Embracing Our Sensitivities

Do you seem more sensitive than most people or have been accused of being too sensitive most of your life?

Or maybe you just want to know how to communicate more effectively with the highly sensitive people in your life?

Then this episode is for you! In it, Amber and Tammy chat about the traits of highly sensitive people or HSP's, our challenges and our super powers, and she gives a ton of great advice on how we can thrive in this world that seems like it's not meant for us.

Tammy Goen is a self love and happiness coach for us Highly Sensitive People. As an HSP she knows firsthand what it’s like to feel misunderstood, unaccepted, overwhelmed and needing to be fixed. She’s felt the shame and struggled in relationships and felt totally incapable of dealing with the atrocities of life. And in spite of it all she has learned how to thrive… how to love herself and embrace (and enjoy) her sensitivities and all that life has to offer.

Using her degree in Counseling Psychology, her certifications in EFT/Tapping, HeartMath meditations, other meditation and mindfulness practices and energy healing techniques she helps others do the same.

Tammy has a ton of great offers and even free resources available on her website.

She even has a Guide for Highly Sensitives to communicate with non-HSPs!

Get the guide here.

And, as with most of my podcast guests, Tammy is available to connect with personally in Ambers Facebook group "The Dragonfly Connection". Hop on in, and tag her in a question or comment. If you're not already a part of it. It's free!

Episode #100

This is Ambers 100th podcast episode and the topic was formed from a PTSD flashback she had the night before recording.

Amber uses PTSD and CPTSD interchangeably, but there is a difference. The main difference between the two is PTSD usually occurs after a single traumatic event, while CPTSD is associated with repeated trauma. Amber has CPTSD.

In this episode Amber shares her experience with PTSD and the lessons learned from this latest flashback - her first one in almost a year.  One of her biggest lessons this time was how PTSD has affected her relationship with food and her struggles with maintaining a healthy weight.

Amber talks a little bit about EMDR experience in which she calls a miracle treatment for trauma. If you're unfamiliar with what EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is, it's a psychotherapy treatment that enables you to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that come with trauma. Here's an EMDR website that describes it.

Here's the link to the NIH study and article she mentioned: The Weight of Traumatic Stress: A Prospective Study of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Symptoms and Weight Status in Women.

If you'd like to do your own research, just Google "weight gain and PTSD", or "weight gain and trauma". There are a ton of studies and theories. Most come down to healing the pain that the trauma (or traumas) created and stored in your mind and body. It can't be buried, ignored, or swept under the rug. That pain will surface in all kinds of ways and will create things in your mind and your body that will hold you back in life. It may not hold you back completely, but it will prevent you from living a fully experienced life.

Excess weight and the (seemingly) impossibility of losing it may not be how unhealed trauma shows up for you, instead it may be one of the following....

  1. Anxiety or panic attacks that occur in what would be considered normal situations
  2. A feeling of shame; an innate feeling that you are bad, worthless, or without importance
  3. Suffering from chronic or ongoing depression
  4. Practicing avoidance of people, places, or things that may be related to the traumatic event; this also can include an avoidance of unpleasant emotions
  5. Flashbacks, nightmares, and body memories regarding the traumatic event
  6. Addiction and eating disorders in an attempt to escape or numb negative emotions
  7. Sleeping issues, including trouble going to sleep or staying asleep
  8. Suffering from feelings of detachment, or feeling "dead inside"
  9. Dissociation to disconnect in situations and conversations
  10. Hypervigilance - a constant feeling of being on guard Suicidal thoughts or actions
  11. Uncontrollable anger
  12. Self-harm, cutting, and mutilation
  13. Not being able to tolerate conflicts
  14. Unexplained or irrational fears of people, places, or things

Amber has personally experienced 14 of these at different times in her life and along her healing journey. And, now today, due to her deep healing work, out of that 14, she only still experience 5 of them on occasion. If she can do it, so can you!

So now it's your turn for some self reflection. Get yourself a piece of paper or your journal, write down the following questions, and answer them. If you're working with a professional healer, coach, or therapist, you're highly encouraged to share the answers with them.

