171: How to Deal with Network Marketing Haters #AskBob
26:25

Are you an ‘under cover’ network marketer? Are you scared of what people will think of you?

Today, I have four questions from our listeners which, in summary, is about how to deal with network marketing haters.

Listen – I was once a network marketing ‘secret agent’ myself!

I had started my network marketing business while I was working fulltime in medical sales, and I was SO scared of what my colleagues would think of me!

I honestly thought if they found out I was in network marketing that they’d lose respect for me.  So, I kept it ‘under cover’ for the longest time.

Can you relate?

Here’s the thing - If you’re holding on to negative beliefs about being a network marketer → you’re going to get negative results in your network marketing business!

So, in today’s podcast, we’re going to talk about that limiting belief and the mindset you HAVE to have to be successful in this business.

Also, in this episode, I’m going to leave you with a few prospecting tips and growth strategies to help you in your network marketing business.

Just a reminder for everyone…

If you have questions, text me at (215) 608-1454, and let me know what do you need help with, what issues are your struggling, and what topics you want me to cover in future episodes.

170: {Biz Tip Friday} Are Your Teaching Your Team Too Much Stuff?
12:37

You need to ask yourself this right now: Are you teaching your team WAY too much info? Are you overtraining your team?

A common mistake that a lot of leaders make in this profession is OVERHELMING their team with too much information and training.

“Hey! Watch this video! Listen to this podcast! Read this book! Join this team call!”

Yes, personal development is a very important part of our profession. However, too often it results in overwhelming our team, especially new people.

The more we teach and train our teams the less focus there will be on the basic actions and core principles of the business that will create the beginnings of success.

Always remember this: Personal development does not come from overtraining people. It comes from taking the information, learning from these resources, and putting them into action.

In today’s Biz Tip Friday, I’m going to tackle 3 critical components for success and how to train without overwhelming your team.

169: How She Did It: Stuck for Over 4 Years to 293 New Team Members in 1 Month!
58:07

Join me in a talk with Amy Triplett, who went from feeling stuck and hitting rock bottom to adding 297 new team members in a single month!
Amy’s passion for systems led her to earn 6-figures, but moving to the next level seemed a struggle, and Amy found herself stuck in the same rank for 4.5 years.

She implemented more systems, thinking that ‘more’ of what had worked for her already was the key; however, she did not see the results she craved so much.

She was at her lowest ebb, feeling like a fake, totally unworthy – and heartbroken at having failed her whole team. She was almost ready to quit.

At that point she came to me, and I could see that it wasn’t WHAT she was doing that was the problem – it was her thoughts and BELIEFS about herself.

If you’ve ever felt stuck like Amy, and you feel like you’re still doing EVERYTHING you should be doing, I want you to know this….

It’s not your actions you need to work on – it’s your BELIEFS.

Amy is one of the best students in our Legacy Leadership Academy and recently graduated to our Next Level Leadership Program. She and I worked together over the next 90 days using the Formula for Transformation that I teach as part of our Legacy Leadership philosophy.

She worked SO incredibly hard to master her thoughts and mindset. And her progress was truly ASTONISHING.

In June, she added 297 new members on her team, and FINALLY reached her next rank – the second highest in her company. Plus, her team had 32 other rank-ups, across many different legs.

It was Amy’s best-ever month – and she’s still going from strength to strength.

Amy joins me today to share her story, why mindset is the key to getting unstuck, and how implementing The Formula for Transformation led her to success.

168: {Biz Tip Friday} Is it Possible to Build 2 Network Marketing Businesses?
14:38

Are you considering or currently attempting to build downlines in 2 different network marketing companies at the same time?

In today’s Biz Tip Friday, I’m going to make the argument why I believe that’s not a good idea.  In fact, I believe it’s almost IMPOSSIBLE.

Here’s WHY - It’s not EASY to build one ultra-successful business!!!

It takes an incredible amount of FOCUS, DISCIPLINE, and CONSISTENCY to build one successful network marketing business. When you try to build multiple businesses, you are dividing the amount of time and focus you have to dedicate to their growth.

In today’s podcast, I share why building 2 NM businesses is a formula for disaster, how to overcome the ‘grass will be greener’ trap, and why taking responsibility and commitment is your key to success.

167: The Downside of Creating Leaders through Placement
29:41

Is PLACEMENT a good idea to ‘build or create leaders’ to help you hit your rank advancement goals?

In case you’re not familiar with the term, “placement” is when you strategically enroll someone YOU’VE recruited under another person on your team.

So, you can place your recruits to help your leaders grow their teams fast ... which means they hit their goals sooner…AND you hit yours.

Sounds great right?

BUT…

I’m telling you, if you use it the WRONG way, this strategy can DESTROY the culture of your team.

When you start manufacturing leaders “in name only” like this, without them having to go through the hard work and personal growth to reach their new rank organically ...

…you can be building a ‘house of cards’ that can come tumbling down at any moment.

And YOU’RE the only one busting your butt every month to keep it all from collapsing.

Believe me, I’ve been there – and it’s a miserable existence.

Placement if used the right way - with boundaries and clear expectations - it can be a great strategy. And in this week’s podcast, I talk about the RIGHT and WRONG approach to placement, the key factors to consider when placing people, and how to use this strategy to grow and develop the leaders in your team.

166: {Biz Tip Friday} What to Say on a Phone Call with a Prospect
21:24

Getting on the phone with a prospect dramatically increases your chances of success in recruiting someone.

In fact, this is one of tactics that I used to build my own successful network marketing team!

My goal was to get someone on the phone either BEFORE or during the follow-up after a 3rd party tool.
But the big question I’m always asked is: What do I actually say on the call?!!!

In this week’s Biz Tip Friday, I share with you my 3 guidelines of what to say and what to NOT say on the phone with a prospect, what your goal should be for the call, and why you shouldn’t be the EXPERT and instead be the SOLUTION.

165: How to Lead the Less Motivated People on Your Team
32:23

How can YOU, as a leader, motivate ‘the hobbyists’ on your team so that they begin seeing themselves as real business owners, and start building their impact and results?

Here’s the reality when it comes to leading a team: You're going to have different people with different levels of motivation and commitment.

The vast majority of your people struggle with fear and overwhelm. They keep busy with passive activities that don’t get results, and when they do take action it’s haphazard and inconsistent.

They’re not committed or motivated to grow. Frankly, they’re not treating this as a business at all – they’re struggling hobbyists.

So how can YOU, as a leader, motivate these people to see themselves as real business owners, and start building their impact and results?

On this week’s podcast episode, I’m going to share with you a fail-proof method that I used in my business and that I now teach to my students ...

… that not only motivates and encourages even the least serious to commit to their own growth, feel great about their accomplishments and build their personal integrity so they learn to trust in their own success …

… it also makes EVERY team member feel welcome, valued and able to WIN, no matter what their level of commitment – which is KEY for retention and your team’s long-term growth!

I promise you, when you implement this method, your whole team is going to  be crushing it in no time!

164: {Biz Tip Friday} The Truth About what it Takes to Rank Advance
12:00

Here’s the truth about rank advancement:

The people on your team that got you to where you are today are most likely NOT going to be the ones who get you to where you want to go.

Many leaders fall in what I call the ‘Management Mode’ trap. They start to build a team, see a level of success, and then they HIT A WALL.

Once they reach a level of success, they shift almost all their time and efforts on helping the people on their team become successful and they stop doing the things that got their team in the first place - prospecting, sponsoring, and training new people.

In today’s Biz Tip Friday, I share with you a simple, but very important business building concept - how to break free from management mode, and why recruiting and developing is the lifeblood of your business.

163: The Power of Belief
47:43

Do you struggle with inconsistency in your business? Do you ever hear “I’m not good enough” running through your head?

A belief is something you know with absolute certainty. It’s a thought that you’ve decided, consciously or unconsciously, is the truth. Your beliefs are the force that underpins every single action that you take in your business and in your life.

And, if you believe deep down that “I’m not good enough,” all your experiences will be tinted with that belief – which means everything you see, hear and feel will support and CONFIRM that you’re not good enough.

And because the story of our beliefs drives the behaviors that create our results …

Every ACTION you take will help recreate that limited and limiting reality.

Simply put, our beliefs become the lens from which we see and experience the world.

The problem is all of us have LIMITING beliefs, and limiting beliefs guarantee limited results.

If you struggle with inconsistency in your business, without a doubt, it’s a belief issue.

The big question is - How do we change these limiting beliefs?

Join me in this episode as I break down the types of beliefs and the actual steps you can take to shift these beliefs and begin creating a level of success and fulfillment in your life you’ve never experienced before.

162: {Biz Tip Friday} Are You Taking Credit for the Failures in Your Business?
08:41

One of the biggest challenges so many of the members of my leadership development group take on is falling into the trap of taking credit for the failures of their team.

I see it happen time and again – we, as leaders, grow our team, and then we get discouraged when our team members are not seeing success. We begin to doubt ourselves and thinking that we are not good leaders.

If you take the credit for the FAILURES of your team, then my question is, did you also take credit for their SUCCESSES?

I want you to know that if you have everything in place and you support your team, and if somebody fails, it is NOT your fault.

In this week’s Biz Tip Friday, I’ll share with you exactly how to change your thought process in this area and build your confidence as a leader.

161: My 3-Step Mid-Year Goal Achievement Plan
41:02

You CAN still reach your goals for 2020 (even if it’s not going great so far!)

The first half of this year was a little bit crazy, and you might just be questioning if you can even achieve your goals you set for this year….

Well, I’m here to tell you that YOU CAN.

Today, I’m giving you my 3-step mid-year goal achievement plan that is going to help you regain focus and achieve your goals.

And in this week’s pivotal podcast episode, I’m going to show you exactly HOW.

See, the reality is, when most people set out to achieve a goal, their mind right away starts asking “What do I need to DO to get there?”

But this is the WRONG question – because it gets you stuck in play-it-small activities and tactics based on what you know has worked in the past.

Instead, I truly believe the secret to ACHIEVING your goals (not just setting them!) is to let go of “doing” and ask yourself this.

“Who do I need to BE in order to reach this goal?”

Success is a matter of BEING, not doing.

That’s why, in the podcast this week, I want to take you through my simple and incredibly powerful 3-Step Plan to help YOU start creating from your future, successful identity – and achieve things in the second half of 2020 you never thought possible!

160: {Biz Tip Friday} My #1 Tip for Overcoming Objections
16:05

In this week’s Biz Tip Friday, I want to give you my #1 tip for handling OBJECTIONS from prospects.

It is human nature for people to question things and have objections.

However, when your prospects have them, it means that at some level there is interest….but there is also concern.

I want you to shift your mindset from feeling like objections are bad to knowing that, in all actuality, objections are GOOD!

The reason why most people struggle with objections is because they immediately REACT instead of intentionally RESPOND. Our first instinct is to automatically get defensive when a prospect gives objections.

The key here is to approach objections with the mindset of a CONSULTANT. You must learn to ask clarifying questions and dig deeper into the actual reasons for their objections.

This should be your first response! Asking questions to learn more. Not getting defensive.

When you do this, you’ll be surprised how many people will give you the real reason why they are voicing concerns and objections.

159: Leadership is Repetition
25:09

As leader, there are 2 key principles you must remember when implementing a new system on your team.

You’ve done all of the hard work of creating a system, one that hopefully duplicated successfully throughout your team.

But, the REAL work begins once you’ve created the system.

Humans are creatures of habit and new systems can be ignored or challenged.

To successfully implement a new system – especially an onboarding system – as a leader, you must follow these two principles:

- You must fight for SIMPLICITY

- Leadership is REPETITION.

When you do these two things and teach them to your people, your business is about to become a rocket ship.

Get ready to experience massive momentum and exponential growth by listening to this week’s podcast!

158: {Biz Tip Friday} The Secret to Running Successful Virtual Events
11:01

Do you struggle getting people to show up to your events?

Would you like to double or even triple the amount of people attending, not matter if the event is virtual or in person?

First and foremost, you need to understand that people don’t attend events for two reasons:

  • The person hosting the event doesn’t invite enough people, or…
  • You and your team have weak invitations

Most meetings, virtual and live, fail because the host doesn’t put in enough work. You need to put in the time and effort of inviting people and getting their commitment.

As the leader running the event, it is your job to set expectations upfront and to hold everybody accountable.

In this week’s Biz Tip Friday, I’m going to share my secret strategy to double or triple the number of people attending your events…regardless if they’re virtual or in person!

157: How do I Find Rock Stars for My Team? #AskBob
22:55

Welcome to another episode of #AskBob! Today, we are going to answer the question which every single network marketer wants to know: “How do I find rock stars for my team?”

Well, here is the secret about leaders – You don’t need a rock star.

We all have this false belief that leaders are found. That they’re just out there, already a perfectly developed and talented leader, just waiting to be discovered.

However, in reality, you do not find leaders in network marketing.  You create them.

You have to take personal responsibility in the area of leadership development of some of your team members.  You must influence and guide the ones who do want to build a successful team and are willing to take action.

Tune in to today’s podcast as I share this mindset shift on leadership development and how Legacy Leaders develop leaders on their team!

156: {Biz Tip Friday} The Fastest Way to Develop Leaders on Your Team
12:59

What is the fastest way for me to start developing strong leaders on my team?

Having strong leaders on your team is the key for you to have a successful business that provides the time freedom that you crave in life.

However, it is rare that team members will develop into the leaders you need on their own.

Therefore, identifying team members with potential and developing them to be leaders on your team must be an important part of your job.

However, most leaders, such as yourself, are biased towards actions. We think it’s easier and faster for us to just do a task or manage a project by ourselves.  Plus, we then have control.

But here’s the thing, the more that you are concerned with control, the more that you’re killing your leadership potential.

Instead of having that “Go, go, go! I'll get it done faster’ mindset, you need to learn how to SLOW DOWN and intentionally include others so that you can eventually SPEED UP.

In this week’s Biz Tip Friday, I’ll share with you my #1 strategy that I've ever used in my business and I've taught to our students to help them in developing leaders.

155: An Honest Discussion About Racism and Discrimination
59:24

This episode is part 2 of our discussion around racism, discrimination, and understanding our role as leaders in the middle of all that’s happening.  For this discussion I welcome 2 of our community members, and african american female leaders - Felicia Yvette and Robin Sullivan.  I’m also joined by a good friend of mine, Dr. Sundiata Soon-jahta… an anti-oppression activist, authentic dialogue facilitator.  During the episode we have a very open and honest discussion around the topics of racism, discrimination, the role that systems play in creating these issues, and specific advice for white women and men looking to do a better job of leading teams with people of color.  Regardless of what side of this issue you fall on, I think you’ll find this discussion incredibly enlightening and impactful.  If you are someone that is truly looking for some clarity and action steps you can take to become a part of the solution to all of this, this is a can’t miss episode for you.

154: What Does this Moment Require of Me as a Leader?
41:41

Are you struggling with knowing exactly how you should be showing up right now in your business and on social media?

Should it be business as usual?

Would it be best for you to just stay silent and say and do nothing?

What if you decide to speak up and share your thoughts and beliefs around what’s happening today and you say the wrong thing?

The last thing you probably want to do is say something that makes someone angry.

In your heart, you believe what’s happening today is wrong, and I know most of you want to do SOMETHING to be a part of the solution…

But you feel completely frozen, unsure if anything you could say or do would even matter.

I’m here to tell you that IT DOES.

In my latest podcast episode, I give you advice in this important area.  I answer the very important question…

‘As a LEADER, how should I be showing up right now in the world?’

And that’s exactly what we discuss on this week’s podcast.

153: My Husband Doesn’t Support My Business - What do I do?!
30:04

Does your spouse NOT support your business?  Join us for a LIVE coaching session with one of my Legacy Leadership Academy members as we chat about a non-supporting husband in their network marketing business.

