Description

Polar Talks forms part of The Polar Music Prize, one of the most prestigious and unique music prizes in the world, crossing musical boundaries and awarded to individuals, groups and institutions in recognition of exceptional achievements. The Polar Music Prize is held annually in Stockholm, Sweden and was founded in 1989 by Stig “Stikkan” Anderson, writer and founding Manager of ABBA. The first recipients of the prize were Paul McCartney and Baltic States. The 2015 prizes were awarded to singer-songwriter Emmylou Harris and percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie. Polar Talks are a collection of verbal 'jamming sessions' which have attracted a variety of inspirational speakers from around the globe, who cover hot topics including the power of music, advances in technology, trend-spotting as well as as of course including fascinating stories from the Polar Music Prize Laureates themselves, all in a series of panel discussions and debates. Whilst being centered in Stockholm, Polar Talks have been held internationally, growing year on year and evolving into what is an international think-tank, with a foundation in the creative industries.