  1. Do you recognize any of the symptoms or experiences in that list of 15 above in yourself?
  2. Where are you stuck in life - what area(s)? Health, Career, Relationships, or general Fulfillment? Be specific!
  3. What kind of support do you need? From what or who? What does that look like?
  4. Have you found tools that help you? If so, what are they and why aren't you using them? If you are using them, why aren't they working?
  5. How do you celebrate your wins? Is it something that you feel benefits you - like if it effects your health negatively, you might want to find another way to celebrate?
  6. Why do you start treatments/programs/plans meant to benefit you mentally or physically and not finish them?
  7. What do you think is holding you back from living your best life?
  8. What can you do to change or eliminate those things all together? Really give this one a hard think.
  9. Where have you found the most success so far in your healing journey?
  10. Who inspires you the most on your healing journey? Follow that person. Read their books or publications. Listen to them. Watch them. Learn all you can about them. But, please for you're health, don't put them on a pedestal or make them your guru. Learn from them.
  11. What are the top 3 things you have done to help yourself?
  12. What is one thing you would say to someone you love who feels the way you feel about yourself and your life when you're feeling low?

Now say that last one to yourself! Maybe even turn it into a mantra. Put it on your mirror. Say it every day.

You are worthy and you deserve to live a joyful, peaceful, full, healthy life!

Self-awareness is so huge when it comes to helping you get there! So, why not take some more time for yourself and answer these questions? Then re-commit to becoming more self-aware and getting to the bottom of what's holding you back!  What happened to us in the past doesn't have to have a big negative impact on our present and our future. True healing is possible for all of us.

Inner Work

Ambers guest today is Rachel West, and this is her 2nd time being on the podcast. Rachel is a Holistic Personal Growth Coach, Best Selling Author and the Founder of "Empowering Growth". She is also a Domestic Violence Victims Advocate and Community Health Worker.

Rachel focuses on helping others with mindset improvement and their mental health with a specialty in addiction. She has a belief that you must do the inner work, if you ever want the outer to work; and understands first hand how releasing negative mental, emotional and behavioral programming helps you feel, hear and see new possibilities simply by shifting your thoughts so that you can achieve the results you dream of at a much higher level.

One of her favorite quotes is from Stacey O'Byrne, "Choice is a powerful thing, suffering is always optional".

Sometimes in our lives horrible things do happen, tragedies, traumatic experiences - things that are truly not our fault, and sometimes things that we don't have actual recognition of because they happened to us as children...or even to our ancestors. Those things/events have the potential to wreck havoc in our lives when just left to run amok in our subconscious.

If left buried and untreated, they can lead to mental health challenges as well as addiction. In this episode, that's what the focus is - the buried emotions, the untruths we tell ourselves, and the programming...the roots of the problem. Then Rachel shares some ways to heal those things in your life and how to help others. Because, suffering is optional. We can all choose to start our healing journey or not.

So, even if you haven't been touched by addiction in your family like Rachel and Amber have, this episode is one you need to hear...if not for you, for someone you care about. Then go share it with them! There's also a really easy self-awareness tool buried within their conversation that you can start using today.

All the ways you can connect with Rachel are listed below. If you join The Dragonfly Connection Community on Facebook, you can ask her questions directly. It's a free group, Amber created to help us stay connected and empowered on our healing journeys.

Language of Love

It's still Mental Health Awareness Month. But, after last week's episode where Amber talked about some heavy topics, we decided to go a little lighter...but, the information in this episode is still helpful for your mental health. And, Ambers guest Bethany has a loving, sunshine energy that's just good for the soul.

Bethany Nicole is back for a second time and this time we're chatting about the 5 Love Languages, based on work and books by Gary Chapman. Bethany is an LA-based author, freelance writer, and relationship expert.

She's also the creator of "Written In The Stars" Relationship Sessions where she uses alternative healing modalities to work on your deeper layers - the subconscious, astrological, energetics, and even karmic layers to get to the root of what's really going on in your love life, to create long-lasting benefits, and to build long-term connections.

And, Bethany also uses the 5 Love Languages in her work and on herself.

Amber is a huge fan of the 5 Love Languages and believes it's one of the things that's kept her relationship with her husband as solid as it is. They were fortunate to get the original book as a wedding present and have been using it and the concept since they first realized they didn't have the same love language.