In Marty’s business, her husband was not supporting her business.  Every time she talks about her business, he sees it as the typical ‘pyramid scheme.’

However, as we proceed through the coaching session, we find out that the real question is this: Is it the unsupportive husband that’s the problem or is it Marty’s thoughts about that specific circumstance?

Going deeper into the conversation, Marty recognized that it was her expectations and negative thoughts that’s actually giving her pain.

Tune in as I break down the advice that I gave to Marty. Learn how to deal with your thoughts and feelings, how to love without expectations, and how to heal those broken relationships with unsupportive people.

For anybody listening, it does not have to be your spouse.  Perhaps it’s a friend or even someone on your team. This conversation with Marty that I’m sharing will surely help you work through some of these challenging relationships. This is going to be a major breakthrough for many of you.

152: How She Did It: From $8k to $125k in Total Team Sales in Less Than a Year!
44:28

Today’s episode is a Case Study of one of our students Kristy Wharton that increased her total team sales from $8,000 in 2018 to over $125,000 in 2019!

When Kristy first joined the Legacy Leadership Academy in July of 2019 she was really struggling creating any kind of duplication on her team.  She had done a great job personally making sales and getting new recruits, but that success wasn’t translating to her team.

This caused her to really struggle with her own confidence and belief as a leader.  She knew she needed help, she just wasn’t sure exactly what to do.  After joining LLA she immediately knew what her biggest problem was - ONBOARDING.

She did not have a simple system in place for onboarding her new team members.  She took the exact system that we teach inside of LLA, implemented it into her team in October, and couldn’t believe what she saw happen.

Here team did over 80,000 in total team sales in just the last 3 months of the year!  This brought her total team sales for 2019 to right around $114,000.  That’s a 1,325% increase!!

In this episode I talk with Kristy and she explains EXACTLY what she did to help her create those kinds of results.  If you are someone that’s struggling with building your team, and creating other independent leaders, this is a MUST LISTEN episode!

151: {Biz Tip Friday} Facebook Personal Profile or Business Page?
17:20

When it comes to Facebook strategy, one of the most frequent questions I get is:

Should I be focusing on using a Business Page or my own Personal Profile?

In 2018, Facebook made a major change in terms of building Page audience that changed everything.

They severely started limiting the organic reach of Business Pages.

As of right now, the only way to build your Facebook business page today is through paid advertising.

However, running ads for NM opportunities and products does NOT  work. It’s a total waste of time and money.

That’s why I recommend you focus on building your personal brand on your Personal Profile and start selling YOU. Lead with LOVE and SERVICE on your social media posts, not selling and promoting.

If you start selling and promoting LESS and start focusing on adding value to people with your content, I guarantee that you’ll start getting more engagement over time.

150: The Perfectionism-Procrastination Loop
28:11

Do you ever find yourself stuck and not wanting to move forward?  Or maybe you are just not taking enough action because you’re obsessed over making sure everything looks perfect?

If you answered YES to either of those questions, then you’re trapped in the Perfectionism-Procrastination loop.

I’ve worked with thousands of network marketing leaders, and I now know that the THE biggest enemies on our journey to success are PERFECTIONISM and PROCRASTINATION.

Perfectionists think anything short of perfection is unacceptable.  Perfectionists spin this need as a ‘good thing.’  But, in reality, perfectionism is just a delay tactic….one that’s seen as ‘acceptable’ by society.  But, it’s also one that won’t grow your business.

If you are a perfectionist, I want you to know this -- perfectionism isn’t just about having high standards. It’s defining your success in such a narrow way of thinking and then punishing yourself for any type failure. Perfectionism, if left unchecked, can kill both your personal and business growth long-term.

And procrastination is actually a BYPRODUCT of perfectionism. WHY?

Because perfectionists fear being unable to complete a task perfectly, they put it off as long as possible. The higher the fear of failure and ridicule, the more perfectionists procrastinate, and this is where the Perfectionism-Procrastination Loop begins.

So, how do you break the Perfectionism-Procrastination Loop?

Well, I cover that and more in today’s podcast episode!  Listen now!

149: {Biz Tip Friday} My Live Video Content Multiplier Formula
14:40

What if you can turn one live video into an entire week's worth of content?

Are you spending hours each week creating ‘new’ content for social media?  It doesn’t have to be that way!

The biggest reason why people struggle so much with creating content for all of their social media platforms is that they have NO SYSTEM.

Social media for many of you has become a full-time job…and it’s taking away from your what will create true results in your business – prospecting and reachouts.

But it doesn’t have to be that way!

The frustration and overwhelm that you’re experiencing when it comes to social media content ends today.

In this week’s Biz Tip Friday, I’m going to share my own Content Repurposing System that will save you time from creating content each week.  I’m giving you my personal step-by-step guide to my Live Video Content Multiplier Formula and also the tools and apps to help you manage your content, and much more.

Once you implement this system, you’ll have an endless supply of content for social media.

148: Is Social Media Actually Hurting Your Business?
26:00

Ask yourself this: Is social media helping or hurting your business?

In today’s businesses, social media is featured as ‘the solution’ for so many business problems we face.

Some would go so far as to say that social media IS a business; however, THAT’S NOT TRUE.

I’m not against the use of social media as a tool, but relying on it alone means you are just one algorithm change away from not having a business anymore.

Focusing 90% of your time on attraction marketing, thinking that attraction marketing is the silver bullet to build your business, is actually killing your business.

In fact, attraction marketing has destroyed more businesses than it has actually helped in this profession.

So, what I teach is to begin using social media in a different way than what everyone else is teaching.

Because, if we don’t start changing the way we use social media and the way we think about it, we are putting the future of our profession in danger.

Network marketing is not a social media or attraction marketing business. Social media is just the front end of the funnel. It is just one of the many ways that you can grow your business.

Think about this: What if one day you can’t use social media anymore?

I truly believe you can still build a business without using social media, because, in the end, network marketing is about core leadership development and business building strategies.

147: A FTC Warning Last Week to ALL Network Marketers!

This week we dive into a very SERIOUS issue for all of us involved in the network marketing profession.  Just last week the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) sent warning letters to 10 different network marketing companies.

These warning letters were a result of distributors making health and earnings claims related to the Coronavirus.  I hate to say this, but I saw this coming a mile away.  I’ve been pretty vocal about how bad we’ve been falling as a profession on social media in response to all of this.  Using this tragedy as an excuse to sell and recruit.

In this episode I go DEEP into what the warning letter said, and more importantly what this means to every single one of you in this profession.  I actually did an entire YouTube Video on this topic that I’d love if you check out and share with your teams.  Here’s the link to video:

http://bit.ly/Subscribe2YourVirtualUpline

I also share with you 3 things you can be doing right not to help out in this area - to make sure that you are a part of the SOLUTION, not the problem.  This is an unprecedented thing that’s happened for our profession, and you need to make sure you are educated on what’s happening.  The long term viability of your business and this profession depends on it.

Here is the episode I did on the Love, Serve, Grow Framework:

146: {Biz Tip Friday} How to Never Run Out of Prospects Ever Again
22:32

Here’s the secret for you to never run out of prospects ever again….

….LIVE VIDEOS.

The truth is people want to join your business because they see you as someone that can help them create a better life – it’s because they get value from you.

When you prospect someone you plant a seed within them.  And that seed has to be tended to, fertilized, and nurtured.

And doing a live video is like potentially watering every seed you have ever planted in your life.

Understand that every time you do a live video, you are cultivating relationships.

But here’s what’s holding you back – your FEAR and the negative thoughts about who you are.

Here’s the deal, you need to get over yourself and put yourself out there.

You need to begin sharing insights that can help others create results in their lives.

Start with going live just once per week.  And just go live on your personal profile.

Stop focusing on the people that are going to make fun of you. Be confident and know that you have value to offer the world and that there is somebody out there that needs to hear what you have to say.

145: {Live Coaching} Can a Stay-at-Home Mom Succeed in Business?
46:41

Today’s podcast is a LIVE mindset coaching session with Jocelyn. Jocelyn is one of our students inside my leadership development group, the Legacy Leadership Academy.

She has been really successful at recruiting people but hasn’t experienced significant DUPLICATION in her team. Her team cannot seem to create the recruiting success that she has created for herself.

Jocelyn’s issues are twofold: First, she needs to create a simple, tools-based prospecting system for her team.  And second, which is also the real issue for Jocelyn, is her negative thoughts and self-limiting beliefs.

Jocelyn hasn’t reached out to some of her contacts who have a higher level of success because she thinks, “They are better than me.” This inability to move forward and seek guidance is actually an issue of SELF-WORTH.  She feels that she’s just not good enough, and that others are simply more successful than she is.

Join me in this live coaching session, as I coach Jocelyn on how to manage her thoughts, why she needs to stop comparing herself with others, and the importance of getting over the past and focusing on the future.

144: {Biz Tip Friday} Relationship Building with Prospects ISN'T Enough
10:40

You need to know this - relationship building with your prospects is not enough.

Since I shared the LOVE, SERVE, GROW framework, where I teach everybody to focus on loving and serving before recruiting, I’ve been hearing a lot of people say that they are already serving their prospects with love, but it is still not producing any results.

Here’s WHY: You’re spending all of your time just in relationship building mode.

You need to go to the NEXT LEVEL. And you go ‘next level’ by adding value to people's lives.

HOW? Share the things that you've learned in your journey - as an entrepreneur or as a leader. If you start sharing the golden nuggets and wisdom you’ve learned, and these things help people improve their own lives, you will absolutely start seeing better results.

My CHALLENGE for you:

The next time you follow up with a prospect and have relationship building as the focus, have a plan. Don’t just make idle chitchat. I want you to go live or reach out to people. If you read a book or learn something in a podcast, share it with your prospects.

Here’s the thing, when people get value from you, you become more valuable to them.

143: Stop Wasting Your Time Working With Uncommitted People
21:21

Today, I’m going to answer the age old dilemma in network marketing – “How do I handle uncommitted people on your team?”

I know as a leader you love seeing people on your team succeed. However, sometimes we can be so desperate that you spend the majority of your time leading coaching calls and motivational spiels with people that aren’t even committed to growing their own business!

Spending too much time trying to get uncommitted people to be committed is a HUGE MISTAKE.

I want you to understand this:  It is not your job to make your team members successful.

Every minute you spend with someone who is uncommitted to their business is robbing those who ARE committed from your time, leadership, and attention.

When I finally decided to respect my personal time and support the deserving people on my team, I experienced a huge difference in my business. I started seeing my team grow faster and the business became more fulfilling and fun.

The way that you build a legacy business in this profession is by getting really clear on who are the best people that deserve your time, leadership, and expertise.

Time is the most valuable asset you have.  Give it to those who are committed and deserve it.

142: {Biz Tip Friday} The Secret to Recruiting Business Builders
22:32

Did you know that the very best prospects for your business are oftentimes the ones who don’t ‘need’ to start a side business?

Those people are:

  • High income earning professionals
  • Traditional business owners
  • Influential community members
  • People with past network marketing experience

Maybe you are too afraid to reach out to these people because they don’t appear to ‘need’ another stream of income or another thing on their plate?

However, you need to rethink this!

These people have the confidence, belief, self-worth, and advanced personal development to succeed in network marketing. They, in fact, need to be at the very top of your prospecting list!

In this podcast, I’m going to teach you a framework I’ve used in my own business to categorize your prospects into 3 different buckets.

This system will help you find the best prospects faster and discover the hidden gold in your contact list, all while conquering the fear to reach out to those ideal prospects!

The strategy that I share in this episode comes directly from this month’s training inside of my Legacy Leadership Academy. It’s a small piece of our April training called “How to Recruit Business Builders.”

141: Love, Serve, Grow
24:54

Are you looking for a radically different way to think about and approach growing your network marketing business?

Today, I’m going to share with you the LOVE, SERVE, GROW concept, which serves as the foundation of everything we do inside our Legacy Leadership Academy.

The idea, itself, is simple.  Put LOVE at the center of your business and life and serve others with this thought always first in mind.

It’s having a mindset that the more you serve - putting other’s interest before your own - the more you grow as a person, as a leader.

It’s having a SERVICE, not a sales, mindset, and understanding that the more you SERVE, the more you GROW.

And when I say ‘grow,’ I mean everything grows as a byproduct - you grow as a person, you grow as a leader, your team grows, your income grows, your impact grows, your happiness, joy, and fulfillment in life grows.

Now is not the time for you to SELL as a profession - it’s the time for you to SERVE.

Show the people in your life that you’re DIFFERENT. Reach out to them and show them that you truly care, not that you’re out to get a new recruit or the next sale.

I’m not telling you to not recruit people if they want to buy and join. I’m just telling you don’t make that your focus.

And trust me, it’s in times like this that people remember more those who cared enough about them and treated them like a human being.

140: What if Your Desire to Lead is Greater Than Your Ability? #AskBob
25:18

Today’s #AskBob episode comes from a question I received on Instagram.

I have the DESIRE to lead, but I’m wondering whether or not I have the ABILITY to do so?  I’m way too hard on myself, and don’t really believe in myself as a leader.  Can I learn, or is it hopeless?

This is something that I know a lot of you are probably struggling with right now.  You hear me telling you that this is a ‘challenge for you to step up as a leader’.  I know most of you have that desire to lead your teams, and be a leader to the people in your life.

But I also know that many of you struggle when it comes to your own confidence and belief as a leader.  Today’s episode I’ll share my thoughts with you on this topic.  It’s something that I’m really passionate about, because for a very long time, I struggled with this same thing.

What I want you to know is that leaders aren’t BORN, and that every one of you has the seed of leadership inside of you right now.  You need to believe that to be true, and you have to be willing to push past your fears and step out there and lead.  That’s the only way you’re going to truly discover that which already lies inside of you.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT - the Legacy Leadership Academy is now FREE until the end of April!

139: How to Deal with the Coronavirus as a Leader
27:48

This may be one of the most important messages that I ever share with you.

Amidst the tragedy and chaos that’s going on in the world right now exists the seed of an incredible opportunity.

What we are dealing with right now in the world is a call to LEADERSHIP. ⁣

You are being called right now inside of your business to be a LEADER.

My advice to you is it should NOT be ‘business as usual’ for you - I want you to shift gears and take a radically different approach.

As a profession right now, we are failing miserably on social media.

What the world needs today isn’t another sales pitch or marketing promotion - it needs a message of LOVE, inspiration, and HOPE.⁣

If you are a position of leadership - The world needs you right now, get on social media, be visible and be heard...⁣

Now is the time for us to put our own selfish interests aside from making that next sale, and let’s all come together as one, and do our parts to lead the world through this crisis.⁣

Don’t feed the fear that everyone else is peddling, spread LOVE and become a light for others to follow. ⁣

Choose to be a part of the SOLUTION, not someone that feeds into the problem. ⁣

BE THE LIGHT - encourage people through these difficult times, love on people harder than you ever have before, and SHOW UP.

Please share this message with your teams and anyone else you know that’s in this profession.

138: What’s Your Capacity to Have?
35:47

What’s your capacity to HAVE in your life?

Whether you realize this or not, you have been preconditioned to only accept a certain amount of income and success in your life.

I see it all of the time – each of us has this subconscious threshold for money and success.

There is an approximate amount of income you earn that you feel comfortable HAVING.

And once we meet that threshold, odd things start happening in our businesses.

If your income or results rise above this threshold, you’ll start to struggle with inconsistency, you go into self-sabotage mode, or you find a way to undermine your results.

And most of you (just like me), will get stuck at or around a certain rank advancement or level of results in your business because of this same threshold.

Because here’s the thing you need to know – the amount of success that you’re going to experience is determined by your MINDSET.

The real issue for most of us is that we have LIMITING BELIEFS around the areas of money and success that are holding each of us back from the results we want.

