Great idea for a podcast thank you so much. Johnny was an icon my wife an I Love it we just listened to all your podcast heading down the shore this weekend. We forwarded to family and friends . God does the world need Joan Rivers


For 30 years, Johnny Carson reigned as the King of Late Night, entertaining the nation each night with celebrity interviews, hilarious monologues, and wacky comedy sketches. By opening the curtains for up-and-coming comedians, Johnny launched the careers of some of the biggest names in comedy including Jay Leno, Jerry Seinfeld, and Ellen DeGeneres. Drawing from the official library of Johnny’s TV show, The Johnny Carson Show weekly podcast will feature entertaining clips selectively curated by Johnny’s Tonight Show producers. Join host and comedian Wil Shriner who will provide a behind-the-scenes look and insider’s view of the show and its guests. Teacher/Astronaut Christa McAuliffe talks with Johnny about her upcoming launch on the Space Shuttle Challenger

Christa and Johnny talk about how she was selected from more than 11,000 applicants to become the first teacher in space. She discusses her plans to teach lessons aboard the Space Shuttle and conduct experiments and demonstrate to the world the wonders of space. Six months after this episode aired, tragically, the Space Shuttle Challenger broke apart upon take off and McAuliffe and her fellow astronauts perished in the disaster. In her honor there are over 40 schools named after Chista. This teacher's true love of space and education truly made her our first civilian astronaut.

 Oprah Winfrey’s first appearance on The Tonight Show  with Johnny on February 21st, 1986, when she had just launched The Oprah Winfrey Show and was promoting her new movie, The Color Purple, for which she was nominated for an Academy Award. In this episode, Oprah discusses her talk show success and how she feels comfortable in front of the camera. Frank proudly displays his quail droppings jewelry and brings an extra special gift for Johnny. In a hilarious Mighty Carson Art Players skit, Johnny plays President Ronald Reagan in a spoof of the classic "Who's on First" Abbott & Costello comedy routine.  In the opening monologue, Johnny discusses prayer in schools, the EPA, and the Clean Air Bill.
