicked Riff Wednesday Episode 3: Hey Hey My My... is Neil Young a good guitar player?
09:12

What does it mean when some one says that this person or that person is a good or even great guitar player? On what merits should we judge or is it completely subjective?

On this week's episode we discuss Neil Young. While mostly thought of as a singer songwriter, Neil has a very unique approach to playing lead guitar. His style is self decribed as "less is most". The solo to Cinnamon Girl is the same note repeated on two different strings. Yet I find his guitar work very moving.

Some of his best guitaring is live. Do a YouTube search of his live electic work and you will find a guitarist who plays with blind feel. He just goes for it. While he hits his share of clunkers for sure, there is a danger and a beauty at times in his playing that simply just tugs at your heart strings.

Today I want to celebrate the heavier side of Neil Young with the classic riff "Hey Hey My My (Into The Black). Whether you're a Neil Young fan or not, you have to admit that this is one of the HEAVIEST riffs in rock's pantheon. So grab a cold beverage and crank this one up because Rust Never Sleeps!

A Stalking Fan asks to join the band, and Dan Too is Born
23:04

Dan Too is a country-rock, alt. country outfit from Santa Cruz, CA with a thinly veiled tendency towards yacht-rock. The band contains members from American Starlet, Painted Horses, Dan Juan, Grand Larson, Slow Ocean, T Sisters, Birdhouse, and Dos Osos.

Dan Too is about to become your new favorite band. Debuting with us today their latest single "Waiting around for life," we found ourselves instantly intrigued by the band.

From start to finish the track entices with strong hooks, prominent instrumentation and thoughtful lyricism. Hailing from Santa Cruz the band paves the way for new Alt-Country bands alike. It's evident that the band whispers hints of artists such as Wilco and Whiskeytown, but the music they create is on their own terms.

The band contains members from American Starlet, Painted Horses, Dan Juan, Grand Larson, Slow Ocean, T Sisters, Birdhouse, and Dos Oso, which is impressive to say the least. Singer and guitarist Daniel Talamantes is a vocal dream as he teams up with Ian Parks on pedal steel, guitar and vocals, Tyler Larson on bass and vocals and Jon Payne on drums and vocals. A match made in heaven, "Isis and Osiris," is only the beginning for Dan Too.. Listen closely....

Bluesy Tuesday Episode 3: Greta Van Fleet, the next rock gods, or cheap Led Zeppelin wannabes?
10:44

Every once in a while a band comes along the stirs the pot, generating a large fanbase as well as detractors. Greta Van Fleet with their Led Zeppelin flavored debut has done both.

Their fans love them and show up to their shows in droves, evidenced by the sold out shows that they are playing around the US, but they do have their share of haters.

It boggles my mind that the same people who decry today's bands a superficial, plastic, and unsoulful are the same ones who jump on the Greta Van Fleet hate wagon. Isn't this the band that they have been waiting for? Why is Greta Van Fleet so polerizing?

It's probably a combination of the band's blatant Led Zeppelin infunce which they actually deny. This has understandably earned the ire of a lot of Led Zeppelin fans and has even irked Robert Plant a bit. They owe a lot of what they do to Led Zeppelin and they would do best just to own that and wear it as a badge of honor.

They are a young band and it will be interesting to see what they do next. In the meantime, what side of the fence are you on? Are you a Greta Van Fleet fan or foe?

Birthed from the rough streets of Homestead; Neostem brings their working class punk ethos to rock and roll
23:39

Formed in early 2013 in a very cold garage, the foundation of Neostem was formed. Three musicians from different musical backgrounds came together to make the sound that is only described as Neostem! The music is fused with punk, grunge, alternative and a tad of metal, wrapped in neatly in a loud, tightly knit shell. "LIpid" is the latest EP that was recorded at Razorblade Recordings and the band are preparing for EP #2 for the Fall of 2018! Catch them live at a venue near you!

Clayton Morgan learns that you never loose your passion for music even if you're all grown up
20:49

Son of Eddie Daniels (The Four Sonics), Clayton Morgan is history in the remaking, but with a fresh new flavor for 2018. His debut single, “Taste for Love” is scheduled for June 2018 release.

Based in Dallas, Texas, but born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Clayton Morgan knew from a young age that music was in his blood. He greatly admired what his father had accomplished with The Four Sonics, and the impact that the iconic soul foursome had on the world. Growing up, Clayton often envisioned following in his father’s footsteps.

Music played a big role in Clayton Morgan’s upbringing, both at home and at school. Clayton was regularly part of school musicals, choir groups and drama clubs. Outside of school, he always looked up to his father as his mentor and was also heavily influenced by a wide range of singers, including Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Prince, Madonna and Whitney Houston, to name a few. All of these ingredients combined, have no doubt, been the main contributing factor toward Clayton’s unique and authentic vocal style.

Jamming leads to friendships and even more jamming for Shaman Elect
24:14

Tight grooves, crisp tones, emotive lyrics, waves of mood oriented improvisation.  Shaman Elect was born inside warehouses turned art studios in Brooklyn, NY. It started as a fusion of styles between Ethan Warshowsky(synths, vocals) and Fredy Garcia (guitar, vocals). Together, they began developing each other’s songs by combining elements of jazz, rock, and electronica.

In early 2017, leading up to their first live performance, Mike Malkowski (drums, vocals) joined the group, contributing his inventive and dynamic drumming. Expressive singer, Sarah Warshowsky (lead vocals) became the group’s frontwoman.

After a series of successful performances in New York City, the band entered the studio to work on their debut full-length album, Mind the Ether.  A distinct fusion of styles, the album captures the diverse musical backgrounds of its creators, ranging from the pulsating and brooding qualities of electronic music (“Woman in Black”) to the groove based improvisational nature of modern psychedelic rock (“Hugo of Bath”). Rich with captivating rhythms and inspired performances, Mind the Ether will in no doubt elicit physical movement and raw emotion from its listeners.

Thematically, the album utilizes sonic imagery to tell the story of the human condition. The “Intro” track establishes the unmistakable psychedelic mood of the album by placeing the listener in a mysterious forest greeted by a sage. We are warmly welcomed to sit by a crackling fire and invited to listen.

What follows is an emotional journey with peaks of euphoria and troughs of desolation and rage.

Neil and Bee find eachother in the classifieds and end up making great guitar pop together
26:14

Based in London, Neil Fitzsimon and Bee Brogan aim to produce “pure pop for now people.” Neil and Bee were both members of the band, Pretty Blue Gun, who were signed to an indie label, licensed to Sony. They released two albums which were critically acclaimed. Some of the guest musicians included members of The Art of Noise, Dave Bronze (Eric Clapton’s bass player), Tobias Boshell (Moody Blues) and Pip Williams, who played guitar on the Walker Brothers’ track, ‘No Regrets’. The albums were produced by Pat Collier, who produced Katrina and the Waves’ international hit, ‘Walking on Sunshine’. The band went on national tours across the UK, until disbanding.
Neil Fitzsimon, the songwriter, and Bee Brogan, the vocalist, then went on to form a songwriting/production partnership that led to placement of their songs in Film and TV. They also wrote a musical, Jack Dagger, which was showcased at the Greenwich Theatre, London for the Musical Futures Award. It was also showcased at the Bridewell and the Royal College of Music in London. They have also just had a song placed in a USA Sci-Fi Feature film. They recently had a track reach number 3 in a French national download chart.
All songs are written by Neil Fitzsimon. Vocals, keyboards, drums and engineering by Bee Brogan. All guitars played by Neil Fitzsimon.
Fitzsimon and Brogan see themselves as a studio act much in the vein of Tin Tin Out and Talk Talk. Their influences range from The Beatles, Elvis Costello, Jimmy Webb, Jacques Brel and David Bowie.

New album, “Big Blue World” is due for release in June, with another scheduled for fall 2018 release.