We, whether it’s consciously or subconsciously, believe we can only achieve a certain level success or make a certain amount of money.

And when we reach that level, our self-limiting beliefs begin to kick in and limit us from moving farther ahead.

We can focus on having the ‘right strategies’ or taking massive amounts of action, but none of these will ever make a difference unless we each address our self-limiting beliefs.

I want you to become aware of these limiting beliefs you have that are holding you back, and consciously adopt a new set of beliefs that will empower you to raise your CAPACITY TO HAVE in all these areas.

Join me in this episode as I share with you about mindset coaching and how to overcome your self-limiting beliefs.

137: {Biz Tip Friday} The #1 Mistake People Make When Training New Consultants
12:10

Let’s talk about the #1 mistake people make when training their new team members.

I see this all of the time.  We get a new team member and the first thing we begin doing is TEACHING.

We begin going through ‘the steps’ to building a business, we assign videos to watch, and worst of all, books to read.

However, the problem with too much information is that you are overwhelming your new team member.  And instead of being excited about the business, they feel bad that they don’t have the time to get all of your assignments done.

Understand this: More teaching and training does NOT equal more results.

So, how should you train a new person?

Your Onboarding System must help people visualize the transformation that can occur in their lives when they take action and build a successful business.

So listen up as I go deep into the best way to onboard a new team member and also share with you the two strategies you need to be implementing today.

136: Do the work or You Don't Get to Complain!
18:42

You may not want to hear this, but, here’s what I want to say to you…

If you’re not, at the very least, SHOWING UP and doing the work in your business, then you don’t get to complain anymore about your lack of results!

I think what some of you need is a little ‘tough love’ in this area -you need someone that cares enough about you to take a stand for you and your future success.

As most of you know, we’ve created the first ever leadership certification program for Network Marketing in the world - The Legacy Leadership Academy. This program is a 12-month program designed to give network marketers everything they need to create success in this industry.

And there have been SO many success stories that have come from members of the academy. In fact, some of the students have been guests in the previous episodes of this podcast.

However, with all my efforts – designing the program, producing video trainings, and even creating a mobile app – it’s so interesting to me that some network marketers are posting on social media how ‘stuck they feel’ or ‘overwhelmed they are.’  Because here’s the thing - these are also the very same people who consistently do NOT make the time to show up and do the work.

Here’s your wakeup call -- You do NOT get the right to complain anymore about your 'lack of results' if you aren't willing to show up and do the work.

The true reality is that there are people with the exact same challenges that you have right now; yet those people are making the time and taking action.

I think it's time for some of you to finally make your success A PRIORITY in your life.

Stop the blame game, don’t fall into the complaining trap, and start taking action.

And the first action I’m assigning to you is listen to this podcast.  Then share it with a team member who maybe needs to hear the same message, too!

You CAN do this.  And I am and always will be your biggest cheerleader!

{Biz Tip Friday} How to Authentically Sell Your Products
12:03

In this episode of Biz Tip Friday, I’m going to answer the question - ‘How do I reach out and share what I do in an AUTHENTIC way, without coming across ‘too salesy’, to people that I haven’t spoken to in a while?’

Here’s the reality – eventually we are going to saturate our warm market and have to reach out to people that we know but that we haven’t been in contact with for a while.

However, out of FEAR, network marketers typically aren’t willing to actually reach out to these people. We are so worried that we might sound ‘too salesy’ or ‘inauthentic.’

However, you must understand that the product that you’re offering CAN change someone’s life.

Therefore, NOT sharing your products with people is the actual definition of being INAUTHENTIC.

I want you to completely shift your mindset around this topic and know this:

The secret to selling with authenticity and passion is loving what you do SO much that you feel as though you’re doing people a disservice if you don’t tell them about your product.

And here’s the key – make it about THEM and about how this product or business opportunity can transform their lives.

134: Most Network Marketers aren't Real Business Owners
31:37

Do you ever find yourself working long, hard hours in your business - but for some reason can’t ever seem to create success?

If you answered ‘yes’ to this question, it’s more than likely because you aren’t treating your network marketing business like a REAL BUSINESS.

If you are still in the early stages of your business and you are building, growing, and learning, it’s OK. It can take a lot of work in the beginning to gain momentum while growing your business and team.

However, if you’ve been in your business for over a year and you’re still not making any money, it’s because you’re treating it more like a HOBBY – and that is not OK.

You have to really be honest and ask yourself – Am I a Hobbyist?  Or am I a REAL business owner?

  • Do you work your business with a plan and a schedule? Or do you work it only when you ‘feel motivated’ and it’s convenient?

  • Do you have a clear vision for your business and how it will impact the world?

  • What are your beliefs on how money is made? Is it a function of time and effort?  Or is it a function of working smarter, not harder?

These questions and so many more will help you authentically look at yourself and know whether or not you are a hobbyist or a real business owner.

And the answers to these questions will also help you decide where you need to show up differently in your business to change for the better and build the business of your dreams.

So, tune in as I share with you what defines a hobbyist vs a real business owner in the network marketing profession…including the 2 most important things that Real Business Owners do differently than the Hobbyists that help them create long term success!

133: {Biz Tip Friday} How to Follow-up with a Prospect
10:16

Today I’m introducing a brand new series on my podcast called “Biz Tip Friday.”

While I absolutely love going deep into a topic inside the network marketing industry like I do on my weekly Tuesday podcast, I also understand that many of you are looking for short, actionable pieces of advice that you can implement quickly that give you HUGE results!

In this pilot episode, we cover the topic of following-up with prospects.

One of the biggest mistakes I see people making in this area is following up without having a clearly defined next step.

I, personally, used to make this mistake all the time.

I’d go through all the steps: share a 3rd party tool, answer questions, lead them to a phone call with my upline or a presentation.  But, then I’d just leave them out there ‘waiting to make a decision.’ This is a HUGE MISTAKE!!!

What I learned is that when following up with a prospect, you must always have a ‘next step’ for them.

Understand that closing is not a single event.  It is a process.

Our job is to move the prospect to a predefined next step if they aren’t ready to buy or join.

This ‘exposure process’ creates momentum for the close until they reached the point of saying ‘yes’ or ‘no.’

Remember this - the people that are truly interested will always take the next step. Just let the process do the work!

132: How Vulnerable Should You be with Your Team?
28:17

Should you be open and honest about your struggles with your team?  I get asked this question a LOT.  And in today’s podcast, I’m going to tackle the subject most leaders struggle with - VULNERABILITY.

As a society, much of the times we view failures and vulnerability as a weakness.  We think that if we share our most vulnerable thoughts, emotions, and circumstances we are ‘less of a leader’  in the eyes of our team.

As leaders, we feel like we always need to look like we’ve ‘got it all together.’

We tell ourselves a false story that those who are vulnerable and share any low points we’ve experienced in building our business become less credible to our teams.

We associate vulnerability with weakness.  And people don’t follow or trust weak leaders.  At least that’s what we tell ourselves.

So, instead, we put on this false mask of lies to the world and to our team that we have ALL the answers, that there have never been any challenges in building our businesses, and that everything is easy and great 100% of the time.

What I want you to realize is this, vulnerability is not only a good idea in your business, it’s actually REQUIRED if you want to truly impact and lead people.  Being vulnerable actually builds a bridge of connection between you and a team member.  It's the ultimate demonstration of strength.

Listen up as I share with you my own story of vulnerability, why it’s important to leadership, and how you can empower your team by being vulnerable.

131: Stop Teaching and Start Coaching to Create More Leaders
43:36

Are you struggling to create strong, independent leaders on your team?

Learning how to become an effective coach is an absolute MUST if you want to build a NM business that someday gives you TOTAL FREEDOM.

As a matter of fact, for many of you this is the missing ingredient to the growth of your business and life right now.

Right now you might be thinking, “I’m a great coach to my team members.  I’m always teaching them new strategies and instructing them how to grow their businesses.”

However, you need to know that there’s a big difference between teaching and coaching.

Most network marketing leaders that I’ve worked with are good teachers, but horrible coaches.

Teaching is mostly concerned with the acquisition of new knowledge and is usually done in a group setting.

Coaching on the other hand is focused on development. It is having the support that one needs to achieve a level of success in your business.

Personally, in my own business, for a very long time I was stuck. I had so many great people with all the potential in the world fizzle out and I didn’t understand why. What I didn’t realize is that I was missing a critical skill - COACHING.

My inability to be an effective coach to the people on my team was a huge factor in what was holding me back. But once I finally understood all of this and learned how to coach my team..and not just teach…my business and life began to change dramatically.

So, join me in this episode as I share the skill of coaching, how it changed my life and business, and the two key concepts on how to be an effective coach.

130: I've Exhausted my Warm Market, Now What?! #AskBob
44:07

In this new podcast episode of #askBob, I answer 3 questions submitted by listeners, including:

  1. What do you do when you’ve exhausted your warm market?
  2. How do you prospect people on FB you’re connected with - but don’t really know?
  3. What do you do when someone doesn’t respond to your reach out?

What do you do when you’ve exhausted your warm market?

This is a common thing I see where network marketers think that they had already tapped out any opportunity with people they know so they shift to their cold market.

They turn to social media and try to learn attraction marketing, and they end up complicating the entire process with funnels and lead magnets and complex systems.

Armed with the excuse of “I’ve exhausted my warm market,” I see network marketers think that figuring out how to prospect in the cold market is the answer.

However, the cold market is NOT the answer.  In this podcast, I dig into my personal opinion on why recruiting in the cold market is not the solution to your ‘burned out warm market’ problem.

How do you prospect people on FB you’re connected with, but also don’t really know?

A bit mistake people make when trying to prospect in the cold market is pitching to people too early in the process.

They talk about their company, business, and product on the first message because they think that it’s secretive and weird to not just share right away.

What we need to understand is that messaging people on social media is the exact same as having a conversation with them face-to-face.

The key is to make your messaging conversational. It's more than you just making a sale; it's you being able to change their life through your products.

What do you do when someone doesn’t respond to your reach out?

When prospecting, we always seem to assume a negative outcome, like “they’re going to roll their eyes at me” or “what if they talk about me behind my back.”

It’s these negative scenarios (RED LIGHTS) that we imagine that’s stopping us from reaching out and following up with our prospects.

I want you to learn how to create different and more empowering stories (GREEN LIGHTS).

Build your faith and always assume a positive intent.

If they don’t respond on the follow up, then you need to course correct. Do a different approach like commenting on their posts on Instagram, or like the stuffs they post on social media.

Here’s the thing, it’s all about your willingness to take action despite your fears. The only limitation to creating the life of your dreams and the business that you want is the story that you tell yourself about how it is or isn’t possible.

129: {Live Coaching} What Do You Do If Your Team Falls Apart?
32:38

I’ve seen this a LOT in network marketing.

You join a company, and there’s excitement for the product and the opportunity.  Your excitement is contagious, and you also work your business consistently, sharing about the products and the opportunity with anyone who will listen.

Your team grows fast!  You have that momentum that every network marketer craves!

And then, things begin to slow down.  Team members begin going MIA and not returning messages.  Your recruiting and team volume numbers begin sliding backwards.

Your team (and business!) is falling apart!

In today’s podcast, I have a live coaching session with Sasha, who has been going through that exact same situation.

Sasha is a brand new member of my Legacy Leadership Academy. She had a fast start in her company and had a lot of success.

However, over the last year things have fallen apart. Leaders left her team, and there has been lots of complaining going on, which resulted to a toxic team environment.

Instead of excited and moving forward, she now feels frustrated, has lost confidence in herself, and feels like she’s stuck in the past. And on top of all of that, she doesn’t have a strong upline that she can lean on for support.

Join me in this live coaching session, as I give Sasha some key insights on how she can take control over her thoughts and continue building a the team of her dreams!

128: The 5 Phases of Network Marketing Leadership
01:06:38

Today is part 2 of last week’s episode where I reveal our brand new ‘Success Path’ that we’ve created for all of you called ‘The 5 Phases of Network Marketing Leadership.’

Do you know EXACTLY where you are at on your journey to success?

If Point A is the day you joined your network marketing company and Point B is where you want to be – enjoying a life of Total Freedom - where EXACTLY are you at in between those two points?

It is so important that you are clear on EXACTLY where you are in your journey to success.

And that is why I’m so excited to launch the first EVER leadership assessment for network marketing!!

One of the things I’ve always struggled with was our new students never had a way to clearly see the vision of what we’re helping them do.

All the training we do is great, but I started to notice a ton of confusion and overwhelm because there was no simple, clear plan to help them get exactly from Point A to Point B in their business.

So we created the first ever network marketing quiz to help people just like you determine exactly which of 5 stages you are at in your network marketing journey.  Then, we can give you the exact steps and action plan you need to follow to attain Total Freedom.

127: The Greatest Gift of Network Marketing
36:19

Today I share with you the greatest gift network marketing has to offer….and a HUGE gift for you inside!

This episode is the first of a two-part series. And whether you are brand new to network marketing or a seasoned leader, I believe this is something that will have you looking at your business in a very different way than you ever have before!

Ask yourself these questions: What does success look like for you? What is the ultimate goal for your business?
One mistake network marketers make is not having a clear vision for their life and business.

Most of us simply follow someone else's definition of success, and then we later find out, their definition wasn’t exactly what we wanted in life.

And then we end up frustrated, unfulfilled, and miss the greatest gift that this profession has to offer - Total Freedom.

There are three types of freedom in life: Financial Freedom, Time Freedom, and Personal Freedom.

And when someone has Total Freedom, they have all three!

And for most people, they have Total Freedom because they are an entrepreneur.

But, what does it actually look like to have financial, time AND personal freedom?

And what do you have to do to actually attain TOTAL freedom in your life?

This is exactly what I share with you in this podcast episode!

And what my team is working on to help you achieve Total Freedom in a step-by-step process in 2020!

126: How to Handle a Leader Leaving to Join Another Company
41:54

There’s a very delicate topic that we leaders have to deal with, which is a byproduct of building a big business, and that is how to handle when a leader leaves to join another company.

One of your leaders leaving for another company is one of the hardest things you will face in your network marketing career. In that moment, it feels like your entire business is falling apart and that everything you’ve worked so hard for is suddenly being destroyed.

But I want you to understand that how you handle this, how you respond and react, will have a far greater impact on your long-term success than that person actually leaving.

Our usual reaction is we feel revengeful. We start trashing the person, trying to undermine their credibility so that no one on their team leaves to go join them. But I want you to know that going into attack mode is a bad idea.

In this podcast episode, I share with you tips on how to handle these situations, why as leaders we need to lead with character and love, and some actionable steps that will definitely keep you out of the drama.

124: How to Run Recruiting Campaigns on Your Team
32:34

Recruiting Campaigns are a powerful tool you can use to help motivate your team to take more consistent action and reach out to more prospects.  In this podcast episode, I share with you my 3-step process for setting up a successful recruiting campaign for your team.

Do you have team members who are struggling?  Are they overwhelmed and confused?

There is a LOT of information overload available to network marketers.  Scripts, podcasts, LIVE video strategies, and more!  And all of this information can definitely overwhelm some of your team members causing all productivity to come to a screeching halt!

One of the best strategies to get overwhelmed and confused team members to move forward and take consistent action is to start a Recruiting Campaign.  While most team leaders think of recruiting campaigns as a means to add more team members, it also serves as a way to get hesitant team members to actually move forward and take action.

Recruiting Campaigns combat two of the biggest obstacles your team faces – FEAR and OVERWHELM – by giving your team a simple system to follow over a short period of time.

Here is my 3-step system for creating a successful recruiting campaign:

STEP #1: Identify the specific group of people you want to target (Real Estate Agents, Nurses, Teachers, Traditional Business Owners) and create the story around why they would be such a good prospect.