Whether or not you already know about the book, you're in a romantic relationship, wanting to be in one, or happily single; this episode is for you. There are actually Love Language books for everyone and can benefit all types of relationships...even the one with yourself.

Here are the main Love Language books:

The 5 Love Languages: The Secret to Love that Lasts

The 5 Love Languages Singles Edition: The Secret that Will Revolutionize Your Relationships

Grief Lessons

"Grief can often feel like being quarantined. Now, it’s even more so. Grieving is hard and isolating even at the best of times, and unfortunately, we are far from the best of times."

That's a quote from a piece written by Ambers guest today, Kevin Ringstaff founder of PetCloud - grief support services for pet loss.

Now if you're not a pet owner, that's ok, this episode is focused on grief in general - the stigmas around it, the process, and ways to help ourselves and others.

Kevin has been a student of grief for many years. He's been through several grief certification programs over the years and he's currently studying to be a Board Certified Hospital Chaplain. He spends his days talking about grief, creating activities and products around grief, and listening to the grief stories from people all over the country.

PetCloud is his first company, created to help those who are going through the loss of a pet. A direct link to this website will be below. He's currently seeking stories about pet loss for his upcoming podcast. If you're interested, you can connect with Kevin through his website or on social media.

Emotional Freedom

"We are never going to grieve ourselves into happiness"

You may remember Penny's episode from last season called "Habits of Happiness", named after her signature program.

Penny has been involved in the health care field for over 40 years.  She's a beloved massage therapist in Portland, OR, and an EFT Practitioner. Her work is client-centered because she knows how unhelpful and even damaging it is to not be heard, or have your feelings dismissed. She tries to be as much coach and cheerleader as therapist, empowering clients to discover what works for them on their journey towards healing; and to encourage clients take a journey of unfoldment beyond just the cessation of their pain.

In this episode she and Amber talk a lot about EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) or tapping. It's a healing method we're starting to hear more about, but it's still pretty misunderstood. So, in this conversation today; we dive deeper into it's origins and how it can be used for everything from physical pain to mindset. It's also a great stress and anxiety reliever!

Penny describes some of the points that you could start using today after you listen. After listening, head over to her website to learn more and take advantage of all her free content - including tapping videos. She's also listed in Ambers  holistic health and wellness directory, You might be able to snag a promo code or something!

Generational Healing

Ambers guest today, Beverley Danielle met on Instagram...which is actually the way she's connected with about half of this shows guests.

She was inspired by Beverley's beautiful posts and business name. So, being the curious being she is - of course, she wanted to know more! And, in this episode, she got her fill. Not only is Beverley a lovely human, helper, Life Coach, and Fitness Instructor; she also works for the criminal justice system.

She is definitely very well rounded!

Beverley began her spiritual and healing journey in 2012 after dealing with several of her own health issues. She realized she was disconnected from herself and her life needed a major overhaul. Along the way she learned how to heal her generational trauma, love herself and find work life balance as a single mother. Now she uses that wisdom along with her life coach teachings to help others reach their highest potential.

And, recently she just started her own podcast, titled "Keep Going Soulful", where she and a co-host talk all about self-love, planning, astrology, and life. If you're looking to add another podcast to your library, check it out!

Allow What Is

Sit back and get ready for an hour of hope, inspiration, and a ton of great wisdom coming from today's guest, Susan DeLorenzo.

This is Susan's 2nd time on the podcast, because Amber really enjoys chatting with her, and she's a listener favorite.

Susan is a transformational life coach whose focus is on helping others who are emerging from life-altering adversities. She guides them to evaluate the insights and wisdom that these times hold. She believes our dark moments hold amazing "gems" which we can use to elevate our lives.

Susan is a cancer survivor, which seems to be a part of a many of Ambers guests stories lately. She doesn't specifically seek out conversations with cancer warriors. But, it's understandable why they would be the people who use their stories to then help others. Cancer is big and scary and even if we ourselves don't get it, we're bound to be touched by it through others at some point in our lives.