Joél Hernandez Reinvents Guitar Driven Pop
21:49

Prodigiously gifted singer, songwriter and guitarist Joel Hernandez is just 20, but the pop-rock wunderkind has already absorbed a lifetime of music. Growing up in El Campo, Texas, he soaked up the region’s diverse soundscapes. Through his multi-generational musician family, he learned how to be a thoughtful and emotive songwriter. Joel’s debut is rife with standout tracks. On the bluesy pop rocker “So Young,” he shares a wise-beyond-his-years perspective on young relationships. “That’s about living in the moment with the people in your life because, as bitter sweet as it is, you know they’ll leave your orbit soon,” Joel says. The amorous “It’s Only You” smoothly melds urban pop to atmospheric rock. The after-the-love-is-gone ballad “Where Are You Now?” tugs at your heartstrings and sticks in your ears like a Top 40 hit from the future. The anthemic “Spirit Of Summer” celebrates being young with irresistible pop-rock hooks and undeniable melodies. Joel showcases his bluesy roots on “Can’t Get Through” which boasts a sleek pop chorus a la John Mayer. “The album reflects all the different styles of music I grew up with. Back home, you could go out any night of the week and catch two-step music, blues, hard rock, salsa, and Tejano. All these flavors shaped me, and that’s the diversity I wanted to share on my album,” Joel says. This is Joel’s first foray in the pop-rock arena, and he’s doing it with an album of flair, dimension and depth. Joel reflects on this milestone saying: “This is a big step to a career in music, and I’m so excited to get out there and share this album with everyone. It feels like this has been a lifetime in the making.”

Joseph Eid defied his parents, and the odds to follow his Passion for Music
21:28

Since the release of his Human LP, Folk-Pop artist Joseph Eid has been garnering considerable buzz. He has been featured in American Songwriter Magazine’s “Best New Music” column and was named as one of the 100 Hottest Live Unsigned Artists by Music Connection Magazine. The magazine has also reviewed his latest EP release “Watch It Fall” and described him as “an engaging storyteller (a la Jason Mraz) with a keen eye for character.” His song “It’s Only Love” is in a new Universal studios film starring Sharon Stone called “All I Wish.”

Joseph Eid has been writing poetry and dreaming of a career in the arts as long as he can remember. He grew up mostly in the suburbs of New York. Raised in a strict and traditional home, the arts were only supported as a hobby and never as a career. During his college years, Eid studied psychology and pre-med. After his first semester at med school, his dream got too big to hold and Eid made the bold choice of dropping out to move to New York City to pursue music.

While in New York, Joseph Eid picked up a guitar, joined a band, and the songs poured out of him like rain. His journey then led to Los Angeles where he started playing regularly at open mic nights and showcases. Shortly after, he began working with world-renowned guitarist/songwriter, David Lamar, honing his songwriting at weekly showcases at the Stone Bar. This lead him to write dozens of new songs as well as record a debut EP, Cardiac Output, followed by a full-length LP, Human.

Known as a dynamic solo performer, Joseph Eid has brought his one-man live show to many of Los Angeles’ premiere music venues. He has toured regionally as well as nationally and has also enjoyed playing regular house concerts and corporate events. You can catch him every Monday at his current residency in downtown los angles at Bar Mattachine where he performs and hosts a singer songwriter showcase weekly.

"Raven Black ‘Seven Sins’ – Album Review
Are you a fan of the macabre and the twisted? Do you have a fondness for the brutal and the bazaar? When you heard Darth Vader speak of going over to the dark side, did you think that sounded like a thought-provoking proposition to you? Then you my friend, may be interested in Raven Black, the uncompromising female-fronted metal band turning heads with their gritty tunes and dark carnival inspired visuals. It’s this mixture of fun and frightening that pulled me in, and it was their haunting hooks and sinister style that kept me wanting to know more about this band.

Last year, Raven Black released the EP ‘Seven Sins,’ which feature seven songs each as good as the last. “Twinkle Twinkle Little Scars,” the first track on the record, is the perfect introduction to the group thanks to its circus-themed rhythm which metal fans could liken to ‘Black Waltz’ era Avatar. To be honest, I loved every song on ‘Seven Sins,’ partially because it was as if someone took some of my favorite things, such as sideshows, Stitched Up Heart, voodoo, Daisy Chainsaw, Butcher Babies, vintage horror movies, unhinged vocals, unwielding guitars, and dominating drums, put them in a blender, and then added just enough LSD to make things totally unpredictable. Furthermore, I can feel the emotion behind the bands lyrics, such as in the song “Still Healing.” When vocalist Raven Black sings, “You let me fall. You Let Me Drown. You let me down. I’m still healing,” she doesn’t just throw those words away. They’re spoken in a way that makes them action verbs, bringing them to life. And isn’t that what we all want in our music? For it to transcend and help us to feel like we aren’t alone, even during our loneliest moments? “Damaged,” on the other hand, showcases the bands spirited sick side with rapid-fire pedals, a chugging hook, and seriously brutal vocals that prove just how hard women in metal can rock.
‘Seven Sins’ is delightfully demented, and offers just the right balance of sincerity and a band that does not take themselves too seriously. Raven Black is definitely one of those bands to watch, even if they make you feel as if you want to sleep with one eye open.

The band’s debut release, “Welcome To The Escape” came out in 2010 and made a strong impact for BrokenRail’s inception. The album was produced by Ben Trexel & Rick Beato (Shinedown, Crossfade). The band toured extensively throughout the Southern Regions before getting back into the studio for their sophomore album. BrokenRail teamed up with producer & engineer Brett Hestla (Framing Hanley) in 2011 to work on tracking and release for the EP "Never The Same". In November of 2016, BrokenRail released a 3 track EP based off the upcoming album simply titled “BROKENRAIL” which was the first hint of the bands next full-fledged release. The release was to introduce a new and powerful direction for the band moving forward. Ashley J writes songs on the walls and discovers her perfect fit
16:40

At first glance, Ashley J exudes a vivacious and seductive youthful energy that’s wrapped in her free-flowing blonde locks, natural good looks and voluptuous body frame. However, beneath her eye-pleasing visual facade, she has a fascinatingly diverse background, artistically and musically and packs a wallop of a voice that fuses an infectious blend of vocal dexterity, moods and range. She tempers her vocal prowess with poignant lyrics and a kindred soul as an emerging songwriter/singer. And it’s all aptly and full exposed on her new pop single, “Unbreakable.” The song was recorded at his famed Tarpan Studio complex in San Rafael, CA. Laced with mid-tempo snaps, shadowy synths and soft whispers; “Trapped” highlights a deep infatuation with a new partner. Ashley’s sultry pipes gradually build.
Self-penned by Ashley J, she collaborated with UK’s established producers, Jamie Sellers and Warwick Matthews to produce this buoyant new track. The Orlando native weaves her airy and enticing vocals through dreamy piano melodies and bouncy synths. This light-hearted single takes listeners on an uplifting journey and showcases Ashley’s authentic pop style.
Ashley’s previous single “Trapped” reached #1 on the European Independent Music Charts. On a chance meeting legendary songwriter/producer and multi-platinum Grammy and Emmy winning, Narada Michael Walden Ashley produced her hit steamy single. The song was recorded at his famed Tarpan Studio complex in San Rafael, CA. Laced with mid-tempo snaps, shadowy synths and soft whispers;
“Trapped” highlights a deep infatuation with a new partner. Ashley’s sultry pipes gradually build a gravitating tension throughout the song, until it hits the exciting and uncontrollable bridge which reveals her scintillating and broad vocal range. “Trapped” was released independently (May 2017) on Ashley J’s own production company imprint, Bombshell Music, Inc.
In fact, it has been Ashley J’s devotion to songwriting that has jettisoned and fueled the embryonic stages of her artistic career so far. As a precocious little girl, she started writing songs on her bathroom walls, much to the chagrin of her parents, who were constantly forced to repaint her lyrical scribbles. However, she proved it wasn’t just a childhood dalliance, and over the past several years she has built a catalog of over 100 songs. She’s looking to feature several more original songs on an EP project for release later this year.
“I love a lot of different styles of music,” says Ashley J, “but contemporary pop is the best genre fit for me, and I feel it allows me to have free range as a songwriter/singer.”
Last year she eased her way into the contemporary pop scene, with her debut video supported single release, “Dare Ya,” which helped to galvanize a burgeoning fan base and signaled her commitment to making pop her signature genre.
While Ashley was busy cutting her teeth as a songwriter/performer, she also managed to earn a BA degree in Business Law from University of North Texas (2015).

