Fostering Change with the Shine Project
55:22

Today we talk with Ashley Lemieux, a writer-speaker, and Founder of The Shine Project. She is an ambassador for change in this world. As an entrepreneur, she employes inner-city youth giving hope and life to the underserved.  Ashley shares her personal story regarding the abuses in the foster care system, and how this had directly affected the lives of her and her husband Mike, and their two children.

We want to help bring awareness to all of the babies and children who get lost and mistreated. The only way we can make a change is to start the conversations, and then take action. We need to know the stories so that we can use our anger as fire to fuel change. We can do better, and together will rise up and use our voice for the half a million children in the foster care system. For more information on what you can do, please visit The Shine Project.

Are you perfect? Are you worthy?
36:04

Brene Brown says that “when perfectionism is driving, shame is riding shotgun and fear is in the back seat.” Striving for perfection is really an attempt to hide shame, or seek approval from others. It becomes a veil that we hide under.  Its the question that we hold in our psyche that says “what will people think” In this episode Brene Brown shares examples of armor that can become clues.  If we catch ourselves in these situations, we can turn them around.  Gossip is a biggie, we all fall into this trap. We criticize those who are putting themselves out there in an attempt to mask our own insecurities. Being Argumentative, Controlling, always apologizing, defensive, cynical. are just a few coverups for shame. We both felt an enlightened moment when Brene said that “Perfectionism is one of the most contagious types of armor. If you have it you are passing it down!” We agree that in our efforts to do better and be better, this is a trait we want to understand fully so that we can set examples of authenticity to our children and grandchildren.

Transforming the unimaginable into something more
01:04:03

Today we interviewed Bre Lasley. On September 23, 2015, she survived an attempted murder. Listening to Bre recount the events of that evening, sent chills through our bones. It's hard to imagine the horror that climbed through her window and changed the course of her life.

Sharing our stories, and showing how we climb out of the darkness is transformational. The residue of pain left over from a tragedy never goes away. It's like a scar that becomes part of our skin. The goal is to grow a new life around the wound, to expand beyond our darkest moments. Bre shows us how her real battle began after her attacker had been killed by officer Ben. Fighting back isn’t always physical. Self-defense is so much more than hitting, kicking and biting. Bre tells us that our mental state and beliefs, as well as our spiritual connections,  are more compelling than punches. She shares the statistics that say 80% of women don’t fight back. Bre continued her fight and survived on hope and love. She will share with us how love saved her and her sister. Love for each other and for the promise that there was a future that needed to be lived. She has turned her story of horror into a story of honor and hope.

The Magic of a question Part 2
16:26

In Part 2 we talk about prayer vs. meditation and go over daily questions you can ask yourself to check your spiritual pulse. We also dive into the big soul questions and share our thoughts and beliefs.

We believe that asking the right questions is the secret sauce for growth and shifting our perspective.

Its kind of like real life magic when you get this right. The universe has a way of showing up and answering the mysteries hidden in your bones. It's also is a gauge to show you where you are in the physical, mental and spiritual arenas.

The magic of a question
42:58

This is a two-part series where we talk about the questions from you our listeners.

We tackle Destiny vs. Free will and share the work of Joe Dispenza and quantum physics.

"All potential experiences exist in the quantum field as a sea of infinite possibilities, when you change your electromagnetic signature to match one that already exists in the field your body will be drawn to that event, you will move into a new line of time or the event will find you in your new reality."

Confidence is the bridge to evolution
36:45

Confidence is the bridge to evolution and having the courage to take the first step. It's a very personal pilgrimage throughout life. It's an inward dance that requires self-reflection and courage to navigate. It is born from fear but watered and fed on courage.

Vulnerability isn't weakness
39:27

In this episode, we discuss vulnerability and how it relates to social media. We have expanded our reach around the world through our internet connections. There are so many great life hacks, connections, ideas, and dreams that can be shared. People have the ability to create an income from their phone. We have access to apps that make our businesses run smoother and organize our lives. We can talk into a speaker and ask for a playlist, or recipe or ask for the weather in Iceland. While this is exciting and helpful and evolving daily, there are major pitfalls that we have to allow for. How do we balance vulnerability and online sharing? How do we use this space consciously? What do we do about online bullies and trolls?