Susan, like many of Ambers guests who have overcome some big obstacles, draws upon her personal journey as well as her professional training to help others. Susan's specialty is teaching mindset and tools to help us rebuild our lives in alignment with our deepest desires. Susan is also the author of the upcoming book, "Pulling the Gems from Adversity", which they'll talk about a little towards the end. It's kind of a surprise ending too!

Keep Moving Forward

Today's guest Terry Tucker says a ton of inspiring things in this episode, but this is one of Amber's favorites, "What we leave behind are the things we weave into the hearts of other people."

It's her favorite because it's what this podcast is all about - weaving inspiration, healing, and empowerment into your hearts. This short episode will leave you and your heart full of all three and more!

Terry is a cancer warrior helping others get and stay motivated; keep moving forward no matter the circumstances and improve their lives in general through his stories and wisdom. He has been an NCAA Division I college basketball player, a marketing executive, a hospital administrator, an undercover narcotics investigator, a SWAT Team Hostage Negotiator, a high school basketball coach, a business owner, a motivational speaker, and most recently, an author. His book, "Sustainable Excellence, Ten Principles To Leading Your Uncommon and Extraordinary Life" is just one of the ways Terry practices what he preaches - the importance of stepping out of your comfort zone. Terry has also been featured in some magazines and loves to share his encouraging words and wisdom wherever he can - his website and social media have a ton of free resources available.

Unlike many of Ambers past cancer warrior guests, Terry is not out of the woods. He is currently fighting cancer again. And, like you'll hear him say, he does have bad days; but he doesn't let that stop him. He keeps moving forward, using his story to help others.

After listening today, please take a moment to send some good vibes and prayers his way. I'm sure he wouldn't mind you reaching out either -  maybe send him some encouraging words and wisdom....

Robert Foster is a successful entrepreneur and a competitive athlete. But as an overcomer, he also knows what it’s like to struggle through hardships. At the peak of his career, Robert became an All-American athlete, but that narrative came tumbling down when he encountered what could have been a career-ending injury. And, while medical professionals had strong doubts that the he would ever bounce back from his injury, Robert proved them wrong and came back stronger than ever. Hence the hashtag and title of this episode "Ignore The Never". Now he helps other people develop resilience and confidence by helping them find the power in their own personal stories.

Getting Unstuck

In today's episode Amber and her guest, Marina Yanay-Triner, will be talking about trauma and the body again...because honestly, there's always things we can learn about it. We all have experienced some sort of trauma and that trauma likes to hide out in our bodies.

Marina calls herself the compassionate somatic coach. Her passion is helping people who are disengaged with life, burnt out and checked out by using body-based somatic approaches to support a connection back to the body; strengthen their connection with their instincts and intuition, and flourish!

This is similar to what Laura Rowe, from episode 3 of this season, titled "Embodiment" talked about, AND also different. Both of their messages are so fascinating and important!

As a trauma-informed coach, Marina works with clients to go deep into the roots of behavioral patterns that hold you back from experiencing life to its fullest. She helps you look at and explore childhood-rooted beliefs, emotions, behavioral patterns, and the unconscious so you can experience life with more joy and aliveness.

In this episode Marina explains what "trauma informed" means and how working with a professional who is trauma informed is really important. She also explains why the pandemic is so triggering for so many of us!

Along with some very helpful tips to help you on your overall healing journey, she shares a very easy, yet powerful method to settle your nervous system next time you're feeling anxious. If you're looking for more, she has a ton of free resources on her website

Amber highly recommends working with her or any practitioner who specializes in somatic work, especially if you're finding that talk therapy or other methods just aren't getting to the heart of your struggles.

If this all resonates with you, please share with your people. Tis the season of giving. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!

You can connect with Marina on her website, and find great resources and tips on her Instagram and Facebook pages.

"Listening became my modality"

That's one of Ambers favorite quotes from her guest, Daniel Bruce Levin. The other is posted on her Instagram page

Daniel is a visionary, activist, speaker, and storyteller.

He has a very interesting life story with many twists and turns, but the one that stands out the most may have been when he walked away from an opportunity to run a billion dollar business. BILLION!!! He chose to hitchhike around the world to find happiness and inner peace instead.

Daniels travels took him to a country where he studied in a seminary for five years (but then left one day before becoming a Rabbi). Then when he came back to the United States, he joined a yoga community, which led him to his life as a Monk in a monastery for 10 years. And, those are just two examples!