While initially attending University of Tulsa, she also had a brief foray in writing and recording a couple of country music tracks in Nashville. She later traveled to Los Angeles, where she wrote and recorded a couple of solo dance songs “One and One” (charted in Billboard’s Top 20 Dance Chart) and “Cali” (which reached the Top 10 on the same chart).
Ashley J grew up listening to wide range of musical genres and pop greats like Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera and Michael Jackson, to legendary country stars Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton (who she cites as her all time musical hero). She attended the Dr. Phillips High School of Performing Arts in Orlando and showcased her innate singing and dancing talents performing lead roles in the schools theatre and musical productions – and was also active in her church choir and theatre productions.
Ashley J is ready to write a new chapter in her musical journey. She’s come a long way from those bathroom wall scribbles, and primed to become a revered figure in the world of pop music.

Opera singer Nadia E, Puts Her years of Training to use in the Service of Rock 'n Roll!
25:20

Nadia was born in northeastern New Jersey. At eleven years old, her family moved to a beach community in southern California. At her new school, Nadia was assigned choir as her elective class. Excelling at singing, she began private lessons in opera.

Nadia had great love and appreciation for the art and technique of opera, but felt the need to explore more liberal styles of singing and performing. At fourteen, she heard Nirvana’s ‘Bleach’ album and discovered that her heart belonged to rock ‘n’ roll.

At sixteen, Nadia went to her first rock concert at the Palladium in Los Angeles. Enthralled by the experience, she started attending as many shows as possible. Each show felt like a gift and her motivation to become more than an audience member grew.

Nadia’s operatic studies continued until she was nineteen, when she received an opportunity to audition for ‘The Dynamos’. Her presentation of the material seamlessly fit the envisioned musical and lyrical content of the band. She immediately became the lead vocalist for the project.

Nadia’s stage performance is enhanced by her rigorous fitness routine, comprised of spinning poi (the swinging of tethered weights through rhythmical and geometric patterns), weighted hula-hoop, as well as other traditional forms of exercise. Nadia’s healthy lifestyle also includes interests in culinary arts and the creation of her own recipes.

Nadia is integral to the development and implementation of ‘The Dynamos’ brand. Her contributions consist of makeup artistry, jewelry design, and performance wardrobe development.

What is Rock's Greatest Decade?

It's a battle of the decades as Lily, Keith and Loudini  discuss what is/was Rock's greatest decade? They also rank the 7 decades of rock music from best to worst. It's the show that time forgot but you won't want to miss!  Featured Loudini Artists:    Dark Entries   Firewind   Thundermother    Turbowolf

Dark Entries
http://www.darkentriesla.com/
Dark Entries was originally founded in 2012 by brothers Mickey and Juice Hernandez in Whittier, Ca. The desire to create their brand of original rock music with the vast array of influences was something that both of them had an interest in doing for quite awhile. Those influences range from bands like Black Sabbath, Ratt, Ozzy Osbourne, and Iron Maiden to Marilyn Manson, Gene Loves Jezebel, Bauhaus, The Bolshoi, and Genesis. With an eclectic blend of hard rock, heavy metal and goth, the birth of Dark Entries was formed.

Upon a few lineup changes, Dark Entries selected lead guitarist Nick Mendoza and drummer Alexis Villatoro, which gave the lineup of Juice Hernandez on rhythm guitar, Nick "Nix" Mendoza on lead guitar, Alexis Villatoro on drums, and Mickey Hernandez on bass and lead vocals. With the addition of influences like Disturbed, KISS, and other hard rock bands, the music of Dark Entries has become more melodic and powerful.

Dark Entries began performing local gigs in late 2017 and are currently focused on recording a few songs. "The Moonlight Run" is Dark Entries' debut single. It was written about a fictional character, a young woman, who is a Hollywood socialite constantly out at social events where the rich and famous congregate, in hopes of obtaining some with no real talent of her own.

Firewind
Time to wake the sleeping giant...
It’s been four years since Firewind released their critically acclaimed seventh album ‘Few Against Many’ but in that time the band and it’s various members have all been extremely busy. Main man Gus G. has released not one, but two solo albums, toured in support of both of them and hit the road once again with the ‘Prince of Darkness’, Ozzy Osbourne. His fellow Firewind band mates have also been far from idle too; but despite the prolonged break in activities Firewind was always going to return and 2016 will see the band back and blasting on all cylinders!
The band will return with live activities and a new singer. Henning Basse, a long time friend and collaborator of Gus’ is the man trusted to bring Firewind back to the masses. His rich, classic rock referencing vocals are the perfect foil for the wealth of material the band have been working on and he brings a reinvigorated power to the band.

Biography

Thundermother started the summer 2010 in Växjö when the guitarist and southern swede Filippa Nässil wanted to play Rock'N'Roll. So with dreams and visions along with the song "Shoot to Kill" humming in her head she started Thundermother. She moved to Stockholm to pursue her dream.
She found her first partner in crime Giorgia Carteri in Stockholm who also followed her own dreams of playing music, coming all the way from Italy, though nowadays she's identified as one of the southern stockholm fellas.
After numerous ordeals with other musicians they have finally found the right group of people with right motives and Rock'N'Roll in their heart. Tilda Stenqvist on drums from Karlstad, Linda Ström from the Smålander woods and Clare Cunningham born and raised on Ireland, nowadays living in Stockholm.
They're having fun and it's noticeable on-stage. Pure enjoyment and Rock'N'Roll deep from their bones. Hardrock-girls from around the world now united to do one sole thing, to play together and travel on the roads.

Thundermother has been playing the Close-Up boat with Turbonegro and Candlemass, they were the opening act for Danko Jones on his Swedish Tour, they were the openers for Metaltown on the Blood Stage in the presence of thousands of people before Clutch and Graveyard, they had played with bands like Bonafide, The Scams & many many others. Thundermother did it themselves the hard way. Without a record they filled pubs and clubs to the brim and played at Sweden Rock Festival and will continue to tour! ROCK N ROLL IS ALIVE!

Ragdoll

http://www.ragdollrock.bandcamp.com
Merges the swagger of the Seventies, the anthemic melodies of the mid-Eighties and the sonic intensity of modern times.” Classic Rock Magazine

Perth rockers Ragdoll are set to release their long awaited debut album ‘Back To Zero’ in Australia May 6 via Firestarter Distribution, closely followed by a string of shows across the country. Built around the classic trio format, ‘Back To Zero’ is an epic slab of hard rock with a sound that owes as much to the arena rock of the 70's and 80's as it does the grungy sounds of the 90’s.

Led by the powerhouse vocals of Ryan Rafferty and backed by the shredding guitars of Leon Todd and pounding drum grooves of Cam Barrett, ‘Back To Zero’ may tip its hat to the past but is a thoroughly modern record. Avoiding the genre’s cliche of sex, drugs and rock n' roll, ‘Back To Zero’ instead explores lyrical themes ranging from social media addiction (current single The World You Gave Us), technological alienation (Rewind Your Mind), domestic abuse (Letting Go) and the existential (Shine).

Renowned as one of the hardest working bands around, Ragdoll hit the road throughout 2015 playing over 70 shows throughout Australia and the USA in order to fund their album themselves. By road testing new material while writing and having complete control over their creative process, the final result is a consistent and honest expression of the Ragdoll sound.

Todd says of the process, ”We just set out to make music we ourselves love to listen to. We never set out to sound like anyone other than ourselves.”

After planting seeds in the US via 30+ dates including a coveted slot at the Rocklahoma festival (alongside Megadeth and Rob Zombie) and supporting Skid Row at the Whisky, Ragdoll plan to head back overseas but will first launch ‘Back To Zero’ with live dates this June and July around Australia.

On what drives Ragdoll in 2016 Rafferty says "We feel like Ragdoll is a band that happily bridges the divide between old and new school while still staying true to the aesthetics that made rock music so great in the first place."

‘Back To Zero’ is out May 6 via Firestarter Distribution and is currently available for pre-order via JB Hifi.