STEP #2: Come up with the scripts and key messaging points for your team. Part of this includes anticipating the objections that might come up ahead of time.

STEP #3: Choose a specific time and roll it out to your team. You could kick the campaign off with a really exciting Zoom presentation. Make it fun! You can give away prizes for those people that participate.

123: 5 Strategies to Help You Make the Most of Black Friday
44:50

Every year people ask me, “Is it ok to do Black Friday promotions?”

Yes!  It is OK to promote your products and business on Black Friday!

Download my FREE Black Friday Marketing Strategy Guide with my favorite strategies and scripts at www.yourvirtualupline.com/123.

However, to be SUCCESSFUL in your Black Friday marketing efforts, you MUST be different than your competitors.

Here’s the truth about Black Friday - your success or failure will not be determined by what you do on that single day, but by what you’ve done in your business in the 30, 60, or 90 days leading up to Black Friday.

In this episode, I’m going to share 5 ways that you can make the most of your Black Friday promotions this year.

Strategy #1: Live Video Content On-Ramp. You need to warm your audience up for the promotion!  To do this, build up curiosity for your products through a series of live videos on Facebook, Instagram, or any platform you prefer. The key here is to create value; so, it’s very important that you focus on educating and teaching people around the area of your products.

Strategy #2: Share Customer Success Stories. I want you to understand that people don’t buy products.  They buy the results that the product gives. So instead of selling on price, focus on selling the value of your products by sharing customer success stories and how it made your customer’s life better and what problems you solved for your customers.

Strategy #3: Gratitude and Appreciation. Don’t lead with the promotion you.  Always lead with love, gratitude, and appreciation for the customers supporting your business. What does this mean?  Instead of jumping straight in with your product pitch, schedule some dedicated time to call, voice message, or even send a short, handwritten note for your current or past customers personally thanking them for their support.

Strategy #4: ‘Steal a Deal’ FB Group Strategy. With this strategy, you set up a temporary ‘pop-up’ FB Group for your entire team to use during Black Friday. Your team members can then add their customers and prospects to this group. The exciting part is that each member can contribute a certain amount that will go to the discounts of the products. You will then pick a specific time for the event to happen so you can start promoting to everyone inside the group.

Strategy #5: Personally Connect with Your Top Prospects. Most network marketers rely too heavily on passive ‘Attraction Marketing.’ What I want you to do this Black Friday is change your approach, slow down, and get more focused on the most important people for you to connect with. At the end of the day, the best sales strategy out there is just genuinely taking the time to get to know what’s going on in someone’s life and caring about them.

122: My ‘3 S’s’ Closing Strategy
39:24

Let’s talk about a topic that I know for many of you is something you struggle with a lot in your business – CLOSING.

To master the skill of closing you have to have a game plan and practice it over and over again

Have you ever heard prospects say these things to you before?

  • I’m not really a great salesperson.
  • I don’t have the time to do anything else.
  • I don’t have the money; so, I can’t afford to join your team or buy your product.

Personally I used to hate closing.  It felt so uncomfortable to me.

However, I realized this came down to two things…

First was my lack of confidence, and second, my mindset to the ‘YES’s’ and ‘NO’s’ you hear in this business.

So, I’ve created what I call the ‘3 S’s Closing Strategy.’

I promise you it will make you much more confident and comfortable when it comes to closing a prospect.

Let’s get into my ‘3 S’s’ Closing Strategy!

Strategy #1 is SIMPLE. Don’t complicate the process of sharing your products and business opportunity.  Remember, the less you say, the more money you are likely to make.

Strategy #2 is SYSTEM. I want you to understand that it is the real key to building a team and getting new recruits is having a system for your team that anyone and everyone can utilize. Every aspect of your business must be system driven, and this what gives your people that necessary confidence because confidence starts out not in their own abilities, but their ability to follow a system.

Finally, Strategy #3 is SUPPORT. Sell your prospect on the fact that they are locking arms with you. That you will be there for them every step of the way. If someone sees you as the person who can change their life, they’re going to join you.

121: A Return to Love
48:01

I want to share with you what I believe to be the ‘secret’ to success, happiness, fulfillment, in your business and life.

In my last podcast episode, episode 120, I shared what I believe to be the biggest challenge that you will need to overcome to see success in your business – The Achievement Trap.

This episode serves as part 2 of that message. So, if you haven’t listened to episode 120 yet, I recommend that you listen to that message first.

Consider having love be the guiding force in your life, regardless of the circumstance.  Nothing stands to transform us, our relationships, and our world, more than a commitment to live our lives from love. - Marianne Williamson from her book, ‘A Return to Love’

So, what do I believe is the ‘secret’ to success, happiness, fulfillment, in your business and life?  In one word – LOVE.

In life, most of us have been so paralyzed by fear.  And this fear shows up inside of us through feelings of unworthiness, doubt, and negativity.  And these emotions and feelings are blinding us from our potential.

However, when we shift our feelings and emotions to ones of LOVE, we begin to see ourselves and our roles in this world differently. We begin seeing that each and every one of us has a unique and essential role to fulfill in this world.

When we stop obsessing over ‘making sales’ and ‘getting our next recruit,’ we can instead obsess over ways to show kindness, compassion and generosity to the people we came into contact with every day.

If this was the filter through how we lived our lives and operated our businesses, it would literally change everything.

If you learn nothing else from listening to this podcast, I want you to leave with this - you were created with the purpose of extending God’s love to the people in this world.  And your networking marketing business is simply a vehicle that can be used to live out this purpose.

The moment you make the decision that your business is a way for you to serve mankind and not just a way to make money, you will experience a joy and fulfillment that you’ve not felt before.

120: The Achievement Trap
42:46

What is driving you in your business? This episode is probably one of the most important episodes I’ve ever recorded. Today, I share with you something that I personally struggled with personally and professionally.  And I believe you can probably relate to this, too.

The moment you stop striving to achieve something to feel worthy is the moment where you experience something much more powerful

I want to ask you a question, and your answer to this question will ultimately determine the kind of business you create and the quality of life that you experience.

Here’s the million-dollar question - What is driving you in your business?

If I look back on my own network marketing career, what was ALWAYS driving me was ‘the next thing.’  One month it was to sign a certain ‘A-player’ prospect.  The next it was to hit the next rank.  Then to win a company trip.  The car.  The ‘top earner.’….iti went on and on and on.

And each ‘nest thing’ was supposed to make me happy and feel better in my life.

But, after the initial happiness faded away from hitting my goals, I felt exactly the same as I did before. I was still miserable and I felt totally alone, actually I kind of feel worse.

That happiness is gone in seconds…and then you’re on to ‘the next thing’ again.

This is what I call the achievement trap.

We have this mindset that our accomplishments in life will make us worthy, happy, and fulfilled in life. We do the hustle to reach our goals.  Then we realize that each new accomplishment has a very empty, hollow feeling.

I hope this episode sheds light on your own achievement trap. I’m going to teach you how to break free from this in your business so that you’ll start finding more sustainable happiness, joy, and fulfillment in the work that you do.

119: {Live Coaching} Is being busy making you feel more worthy?
41:25

Are you ‘busy’ in your business, but you’re not ‘productive?’  Being ‘busy’ in your business, does not always equal success.  Today, Jane joins me for a live coaching session to work through how her negative thoughts and how ‘being busy’ is holding her back in building a thriving business.

Leadership is leading by example - showing up every day and doing the work

For so many of us, especially in our western culture where achievement is looked highly upon, being busy and being part of ‘the hustle’ is looked highly upon….not just from other people, but even when we’re dealing with ourselves as well!

We love and embrace ‘the hustle!’  So much so, that we convince ourselves that just being busy is enough.

We get a sense of accomplishment just from being busy.  Some of us, myself included at times, find our worth in the craziness of being busy.

But, there’s a HUGE difference between being busy and being productive.

When you’re taking ‘passive action,’ (organizing, scrolling through social media, and reading personal development books) vs working your income producing activities gives a sense of accomplishment and worthiness, but does NOT build you a successful business in the long run.

Plus, when you’re busy but not productive, you are not being the example and leader you need to be to your team.  Your unwillingness to take the right actions is holding you AND them back.

So stay tune as Jane and I discuss how to conquer fear of failure, how to lead by example, and importance of not defining your own worthiness by how busy you are in your business

118: The 3 Identities Needed for Network Marketing Success
33:03

There are 3 different identities you must adopt in order to become massively successful in your network marketing business.

Your value in life isn’t in the things that you do; it’s in who you are

I have to admit, I had my own challenges when beginning my network marketing team. However, the concept of identity led me to the single greatest ‘aha moment’ of my career.

Here is the problem that most of us have: our identities (how we see ourselves) limit our results.

Our day is dominated by negative thoughts, stories, and beliefs that limiting us. But I want you to understand that success is not a matter of doing; it’s a matter of being.

So here are 3 Identities needed for network marketing success.

First, understand that you are a BUSINESS OWNER. I’ve seen a lot of people work on their business when they feel like it, when it’s convenient, or when they feel motivated.  And this is a very dangerous place to be. So beginning today, I want you to start thinking like a business owner. Start treating it like a real business. Identify the characteristics of a successful business owner and start living by them today.

The second Identity is a NETWORK MARKETER. If you want to become successful in this profession, you don’t ‘do network marketing.’  Nope! You must become a network marketer. The key is to shift from a saleman’s mindset to a service mindset. Your business can make you tons of money, but that money and success is only as good as what you do with it to help others.

Last, you are a LEADER. Most of us have impostor’s syndrome.  We’re so worried people will find out that ‘we don’t know everything’ that we don’t even start.  These are simply limiting beliefs about ourselves when it comes to leadership. So here is my advice, stop focusing on what you don’t have and haven’t done yet.  Instead, start showing some appreciation for the things you have done, and what you have already in your life. You don’t need to have a team to be a leader. You only need to begin by leading the most important person – YOURSELF.

117: Getting Unstuck, Motivating Your Team, Building Your Belief #AskBob
46:21

Today I’m answering YOUR listener-submitted questions!

You’ll often hear that owning your own business can be a very lonely endeavor, even when you have downline, uplines, and sidelines like in network marketing.

However, what you need to know is that the problems you have are the same problems so many others are experiencing as well!  Which is why I’m excited to release our very first podcast answering YOUR submitted questions!

Last week, Sarah, Tiara, Jessica, and Sarah submitted questions to me about issues they are personally facing in their network marketing businesses, and in this episode I go through them one-by-one.

06:29   Question #1 (Sarah) – How do I keep myself ‘unstuck?’  If you have been inconsistent for a really long time in your business, where do you even begin to build consistency, be an example to your team, and get the momentum going?

17:04   Question #2 (Tiara) – I’m a runner.  But, how do you change the speed and momentum of your team?  How do you adjust your expectations of other people who aren’t like you?

28:12   Question #3 (Jessica) – I want to cast vision and think BIG, but when I think about who I need to be in order to make that happen, it’s threatening my current identity BIG TIME.  How do I change my identity and shift into that person that I need to be?

39:42   Question #4 (Sarah) - How are you supposed to see yourself running a million-dollar company when you are so far in debt?   How can you truly believe that one day you’ll be able to retire your husband and spend every day together as a family when I barely ever get to see them now as it is?

116: How to Close Your Month out Strong and Crush Your Goals
46:59

Are you frustrated with team members who don’t take any action on their monthly goals?  Or how about team members who don’t even have monthly goals in the first place?  How can YOU, as the team leader, set and achieve goals based on relying on other people taking action?

Today I’ll be sharing with you leadership & team building strategies to help you close out a month strong with momentum and excitement to help you crush your goals. It’s a very different way to approach the topic of goal setting and working with your teams.

You don’t hit big goals in your business by trying to be everything to everyone

There are actually two parts to reaching a goal: 1) the setting of the goal, and 2) the action that takes place to meet the set goal.  But, how do you work with people who have not ‘owned it” and stated, “This is my goal for the month!”?

Effective goal setting and achievement is all about driving production and learning how to really motivate your people to action. And as leaders, we need to learn that owning a business with a ‘voluntary army’ of team members means we have to learn WHO and HOW to influence people on our team.  Influence is leadership!

And this is where I see a lot of team leaders struggle.  Most of your team members probably don’t even know how to set big goals and that these goals are, in fact, achievable. And instead of being a servant leader and working with the team members to help them define and achieve their own goals, we end being a “SELF-SERVING” leader, asking team members to contribute towards a ‘team goal.’

So many of us (myself included at one point), miss out on the concept of Legacy Leadership. Legacy Leaders understand that a personal goal means nothing unless it’s based on the solid foundation of helping other people succeed on their team and achieve their goals.

In this episode, I am going to share exactly how to reach your month-end goals through servant leadership, how to effectively set goals, and how to implement an action plan for hitting your goals in your team that puts your team first…but still allows you to crush your month-end goals in the process!

36:33

Knowing how to ‘think big’ is one of the most important skills you will ever learn in your life. Today we are going to talk about the magic of thinking big and how mastering this skillset transformed my business and TOTALLY CHANGED MY LIFE.

Greatness is believing in a dream for your life far beyond your current circumstances

Thinking big and developing a compelling vision for your life is an extremely important job as a leader. And if you own a business, then you ARE a leader!

Casting a vision for your life and how others’ lives can be is the starting point to being a great leader. Great leaders learn how to paint a vision for the future for themselves and their teams that inspires them to move into action!

However, the reason why most people are stuck and lack passion in either their business or life is because they lack vision. And I have to admit one of my own personal struggles was always using my past to determine what my future was going to look like.

But here’s what I want you to understand, your past or current circumstances have NOTHING to do with your future!

So join me in this episode as I share the magic of thinking big and the steps on how to create your own big vision for your future!

113: 3 Steps for Implementing New Systems
31:13

There are three simple steps to implementing any kind of new system or change into your business and into your team.

You will never scale your business beyond yourself without the proper systems

Let’s all admit it - most of us are into network marketing because we want a business that gives us FREEDOM.

However, as I look around our industry, I see a lot of network marketers who are NOT experiencing the freedom they crave.

Here’s the reality that a lot of ‘successful’ network marketing leaders don’t understand: If your business doesn’t run WITHOUT YOU, it’s not a business.  It’s a JOB.

I want you to know that you don’t need to be the ‘center of the universe’ on your team. In fact, I give you permission to purposely NOT be the ‘center of the universe’ on your team!

However, in order for you to grow a business that doesn’t 100% depend on you, you must develop leaders in your downline.  And to develop these leaders, you need a proper system in place to identify them and train them to step in and do what you do.

And so today, I am going to talk about why you need systems to scale your business, how it can develop the people in your team, the three steps for implementing new systems in your business, and the right attitude you need to have when implementing these changes.

112: The Gift of Failure
26:16

This episode is part 2 of a 2-episode series where we really dive into the subject fear plays in building a successful business. In part 1 we talked about what fear actually is and how you can actually change your thoughts actually perpetuate and feed that fear. If you haven’t listened to part 1, episode 111, see the link to it below!

In this pod episode, we dig farther into how exactly fear can be used to actually BUILD your business and how to adopting a healthier attitude towards failure is the key to unlocking success in your business and in your life.

The only way to get ‘unstuck’ in your business is to adopt a new mindset about failure

It is ingrained in us during childhood that failure is a horribly bad thing to avoid. We also think that two paths exist: one is a path towards success and the other is a path that leads us to failure.

However, the reality is that only ONE PATH EXISTS! Success and Failure are merely different steps or stages along the same path! You literally have to fail your way to success every single day. Failure is unavoidable on your way to success! We must shift our mindsets to understand this and accept it so that as we do meet failure during our journey, we can mentally check it off as a step in the process and move on!

Join me in this episode as I talk about my personal experience with failure, the biggest shift I had to make when it comes to failure, how to adopt a new mindset to the ‘NO’s’ in your business, and my action plans for you to increase your failure threshold.

