E19: It's ALL Communication. The Truth About Business & Negotiation - Brandon Voss

Brandon Voss is the Director of Operations & Training for The Black Swan Group. Raised in New Jersey, his background consists of tough life lessons learned in the city - and the contrasting experiences with his father’s family in the midwest. His role with the BSG consists of wearing many hats, but specifically he works in content creation, sales, handles financials, plus works in coaching.
Currently the Black Swan Group focuses on negotiation and communication coaching, plus keynote speaking, as well as running a few virtual courses.
Brandon shares that he’s always been a people person: he loves to meet people, and talk about communication challenges. He would have (initially) said his purpose was in-line with his father’s, teaching people to “deal with bullies”, but it goes beyond that. Brandon loves helping people who are sick of struggling with the same hurdle, or sick of getting “beat up” in situations where they could take a powerful position.

E16: Side-Hustle to Full-time: It’s Never Too Late to Start - Mike Simmons

Mike Simmons is a husband, and father of three. He is a huge proponent of multiple streams of income and runs or is involved in several different businesses: Return on Investments (an acquisitions & wholesaling company), he’s a coach with HouseFlipping HQ and 7-Figure Investors, runs the Just Start Real Estate podcast, as well as a real-estate focused bookkeeping company.
Mike didn’t start his entrepreneurial journey until in his late 30’s, when he realized that if he continued on his current trajectory (in the automotive industry) he would literally never be able to retire. He explains how the pain of his situation finally became more than he was willing to put up with, and he used that (and his stubborn competitiveness) as the driving force behind his hustle.
Mike’s passion and drive is his family. He wants to make them proud, and leave a lasting legacy for them for generations.

Big Points:

  1. The pain of the situation you had is oftentimes the bigger motivator -use it!
  2. It doesn’t matter if you spend ALL your time on something if the time you’re spending isn’t quality. What matters is the IMPACTFUL time you spend on something.
  3. Don’t quit your day job! You DO have time for a side hustle, quit your Netflix binge, or sleeping 12hrs a day. Use the time after work (even late at night!) to build your side-hustle until it can support you. Be aggressive with it!
  4. Just start. Fear will paralyze you, and everybody feels fear! Regardless of how “ready” you are there will be setbacks, so just start.
  5. Take the time to rest and refresh so you can be 100% at whatever you’re doing

E01: From Flipping to Fulfillment Driven Entrepreneurship with Justin Williams

Justin Williams is a real estate investor who lives with his family in San Clemente, CA. Has been flipping and wholesaling houses for over 12 years, and over that time has flipped more than 800 houses! (his business was flipping about 100/yr). He is the founder of House Flipping HQ, and 7-Figure Flipping Mastermind.

Justin’s passion for business started when he was very young - he was obsessed with earning money and what having money grow - he remembers one of his first business opportunities came from convincing his aunt to take him to Costco to buy bulk candy, and then sold it around the neighborhood.

After building his real estate business to the point where it was very systemized and only required him to work a few hours a week he started feeling anxious (and actually a bit depressed) and realized he was looking for what was next - and the fulfilling next step for him was to give back. Justin has great wisdom in real estate investing, but he has incredible insight on overcoming limiting beliefs, the incredible value of education (both paid and free) and balance of life and goals.