New single 'The World You Gave Us' is out now via all good digital retailers

Scorpion Child
http://www.scorpionchildofficial.com
A rock ‘n’ roll record should unlock a journey. The music, lyrics, and aura can summon a trip out of the ether. Scorpion Child conjure that kind of trip on their second full-length album, Acid Roulette [Nuclear Blast Entertainment].
The Austin, TX quartet—Aryn Jonathan Black [vocals], Christopher Jay Cowart [lead guitar], Jon “Charn” Rice [percussion], Alec “Mexecutioner” Padron [bass], and Aaron John “AJ” Vincent [heavy keys]—confidently expand the sonic palette established on their 2013 self-titled debut. That first offering bowed at #26 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart and #99 on the Hard Music Albums chart. Following its premiere by Eddie Trunk, iTunes named “Polygon Of Eyes” its “Single of the Week,” and Scorpion Child earned a nomination for “Best New Band” at the Classic Rock Magazine presented “Classic Rock Awards.” They’d also share the stage with Monster Truck on the “Lords of the Riff” UK Tour.
Everything set the stage to play Acid Roulette.
“We didn’t want to divorce what we had built on the first record,” explains Aryn. “At the same time, we wanted to show we could do a lot of different things. The goal was to create a sound that could be both ethereal and turbulent. It was a journey making it. We all were going through a lot of stuff, but everything fell into place.”
Following a breakout two years, the group amicably parted ways with drummer Shawn Paul Alvear, bassist Shaun Avants, and guitarist Thomas Frank. Scorpion Child welcomed “Charn,” “Mexecutioner,” and “AJ” and immediately hit the studio in early 2015. Once again, they teamed up with GRAMMY® Award-nominated producer Chris “Frenchie” Smith [Meat Puppets, The Toadies, …And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead] at The Bubble in Austin, TX. However, they took a different route this time during their three weeks in the studio.
"We recorded the heart and soul of the album live in the studio” says Aryn. “We didn’t do that on the first record. Tracking live made the album a snapshot of a moment. Since the guys just joined the band, we didn’t have much time to figure each other out or overthink things. We just naturally clicked. It was a do or die situation, but it worked out. Our initial vision became more intense with time and texture.”
That intensity courses through the album’s conceptual narrative. A tale of love, loss, lust, betrayal, and a game called “Acid Roulette,” the record follows the story of a doomed love that lands the male protagonist behind bars while his wife lives out an affair with her wealthy lover.
“With extensive touring, you experience so many things,” Aryn goes on. “I had this lucid dream about a bohemian guy who gets framed for a murder he perhaps did or didn’t do. He goes to prison for life. In order to mentally escape, he plays ‘Acid Roulette.’ The inmates would take a jar and cut up a sheet of acid and a sheet of paper. They’d mix it all up. Some guys wound up with like five hits of acid, while other people got none. It’s crazy.”
That story comes to life across the record’s twelve songs. The first single “Reaper’s Danse” revs up a twin guitar assault ala the New Wave of British Heavy Metal and otherworldly howl that could rouse any graveyard from its slumber.
“Lyrically, it’s the dance of the dead,” he explains. “It’s about what we become in the afterlife. It’s this triumph on top of something monolithic. The character is thinking about death, but he has no rope. He still has some will to live.”
“My Woman In Black” tempers a muscular riff with a bluesy cadence that’s wonderfully doomy as our protagonist muses on the woman that destroyed him.
“It’s about the first time he ever saw her,” continues Aryn. “Musically, it’s like an archway for us. We’re leaping into other influences like dark wave and even nodding to the likes of Bauhaus and The Sisters Of Mercy.”
Whether it’s the woozy psychedelic soul of the title track or the haze of delay on the chugging “She Sings I Kill,” Scorpion Child channel the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll with a fresh spell of their own.
“We wanted to blend sounds we haven’t heard before,” Aryn leaves off. “It’s gritty when it needs to be. There’s a lot to think about in there. I hope people can absorb something personal when they go on this ride.”

Diamante

http://www.thisisdiamante.com
Diamonds are like artists;
no two should be alike.
Enter Diamante. With iridescent sapphire hair, a show-stopping voice, runway-ready fashion swagger, and an empowering message, the Boston-raised and Los Angeles-based Mexican-Italian-American sonic heroine brings a new (and blue) fire to rock and alternative music. Serendipitously, her name might as well have pre-destined a future in the spotlight…
“In Spanish, Diamante means ‘Diamond,’ and my middle name Azzura means ‘Blue’ in Italian,” she explains. “If I was a color, I would be blue. I love it, because it’s bold, ethereal, and everything I am.”
Born to an Italian dad and Mexican mom in a Boston suburb, she always stood out. Interchangeably speaking three languages—Italian, Spanish, and English—she found inspiration in words, penning poetry and short stories at a young age inspired by J.K. Rowling and Stephen King. Drawn to musical theater, the budding performer starred in school productions of The Little Mermaid, Grease, and more before relocating to L.A. with her family at 13. Already a fan of Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavigne, her discovery of rock music via a School of Rock summer program ignited a dormant passion.
“Being on stage and singing rock was the way I broke out of my shell and was able to realize who I am and the full potential I have,” she admits. “From there, I really connected to the women of the eighties like Joan Jett, Pat Benatar, and Debbie Harry. I thought they were so cool, iconic, and badass. That’s how I wanted to be.”
Diamante spent the next few years quietly cutting her teeth at local gigs on the Sunset Strip as a singular musical vision came into focus. A disciple of both P!nk and Guns N’ Roses who doesn’t fall into rockstar excess or even sport tattoos, she devoted every waking minute to honing a signature “classic rock sound with a modern alternative edge.” This unique and undeniable approach caught the attention of Eleven Seven Music Group and Better Noise Records who signed her in 2015. Amassing a bevy of ideas, she hit the studio with super producer Howard Benson `{`My Chemical Romance, Chris Cornell, Halestorm, Kelly Clarkson`}` to record what would become her full-length debut, Coming In Hot. “Diamante is the only true heir to the female rock throne that has been vacant since Joan Jett’s heyday,” says Howard Benson.
“Howard really pushed me to be vulnerable and talk about things I was afraid to talk about,” she goes on. “I finally got the courage to be honest with my lyrics and myself. I want to be someone girls and guys growing up can relate to.”
Her single “Coming In Hot”—out June 16, 2017—seesaws between an arena-filling chant and a robust and raucous riff. At the center, she confidently serves up the knockout refrain, “Whether you’re ready or not, I’m coming in hot!”
“It’s essentially a super fun weekend summer anthem,” she smiles. “I picture people leaving their day jobs in the car on a Friday, cranking this, and getting ready to go nuts on the weekend. It’s also a metaphor for me coming in hot into the industry. I want to bring this style back and take over rock.”
In the end, rock ‘n’ roll has never sounded, looked, or felt like Diamante on Coming In Hot.
She leaves off, “When people hear this, I’d like for them to think, ‘Oh my God, rock is not dead. This girl is bringing it back’—whether they’re ready or not…”

Heather Whitney turns tragedy into triumph
22:33

Singer-Songwriter, Heather Whitney comes from an itty-bitty, one-red-light town deep in the pines of Southeast Texas, where the mosquitoes are big, but Heather's love for music is bigger!

Heather's new album, "Moving on" is full of love, heartbreak, and moving on. This album is everything she has lived through, felt, and overcame, while in the studio. "Just because you're working towards your dreams, doesn't mean that the world stops spinning, and hardships won't find you," says Heather. "What gave me strength to complete my album, was knowing that I was not alone, & that someone else out there would hear these songs, relate to them, and possibly gain some healing like I did. We have to stick together."

Heather spent the last year flying back and forth from Newton, TX to Nashville, TN, writing, hand-picking songs for the album, and recording with producer, Buddy Hyatt. She just wrapped and released her first music video for her single "Shut Up And Dance" and her album “Moving On” (Now available on ITunes)!

"Everyone who was apart of this project was there because of their belief in me, and I'm forever humbled and thankful for them and this experience. Everything that I put into this album will absolutely translate to the listener! Hope y'all enjoy it!"