111: How to Overcome Your Fear of Prospecting
28:01

In this podcast episode, we dive into a topic that I believe everyone can relate to which is how to overcome your fear of prospecting. I am going to give you a totally different way to look at fear and what I wish I would have known when I first started in network marketing.

The goal is not to eliminate FEAR… it is to build your FAITH

As humans we start off free from fear.  My son, Greyson, proves this!  He is a maniac and fearless in how he lives his life and what he’s willing to try each day.

However, over time, as humans, we start to develop a fear that resides deep inside of us.

When I started my own first network marketing business, I was so excited at first!....until I had to make that first phone call!  Then the fear stepped in!  In fact, I, Bob Heilig, hated prospecting at first!

Oftentimes, we wind up clinging to our fears because we want to be certain and be in control.

We can call fear different things, but I want you to understand that no matter the term you use, they are all the same.  And the solution to overcome every single type of fear is the same as well.

You need to know this - the solution is not eliminating fear; it is building up your faith.

To be successful in your business, you must break the habitual pattern of negative thinking that you’ve created in your life.  This way of thinking has created your current results!

You must be able to interpret the things you are scared of – the ‘no’s,’ the rejections, the lack of responses from people you respect – in a different way than your current emotions are allowing.

And so, in this episode, let’s dig a bit deeper on what exactly fear is, exactly why we love to cling to our fears, but also what you need to consciously and intentionally see to overcome fear’s grip on your life and your business.

As a leader, you must understand the importance of focusing on BOTH new acquisition as well as retention on your team. If you focus on retention of current team members too much, your team will eventually become stagnant. If you focus on personal recruiting too much, you’ll wind up building a team without any strong independent leaders and get stuck on the treadmill.

So today, I am going to share my number one strategy for increasing retention on your network marketing team.

Leaders must understand the importance of focusing on BOTH new acquisition and retention while building their teams

Without a doubt, retention is a big problem for most network marketers. Some days it feels like your team is a leaky bucket – you’re losing team members just as quickly as you’re signing on new ones!

However, retention is the key to unlocking long-term residual income and the eventual freedom that you so crave through your network marketing company! So, as a leader, you must understand the importance of focusing on BOTH acquisition and retention.

Join me in this episode as I share with you the concept of ‘the retention point,’ my number one strategy on how to retain people in your team, and the three things that leaders do differently while training new team members that result in higher, long-term retention.

108: It's the End of Network Marketing as We Know It
01:09:14

I truly believe that there is a fundamental shift happening inside the network marketing industry.  Just a few weeks ago, I hosted some of the best and brightest in network marketing for three days at my live event, the Impact + Growth Summit, and during my keynote, I spoke in depth about how network marketing, as the world has come to know it, is coming to an end.

The people that were sitting in front of me in the audience represented a new generation of network marketers who are doing things differently.  They are not ‘out for the next quick sale’ or to ‘get someone.’

Instead, these like-minded servant leaders are building their businesses from a place of abundance.  They are out to change the world, one person at a time, and create their own movement in the process.

The solution to scarcity is not abundance, but building your business through legacy leadership.

I truly believe that the ‘scarcity mindset’ that so many network marketers operate from is one of the biggest issues in our industry today.  However, we as individuals must begin knowing that you have a mission and responsibility to build your network marketing business from a mindset of abundance.

So, listen up and discover why you are here for a bigger purpose, the power of knowing your self-worth, and why we need to pursue legacy leadership as network marketers.

107: Do you Struggle with Consistency
32:49

Let’s take a moment and talk about the idea of inconsistency and why so many network marketers struggle with consistency in their business.

The struggle in taking consistent action is coming from a place of unworthiness

I personally believe that if you struggle with consistency in your business it is actually because you have limiting beliefs about yourself.

Your problem is NOT lack of time, or your spouse isn’t supportive, or the kids won’t give you 5 minutes to get your daily work done, or even that your job exhausts you! Nope! Inconsistency in your business actually is born out of issues of your own personal worthiness.

There are two types of people that experience inconsistency in their business.

The first type of person only struggles with consistency from time-to-time. Their business and productivity has highs and lows.

The second type of person finds consistency a constant and daily struggle.

Join me as I talk more about the role of identity and worthiness and how they impact the success of your business.

I also share different action plans that you can implement to overcome your own inconsistencies in your business.

105: Surrendering to God's Purpose in Your Life and Business
57:35

Today, Lindsay Matway, a 28-Star Diamond Beachbody coach, lifestyle coach, fitness and beauty MOMtrepreneur joins me to share her how she personally used her pain to develop her platform and how surrendering to God’s calling is how she found the strength to build an extremely successful business.

Operating the business from purpose gives me joy that I can't get from financial or recognition

Growing up with alcoholic parents, her oldest daughter born prematurely, drowning in medical bills, and going through bankruptcy, Lindsay Matway is no stranger to pain in life.  But, instead of drowning in her despair, this upbeat mother of 3 and business owner uses the bad times she went through as the bridge to build connections and to emotionally relate with people.

Today, she shares her personal journey into network marketing and how it became a vehicle to fulfill her God-given purpose.  She talks about how she transformed her life through her business and went from being broke to complete freedom, and through it all, using her values and faith in God as her compass for how to conduct and grow her organization.

Lindsay shares key takeaways on how to overcome the fear of failing publicly, which most network marketers’ experience at some point. Also, we have an awesome conversation about making the choice between the victim or victor.  In her words, ‘When I honor and know who is in control and stay committed to my journey no matter the bumps along the way, that’s when I rise up.’

Stay tuned as we have a peek inside Lindsay’s fitness story and how surrendering to God’s calling in her business changed her life.

Episode Quotes

"I wanted to create a legacy.  Something that I could hand down to my daughter."

“Who are you to decide which vehicle God is giving you to create a new path that will lead you to the life you want to give her.  Who are you to decide if someone is going to decide to join this business with you and actually have their lives changed.  Humble yourself a bit.  Do this and go all in.  What’s the worst that can happen?”

"Network marketing is a vehicle for us to live out the God given purpose for our life" – Bob

“God, use my story to be something more than just a sad story!”

“When I honor and know who is in control and stay committed to my journey no matter the bumps along the way, that’s when I rise up.”

"Because I am aligned with my purpose, and my heart is good, and the product works, I was the most joy-filled I had ever experienced in my entire life."

"Your circumstances are not going to change overnight, but the story you can tell yourself and to others can."

"The moment that you change your thinking in your story, you are already creating a better future for yourself." - Bob

"The cool thing about this business is we are forced to grow so much in every area of our life."

"Stop being this victim and start adding value to yourself."

"It is about how I can use my fear to be able to share my stuff into the world and empower others."

"When you're operating from purpose it goes from things that you have to do to things that you get to do." - Bob

"God doesn't gives us what we want. He gives us what we need." - Bob

"When I started living not just with a business but with a purpose, there is a joy that I can't get from financial or recognition."

104: How to Get Control of Your Health and Live a More Fulfilled Life
01:08:39

Today’s special podcast guest is none other than Chalene Johnson!

A global expert on both health and entrepreneurialism, Chalene joins me to talk about a subject I’ve never explored before on the YVU podcast – how your health affects the bottom line of your business.

Your health – how you feel, how you look, and your health mindset – affects your business mindset, how you make decisions, and how you ‘put yourself out there.’

Your health -  whether it’s in body, spirit, relationships, or finances -  builds confidence.

My mission has always been how can I help people get healthy - financially, physically, mentally and spiritually.

Chalene talks about her own health scare, how she was ashamed at first because of her standing in the health community, and how she eventually decided that her personal health scare had to be shared with others.

Her journey to get her health back became her message to her community, including her new book, “131 Method”, which delivers the personalized solution to wellness, hormone balance, and permanent weight loss that she personally used to get her personal health back.

Chalene also shares how her personal faith intersects with her business, and how she builds her business founded in the same principles that are founded in her faith.

Although in business we’ve traditionally been told not to mix faith and business together, when it comes to being your authentic self, Chalene and I chat about how it is important to her to let your tribe know about your beliefs, including your faith.

Episode Quotes

"My mission has always been how can I help people get healthy - financially, physically, mentally, spiritually."

"Developing the framework was even bigger than purpose, it was responsibility."

"Not every area of your life is going to have equal amount of attention but you can feel balanced. I call it PEACE."

"There is a difference between hearing information and applying it and that boils down to mindset."

"When you change your diet the way that you're supposed to then you've experienced freedom from food rules."

"Understand that nutrition can fix just about every major disease you can think of."

"The body will tell us what we want and what we don't want if we will actually listen to it."

"Diets do work! What doesn't work is the long term maintenance."

"Entrepreneurs don't understand how powerful their nutrition and lifestyle has an impact on their bottom line."

"We are most attracted to people with confidence; and confidence comes when we know what we're doing and we feel really good physically."

"Your health is not exercise and nutrition alone."

"The degree of being authentic depends on how you value yourself."

"Work is so much more enjoyable when you can totally be yourself and not worry about it."

"Sharing my faith solidified the relationship that we’ve had with our audience that is also strong in that area." - Bob

"The most ruthless, mean and close-minded emails I’ve ever received are from fellow Christians."

103: Choosing Purpose over Perfect
51:50

The most radical thing is walking on your own unique path - “Choose purpose over perfect”

In this episode, Lara shares that her personal faith in God grew while starting a garden and building her business, “Southern Weddings.”

Her personal passion for growing things – both plants and a business – taught her to exchange her fears for faith.  She founded ‘Cultivate What Matters’ that helps women set cultivated goals, cultivate faith and grow their marriages.

Lara and I talk about the trappings of chasing success and about saying ‘no’ to some areas of life so that we can go ‘all in’ to other areas of your life that God has called you to.

Lara coaches her fellow businesswomen to “choose purpose over perfect.” She wants women to build faith-filled and purpose-driven businesses, all while walking the unique path that God has created for you.  As Lara says, “Our purpose is not tied to our title.  Our worth is really about WHOSE we are.”

Episode Quotes

"My faith allowed me to have this insatiable desire for growing and tending things."

"Passion is sacrifice... it is the thing that you're so fired up about that you are willing to sacrifice for it."

"There is a FEAR that is about respecting something that tends to take control over us."

"It is a neat thing to take a risk and do a leap of faith."

"Sometimes success is actually the thing that distracts us most from making us successful."

"When we focus too much on the success and not on the efforts and the WHY then we lose sight of success."

"If you are not refueling yourself at the well then you can't fill anybody else."

"The most radical thing we can do is to walk our own unique path."

"I started to grow an authentic relationship with the Lord and gave up the identity that I'm stuck in."

"Your work is something that you do, not your purpose. Your purpose doesn't go to work; it goes to love."

"Our purpose is not tied to our title. Our worth is really about Whose we are."

"Doing business as ministry is not about sharing Bible verses all the time."

"Helping people is worth far more than your doubts."

102: Public Service Announcement
35:34

I have a Public Service Announcement for the entire network marketing industry:

STOP the copy and paste prospecting method!  It is KILLING our industry!

Spamming prospects with copy/paste, yucky language is not only killing our industry, it is also killing your own teambuilding results as well!

It is essential that each of us knows the correct way to message our prospects.

Unfortunately, most network marketers, because of using the spammy and unwelcome copy/paste method of reaching out to people, our industry is tainting people’s perception of us as individuals and the entire network marketing industry.

Personally speaking, I myself have received the spammiest message!

And this is not to put anybody down, some uplines teach their team to do it this way, but this is a call to all network marketers – STOP the copy and paste prospecting method immediately!

So, listen up as I share the 10 spammiest messages I got and the solutions to each of them for you to create a more effective prospecting message.

Episode Quotes

"The copy and paste prospecting method taints people's perception about network marketing. It's killing the industry."

"Never send a link to anything in your first reach out message."

"People don't look down on network marketing, they look down on network marketers."

"Do not ask people to join you before even knowing them."

"It is not about you. It is about your prospect."

101: How to Avoid a Victim Mentality in Your Business
48:09

Today I have a very special episode for you!  Preston Prugmire, a life coach and host of the “Next Level Life” podcast, joins me to talk about the deep inner work of mindset transformation and moving away from a victim mentality in our life and business.

Mindset is more important than strategy when it comes to success as an entrepreneur

Most network marketers have the issue we call “victim mentality.”

But what happens when we look at every single aspect of our life and say, “I’m no longer going to be a victim in my business.  I am no longer going to be a victim in my marriage.  I am no longer going to be a victim to my finances.”

We often focus on the gaps that exist in achieving success.  We look for what we accuse.  What we can embrace as an excuse for NOT being successful in an area of life.

We always think that we’re missing some strategy or quick fix that will actually create the success we crave.  However, what’s really holding us back is the fact that we embrace these excuses that allow us to be a victim in the first place!

Once we shift our mindset and not seek these excuses, we win the battle!  The strategy, tactic, action, or method will come along.  But, it’s the mindset shift that is the most important component in achievement!

So stay tuned as we’re going to discuss more about mindset transformation, surrender and success, and some very powerful insights from Preston about the issues of victim mentality.

Episode Quotes

"Mindset is more important than strategy when it comes to success as an entrepreneur."

"If you have the right mindset that your goals are inevitable then the path becomes less important."

"Take a breath and have some compassion for yourself."

"You need to hate your situation in order to get out of it."

"Gratitude is the gateway drug to joy."

"Surrendering is detaching my value from the outcome... and then I am not attached to the success or the failure."

"Success is the person you become along the way to your success."

"Whatever you are experiencing right now is a direct result of your past thinking."

"There is uncertainty in being a conscious creator, but there can be certainty within the creation."

100: Why Massive Action Doesn't Work
29:46

Can you believe it?!!

We have made it to my 100th episode of the Your Virtual Upline podcast!

I cannot thank each and every one of you for taking this journey with me!  Together, we have impacted people’s lives and the entire network marketing industry!

This podcast episode is a bit contrary to what most in the network marketing both believe and promote.

Brace yourself…

Massive action does not work for 92% of people.

Now I’m not saying that working hard, with both action and urgency, isn’t a great thing!

But, when most people talk about massive action, they are ONLY talking about the action and the urgency.  They miss a very important and critical piece, and that is also establishing IDENTITY.

“Take more and more action,” they say!  “Massive action is always the solution to your problem,” they say!

However, success is not JUST a matter of doing, but also a matter of BEING.

Whatever external results you have right now is just a reflection of your internal environment – your identity.

Here’s the action plan I lay out for you:

Instead of practicing the “Have-Do-Be” formula, you need to start doing the “Be-Do-Have.”

And I’m going to be with you in that process each step of the way!

My Legacy Leadership Academy is now open for a limited time, and I’ve created a Leadership Accelerator program for my new members!

See more information at www.legacyleadershipacademy.com

Episode Quotes

"Don't get me wrong that working hard isn't important, but there is a critical missing piece that many leaders missed."

"Your external environment will always be a reflection of your internal environment."

"You are never going to achieve your goals unless you first dig in to your identity."

"The conscious mind is the goal setter, but the subconscious mind is the goal getter."

"Success isn't a matter of doing, it's a matter of being."

"You can't change your life. Change your habits and your habits change your life."

99: How to Recruit 'Business Builders' into Your Network Marketing Team
20:16

Do either of these situations sound familiar?

  1. You can get customers easily, but you just can’t seem to sign any business partners and actually build a team.
  2. Or, you can recruit, but no one on your team ever sees any level of success.

If you’ve said a resounding “Yes, that’s me!” to either of the above, then I’m here to tell you your problem – you’re talking WAY too much!

You know everything about the product and the compensation plan!  And you’re more than happy to share all of those details!

You are stuck in the trap that a lot of network marketers get into – you’ve made yourself the expert.