It seems this guy has lived a hundred lives already! He was once even the Director of Business Development at Hay House bringing them from $3,000,000 a year in sales to $100,000,000 a year in revenue.

Now his focus is helping other to "learn how to see what they can't see".

He is the author of The Mosaic, a life changing fable that invites people to listen to those others do not hear and to see the situations in their life differently.

Daniel is truly a rare gem in this crazy world. His storytelling is entertaining and inspiring. I hope you enjoy it as much as Amber did.

Thriving In The Midst Of Adversity with Tracie Root

Ambers guest, Tracie Root, is a coach, a speaker, an educator, and founder of Gather -  a community building space located in Santa Cruz...and now also online to serve everyone no matter where there at in the world.

Her story is one of loss, love, rebuilding, courage and finding ways to thrive in the midst of all kinds of adversity.

Tracie ended her career in corporate America and found her new calling after her partner of almost 20 years passed away. Tracie and her two toddlers were left with no family nearby, a house “underwater” from the housing crisis of 2008, and she just couldn’t see how anything was going to change.

Then, years later, through an unexpected avenue, she was able to find her way back to her former step at a time. She shifted her career to one of helping others at a deeper level while making more time for her own fulfillment, adventure, and joy.

In this conversation she and Amber chat about wellness, goal-setting, entrepreneurship, overcoming tragedy and loss, and of course; this last 18 months of pandemic life.

This episode was recorded in May, and unfortunately, now at the end of August, not much has changed...except kids are going back to school in most areas. But, otherwise, we're still in a place of confusion and uncertainty.

Hope this episode helps inspire you and bring you hope. Because, we will get through this; and if we let this challenging time strengthen and change us, we'll be better for it.

Like Tracie says, "everything that happens in life is so we can be ready for what's next".

Live Out Loud with Heather Phillips

"The stories we can tell ourselves are way worse than what's actually happening..."

Heather Phillips is a long time friend of Ambers. They're friendship blossomed through shared struggle starting almost 10 years ago...and lasting up until just a couple years ago. They endured major momma heartache together on an almost daily basis, while watching their two teenage sons go down some very bad paths together...and separately. During that time, they learned a lot about each other and themselves as mothers and helpers.

Heather is recently an empty nester trying to figure out her own "new normal". In this episode you get to listen in on them picking up where they left off before everything was shut down in March of 2020. Heather was the last person Amber had a coffee date with before all our lives changed in an instant.

Over this last 18 months, like many of us, Heather has made some huge changes in her life...with weight loss surgery top of the list. Healing Trauma with Tabatha Bird Weaver

As far as the pandemic goes, things are starting to look up. People are coming back out into the light...with longer hair, and the Covid 15. People seem more hopeful and excited for the future, but at the same time, we're shell shocked. It feels a little like what I would imagine coming out of a bomb shelter after a war would feel like.

We've got a lot of healing to do!

Everyone's level of hard was different this last year plus, but we've all been through some hard stuff. Even if it was just having to watch other peoples suffering. There is a level of trauma we've all experienced in one way or another.

So, it's fitting to bring back an episode titled Healing Trauma, from Ambers old podcast The Holistic Healing Connection. Before she rebranded and changed the focus.

Her guest, Tabatha Bird Weaver blends talk therapy methods, energy healing and chakra work for a total holistic healthcare experience.

Tabatha is a dually licensed psychotherapist.

Tabatha has earned memberships & awards, spoken nationally, lobbied for families and therapists in Washington D.C. and created several programs for the State of Oregon agencies.

She has worked in the foster system and in family/marriage counseling. She's trained to diagnose and treat mental health disorders and is also trained in multiple energetic healing methods.

Her passion is helping adults heal from trauma, particularly from childhood or narcissistic abuse, and helping overwhelmed empaths and those experiencing codependency behaviors.

In this episode you'll learn how trauma manifests itself in your mind and body, learn ways to heal, get some tips on boundary setting, and even get a guided meditation to use in those moments when you're feeling frazzled and need to strengthen your boundaries.

This episode first aired October 12, 2019, but it's still relevant today.