JINJER is a Ukrainian female fronted band which plays a mixture of progressive metalcore and groove metal, with some inlays of funk, reggae and jazz, though on their second LP the band shifted a bit to death metal of the European school. JINJER were formed in 2010, when Tatiana Shmailyuk joined the guys as a vocalist. In 2013, the band were acknowledged as the best metal band of the year in Ukraine.
JINJER are often mistakenly compared to Iwrestledabearonce, Straight Line Stitch, Arch Enemy, etc. Which is completely wrong, as members of JINJER, being asked about their influences, always name such bands as Lamb of God, Pantera, Gojira, Killswitch Engage, Death, Chimaira, All Shall Perish, Protest the Hero. However, Tatiana says that she really appreciates Sandra from Guano Apes and Shamaya from Otep for being her biggest inspirations as a female metal vocalist. She also mentions Mikael Åkerfeldt from Opeth and Randy Blythe from LOG.
In April 2014 JINJER released their second LP – CLOUD FACTORY. The album is devoted to the devastating effect of the heavy industry and global businesses on the environment, nature and average people's lives.
To support CLOUD FACTORY album the band went on a long European tour in April-May 2014 around Poland, Germany, Czech, Belgium, France, Switzerland and Russia. JINJER have shared the stage with TIAMAT, PAIN, CALIBAN, EKTOMORF, CLAWFINGER, EVENASCENCE, RASMUS, KATAKLYSM, BLESS THE FALL, etc. Over three years of touring JINJER have played more than 300 shows around the European Union, Russia and Ukraine. The band is a common participant of many top open-air festivals in Ukraine and the EU.

Hardcore Superstar
http://www.hardcoresuperstar.com
Many bands play it safe – Hardcore Superstar doesn't.
The Swedish four-piece had the balls to marry two styles that grew up hating each other. We're talking about thrash metal and sleaze rock. The former hard, aggressive and ugly, the latter catchy, melodic and decadent.
The bastard child's name?

– We play street metal, offers drummer Magnus "Adde" Andreasson. Thrash and sleaze both come from the gutter. They wear big sneakers, they are a bit stupid and they both read pulp fiction. I can't believe that nobody brought them together before.

Hardcore Superstar did just that with the band's fourth and eponymous album, released in 2005. But the quartet didn't arrive overnight, rather paying its dues during a rocky but rewarding ride.

The roots can be traced back to the late eighties, when Adde was talked into playing the drums by older friend and neighbour Jocke Berg.

– I played the guitar and we tried our best with songs such as "Paranoid" and King Diamond's "Shrine", Jocke remembers.

The young teenagers, hailing from a small town just outside of Gothenburg, ended up in different bands, who in turn chose different routes from their Iron Maiden inspired beginnings. Adde opted for heavier stuff in Dorian Gray whereas the Jocke fronted Glamoury Foxx went in a glammier direction. Incidentally, Jocke took up singing thanks to one Thomas Silver, fellow guitar slinger in Glamoury Foxx.

Eventually, Jocke and Adde ended up together again. This time in Link, a classic rock oriented outfit with grunge leanings. They were joined by guitar player Fredrik "Fidde" Johansson and bass player Martin Sandvik, the latter having originally tried to lure Jocke away to his own band, Wanted. Link did the occasional gig and recorded a couple of demos before Adde headed west to pursue his dream.

– I kind of grew tired of Link, he confesses. I moved to Los Angeles to study at the Musicians Institute.

Link recruited drummer Mika Vainio and kept going until parting ways with Fredrik Johansson in the fall of 1997. The guitar player wanted to take the band in a psychedelic and arty direction – the other three just wanted to rock.

– I remember showing Fidde the riff to "Hello/goodbye", Martin says. He turned his back on me and started to play scales on the guitar. He obviously thought the riff sucked.

The remaining members couldn't be bothered, forging ahead and adopting the name Hardcore Superstar. Well, there was one little problem. Jocke already was quite a frontman, but being the sole guitar player? Naaah. As luck would have it, Thomas Silver had just left local rockers Green Jesus Saviours. Hardcore Superstar had a club gig lined up in Gothenburg, so Jocke asked his old bandmate to help out. Things clicked immediately and Thomas signed up as a permanent member.
His connection with Gain Productions helped Hardcore Superstar get "Hello/goodbye" and
"Someone special" onto a compilation album. The response was phenomenal and Gain duly offered the band a contract. And so in early 1998 the boys set out to record their debut album.

– We were influenced by the LA metal scene of the eighties, says Martin. You know, LA Guns and Faster Pussycat and the likes. But we also dug Oasis, as can be heard in "Someone special".

The result, "It's only rock'n'roll", was released in October 1998.

– Putting out an album was awesome, Jocke gushes. I felt like a rock star. And then we got to support Motörhead in Scandinavia. It was like "wow, we've made it!".

The initial 1000 copies of the album sold like hot cakes, and the second pressing sold out as well. Legendary UK label Music For Nations took notice, but Mika Vainio's interest was waning. The drummer jumped ship in late 1998. The band was bummed out but quickly decided that this might've been a blessing in disguise. There was this guy in LA with a bit of skill behind the drums, remember. Thomas called Adde, suggesting he'd get his ass back to Sweden to play some proper rock'n'roll.

– I said yes on the spot, Adde remembers. I felt done with LA, especially after being in a pub brawl that sent me to the hospital. I was back in Sweden in less than a month after Thomas' call.

Everything gelled as soon as the prodigal son returned. Hardcore Superstar signed to MFN but instead of having "It's only rock'n'roll" re-released – as the label was pushing for – the band insisted on re-recording its best tracks plus a few new songs.

– We wanted Adde to be on the album, Martin says. Plus we'd written "Liberation", "Have you been around" and some other great stuff.

The choice proved to be a wise one as soon as "Bad sneakers and a piña colada” was unleashed unto a wider audience in the spring of year 2000. The old songs benefitted from better playing and better production and "Liberation" and "Have you been around" both became successful singles. Together with lead-off single "Someone special", they climbed the domestic charts and made Hardcore Superstar the first Swedish rock band to make it big in the new millennium. Pretty much the rest of the year was spent on the road. Hardcore Superstar played 169 gigs, including a European tour and visits to Japan and Canada.

– Those were our first proper tours, Martin says. Being in a tour bus for six weeks straight and getting to experience Japan was incredible.

Still on an adrenaline high, the band didn't waste any time making a new album. This time, the objective was to explore the possiblities of the recording studio to the max. If "Bad sneakers..." was a case of "wham bam, thank you, ma'm", the follow up "Thank you (for letting us be ourselves)" – released in September 2001 – was a meticulous piece of work. Hardcore Superstar's American seventies' classic rock record, if you will.

– That was our Aerosmith phase, Adde offers. "Thank you..." might not have been what people were expecting or wanting, but we wanted to stick our necks out. We really enjoyed taking our time and using all those expensive, vintage instruments. We even had a string quartet on there.

The album was recorded with producer Roberto Laghi at the helm. Halfway through the project, Hardcore Superstar got the chance to open for AC/DC at a sold-out show (more than 50 000 people) at Gothenburg's Ullevi Stadium. The band shared the stage with friends and fellow local heavy hitters Lok, with whom they'd recorded the single "Staden Göteborg" earlier in the year. The reworked punk rock song – written by the Troublemakers – was the theme song for the music event Popstad Göteborg and had received lots of air play. Supporting Angus Young & Co remains a career high point.

– AC/DC is the ultimate party band, Adde gushes. The music is about pure energy. That's exactly what we're trying to achieve with Hardcore Superstar.

As a huge bonus and ditto honour, the guys were invited to open for AC/DC in Turin, Italy, again a few days later. "Thank you (for letting us be ourselves)" spawned the singles "Shame" and "Mother's love/Significant other" ( a double A-side). The album and the singles all went top 20 in Sweden and Hardcore Superstar once again toured Europe and Japan.

A familiar pattern ensued. The band went straight to work – and the record turned out to be a very different beast to its predecessor. Released in the summer of 2003, "No regrets" was a sonically raw and decidedly more Britsih sounding affair. Misfits had always been a big influence, but spurred on by Roberto Laghi the quartet discovered, or rediscovered, bands like Buzzcocks, The Ruts and The Stranglers. The album was preceded by the single "Honey tongue" and "Still I'm glad" followed. Both made an impact on the domestic charts, but the latter's title was not a good description of the mood in the Hardcore Superstar camp. Quite the opposite.

The heavy touring and heavy partying had taken its toll and spirits were low. After yet another European tour, things became ugly when the band went to the US for selected shows. Hardcore Superstar attended a party thrown at the Swedish consulate in New York City, and Thomas Silver got into a fist fight with a journalist from Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet. The short tour was completed, but the members knew they needed time apart.

– We were so tired of each other, Adde sighs. Tired of everything that had to do with Hardcore Superstar. It could've been two of us getting into a fight.