And your prospects or team members CANNOT or DO NOT WANT to duplicate what you’re doing.  They do not see themselves as ever ‘being the expert’ like you are.

When Prospecting, the Less that You Say, the More You Make

I want you to understand this: the ‘training process’ for your new recruits starts the moment you open your mouth to them.

And the question that’s stuck in their mind is, “Can I do this?”

So as the leader, in order to demonstrate the SIMPLICITY of your business and able to duplicate it in your team, you must start TALKING LESS.

Once your prospects or team members see that they are simply sharing information in the form of third party tools (videos, recorded calls, etc), they are more likely to move forward because they see that they do not have to be ‘the expert’ like you!

Being ‘The Expert’ actually is killing your chance of building a successful and energetic team!

98: How Tony Robbins Changed my Life
37:28

I recently attended Tony Robbins’s live event, “Date with Destiny.” If you’re not familiar with Tony Robbins, he is one of the premier motivational and training coaches, and I’ve wanted to go to one of his live events for a long time! This specific event, “Date with Destiny,” is 7 days of nonstop life-changing training and workshops. It was the most life transforming experience, and today I want to share with you my biggest takeaways and huge aha moments!

If you want to feel fulfilled in your life, you must learn to grow and give beyond yourself.

One of the things that Tony really digs into is what drives you to do the work you do.

Prior to the event I really thought that my top 2 driving forces were significance and certainty.

But oh boy, I was wrong!

When Tony shared with the attendees The 6 Human Drives/Need, it truly shifted my mindset.

The problem with significance being one of your internal drivers is that it causes us to constantly see external validation. We seek attention and also want to feel that we are worthy of that attention.

However, the reality is, not everybody is going to like what we do in our life and business. There will always be critics and negative comments. Because you will never please everybody, significance is a game that you can’t ever win. It can never 100% be truly attained.

My second driver used to be ‘certainty.” We have this need to always have things figured out. To feel secure and that we can and do have everything under control.

But I want to tell you this, certainty does not exist. Nothing in life is certain. We need to step into the realm of faith because uncertainty is the true pathway to opportunity. Uncertainty is where we will experience new things which helps produce new and better results.

What I realized is this, true fulfillment in my work is learning to grow and step towards love and contribution.

So from here on out, I refuse to work from the need for significance and certainty.

Instead, moving forward, I will from a place of love and contribution.

I believe life is calling me for more. And I believe life is calling you for more, too!

Make sure you tune into my new Live Show every Monday - Friday at 12:00 EST on both my Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/YourVirtualUpline) and on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/bob_heilig)!

97: The #1 Way to Increase Engagement in Your Facebook Group
32:37

Let’s talk about Facebook groups. And exactly why you’re not seeing the engagement you would like inside your team, customer, and prospect Facebook groups! What I am going to share with you is what I believe the #1 way to increase engagement inside of your groups!

Why There isn’t much engagement in your Facebook group?

Here’s what I’ve noticed: 98% of the current strategies used by people to hopefully grow their network marketing businesses via Facebook groups is completely ineffective.

Here’s the truth - Most Facebook groups I see solely exist for the purpose of selling and promoting products, services, or business opportunities.

However, if your group exists only for this reason, the people in your community will immediately raise resistance. Most will not only be inactive inside the groups, but honestly, they probably don’t want to even be in the group in the first place!

While people LOVE to buy. They do NOT like to be sold to.

So, I want you to ask yourself: Why does your group exist? What are the problems you want to solve for people?

Instead of only posting product promotions and company events, I want you to really think about what you could post that would truly help people – posts that would add value to people’s lives, help them transform their life, and maybe even entertain them a bit along the way.

People do want to be a part of something bigger! And it is so easier to get them excited about being part of a movement that will change their life vs a Facebook group used to promote a product!

By doing this, you are giving them a reason to show up every day, to be excited to consume the content, and to also engage with your posts by liking, sharing, and commenting!

To learn even more practical strategies and actionable tips that you help you grow your Facebook group engagement, make sure and listen to the complete podcast!

I truly believe as you apply these tips and strategies, you will see the exact results that you’ve been looking for!

28:21

This may very well be the most important episode I will ever record on this podcast.

What I am going to share with you today has been something that I’ve believed to be true for some time now with all my heart and soul.

You’ve heard me saying about the concept of legacy leadership and how it is an assignment, a calling, a vehicle to help you carry out your purpose in life.

But, today I’m going to state in a much different way.

My friend, I want to let you know that there is a much bigger reason why you are here.

Your network marketing business is an assignment from God.

There are two parts in this assignment.

The first part of your assignment is to grow as a person and to face your fears.

It’s critical to understand that you only grow through fear. The fear of the unknown and thoughts like, “What if I’m not good enough?” and “What if I’m don’t look good to others?” are the very thoughts that limit you in fulfilling your purpose. Remember that your greatest fears will lead you to your biggest breakthroughs in life and your business.

In the process of facing your fears, you begin to get insight into the unique gifts that you have inside of you. Gifts that you were uniquely designed to have and that are to be utilized in serving other people on this earth.

I’ll quote from Picasso, “The meaning of life is to discover your gift and the purpose of life is to give it away.”

It is time to shift your focus from yourself to that outward focus of serving others. Facing your fears, growing, and walking through them allow you to be a person of service and impact on the other side. It’s during this process that you and your gifts strengthen and grow.

So stop telling yourself that you’re not good enough, because trust me, you are! God doesn’t create junk!

95: The Secret to Motivating Your Team
25:17

Why should you focus on building a team?

It’s pretty simple.

Building an organization is the ONLY way that you will ever achieve TRUE freedom in your network marketing business.

Yes, you can sell products and still earn additional income to assist your family.

However, true financial and time freedom is only accomplished with a team. Having a team allows you to increase and scale the impact that you can make in the world exponentially. The bigger the team you have, the bigger the impact that you’ll make in your business.  And because money is a reward for the amount of value you give to the world, of course, the more money you will make as well.

The Secret to Motivating Your Team is Leverage

The problem, though, is that leaders are taught to focus on the wrong things in their business.

As a result, they not only struggle growing their business, but they also struggle as a leader.

Here is the secret I want to share with you when it comes to motivating your team – it’s called LEVERAGE!

Leverage is having the power to influence a person or a situation to achieve a particular outcome.

When it comes to creating leverage within an organization, you must understand these two concepts – WIDTH and DEPTH.

Width refers to the people that you personally recruit into your business and this is the first thing that you need to focus when starting a business.

Depth on the other hand, refers to the people that come into your team through the people that you personally recruited. Yes, what naturally happens over time is depth starts to develop but I want you to know that depth is your responsibility. You need to have that “chasing the business” mindset.

As a leader, don’t wait for depth to happen.  Go out and make it happen for yourself. And trust me, when you can build depth in a team it does something very powerful.

94: The Paradox of Failure
15:26

If you truly want to reach your full potential, start failing FASTER and MORE OFTEN

I’ve spoken before about something called the ‘Speed of Implementation.’

This simply means that the faster you take action in business or in life, the more you increase your chances of success.

It’s pretty common for each of us to make up excuses or make up stories as to why we’re not ready yet, like, “I’m not good enough,’….or “It needs to be perfect”.

All of these are really just lies that we tell ourselves to justify not our decision to play small and not face our fear of taking action.

However, you must know that the lessons that we learn through our failures are a thousand times more important to us than any one ‘yes’ or successful result will ever be.

When you push past your fears, you grow as a human being.

One of two VERY important things happen when you take action - you either get the result that you wanted…or you get the lesson that you needed to grow as a human being.

Remember, the greatest gift that this profession has to offer any of us, far greater than all the money in the world, is the person that we become as we achieve our dreams.

This is the paradox of failure!  The more we fail…the faster we fail…the more lessons we learn…the more we grow as a person!  The failure is what makes us who we need to be!

So take action!  Implement faster!  Fail more and more!

Because by doing so, you will uniquely develop to accomplish exactly what you were put on this earth to do!

93: The 3 Types of Momentum
31:20

Team Momentum is the Key to Long-Term Success

Have you ever experienced Momentum in your life?  That state of energy, excitement, and action?  In network marketing, we hear a lot about creating momentum.  And I’m often asked if momentum is actually achievable?  Or is it a myth that we chase?  The truth is momentum DOES exist.  And, it can be created by you! There are three types of momentum: personal momentum, company momentum, and team momentum.

Personal momentum is when you are personally seeing results in your business, and this is the first step in creating team momentum. Company momentum is when there is a lot of hype about a company or a product.  A great example of company momentum would be when you’re in a new company that is seeing a lot of at the right time. The third one is team momentum. Of the three, our key focus needs to be on creating team momentum, as team momentum is the key to your long-term success in this business!

If you want freedom in your business as well as long term success, then aim for creating team momentum.

How to Create Team Momentum

As a leader, you must learn to create team momentum in your business. There are three requirements that must be in place to achieve the type of team momentum we all crave in our businesses. One is giving your team a clear outcome or goal to work towards. Second is accountability to achieving those goals. Lastly, there should be transparency within the team.

Also, you must understand the importance of having simple systems in 5 key areas of your business. To create duplication, and as a result momentum, you must have in place simple systems that each and every team member can follow in these 5 areas:  prospecting, opportunity presentation, training new team members, leadership development, and recognizing action and achievement.

Episode Quotes

"The first step to creating team momentum is you must be in personal momentum."

"Slow and steady does not win the race... success loves speed."

"If you want long term and lasting success, team momentum is the only way to get there."

"Team momentum only comes as a result of duplication."

92: Is Attraction Marketing Killing Your Business?
19:50

Attraction Marketing Might be Hurting Your Business

There’s a theme that I’ve been noticing a lot lately inside the network marketing industry.

A lot of network marketers do not understand the correct role of attraction marketing within their businesses.

So many people make the mistake of thinking that attraction marketing is actually working their business, when in fact, they’re not!

Attraction marketing is a ‘marketing activity’ – hence it’s name, and marketing does not qualify as actually working your business.

Working your business is the actual prospecting activities that create income and build a team.  It means actively doing your reachouts, follows ups, training new team members, enrolling customers, and exposing new people to your business and products.

Marketing activities create opportunities for you to work your business. It is lead generation.  It is the process of getting your name out there, creating your personal brand, and attracting people to you, sometimes before they even know anything about your company or products.

And the crazy part is some people are spending more time on attraction marketing to avoid facing their fears and doing the actual hard work!

Because they are scared of the rejection and vulnerability that can come from reaching out to people, they hide behind the guise of attraction marketing, pretending instead that they are ‘working their business’ while reading books and creating graphics for their next post.

And then they wonder why their team isn’t growing at all.

Marketing + Prospecting = Results

Marketing alone is not enough. Lead generation is not enough.

You need to reach out, connect, and start a conversation with your leads.

While you must do both marketing activities and prospecting activities s to build a successful team long term, it is absolutely necessary that 70-80% of your time is spent on prospecting activities.

In the end, attraction marketing will expose new people to you and your business opportunity, but unless you’re doing the prospecting activities as well – the reachouts, follow-ups, and new customer enrollments – you will not build the lifestyle of freedom that you crave!

Episode Quotes

"Attraction marketing for a lot of you is actually hurting your business more than it is helping your business."

"Marketing does not qualify as actually working your business."

"Marketing is designed to create opportunities for you to work your business."

"Marketing is passive... prospecting is active."

"If you are only doing marketing but you are not prospecting it's not going to work."

Too Much Training…Is It Possible?

Absolutely, YES!

Consuming too much training is an epidemic in network marketing.

And honestly, it’s not hard at all to see how this can happen!  Every single day we are inundated with opportunities to consume more training material – the blogs, podcasts, Facebook groups, LIVES, company calls and more!

The reality is that people on our teams are spending too many of their precious working hours consuming training material versus the actual productive activities that will result in building a team and generating an income.

They are constantly ‘getting ready’ to start their business instead of actually working the business!

Listening to training has become an approved way to procrastinate on the hard daily activities that are required to build a successful network marketing business!

Our team members are tricking themselves into thinking they are ‘working their business.’

But, in fact, they’re spending countless hours in trainings – and those training hours do not result in the new team members or product sales that they actually need to generate income!

For a lot of people, they sit and listen to trainings so they can avoid the harder daily activities – like reach-outs and follow-ups.

And so many of them don’t even realize what is happening.  They literally feel busy and that they have ‘worked their business.’

Your Responsibility to Your Team: a Time Audit

So now it’s time to ask yourself: Are the people on your own team overwhelmed with too much training?  On average, how much time each week does it take for them to consume the training that is encouraged by you, their leader?  Or by your company?

Take a bit of time this week and perform a Time Audit.  I go through each of the steps in this podcast, and trust me, you will be shocked after you are done!

It is downright eye-opening and shocking how much time can be spent listening to ‘encouraged training.’

As a leader, it is your job to educate team members on the difference between ‘consumption’ and ‘production.’

You must set boundaries, decide which select trainings belong in your training system, enforce the importance of action and productivity, and constantly remind your team members of this.

Remember, less is more when it comes to training.  In this profession, we earn as we learn.  New team members do not need to know everything before they begin building a team.

And as a leader, your goal must be to create a culture of action and production….NOT of consumption.

90: Mastering Your Money Mindset
39:53

Everyone has Limiting Beliefs about Money

In all honesty, every single one of us has some type of limiting belief about money.

And most of them were formed during our childhood – before the age of 8 to be exact!

Ever heard your parents or other people say these phrases:

“Money is the root of all evil.”

“Money does not by happiness.”

“The more money you have, the more problems you have.”

If your childhood was anything like mine, you heard these ‘limiting belief statements’ as well. And once these false beliefs are part of your mindset, success will always be an uphill battle!

My Own Journey… and How Important it is to Have Self Worth

Growing up I barely saw my dad because of his work schedule.

I formed this belief that making money is difficult and in order to be successful you have to be willing to sacrifice your personal life and family.

And during school shopping days I remember my mom would say, “What?!!  Do you think we’re rich?”

These words greatly impacted my self-worth. It made me felt wrong to want nice things and that I wasn’t worthy of them.

But you know what?  Your self-worth will build your net worth.

The moment that I established my own self-worth, I also started to master my mindset around money.

5 Steps to Overcoming Your Limiting Beliefs About Money

In this podcast, I teach you the 5 steps you need to take to master your own money mindset.

  1. Identify your limiting beliefs around money
  2. Change your thoughts and be responsible for your thoughts
  3. Change that way you talk about money
  4. Change your beliefs
  5. Reprogramming your mindset, and replace those limiting beliefs

Click HERE to download the 5 Steps to Master Your Money Mindset worksheet!

Again, change will not happen overnight. This may take a while but I know you can do it.

Episode Quotes

The three keywords are… “what something means.”

“Having limiting beliefs around money and success are like trying to drive a car with the parking brake on all the time.”

"Your self-worth will build your net worth."

“Your beliefs will always rise to the surface at some point.  It’s not what you SAY, it’s what you truly BELIEVE to be true that will ultimately rule.”

89: Have You Made the Shift
08:11

The Reason Why You Are Stuck in Your Business

Over and over again, I see a consistent theme as to why some leaders get stuck in their business.

Maybe the story sounds familiar to you – you’re taking daily action, you’re reading the personal development books, and no one can keep up with you!  You are ON FIRE!

But…unfortunately, it’s just you.  None of your teammates are doing the same.  They just don’t seem to have the same ‘spark’ that you do.

Here’s the thing - at some point you MUST learn to make the shift from your own personal development to leadership development. If you want long term growth for your business, you need to have leaders in your team.

You’ll only get so far on your own efforts…. That’s where intentional leadership development comes in.

Make That Shift to Leadership Development

When you first begin in network marketing, it is all about developing and growing yourself.  But at some point, you MUST make the switch, take all of that newfound knowledge and wisdom, and begin pouring it into other people on your team.