Growing You with Rachel West

Rachel West said something during this conversation that we know will resonate with many of you. She said, "The #1 person we lie to the most is ourselves, so just be honest with yourself!".

Sounds easy, right!?!?

But for many people it's not. Lies to stay in relationships, whether friends, romantic or even family. Lies about choices that are bad for your more cupcake isn't gonna hurt?!?!

Have you told yourself and others that you're "OK" when you're really NOT "OK"?

We don't know why people do this, but I bet it's some kind of avoidance technique. It's a way of not having to look at the stuff outside of our comfort zone.

But, that's exactly how we move forward....heal...and live happy, fulfilling, successful lives. We must face our stuff, learn self awareness, and step out of our comfort zones.

And, that's what Rachel and Amber are talking about today...

Rachel is a Personal Growth Coach, Breakthrough Expert, Speaker and Author of "The Successful Woman’s Mindset: Unlock The Secrets of Success, Activate Your Power".

Rachel grew up surrounded by people with addiction and mental illness and her own diagnosis of a learning disability, which really held her back in life. But, once she learned how to shed that label and the fear of others judgement; she discovered her life's purpose and now she's doing what she loves - helping others live more fulfilling authentic lives.

It all starts with choosing change over comfort!

Rising Above with Lori Anne Rising

"I need to be me. This is my life."

Ambers guest Lori Anne Rising grew up in an emotionally and psychologically abusive home. And, as what is common, she entered a marriage that was similar.

It took her 49-year-old mother having a brain aneurysm, to wake her up; beginning her journey of healing and putting the pieces of herself back together. The journey continued after her divorce through the use of EMDR therapy.

And, Lori Anne said it's what really made the most impact in her healing!

Through this work, Lori's intention was to heal herself and build a better life for her kids. But, In a dark ironic twist of events, it was that healing journey that, she believes, sparked a chain of events that lead to one of the most painful things she, as a mother could have imagined.

In this conversation you'll learn more about the darkest parts of Lori Annes story and then we'll learn how she was able to rebuild herself and her life. Not only is she living her purpose and passion; she now helps other women reconnect with their purpose and live a joy-filled life. Reflections with Ilene Leshinsky

"Your body will lead you to health and wellbeing"

For three decades, Ilene struggled with Body image, weight, and her relationship with food.

During a big chunk of that time, she also practiced as a clinical social worker, working primarily with women who were struggling with issues similar to hers. They came to her with feelings of depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, and unresolved traumas. They  hoped that if they could change their bodies, all of these things would magically disappear or at least become less significant.

In her own words, she says, "they were wrong - and so was I"!

Ilene embraced what is now called intuitive eating - or the belief in the body's innate wisdom. She made a commitment to her own self-care, and shifted to focusing on health and wellbeing rather than the size of her body.

She quit dieting, embraced intuitive eating, and developed a program to help other women find their innate body wisdom and their path to body freedom.

After listening to this episode, if this story resonates with you, like it did for Amber; you may want to pick up a copy of Ilenes brand new book, "Reflections of a fat girl, Wisdom Lost and Found from Growing Up Overweight.

Love Yourself For Where You're At with Wendy Bjork

As is the case with many of Amber guests, Wendy Bjork stepped up to be the support she wished she had had when she was first diagnosed with MS (and for those that don't know much about MS or multiple sclerosis; Wendy is happy to be a resource).

Her favorite quote is "I am not a product of my circumstances, I am a product of my decisions", by Stephen Covey. And, man does she live by that quote!

MS is a confusing disease with many different symptoms...all of which could really mess your life up!

At one point Wendy was having daily symptoms and felt like she was a medical guinea pig -  very disempowering!

But Wendy, the MS Warrior Queen, chose to take charge and focus on her mindset, faith and healing through holistic methods. Once she figured out how to bring herself back to wholeness, she wanted to help others do the same.

She's now written a book, and is currently creating another book in collaboration with others. She also created an extensive program to help women fill in the gaps in care that leave them feeling lost and unsupported (Learn more below).

She said, "when I decided to look for other answers, there wasn't one simple solution. I now want to be that resource and link arms with them on their journey to wholeness."