Back in Sweden, Hardcore Superstar went on a hiatus. The decision was made easier due to the demise of Music For Nations. The future was looking very uncertain, but there would be a twist of fate. Adde inherited an old house and spent the summer of 2004 refurbishing it with help from Martin. When at work, the guys blasted classic albums such as "Appetite for destruction", "Dr Feelgood" and "Among the living" and found themselves smiling again.

– It was like a revelation, Adde remembers fondly.
– We just went "this is what Hardcore Superstar should be about!". We had drifted away from our roots, in a way. It was time to write music from the heart and not listen to anyone but ourselves.

Adde and Martin had a new album mentally mapped out from the word go, and the writing process that followed was smooth and enjoyable. When all four members reconvened after more than six months apart, the chemistry was there again. Sparks were flying at rehearsals and everyone was pleased with the new and heavier direction, the self-proclaimed street metal.

Hardcore Superstar knew they had come up with their strongest material to date. In order to keep the vision pure, the band enlisted friends Johan Reivén (ex-Lok) and Christian "Rizsa" Isaksson to co-produce the record (with Adde and Martin) that was to put Hardcore Superstar back on the map. No-one outside that inner circle was allowed to listen until the album was wrapped. As a teaser, the single "Wild boys" was released in June. But even such a strong song couldn't fully prepare the media and the audience for what was to come.

When "Hardcore Superstar" finally arrived on the Gain label – yes, the band was back "home" – in November 2005, jaws dropped. The album was given excellent reviews worldwide and songs like "We don't celebrate Sundays", "My good reputation" and "Bag on your head" – all three eventually picked as singles – became anthems.

The tour was a runaway success, with not just old fans turning out to celebrate the comeback.

– At last we appealed to the old school metal fans. It was so cool to have those long-haired and bearded dudes with denim jackets playing air guitar in front of us, Martin says with a smile.

The live power of Hardcore Superstar was captured on the dvd "Live at Sticky Fingers", recorded in Gothenburg in March. The band toured Europe, made two triumphant trips to Japan (including an appearance at the prestigious Loud Park Festival) and played a number of European festivals, including a rousing performance in a jam-packed tent at the Sweden Rock Festival.

Having found a musical style and "modus operandi" that worked, the band was eager to start working on its a new album. It was decided that Adde and Martin should once again handle production duties, with old conspirator Roberto Laghi engineering.

The single "Bastards", recorded as a one-off and released in the summer of 2007, proved this was a good idea. It went gold in Sweden and showed that Hardcore Superstar were still on a creative roll. Before going into IF Studio – the Gothenburg studio previously known as Studio Fredman but now owned by In Flames – to record the album, Hardcore Superstar played some festivals. The most remarkable thing was the return to Sweden Rock Festival, this time as support act to Aerosmith on the main stage. Filled with confidence, the guys didn't have a problem immortalizing their new songs. The idea was to build on the strengts of "the black album".

– We knew exactly what we wanted to do, Adde says.

The recording process was more enjoyable than ever, and you can really hear that we were super confident. Musically, we went for diversity. You know, making the hard stuff even harder and the choruses even grander.

"Dreamin' in a casket" came out in November of 2007 and showed that "Hardcore Superstar" was no fluke. The album became another big-seller and the band went on tour to support it.
However, all was not hunky dory. Thomas Silver had lost a bit of his fire and found it hard to be on the road.

At the end of the first leg of the tour, he announced that he was quitting the band. Losing a long-standing member was a heavy blow, but Hardcore Superstar came up with a solution pretty much on the spot. The young and talanted Swede Vic Zino – whose band Crazy Lixx had been the support act on the tour – was chosen to fill the vacant spot for the Australian and Japanese dates that were just around the corner.

The Bosnia-born guitar player did a great job and was asked to join the band on a permanent basis. After some serious thinking, he accepted.

– I co-formed Crazy Lixx, so parting with my childhood friends was a tough thing to do, Vic confesses. But I just couldn't turn down an offer to join Hardcore Superstar. Since the black album, I've been a big fan of the band.

With Vic properly on board, Hardcore Superstar played several European dates as well as some high profile Swedish shows. Selling out Lisebergshallen, the second biggest indoor venue in Gothenburg, was a high point.
There have been many in the ten-year history of the band – and there are many more to come.

The story continues...

The Top 5 Hard Rock and Metal Songs To Play A Your Funeral
57:10

This week The Loudini Hard Rock and Metal Circus takes a walk on the dark side as Loudini, Keith and Lily pick the top 5 Hard Rock and Metal Songs to play at YOUR funeral... not that we are expecting you to be departing this world anytime soon...so relax. It's just a "fun" topic. Or is it???   Featured Loudini Artists:   We Start Wars   Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown  Sons of Texas

We Start Wars
"The Animal Inside", the first song from WE START WARS, the new all-female group led by Nita Strauss, the Los Angeles-based guitar shredder for the ALICE COOPER band, can be streamed below.

Strauss said of the band's name: "A phrase I heard years ago has always stuck with me: 'Some of the greatest wars in history were fought over a beautiful woman.'

"I've always been fascinated by the idea of the female warrior, someone who fights her own battles and doesn't take shit from anyone, and equally fascinated with the concept that a woman's love or defending her honor would be worth so much that people would actually put their own lives and the lives of others at risk over it. The most famous story everyone thinks of first is, of course, 'The face that launched a thousand ships,' Helen of Troy. But there was also Cleopatra and Marc Antony, Attila the Hun's invasion of Rome, Richard the Lionheart rescuing his sister Joan of England during the crusades, General Wu Sangui's betrayal, which led to the downfall of the Ming Dynasty in the 1600s, and the Celts uprising against the Roman Empire in AD 60. The list goes on and on.

"So that's the story behind the name — WE START WARS represents not only the battles that women face in daily life, but also the battles that have followed them throughout history.”

Strauss previously stated about her decision to launch WE START WARS: "I've been wanting to be in this exact band since I started playing guitar, and after over a year of putting this together and auditioning musicians, finally ended up with an amazingly talented, hard-working and driven group of girls. I truly couldn't be more proud of how these songs are coming out."

WE START WARS will make its live debut on May 25 at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, California.

The band's lineup is as follows:

Nita Strauss (ALICE COOPER) - Guitar
Alicia Vigil (VIGIL OF WAR) - Bass
Seana (a.k.a. Shauna Lisse) - Vocals
Nicole Papastavrou - Guitar
Katt Scarlett (FEMME FATALE) - Keyboards
Lindsay Martin - Drums

Strauss told Ultimate Classic Rock about her new project: "I started writing music, and it turned into something that sounded like it needed to be a band. It didn't sound like something that was indulgent enough to just be like, 'This is the Nita show.' They sounded like band songs. I'm a band person. I might come across like kind of a show-off onstage and stuff, but I like collaborating with people. So I threw together a great group of girls. I thought it needed a great female lineup, and I think I've almost got it the way that I want it now."

Strauss recently released a brand new solo single titled "Pandemonium". Written, recorded and produced by Nita, the song features the axewoman on all guitar and bass, alongside her boyfriend and manager Josh Villalta on drums and Katt Scarlett on keyboards.

Strauss is a longtime Ibanez signature series endorsee who made her name with THE IRON MAIDENS, FEMME FATALE and LA Kiss.

Sons of Texas
There is nothing subtle about Texas. There is a reason why we use the term “Texas-sized” to describe anything in life that’s exaggeratedly large, from posteriors, to bong hits, to jugs of beer. This boldness, naturally, extends to the Lone Star’s musical exports, loud n’ proud legendary artists like ZZ Top, Pantera, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, among many others. Now, firmly in that cocksure lineage, is a mighty bluesy metal band from McAllen, Texas aptly named, Sons Of Texas.

The young quintet’s debut, Baptized In The Rio Grande—produced by the iconic Josh Wilbur (Lamb Of God, Crowbar, Chiodos, Hatebreed)—is a Texas-sized portion of power metal grooves, dazzling guitar solos, strip joint/tailgate sing-along choruses, and soulfully charred vocal melodies. It took Wilbur 20 seconds of a YouTube clip to recognize this young band truly inherited the gonads of its Lone Star forefathers and sign on to work with the quintet.

“We’re proud of being a Texas hard rock band, that’s everything to us,” affirmsrhythm guitarist Jon Olivarez. “Texas is the biggest state, has a great history of football teams, and an astounding music legacy.”

