4534

Hello ModernJeepers, welcome to Episode Number 25 of The ModernJeeper Show… the show about Jeeps, Jeeping and Jeepers.

This week, in a very rare occurrence, Corey is not calling in from the road, but is actually in studio with Matson at Metalcloak World Headquarters in Northern California.

After covering where we’ve been and what Corey’s upcoming CTI Tour Schedule is like (it’s crazy) we are joined by Metalcloak’s media director, and ModernJeeper partner, Scott Becker to talk about the Rubicon trail, Jeepers Jamboree, skateboarding, ultralight backpacking and our upcoming ModernJeeper Adventure on the Rubicon Trail.

And then an unexpected guest crashes the party as Milestar’s Martin Castro just happened to show up at the shop while we were recording the podcast and we couldn’t let him go without bringing him into the conversation.

Martin shares with us what he’s doing in Northern California, why the Patagonia’s perform so well, how the Patogonia’s are easily overcoming the consumer skepticism, why they are going to be the first company with a 40” All Terrain tire for the light truck market and when they are going to have a 42” MT.

And, of course, we have another great Tech Tip of the Week. This week we discuss managing & choosing the extra equipment, tools and spare parts you need when on trail.

You can find helpful links to many of the things we talk about in this episode in the show notes at ModernJeeperShow.com

As always, ModernJeeper is extremely grateful to our supporters including Warn Winches, Raceline Wheels, Bestop, Milestar Tires, Rugged Radios and, of course, Metalcloak.

So, sit back, relax with a cold one, and enjoy Episode number 25 of The ModernJeeper Show…

Hello ModernJeepers, welcome to Episode Number 24 of The ModernJeeper Show… the show about Jeeps, Jeeping and Jeepers.

This week is another special Flashback Episode. Back when ModernJeeper was just a nascent website and the idea of a podcast was just a whim, Matson interviewed several industry leaders while at the 2015 Off Road Expo in Pomona, California.

Each interview was about 30 minutes long, and was conducted from a table at Metalcloak’s 20 x 30 booth right in the middle of the show and you can clearly hear all the action going on around us.

In this Flashback Episode, Matson is joined by John Herrick, the man who saved CRAWL Magazine and has successfully published it 6 times a year since resurrecting it in September 2009.

John shares with us how he went from selling toxic loans to Wall Street to owning CRAWL magazine, the basic fundamentals of business success, how to keep your brand engaged, what his favorite trail is (hint it's in West Virginia), why being irrelevant scares him, his favorite Jeep, why your passion grows his passion, how 70 hours a week building the magazine is easy work as long as he's doing it for you, what you should consider if you were going to start your own magazine, what products at Off Road Expo he is most impressed with and the answer to our favorite question of the day… “finish this sentence… Metalcloak Is…”

Hello ModernJeepers, welcome to Episode Number 23 of The ModernJeeper Show… the show about Jeeps, Jeeping and Jeepers.

This week is all about Patriotism.

In another Random episode Mr. ModernJeeper, Corey Osborne, and Metalcloak's Matson Breakey discuss Independence Day, Patriotism, and what the 4th of July truly means.

Corey and Matson delve into the definition of Patriotism, why you can get just "get it done" in a place like Idaho, loving good old Americana, why it is easier to live in a Nanny state, why Corey thinks Matson need a goat, the strangeness of weather in America, the craziness of the upcoming #CTITour schedule, where Corey is going to be next, why we celebrate Independence on July 4, why signing the Declaration of Independence was like committing suicide, why it would be impossible today, why we're a Republic and not a Democracy, Matson’s Federal City Theory, American patriot Roger Penske and Corey’s Challenge to us all.

This week we forego the popular Tech Tip of the Week so we can share of few memories of the recently lost Kevin Carroll of Red Dot Engineering. A true ModernJeeper who lived his life with standards we should all strive to achieve.

Corey & I talk with Axel about how he got started, why we call him the “mad planner”, why he is driven to do what no one else would dare to do, how vendors tend to miss the mark at trade shows, what this year’s UOR schedule is like and why Crystal beach is definitely not family friendly.

Finally, we will have our Tech Tip of the Week and how it applies to Axels’ 25 year old Warn winch.

As always we are extremely grateful to our partners including Raceline Wheels, Warn Winches, Bestop, Milestar Tires, Rugged Radios and, of course, Metalcloak.

So, sit back, relax with a cold one, and enjoy this episode of The ModernJeeper Show.

Hello Modern Jeepers and welcome to Episode Number 4 of The ModernJeeper Show… this week we have an incredibly special guest… the newly minted 3-time King of the Hammers, and the first ever Back-to-Back winner, NorCal Local Legend Jason Scherer!

Corey & I have a great conversation with Jason on a wide range of topics including how he stays physically fit, the extraordinary diet we had no idea he was on, who he thinks is the best Ultra4 driver in the rocks, how he keeps his team motivated, what he does to stay hydrated and healthy while racing, managing radio comms and split times, how he ended up with a Fox wrap this year and, finally, catheter or man diaper?

Finally we will share with you our TechTip of the Week and get some great insight from Jason on not only how it applies to his race car, but to his CJ-6 and this Truck and Trailer as well…

3493

Hello Modern Jeepers and welcome to Episode Number 3 of The ModernJeeper Show… this week is something special because Corey is sitting in the middle of Hammertown at the 2019 King of the Hammers with a couple very special guests… Kevin and Brittany Williams who rocketed into Jeep super stardom with their Lite Brite YouTube Channel where you can follow their adventures with the JLUR affectionately and appropriately called the Red Headed Step Child.

Kevin and Brittany share with us their impressions of KOH, how a single roaring rock bouncer won the Shootout, what happens when you lend them a Polaris RZR, why following your passion matters, and their secret to a great YouTube channel.

Finally we will share with you our TechTip of the week including tips from Brittany & Kevin, who is quite the Jeep Whisperer…

As always we are extremely grateful to our partners including Raceline Wheels, Warn Winches, Bestop, Milestar Tires, Rugged Radios and, of course, Metalcloak.

A note about this episode, because of technological challenges with Corey in the middle of a lakebed with pumped in Internet, this episode has a few quirks including volume changes, some skipped dialogue and lots of ambient nose including the greatest sounds of KOH… the race cars.

So, sit back, relax with a cold one, and enjoy Episode number 3 of The ModernJeeper Show…

Hello ModernJeepers, welcome to Episode #2 of The ModernJeeper Show, the show about Jeeps, Jeeping & Jeepers. And thank you for your great response to our first episode.

In this episode Corey & I open the show discussing his tech geek background, how he chose climbing rocks over breathing underwater, how I convinced my wife to buy me a Harley, and why I’m known as the office biohacker as well as the chief Jeep abuser.  Yes - the stories are true.

We also share some insight into the Gladiator, the Jeep truck including rumored order dates, why the tow capacity is lower on the Rubicon and how much rock can we throw into the bed.

And as if that was not enough, we learn how the Milestar Patagonia’s do in the snow, discuss the spectacle that is King of the Hammers including it’s daily schedule of events, and when you can see the famous Jeep Truck racing in Johnson Valley.

Finally, we get to our new segment, the Tech Tip of the week.