Although Wendy's focus is helping those with MS, and it's talked about in this episode, her story is inspirational in general. Whether you're going through a scary medical diagnosis, or not, you'll enjoy listening in on this conversation.

Please share this episode and Wendys contact info with someone you know who has MS. It could really make a difference!

"Life is what happens while you are making other plans."

Boy, ain't that the truth!

If we could all live by that philosophy and go with the flow, life would feel a lot lighter.

This is one of Victor Barreda-Pazos' favorite quotes, and after listening to our conversation, you'll understand why.

This was actually the second time doing this podcast, as the first one just went 'poof' into some cloud somewhere. But, rather than get upset; Victor said "I am sure there is a reason why I didn't get recorded. The next one will be even better!"

And he was right.

The connection was a poor at times, but Amber made it work - putting her editing skills to the test. She did a great job!

This conversation includes Victors story of immigration to the US, Career Changes, Marriage, and most importantly (or life changing) fatherhood. Victor is an inspiration and his journey is a testament to what can unfold for you by following your heart and your passion.

Not only is Victor a good person, teacher, and father, he's also a Massage Therapist and Watsu practitioner.

Expansive Life with Kristine Rosenquist

You know when you have to make a decision and your inner voice is saying, "Yeah, this is right for me!"; But, everyone else is saying, "What the hell are you doing?!"?

This is a dilemma very familiar to Kristine Rosenquist. But, Kristine is really good at saying she's going to do something - such as making a move, changing careers, starting a business, finding a soulmate partner...then actually doing it.

And, to those watching; it may seem to happen very quickly.

Like one of her favorite quotes from Mary Oliver says,

"I did think, let’s go about this slowly. This is important. This should take some really deep thought. We should take small thoughtful steps.

But, bless us, we didn’t."

No matter how quickly or slowly it takes you to make a decision; It's all about paying attention. Pay attention to those thoughts that come in, telling you it's time for a change. Do the research, be still so you can hear your intuition, then take action.

Kristine says, "Learning to listen to this inner knowing and taking action has time and again, given me the confidence to step out of my comfort zone and just go for it, whatever "it" may be."

When Amber first met Kristine, she was a single mom with a successful massage business she had grown from scratch and writing a memoir of her journey through drug use, a failed marriage, and becoming a single mother.

Things were going well for her and her business until she was hit with some medical issues, forcing her to quickly change careers. In true Kristine form she started a new business - one which is doing quite well, as you'll hear about in this episode.

Not only is she still working on her memoir; she's also in the process of writing a television series.

During that time of career change, she also decided that she was ready to find her soulmate partner after being single for many years...and to no surprise; he practically just walked right in.

Kristine says, "Life is not supposed to be a struggle. You're not supposed to be constantly fighting against a current that's holding you down. Life is expansive and beautiful and wonderful if we pay attention to what's coming in to our world."

And, we couldn't agree more!

Wherever you are in life, figuring out where you want to live next, changing careers due to the pandemic or something else, struggling to just keep going, looking for a romantic partner, needing some inspiration, or just seeking a story that will bring you joy, this episode will deliver.

Vanessa holds a degree in Counseling Psychology, which you will learn in this episode came in pretty handy when she was forced to navigate the death of her father while birthing a business.

The work she's talking about is the healing work, or healing journey. This applies to all professions, not just those in the wellness industry.

Unfortunately there are a bunch of professionals, many in services fields, walking around with open psychological wounds, bleeding all over people.

Trial By Fire with Lyn Delmastro-Thomson

A 2019 BMJ Quality & Safety Report found that over 12 million adults who seek outpatient medical care receive a misdiagnosis, or 1 out of 20 adult patients.

Ambers  guest Lyn Delmastro-Thomson is a mind-body medicine practitioner, author of the Amazon Best Seller, "You Are Not Your Diagnosis"; and the unfortunate recipient of a major medical misdiagnosis.

Lyn was misdiagnosed with leukemia at the age of 25, and while struggling to get doctors to listen to her, she was also hit with the tragedy of losing a loved one. This series of events inevitably changed her as a person, and put her on a career path to helping others on their own healing journey.

She shares how she dealt with all of it, and how her traumatic experiences showed her her own resilience, the resilience of her body, and just bodies in general.