Sons Of Texas was spawned in McAllen, Texas, a valley town without the music legacy of Austin or Arlington. The scene vibes “music for music’s sake” with metalcore bands, blues-rock bands, and straight up rock n’ roll bands swapping members and sharing bills. Sons Of Texas solidified in 2013 around a lineup of local all stars. The group is Mark Morales, vocals, Mike Villarreal, drums, Nick Villarreal, bass, Jon Olivarez, rhythm guitar, and Jes De Hoyos, lead guitar.

Despite being just in their mid 20s, never having recorded an album, and having only existed for about a year, the guys play with seasoned authenticity and fiery brilliance. The guitar duo of Jon Olivarez and Jes De Hoyos boastthat classic rhythm and lead division of labor of Metallica’s Hetfield and Hammett, Testament’s Alex Sklonick and Eric Peterson, and Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine and Marty Friedman. Sons Of Texas has that rare gift of having a rhythm section of brothers—Nick and Mike Villarreal—so the grooves are telepathic and deeply in the pocket. And vocalist Mark Morales has a blood raw expressiveness evoking Phil Anselmo, Chris Cornell, and Zakk Wylde.

Baptized In The Rio Grande is an album for raising hell and enduring hard times. The record spans good old bad boy anthems like “Texas Trim” and “Baptized In The Rio Grande,” the stately ballad territory of the haunting “September,” and the dead end job-frustration of “Pull It And Fire.” The standout “Blameshift” showcases the guys have modern rock radio potential without sacrificing heft for hooks.

The past year has been a blessing for the Sons Of Texas. Inking a record deal and working with a producer of Wilbur’s caliber doesn’t happen for bands in the Rio Grande region of McAllen, Texas. Olivarez explains: “People always told us to move to Austin, but we stuck with our hometown and made something of ourselves. We take a lot of pride in being one of the first Valley bands to get these opportunities. “

Molly Kruse... The Luckiest Woman in Music Today!
18:07

Molly Elizabeth Kruse was born on 8/8/88 in Berkeley, CA, the luckiest day of the century according to Chinese tradition.

"I was the first baby born at Alta Bates Hospital at 5:58 in the morning, so a bunch of newscasters featured my parents and me on TV when I was about 15 minutes old! We still have the tape buried somewhere, I think,” she laughs.

Encouraged by her parents to work tirelessly on her voice, she began vocal lessons at age 12, leading to competing in vocal competitions, lead roles in musicals, and singing in school choir. This led to a degree in Theatre and Sociology at Indiana University. Molly moved to LA in 2012, getting her start in short films, commercials, and TV roles, but decided to dedicate herself completely to music.

Her first break came in early 2014 when she met renowned film orchestrator, Randy Kerber, which led to a meeting with Glen Ballard, the 6-time Grammy winner who produced Alanis Morisette, Aerosmith, Katy Perry and many more. Both quickly became early mentors and champions. Famous touring and studio musicians pepper Molly's album, including Jan Ozveren (Shakira, Charlie Puth), Rod Castro (Hans Zimmer, Raphael Saadiq), Benji Lysaght (Beck, Father John Misty), and Lemar Guillary (Outkast, Jennifer Hudson), among many others.

Riot V
Welcome to RIOT V (5)
The continuation of the legendary band RIOT!

Founding member guitarist Mark Reale hired bassist Don Van Stavern to join the band in 1984 during the end of the Born in America tour. The renewed formation featuring Mark, Don, Rhett Forrester and Sandy Slavin, then based in LA, played and label shopped to no avail so upon Rhett and Sandy’s departure Mark and Don headed to New York to regroup, write music and search for musicians!

With the Eighties developing into a metal-fest, a new-look new-sound RIOT bounced back transforming from an edgy hard rock band into a power metal assault and released the widely-acclaimed release ‘THUNDERSTEEL’ (Sony) and RIOT was reborn!

‘THUNDERSTEEL was followed by with the jaw-dropping conceptual album ‘THE PRIVILEGE OF POWER’ (Sony) featuring an elite list of guest performers (Rainbow’s Joe Lynn Turner, Tower of Power horns and Saturday Night Live band leader G.E Smith. Mark and Don’s idea was to capture the intensity of “FIRE DOWN UNDER” but on steroids! Ace drummer Bobby Jarzombek (Halford, Sebastian Bach, Fates Warning), vocalist Tony Moore and newly added axe man Mike Flyntz rounded out this power fury line up!
This line up went on to record on more album together “IMMORTAL SOUL” right before long time guitarist Mark Reale’s unfortunate passing.

Taking a couple years off regrouping and soul searching, Don Van Stavern and long time RIOT partner Mike Flyntz decide to “UNLEASH” chapter V (5) on the masses! Joining this dynamic duo are vocalist extraordinaire Todd Michael Hall, madman skin basher Franky Gilchriest and guitar whiz kid and former Mike Flyntz guitar student Nick “The Stick” Lee.

RIOT V (5) releases “UNLEASH THE FIRE” which entered the Hard Rock 100 Billboard charts at 75 and Rolling Stone Magazine gives it a 4 out of 5 and most media including Burrn! Rock Hard and Aardshock calling it album of the year!

Cellar Darling
Cellar Darling formed in the summer of 2016 out of the split of Switzerland’s most successful metal act to date, the chart-topping Eluveitie. The trio consisting of Anna Murphy (vocals, hurdy-gurdy), Merlin Sutter (drums) and Ivo Henzi (guitars & bass) therefore already looks back on a decade of touring the world, in 45+ countries on 6 continents. The winners of the 2014 Swiss Music Award as ‘best live act’ have experienced much together, forming a bond that can overcome any adversity.

After the split with their former band in June 2016, Anna, Ivo and Merlin quickly realised their musical journey was far from over and instantly began working on their own songs. What quickly developed was a unique and fresh combination of grand and heavy riffs, powerful drumming and a unique voice, with the signature folky, earthy tones of the hurdy gurdy, confidently fusing heavy alternative rock with strong fokly influences and poetic lyrical tales, creating what you may very well call a New Wave Of Folk Rock.

After a summer of intense songwriting sessions, Cellar Darling self-released their first single, 'Challenge' along with a bonus track ‘Fire, Wind & Earth’, in September 2016, to overwhelmingly positive reactions from around the world. Signing to Nuclear Blast Records in January 2017 was swiftly followed by 3 subsequent single releases, all met with a staggering support from the ever growing fanbase. Cellar Darling’s debut album ‘This Is The Sound’ was released on June 30th 2017.

Lyrically, Cellar Darling are storytellers. They want to carry you away into their world of music, awaking the spirit of the stories our parents told us before going to sleep, painting pictures with melodies, metaphors and poetry. Melodize the adventures of the human spirit, with all its mysteries and emotions.

The upcoming album promises to awaken your imagination and stretch your musical tastes.

Angela Soffe World Traveler and Mom of 3 turns Lemons into Lemonade with New Album
25:23

Angela Soffe is an Americana singer, songwriter, and musician. She is the lead singer and songwriter of the award-winning Angela Soffe Band based in the Pacific Northwest. Her latest album, 'Second Wind' is the result of a darkness-into-light narrative, and marks a brave return to music. Raised by American parents in Southeast Asia, the artist weaves a glowing musical tapestry inspired by the flavors of her past. The weighty topics of her new album are exquisitely offset by soothing musicality, an amalgam of folk, pop, and bluegrass with touches of new age and classical music. Throughout the album, Angela’s voice exudes a sweet emotional grace at the intersection of defiance, wonderment, longing, and vulnerability. Highlights on this soulful journey of an album include “Rocks,” “Freedom,” and “Second Wind.”

About
A Tribute Band to the Great Masterpieces
of the 80's New-Wave & Gothic-Rock

Snake Head Ritual
Snake Head Ritual are hard rock rust belt perseverance embodied. This is a band that has weathered adversity and triumphed more than once, and it shows in their particular brand of riff distilled rock and roll. Their music is perfectly aged in the oak barrels of revered tradition like Zeppelin, Sabbath and Thin Lizzy, buried deep in the oxidized regional midwestern soil of The Stooges, Cactus and early Grand Funk Railroad. Like their predecessors though, SHR realized that there was no room for pretenders or copycats, and while the path may be lighted by their forebears, Snake Head Ritual are anything but orthodox pentatonic followers.