Do you still remember the concept of ‘Intentional Leadership?’  I talked about it in Episode 65, “Are You An Accidental Leader?” if you need to listen to it.  The people on your team need someone who will challenge them and develop them, somebody who will confront them when they are doing wrong. So what I want you to do is implement the strategies of Intentional Leadership and start pouring into the lives of everyone around you.

Episode Quotes

“You must learn to make the shift from your own personal development to leadership development if you want to create true freedom.”

"If you can move product, you can make money. If you can teach people to move product, you can make a good living. But if you can move people, you can change lives and make a fortune in the process." - Lisa Grossman

"To sustain momentum and growth long term... you must be good at getting others to do what it takes to make the plan work."

“There are a SPECIFIC set of skills in the area of leadership that you need to master if you really want to create freedom in your business.”

“You DO play a role in the success or failure of the people on your team.”

"We are only going to get so far on our own efforts."

“The biggest thing that is missing for people, is they are taking a way too ‘hands off’ approach to the way that they lead their team.”

“Sometimes you must step in as the leader of your team and confront people, tell them things sometimes that they don’t WANT, but NEED to hear in order to get better.”

The Success Equation

Maybe you’ve seen one of these people in your own company…

They come out of the gate fast and furious.  And in a short period of time, they make rank after rank, building a large team with fast momentum along the way.  They’re getting all of the accolades, awards, and attention that you so desperately crave for yourself.

And you think, “What’s their secret?!!  What do they have that I don’t?!!  What are they doing that I’m not?!!”

The truth of the matter is that there absolutely is a success equation that determines how fast you will see success in network marketing.

Your Personal Growth x Quality of Your Relationships x Your Intensity of Effort = Business Results

But the great thing is that YOU have 100% control over the three parts of this ‘success equation!’

The More YOU Grow, the More Your Business Grows

First of all, stop comparing YOUR growth with others. The truth is, your journey is YOURS, and it's going to be different for each and every single one of you.

But what you also need to know is that to grow your business, all you need to do is intentionally and daily grow in each of these three areas.

Your business grows when you intentionally develop your leadership skills.

Your business grows when you intentionally give and develop a ‘relational account’ with every person in your life.

Your business grows when you truly begin to show up in your business with excitement and enthusiasm.

You see the most exciting part of all of this, is that no matter how bad you’ve been, you can turn this around TODAY and start tipping the scales in your favor.

Episode Quotes

“Network marketing is a personal development program with a compensation plan attached.”

“The quality of the relationships around you in your life have a massive impact on results.”

“You will either reap the rewards or pay the price of the life that you’ve lived prior to joining your network marketing business.”

“You still have to show up every day and demonstrate an INTENSITY to your effort that shows you really are committed to success.”

“Your network marketing business is an assignment from the universe to help you evolve and grow as a human being.”

“The first step to getting where you want to go in your business, is first acknowledging the reality of where you are.”

87: Defeating Your Fears
09:31

Fear Disappears When You Focus on Serving Others

Do you have what I like to call “success mindset?”

“Success mindset” is when all you can think about is what YOU can get from the business. Oftentimes leaders have this “success mindset.”

And unfortunately, ‘success mindset’ doesn’t just build ego…it also builds fear.

Leaders with this mindset don’t try new things because they are afraid of failure. But this is exactly how you should NOT operate!

If you want to defeat fear, focus on serving others. Shift to building a legacy of leadership.  Shift to impacting the world by transforming the lives of other people.

Whatever Fear You Have Right Now, That is What You Are Meant to Do

Join me in this episode, as I share with you a story about my own early days in network marketing.  Let’s just say, I was a disaster.

I was scared of so many things!

But everything changed and that fear disappeared when I became crystal clear about my own purpose - that I am here to help people be successful.  I am here to transform lives…and you are too.

86: Beware of the ‘Good Enough’ Plateau
18:27

When ‘the Good’ Becomes ‘the Enemy of Great’

What’s up everybody, welcome to Episode 86. Today I’ve got a powerful message especially for those of you who are feeling stuck!  It’s called “Beware of the ‘Good Enough’ Plateau.”

Here is the thing - some of us, especially when we’ve already experienced a bit of success in our business, tend to stay in the same ol’ place.  Over and over again, we do the same things, and they produce the same ol’ results.

You need to know, this is a MAJOR reason why most leaders are stuck in their business. Maybe we just can’t seem to get to that next level.  Or our income seems to stay the same month-over-month-over month.

Externally, we look successful to our family and friends, but inside we know that there’s more to accomplish in your life and business.  But we’re so stuck…

Unfortunately, we get to a certain ‘success’ point in building our business and then ego starts to creep in.  We become unwilling to try new things. We tend to stop venturing into new ways of conducting our business that will grow ourselves personally and our team, too.

This is when ‘the good’ becomes ‘the enemy of great.’

Set Aside Your Ego and Reinvent Yourself

If you want your business to build a legacy and impact others, then you need to learn to stretch yourself, venture into new areas, and take the risk of not looking good from the people around you.

So, join me in this episode as I share my own story.  Learn how you can reinvent yourself!  Scare yourself!  Challenge yourself!  -- and grow your business along the way.

Episode Quotes

"One of the traps of the good enough plateau is ego starts to creep in."

"If you want to make a massive impact in the world, you must continue to stretch yourself and venture into the land of uncertainty."

"We must learn to reinvent ourselves if we want to go to that next level in our life."

"Your confidence cannot be tied to your competence if you want to reach your full potential."

85: Stay in Your Own Lane
14:33

Comparing yourself with others kills your authenticity

Have you ever found yourself comparing what you’re doing in your business to the people around you, and falling into the negative space of ‘comparitis’?  I know that I’ve been guilty of that in my own business.  What I’ve noticed is that the more I look at what other people are doing, it starts to create negative thoughts and energy in my own mind. I always look at what others are doing, and wonder if what I’m doing is good enough.  What I’ve found over time, is this actually begins to kill your own authenticity.

It’s time to create some space for you to be yourself

I once heard on a podcast called ‘Making Oprah’, where Oprah was asked how she maintained her own authenticity, with all the competition that was popping up on daytime TV.  I thought her answer was so profound.  She simply said that they had this policy called “Stay in Your Own Lane”.  She said that she never once ever watched a single episode of her competitors.  That answer literally floored me… and it empowered me to make a decision that has had a profound effect on my life.  I stopped paying attention to what everyone else around me was doing, and started to create pace for me to be who I really am, and create authentic content on social media.

So join me in this episode as I share to you some action plans on how to do that, how I got inspiration from other people outside my space, and finally, how to be confident and be yourself.

Episode Quotes

"Anytime I started taking my eye off the ball in my own court and looking what other people were doing... it created a lot of negative energy in my head"

"Stay in your own lane... I never in my life watched a single episode of one of our competitors" - Oprah

84: How to Avoid Burnout and Overwhelm
22:33

In this episode, I’ll be giving you some tips on how to avoid burnout and overwhelm, on how to build a business around your life and not the opposite.  I'll go over how critical resting and renewal is to the success of your business.

I’ll begin by sharing with you a trend that I see with a lot of leaders around me. I’ve noticed that they are not self-caring when it comes to building their business and the type of business they are building. This often leads to burnout, ruining family relationships and even affecting their personal health. Yes, our goal is freedom and success, but what good is success if it ruins other aspects of our lives?

If you carefully implement the tips in this podcast, then I believe that you’ll achieve positive lifestyle outcomes.

Tip #1: Start leveraging the power of technology

- The technology is already available for us; all we need to do is use it to our advantage. I suggest that you embrace things like doing a live video and hone your skills in marketing on social media.

Tip #2: Be more intentional about developing leaders on your team

- As leaders, we usually have this mindset that we must be on available 24/7. The catch is, to serve your team at the highest level you must become less available to them. Start working with your team and focus more on leadership development.

Tip #3: Be intentional about scheduling your business hours

- You need to set a dedicated time for work hours as well as family or self-time. Yes, you must be flexible in the needs of the business, but at the same time create those boundaries. Learn to create boundaries around your work and your personal life. Have that time of rest or simply a dedicated time with yourself, your spouse or your children.

In order for you to avoid burnout, understand the importance of rest and renewal, learn the importance of being intentional in your business, work smart and think about positive lifestyle outcomes.

83: The Speed of Implementation
09:24

In this 5-minute Friday episode, I will be sharing about Speed of Implementation.

Speed of implementation is basically the willingness to take what you learn and implement it by taking action; and this is one thing I notice successful people doing. On the other hand, this is also the number one reason others are struggling. They are just too slow to implement what they know and learn.

Most of us have a false assumption that people are decisive because they have it all figured it out. Well, here’s the thing, they take action because it’s the only way they’re going to figure things out. Stop waiting until you feel ready because you will never feel ready. It’s all about testing. Knowing what’s going to work and what’s not going to work.

The reality is, some people are going to say YES, and some are going to say NO, but that’s OK. Don’t let fear hinder you, and when you start to doubt, that’s the time you take action.

Here is my challenge:

First, write down three things that you’re going to implement in the next 7 days. Second, consume less and do more in the next 7 days. It’s time to take action and put into play what it is that you've learned.

82: 5 Steps to Building Your Home Business Empire
58:59

Today's episode is a special interview with John Melton. I am very thrilled to have John on the show today because I know he will be sharing a lot of valuable insights about social media marketing.

Truth be told, there are a lot of social media marketers struggling in their business. There a a couple problems they have in common.  One would be that they do not create enough generic value to attract people.  Another would be that they’re just thinking about themselves and what they can get from the business. So, in this episode, John will be sharing the 5 Steps to Building Your Home Business Empire.

  1. Prospecting and Attracting Leads

Your goal is to set up your online presence, so you need to create one piece of valuable content every day. In order to create a following, you need to post something that creates curiosity. Share something inspirational, or contents that you have read in a book. You can also set your brand. What do you want people to know for?

  1. Connecting with Leads

Once you have those leads, you must connect with them. Build relationships with those people who like, comment or engage with your posts. But the key thing is, don’t be pushy. You want to be human first, marketer second; build that social equity with your contacts.

  1. Inviting People to Look at Your Product/Business

After building rapport with your leads, you can then make an offer. But again, don’t be pushy. You are there to give them information that will help them with their problems. Share your testimony on how the business or product changed your life. Face your fear of making an offer, just be bold in sharing what’s going on.

  1. Follow Up and Close

Following up is another essential key in building your home business empire. An effective way of doing this is creating a group chat for those people that are open and want to stay in touch. Have a group chat for those that are interested in your business/product because your prospects need to also meet other people within your circle.

  1. Teaching Them How to Master the 4 Steps

The end goal is to be able to teach these steps to the new clients. Again, it’s all about legacy leadership; helping people changed their lives and reaching their full potentials.

81: The Difference Between Being a Leader and a Top Performer
06:59

In this episode, I talk about the difference between a leader and a top performer. We usually have a notion that these two are synonymous, but the truth is, not all top performers are leaders and you don’t necessarily have to be a top performer to be a leader.

Top performers aim for results but leaders aren’t judged by their results. Leaders are judged by looking at their team.

So what are the qualities of a leader?

1. They lead by example

- What are you doing today to lead your organization? Leaders should be models, especially on the way they lead. As a leader, you must be intentionally working with your team.

2. They help lift up the people in their team

- Again, legacy leadership. It’s all about developing others in your team. Take the spotlight off of you and put your people on stage. Leaders get more joy when their people win.

So, are you a leader or a top performer?

80: The Biggest Mistake People Make When Prospecting on Social Media
27:43

The reason why most people struggle in network marketing is because they are taught to focus on the wrong things. Network marketers have this “Success Mindset”, wherein they focus more on personal gain and what they can get from their network marketing business. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with having success goals, but if that’s your final destination, then you will see yourself struggling with prospecting people.

Somebody asked me, “What would you consider to be an effective Facebook prospecting post?” I thought about it, and understanding the concept of Legacy Leadership, a better question would be, “What would be the best thing for me to post on Facebook to help me make the biggest impact?”

Actually, social media has shifted to quality over quantity. In other words, posting your stuff and inviting people every day to join your business doesn’t work anymore. So, in this episode, I’m going to share with you a business strategy that you can apply to be successful in prospecting.

I have this concept called “Learning Out Loud”, and it focuses more on impact over income, quality over quantity. So anytime you hear, read or learn something that educates and empowers you, all you need to do is share that content with others on social media. Your goal is to enhance people’s lives by what you share. And the moment you share something that has value to someone, you immediately become valuable to them. This then creates that connection and relationship, and we all know a successful prospecting is born of that relationship.

Stop thinking like a customer, and start thinking like a marketer. Marketers think everything around us is potential content to share with others.

So here is my challenge for you: Start to share that quote that inspired your life, the strategies you heard on podcasts or read in a book. Get those old notebooks that you’ve accumulated and find something in there that you can share with someone else. Remember, teaching is the fastest way to success.

79: Stop Selling an Opportunity and Start Prescribing Solutions
08:51

Welcome to another episode of 5-minute Friday. Today, I will be talking about how to effectively prospect people for your network marketing business.

Let me start with this, “People are not looking for opportunities, they are looking for solutions.”

The reality is, most of our prospects already have busy lives; they have jobs, they businesses, and they have family obligations. Basically, they don’t need another opportunity that will consume their time. What they need are solutions to the everyday problems that they have in their lives.

So here is my suggestion: Instead of coming to them as a salesperson, act more as a consultant. Determine what their needs are. Start asking questions. Know their problems, listen to them, and determine what is missing. Think like a doctor. You are there to prescribe solutions.

78: Stop Trying to Find Leaders, and Focus on Creating Them
24:13

One of the biggest misconceptions when it comes to building a successful business is the idea of finding leaders and superstars to be part of a team. We get frustrated when our team doesn’t have the same level of commitment that we do, and we often go out and try to find the best leaders. Well, the truth is, you can build your business without having a person just like you. You don’t need to magically find leaders. You can help to create them.

In this episode, I'm going to share with you how to shift your focus from personal development to leadership development. I will also leave you with some action plans on how to increase your leadership level and how to grow your team.

I suggest that you stop spending all your time trying to find leaders, and instead keep focusing on your existing team. Your people have all the skills, excitement and character. All you need to do is to challenge them in a way that leads to their growth. Stop blaming and start leading them so they can reach their full potential.

John Maxwell has this idea called “The Leadership Lid”. It basically means that the level of your team depends on YOU. You attract what you are. Let’s say you have a leadership level of 5. In that case, you will most attract people on that level or below that level. You are the common denominator in the development of your team.

Of course, as leaders, we don’t want that to happen. So here is my question for you: What do you need to start doing today?

Here are some action plans that will help you increase your leadership level:

1. Make an honest assessment of where you are in your leadership

The best way to do this is by looking at your team. Your team is a great reflection of who you are as a leader. Ask yourself, are you guiding them every step of the way? Are you challenging them and giving them that confidence?

2. Start seeing the greatness of each and every one in your team

The reality is, people show up based on how you see them. You need to start looking at your people in terms of who can they become, not who they are. See their potential, their talents, then start to lead, inspire and empower them to reach their full potential.

My challenge to you:

Start the process of increasing your leadership level and ability. Focus on leadership development. Focus on impact over income, and trying to make a difference in the lives of others.

I tell you, there is no greater joy than seeing your team growing and their lives being changed because of you.

77: My Personal Challenge to You
10:06

The reality is, that most of us don’t believe we have something valuable to offer. We think that nobody cares about the content we share. But, let me tell you this, every single one of us has information that can change someone’s life if we are just willing to share it.

In this episode, I am going to challenge you to go out there, share your content, and do a Facebook Live Video. It’s time to break those lies in your mind that tell you that you don’t have something valuable to offer. Don’t let that fear hinder you from achieving your success. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t earned a dollar yet. If your content helps and inspires, then that’s what matters.