Her passion is helping others live healthier happier lives, and inspiring them to make sound medical choices. The message she want's everyone to hear, is that just because a doctor has said an illness is "chronic" or "incurable"; doesn't mean that it has to be a life sentence, and that western medicine isn't the only approach to healing.

No matter what you're going through right now, get ready to be inspired and empowered to make changes and to become an advocate for your own health and life.

Regardless of what your story has been and still is, you'll get a lot out of this conversation- helping you move forward as we all navigate the new world we're living in.

In this episode, Ash does a reading from one of her most recent blog posts about healing. What a treat!

"It's normal to gain weight as you age."

"I can't lose weight no matter what."

Once she began focusing on balancing her hormones and metabolism through this powerful energy technique; the weight loss became so much easier. Today she is glowing with health and vitality, along with a greater store of energy for the things she loves to do.

This type of healing can happen for most of us-we just need to start listening to our bodies.

This conversation is talking about all of that plus inevitable transitions and change that we all must face in life.   Gail admits she wasn't always so spiritually and energetically "together". As she grew into having more of a relationship with her higher self, Gail became more confident and started living within her own inner integrity. Safe Alternatives To Opioids
The Opioid crisis has effected Amber and her family in very profound ways; and in this episode you'll find out why it's one of her soapbox issues.    Her family is not alone!    According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), every day more than 130 people in the US die after overdosing on opioids. In the late 1990's, pharmaceutical companies told the medical community that patients would not become addicted to prescription opioids for pain relief, and healthcare providers began to prescribe them at increasing rates.  By 2017, more than 47,000 Americans had died as a result of opioid overdoses.  That same year, an estimated 1.7 million people in the United States suffered from substance use disorders due to prescription opioids, and 652,000 suffered from a heroin use disorder (heroin is an opioid).  Statistics say 21-29% of patients who are prescribed opioids for chronic pain-misuse them; and It's estimated that 4-6% who misuse prescription opioids transition to heroin. The NIH and HHS (Department of Health and human service) are looking at ways to help put an end to this crisis. But, what about holistic and alternative methods? Are they paying attention???    Doubtful.  There are so many ways to help relieve, manage, and even treat pain conditions that don't include harming our bodies, or further risking our health.    Among Amber's personal favorites: Chiropractic, Massage Therapy, Acupuncture, Diet, Physical Therapy, Watsu, Craniosacral Therapy, Reiki/Energy Healing, Herbs, Cannabis products, Essential oils...   The list is extensive. Practically every healing method that you can find at will have an effect on your pain levels. And, most are harmless.    Email Amber if you'd like to share your story at She may even ask you to be a future podcast guest.    Information and stats for this episode were taken from:    Learn more about Amber and her mission at and   Ambers on social media too!   By Participating in this podcast you agree that this is not a replacement for medical services and are encouraged to seek immediate medical care if needed. Just One Life

Annabel Fisher spent her life helping heal and inspire others. She called herself "The Breakthrough Coach". When you listen to this episode, you'll understand why.  Annabel was first diagnosed with stage four Ovarian Cancer in 2015. In August of 2018, Annabel was given two months to live. Rather than wallowing in self pity (for too long); this scary diagnosis gave her a different, even more beautiful and inspiring, perspective on life. Annabel goes into detail about her very real journey through cancer and how mindset and gratitude really helped her make the most of her life in her last months. She even contributes it to helping her live much further beyond her prognosis A quote from Annabel, found on her Facebook page says just that;  "There are ALWAYS diamonds to be found. No matter how crappy the situation, I can dig a little deeper and choose to interpret the situation in a different way. That is something I DO still have - the power to choose" This and so much more is what you'll take away from this episode.  Much love and thanks go out to Annabels friend and fellow holistic practitioner Lyn Delmastro-Thomson for sharing this interview with us. Learn more about Lyn at Stay to the end to hear Annabel choose cards from her very own "make your one life count every day" deck-closing with a special message of kindness, love and inspiration.   Annabels Facebook page is filled with love reflecting back to her from those she's touched. Here's one of our favorites: If you have questions about Annabel please leave them in the comments and Lyn or Amber will follow up with you.
