Acupuncturist Andrea Thorpe on harnessing your hormones and the power of Chinese medicine - Part 2
3472

We are back in Catt's bedroom with acupuncturist extraordinaire Andrea Thorpe of Sage Wellness Within.  This is Part Two of our deep-dive into Chinese medicine and acupuncture, so if you missed Part One, head on back to learn a bit about Andrea's background, the history of acupuncture, and what landed Catt in Andrea's office last year.

In this episode, we go DEEP into understanding how our bodies work -- and what you can do to start addressing your own imbalances. Using the questions many of you submitted, Catt asks Andrea about the healing (and destructive) powers of the food we eat, how our hormones work, treatment for fibroids, the ebb and flow of our sex drives, and so much more. Also, Andrea shares some simple advice you can start implementing today! Like, consider swapping kombucha with fermented vegetable juice -- it has all the gut-healing powers without all the sugar!

And, Catt shares an update on her own health journey, as she combines diet, herbs and acupuncture to restore physiological balance.

Acupuncturist Andrea Thorpe on harnessing your hormones and the power of Chinese medicine - Part 1
3150

Taking a break from her bustling acupuncture practice at Sage Wellness Within, Andrea Thorpe stopped by Catt's bedroom to give us a primer on acupuncture, herbal medicine and listening to our bodies.

Andrea shares how she was first exposed to acupuncture as a patient -- when she sought treatment as an undergrad in college because she felt both "tired and wired" all at the same time. This turned out to be a transformative experience, as it not only made her feel exponentially better, but spurred Andrea to trade in a linguistics career for one in acupuncture. She also discusses the historical and spiritual origins of Chinese medicine; how she specializes in treating female patients in ways to improve overall health, hormone regulation, and fertility; and what her initial evaluation of Catt's own physical state was when she sought help from Andrea a few months ago.

Also, in this episode, Catt talks about being bloated, fatigued and feeling at wits end last year -- until she met Andrea.

3912

Cozying up with a warm cup of coffee on a rare gloomy L.A. afternoon, Nick LaKind -- Catt's partner for the past three years -- sheds his pants and his usual comic front to reveal his compelling life story.

From losing his dad at a young age, to being expelled from high school in Beverly Hills and lashing out against authority, Nick talks about how his upbringing shaped much of his adult life. He also shares some insight into his decision to get sober, and he and Catt re-live their first date -- at an AA meeting. The two also take time to answer YOUR questions about their relationship, how they met (spoiler alert, on the Raya dating app), what Nick thinks of Catt's drinking, and why sex and food play such an important role in their lives together.

Also in this episode, Hillary opens up about enduring a traumatic birth experience and the importance of having a strong support system.

And, Catt shares a bit about the seeds of her own career success. She talks about being a perpetual "good girl" growing up in Indiana, and how her passion for acting and journalism began at a very young age.

Also, Diane shares the inspiration behind her recently released book, Represent: The Woman's Guide to Running for Office and Changing the World, as well as some how-to tips for anyone out there looking to run for political office.

Damsel in Dior's Jacey Duprie on the power of therapy and the pitfalls of pregnancy
4475

In our very first LIVE TAPING of the show, Jacey and Catt get NAKED in a very public forum. Speaking at the brand new Pvolve fitness studios in NYC, the two real-life besties put it all out there in this very candid conversation about their careers, motherhood and maintaining a decades-long friendship.

Jacey is a blogging pioneer who has expanded her media empire from her Damsel in Dior website to include a thriving social media presence and even a brick-and-mortar store in LA. But Jacey shares a lot more than insight into her entrepreneurial endeavors -- she talks about growing up in a tiny town in Texas where her father was a cotton farmer; how she despised school and struggled with ADD; and why she decided not to share how miserable she was during pregnancy -- until this conversation!

Also in this episode, Catt and Jacey share what it was like growing up in families that struggled with alcoholism.

You don't want to miss this one!

And one note: While Catt PROMISES during the interview to share all the info about the bodysuit she's wearing, sadly, that covetable piece didn't make it home to LA. It's whereabouts are UNKNOWN as are its details.