The first thing one notes about the music of SHR is the passion and individuality of both the songs and of the songwriters, who do not cling to their influences like children frightened to let go of the side of the pool. Rather, Snake Head Ritual use their influences only as a momentary springboard for jumping into the deep end, confident in their own skills. The only option is to swim.

With two remarkable full length albums under their belt since their formation in 2012 and a recently revamped lineup, SHR are honing their already extensive setlist for maximum live impact. Having done several years of legwork to build a fervent and loyal following, both regionally and internationally, Snake Head Ritual have the swagger and the songs to dominate any stage or studio they come in contact with.

Snake Head Ritual is:
Kevin “Chez” - lead vocals
Bill McCullough - guitar
Josh LaForge - drums
Nick Contreras - guitar
Mahlon Orrin - bass, backing vocals

Meka Nism
Meka Nism is a metal band that is comprised of exquisitely talented musicians that seamlessly work in unison to create some of the most elaborate, unique and eclectic music on the planet. Members include, Meka (vocalist), Bobby Keller (lead guitar), Jarret Robinson (bass), Jay Adkisson (keys), and Christopher Lane (drums).

Meka Nism was formed back in 2006 and originated as Meka Nism and Her Rusty Tears. Meka was the former guitar player for Orlando punk legends Dirty Barby and Angel Autopsy, who enchanted audiences for years. Florida based Hidden Records quickly noticed her as being a unique talent and put her on their independent label. In 2006, “Mad to Love” was the first album recorded by Meka Nism and her Rusty Tears. The album was recognized as an exceptional artistic achievement of great beauty and passion. "Break," the second track from the album was the WINNER of the Songwriter's Showcase of America's (SSA) Best Experimental Song of the Year – 2006. Meka was also SSA's Solo Artist of the Month - January 2007. Explosive with enthusiasm, Meka made a scorching impact on the Central Florida music scene. She has a strong, loyal fan base, not only in Florida, but around the United States, in areas like Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, and many more.

In 2010, with the return of Meka from touring in Japan with over 150 shows, the movement to solidify the group as “Meka Nism” began and in March of 2013, the debut EP “The Dance at the End of the World” was released as the band’s first collaborative collection of songs as a unit. The theme behind the EP was based off of a world that was destroyed, desolate and in dismay. It was meant to uplift spirits to a higher potential out of negative situations and to bring them to light. The idea of playing their music as the world came to an end was the ultimate triumph, which was based on 2012’s prediction of the world coming to an end. The band also released their first music video for the single “Bring the Sun Back” in October of 2013. Meka Nism’s debut EP “Dance at the End of the World” was proof that new sounds, new excitement and new frontiers have not only been explored but have been claimed as their own unique voice in the music industry.

After touring and playing numerous amounts of shows in Florida and in the South East, opening for Mastodon at the Kink Festival, and a headlining House of Blues show, Meka Nism began the journey to start “The Shift”. The EP was successfully funded by a Kickstarter campaign back in 2014. Brett Hestla, former bass player for Creed and vocals for Dark New Day, was chosen as the producer and recording began back in October of 2014. “The Shift” was released on May 1st with a massive CD Release show at the House of Blues in Orlando, Florida.

2015 was a big year for the band in that they toured for a month with platinum award winning band, Trapt, all across the mid-west and east coast. Earlier in the year, playing the Texas Showdown Festival in El Paso, Texas, opening for the likes of The Offspring, Limp Biscuit, Upon a Burning Body, and more. Followed by a tour across Texas with Otep.

In 2016, Meka Nism got the opportunity to tour with the Swedish power-house and one of metal's biggest up and coming bands, Avatar. The two bands wrecked havoc across the east coast and mid-west before ending in Minot, North Dakota. Upon returning home, Meka Nism was named Orlando's #1 Metal Band according to the Orlando Weekly and was chosen to headline the local stage at the 3rd Annual Kink Festival opening for Evanescence, Hellyeah, and InFlames.

Nothing has seemed to slow down. 2017 has proven to be a big year for the band so far. They were given the slot to open the main stage at WJRR's Earthday Birthday 24 with the likes of Alter Bridge, Sevendust, Nonpoint, and more. The name of the new EP, "The War Inside", was unveiled and the plans of recording it in Germany with world renowned producer and engineer, Lasse Lammert, were announced as well.

Photographer and Painter, Carolee Rainey has a Ricky Lee Jones Epiphany and Returns to Music with a Passion
25:43

New York-based songstress Carolee Rainey has just released her incredible new single, “Empower” off her forthcoming album, ‘Feel Fearless!’ Fusing elements of legends like Rickie Lee Jones and Stevie Nicks “Empower” is an excellent first taste of what’s to come for Rainey, who explains:
“One day when I was working out on the treadmill I started writing this song I call ‘Empower’ because the TV on the treadmill was interviewing this lady who was talking about empowerment becoming a real movement and she totally inspired me. Now, I want to pay it forward and inspire all of you to take a deep breath just like I did and tackle some unfinished dream inside your soul fearlessly. I really want to hear what you come up with. Please share with me.“

You heard the woman! Turn up your speakers, take a deep breath, and prepare to be inspired. We can’t wait to see Carolee releases next! Keep up with Carolee on Facebook, Instagram and SoundCloud!

Long ago in an earlier lifetime of performing, I did a lot of busking, playing bars, hotels and cruise ships. There were publishing deals, almost record deals, voice overs in movies and a job as A&R for Atlantic Nashville out of LA. It was a wild and rambling time.

Eventually the tides changed, and I found myself immersed in a different life of painting and photography. I believe the solitude of being a painter and the exploration of a unique style of painting offered me a different perspective to songwriting. Not sure if it's an innate sense of restlessness or if the winds were just revving up again, but eventually I put the paintbrush aside in search of a different kind of canvas and palette.

At a particularly low point when I was sure the tide would never come in again, a friend took me to a concert. The me walking into that concert became transformed and re-ignited during those life-changing 90 minutes.

Diversions LA says in their February 2018 review, Carolee Rainey Tells Listeners to Feel Fearless. "Evoking comparisons with Stevie Nicks the songs on her potent debut mini-album reflect inspirational and empowering messages lyrically. The music is solid, strongly singable, and will delightfully lodge in listeners internal musical repertoire for a long time."

Rainey says she was inspired while attending a Rickie Lee Jones concert. She found Jones’ performance transformative, and immediately began to write her own songs. “It was the next stop on the train for me,” she says.

Philosophically, Rainey says she views life as a journey. She asks that listeners tune in to her songs because “they’ve got life, wisdom and lightness even if they can get lonely and dark.”

Tight backing musicians create magnetic listenable support to Rainey, including Doug Yowell, Richard Hammond, Thad DeBrock, Everett Bradley and Clifford Carter on acoustic piano and keys. The EP was produced by Grammy and Emmy award winning producer Robert L. Smith at Defy Recordings and Avatar Studios. in their February 2018 review, Carolee Rainey Tells Listeners to Feel Fearless. Big Dad Ritch came to prominence in 2004 when he co-founded the red dirt metal band Texas Hippie Coalition with John Exall. After being influenced by bands like Molly Hatchet, Pantera, and ZZ Top,[1] Big Dad Ritch and Texas Hippie Coalition became the founders of the red dirt metal genre.[2]

Guernica Mancini Front's Thundermother to World Domination
22:41

High energy, wild riffs and a sturdy groove straight from the 70’s – two and a half years after the critically acclaimed album “Road Fever”, Swedish rock’n’roll band Thundermother returns. And it’s a truly amazing return. Thundermother’s third album is simply one of the greatest rock records you’ll get to hear this year.

In the spring of 2017 Thundermother saw some drastic changes. Four members left, three new ones arrived. But the band’s center piece – guitarist and founder Filippa Nässil – stood steady by her vision. Around that vision the new line-up quickly gathered and every piece immediately fell into place. In June the new, upgraded version of Thundermother released “We Fight For Rock N Roll” – a single that was just as much of a statement as a taste of great deeds to come. After that they hit the road for a 20 dates long tour through Europe.

The highlight of the tour was the concert at Wacken. After touring with Michael Monroe, W.A.S.P, D-A-D, Danko Jones etc. and a sold-out European headline tour it was finally time for the band to conquer Wacken. Even though they they’ve only played together for a few months the show was a complete success for Thundermother’s new line-up.