Here is the thing; money is a reflection of two things: Value that you put into the marketplace and the amount of people you serve on a daily basis. Doing Facebook Live video is going to escalate these two things. It’s going to create the best version of you, add value to others and get your message in front of more people.

76: How to Use Facebook Groups to Grow Your Business?
41:54

Most of you are probably already using Facebook groups in some way to build your network marketing business. Whether it’s a ‘VIP Customer Group’ or some type of ‘Team Training Group’. The biggest issue that I see happening for people that are running these Groups, is that there is very little to no member engagement. The poor engagement inside the Group usually also means that you’re not seeing much in the way of results.

In today’s episode I’m going to give you a blueprint to change that… starting right now. In my opinion, Facebook Groups are one of the best tools that we have as network marketers to make more product sales, and get more recruits. IF you use them properly. I’ve found that very few people actually know how to run their Groups the right way… and that’s why they’re not seeing any results.

I’m going to teach you how to run your Groups the RIGHT WAY in this training, and if you implement what you learn, you’re going to 10x your results.

Here are some of my top tips that you’ll learn in this episode:

Do not use your company name in the group name, branding or image
The goal is to build a community in the Group that has value far beyond just your products or services. Create the Group concept around some bigger mission or purpose that is tied to your products. This way it will be easier to attract like-minded people, and they will actually stick around for the community.

Open the Group up to your team to join and invite their prospects
This may sound crazy, but here is the thing, what makes more sense: dozens of people in your team having smaller ineffective Groups, or putting together one really well run group? I’ll go into more detail in the episode why I think this is a critical strategy for success.

Film a "Welcome Video" inside your group
Create a ‘Welcome Video’ that welcomes all new members, explains the overall mission and purpose of the Group, and encourages them to become active members. This is the ‘first impression’ of anyone that is added to the Group. It sets the tone for everything else that happens for them as a member.

Make sure you’re creating generic valuable content
Make sure 70 - 80% of the content you create isn’t making a sale or a promotion. Focus on creating content that educates, entertains, and empowers the members. This is very important if you want to increase the member engagement. Give them a reason to show up in the Group every single day.

Run challenges inside of the group
This is by far my number 1 tip to help you grow your group FAST, increase member engagement, and make more product sales. I’ll go through step-by-step how to do this in the episode.

My final word to you is this… if what you’re doing is already working then there’s no need to make major changes. Take some of the ideas in this episode and make what you’re doing even better. But if what you’re doing isn’t producing consistent sales, recruits and growth then be open to the fact that there may be a better way.

75: Are You Overwhelming Your Team?
08:13

It’s great to have you on our very first special episode (5-minute Friday). This is a shorter version of our regular podcasts, and this is happening every Friday. Today’s episode is all about the question for leaders: “Are you overwhelming your team?”

One of the biggest mistakes that I see leaders making, is overwhelming their team with too many things to do each week when it comes to training. A lot of times it happens gradually over time, and we never even recognize this problem. There’s multiple Facebook Groups they’re in, multiple training calls to get on every week, and we recommend to follow this person and that person online. Before we know it, our people are spending hours and hours every week ‘getting ready to go to work’, but never actually working!

The first step as the leader of your team is you must step back and take a look at everything you’re asking your team to do on a weekly basis. Understand that if you make something ‘available’ to them, it’s likely that they’ll participate. It’s the path of least resistance really. So decide what is , and what isn’t important. Your people should be focusing 80% of their time actually working (that means prospecting, presenting, following-up and enrolling people).

As the leader you must become fanatical about protecting your people’s time. Give them clear direction on what they should and shouldn’t be doing. Protect them from the barrage of information and training that you know is going to be thrown at them. Constantly be reinforcing what they should and should not be doing. Keep them focused on taking ACTION.

Create a culture on your team where there’s a simple, clear system for training and support… and one where action is celebrated and recognized.

Episode Summary

Welcome to Episode 74.  Today we’re going to talk about How to Eliminate Negative Self-Talk. As we have previously shared, negative thoughts are a big reason why many don’t succeed. In this episode we’re going to dive deeper into the power of thinking and taking responsibility of these thoughts.

As Winston Churchill said, “The price of greatness is responsibility”.  The same thing goes with our thoughts. We have the power to choose them.

I am going to show you some steps to follow that will help you gain control over your thoughts.

STEP 1: Be aware of the thoughts in your mind

- Start to raise the awareness of your thinking. Know what you think most of the time. Is it negative or positive?

STEP 2: Take responsibility of these thoughts

- Remember the concept about the “garden” and the “weed”. You must pull the weeds (negative thoughts) so that they will not overpower the garden. Discipline your mind to focus on the positive. Water your dreams and your goals with positive thinking.

Here is another example.  If you believe that you’re unworthy of success, then your mind starts to kick in and you’ll look for confirmation of that belief.  So, instead of thinking that you don’t deserve success, start to look for proof of your worthiness; know your talents. Overcome your fear and cross over that chicken line.  Start looking for the small wins along the road of success.

Another way to take responsibility of your thoughts is learning to be grateful.  If you want to be more motivated in your business, gratitude is the gateway drug to motivation.

Again, it all starts in your mind.  What are the thoughts that you’re entertaining on a daily basis?  Always remember that change doesn’t happen overnight. You need to have some patience. Give yourself the time to make things better.

Here is what I want you to do:  Spend the entire next couple of days really paying attention to your thoughts. I want you to focus on the positive on every situation.  It’s time for you to stand guard at the door of your mind.

73: How to Get Unstuck in Your Business
19:37

In this episode we’re going to be talking about fear. Many of you already know what you should be doing to be successful in your network marketing business, but for some reason, you’re either not doing it or you are not doing it consistently. You may be feeling discouraged and stuck, and I’m going to explain why you’re feeling this way. I’m also going to give you a framework and process to help you start facing your fears to create the breakthrough you’re looking for.

If you’re feeling stuck in your business, there’s most likely one big reason: you have been unwilling to face the greatest fears that you have in your business. The things that we avoid and know we’re supposed to do are oftentimes the things that we fear the most.

I want to introduce you to something called Creative Interpretations. Whenever we face our greatest fears, we make up a STORY around that very thing that is scaring us. That does one of two things:

1 - It keeps you from taking the action, and justifies you playing small and not facing your fears, called a Red Light.

Or 2 - Or you will make up a story about that particular event or situation that will empower you to feel the fear and take the action anyway, be courageous, which is called a Green Light.

The difference between successful people and people that fail is not that they don’t feel fear - it’s that they make up different stories that empower them to be courageous.  They condition themselves to always look at the positive.

I want you to catch yourself the next time you create a negative story that makes you stop at a red light. I want you to force yourself to look at the positives and tell yourself why you NEED to be doing what you’re doing.

Every time you face a fear and play small, it kills your enthusiasm, belief, and confidence. And that’s why some of you are so stuck. The moment you make the decision to do it a different way and start creating green lights, you grow - even if the results aren’t there in the beginning.

It’s not going to be easy - it will take dedicated practice. However if you do this long enough, you’ll condition yourself to do it from the positive instead of the negative.

Here’s what matters: the person you become in the process of overcoming your fears. That is the greatest gift that you will be offered through this business.

Hopefully you get a ton of value out of the training, feel free to share the episode with anyone that you think it could help!

72: Creating Your Breakthrough Year
30:51

In this episode we will be discussing how to make 2018 your breakthrough year both in your business and in your life. We will talk about goal setting from the mindset of someone that is making to look a bigger impact with their network marketing business in 2018 and beyond.

When I talk about creating a breakthrough year, I’m not necessarily talking about an increase in growth or revenue. I define breakthrough as creating, accomplishing, or experiencing what you

previously thought was not possible for yourself.

When we begin to recognize the different variations of breakthroughs, THAT is when we start moving forward in the right direction. Your breakthrough is not limited to business and financial growth; your breakthrough can be you becoming an exponentially better person.

Once you have a better idea on what a breakthrough really is, you can start thinking about mindset and how that affects our goals.

One of the biggest reasons we don’t achieve our goals, is we don’t BELIEVE that we can.

There are two different mindsets you can use to approach your goals: scarcity and abundance. Scarcity thinkers approach obstacles as roadblocks.  Abundance thinkers approach obstacles from the mindset of ‘finding another solution’.

These four questions will help you set goals for yourself in a way that you have never done before:

  1. What did I do, create, experience, or accomplish in 2018 in order to declare this a breakthrough year?
  2. Having accomplished all of this, what did I do differently in 2018?
  3. What did I have to let go of?
  4. Who was I BEING that created this?

It’s not only going to help you set goals, but it’s really going to help you understand the person that you need to become and the things you need to let go of in order to accomplish those goals.

There are two types of goals: income and impact. Yes, income will make you happy. However that happiness is temporary. Impact goals allow you to tap into fulfillment.

Hopefully you get a ton of value out of the training, feel free to share the episode with anyone that you think it could help!

71: Instagram Marketing Strategies
01:03:55

In this week’s episode, I sat down with Jenelle Summers to discuss how to leverage specific Instagram strategies to grow your network marketing business. Jenelle, a natural introvert, has built a following over 100,000 people on Instagram. She originally started off on the traditional path: going to college to get a business degree followed by a 9-5 corporate job. After 13 years, she transitioned and found success in her Network Marketing business. She now focuses on serving others through her business.

Instagram has become a vital part of marketing practices around the world. Whether you already use Instagram daily or have never even heard of it, you should be using it for your business.

Although Facebook has its place in marketing, Instagram offers different advantages that will allow you to be more discoverable to people. However it’s essential for you to have a strategy in place to fully utilize these features. This strategy will include using hashtags correctly, taking advantage of the Explore section, and using Instagram stories.

This episode is great for anyone looking for ways to increase their reach on Instagram and take action by integrating it into their marketing plan. Jenelle has some great tips, tricks, and advice that she shares throughout the interview!

70: Should you be using a Facebook Personal Profile or Business Page?
40:29

In this episode we will be talking about whether you should be using a Facebook Personal Profile  or a Business Page for your network marketing business.  This is a hot topic right now in our profession, and I know there are many differing opinions on what you should be doing.

One of the reasons this is such a hot topic is because Facebook is starting to crack down on people that are overly promotional and using their profile to sell.  As a result, a lot of network marketers are afraid to use their personal profile.  So, does that mean you should completely shift your focus to a Business Page for your business?

Here’s my answer: absolutely not.

However, you do need to be smarter about your approach. The number one goal for Facebook is to improve the user experience. When Network Marketers are spammy with their approach and cold pitch hundreds of people from their personal profile, they get in the way of that goal.

Here’s the key to successful marketing on Facebook and what will keep you out of trouble:  DON’T BE AN INFOMERCIAL. What does that mean?  It means you need to learn to create content on Facebook that isn’t just about you selling all the time, and actually adds value to other people.  The three things I always teach people to do with their content are; educate, entertain, and empower.

The majority of your content that you create should have nothing to do with your specific network marketing company.  Most of your “selling” and “recruiting” is going to happen behind the scenes through private conversations.  This is what is often referred to today as ‘curiosity marketing’.  It’s understanding that if you can add value to others with your content, you’ll build a bigger audience and that will lead to more sales and recruits.

I didn’t create this episode to instill fear of getting your profile shut down - but I want you to to be educated. I want you to understand that we have a responsibility as a profession to be better about the way we use Facebook.  If you are educated and smarter about your approach, you will not only be safe longterm, but you will be leveraging social media to help you create real results.

69: Purpose Driven Prospecting
38:35

In this episode we will be talking about purpose driven prospecting. Many people in network marketing initially struggle with fear and a lack of confidence, which makes it difficult to create deep and meaningful connections with prospects.

Here's what makes Purpose Driven Prospecting different... it's sharing WHY you do what you do, before you share WHAT you do, or HOW it's different.  Most people in network marketing do the exact opposite.  When you learn how to lead with WHY, it becomes a total game changer for your results.

Purpose Driven Prospecting will help you start getting the attention of people in a totally different way, help you start making much deeper and more meaningful connections with people, and create loyal life-long clients and business partners for you. It is based on you being clearly able to communicate and lead with your WHY when speaking to a prospect.

When you learn to present your products and opportunity this way, people will start looking at what you do in a totally different way.

Humans aren’t logical beings - we’re emotional beings. We don’t make decisions based off of facts and figures, we make decisions emotionally. Once you learn how to put words to your WHY, you’ll be speaking directly to the emotional decision making part of your prospect’s brain.

Everyone of you has a WHY - some sort of deep-seated purpose, a cause or belief that is the source of your passion and inspiration. You may not know it yet, or know how to put it into words, but it’s there.

Very few people can clearly articulate WHY they do what they do, and you need to start looking at your business as simply a vehicle that allows you to live out your purpose or WHY.

68: Should You Be Using LinkedIn for Your Network Marketing Business?
37:30

In this episode we will be talking about the role of LinkedIn in your network marketing business. Whether you have never tried using LinkedIn for network marketing or you are looking to increase your LinkedIn prospecting skills, this episode will help guide you to optimize your results.

People are on LinkedIn to network and find business opportunities. If you are looking to reach higher quality recruits, LinkedIn is the perfect place to be prospecting. In order to optimize results, it’s important to be strategic.

One of the biggest mistakes I see with prospecting on LinkedIn is people setting up their profiles in a way that raises resistance with prospects. You need to assume that people already have a negative perception of network marketing, so you need to sell yourself and demonstrate value. People don’t want to join companies, they want to join other people.

LinkedIn has so many incredible features that we can utilize to help us find our target market with just a few clicks. You can do advanced searches for people based on industry, area, company, position, and more. This will help you find connections and common ground with people to start a conversation with them.

In your initial message, don’t “pitch them” or send a link to whatever you have. Start a conversation and reference WHY you connected with them. I cannot stress enough how important is is to lead with the opportunity and NOT the product.

After you start messaging with someone, get them off of LinkedIn and on the phone. The goal when prospecting on any social media platform is to get them off of social media ASAP. It may be uncomfortable for some people, but it is necessary if you want to make real connections.

67: The 4 Mental Enemies Of Success
36:41

In this episode I’ll be mixing things up a little bit. I am sharing a recording of a training that I created way back when I first started working on Your Virtual Upline called the Four Mental Enemies of Success.

Understanding the philosophies of this business is critical for your success. Unless you change your mindset, there is no amount of “how to’s” that are going to offer a real solution for you.

Let’s face it: there are SO many obstacles in this business. However, dealing with these obstacles and roadblocks becomes so much easier once you have an awareness of the Four Mental Enemies of Success. Every leader in this industry deals with these enemies every single day, and you’re going to need to learn to include them as an eventual part of your success.

The first enemy is rejection. More people are going to tell you no than yes. We have expectations on what we think people are going to do and say, and that’s when we run into problems.

The second is deception. People are going to lie INCLUDING your friends and family. People will say they’re interested and ready to commit, but not everyone is ready to take the plunge and change their life. What you need to focus on is moving forward.

The third is apathy. This business starts as a numbers game and evolves into a people business where you develop relationships. It’s easy to sit back and come up with excuses for yourself, but you need to delve into what is difficult and push yourself to be the absolute best.

The fourth is attrition. Don’t expect to continuously hit grand slams, but focus on stringing together a bunch of singles.

Once you push through these enemies, your business will see the results. Success will prove to be a matter of just hanging on long after others have let go.

66: Lessons on Business and Life from my Newborn Son
21:27

In this episode we’re going to talk about possibilities and how to make sure your life is going in direction that you desire. Entrepreneurial people, especially in the network marketing industry, can frequently lose direction and find themselves feeling helpless and hopeless.

With the recent arrival of Baby Greyson, I’ve been thinking and reflecting a lot more about the miracle of life. Many people spend their entire lives hoping to hit the lottery; what they don’t realize is that they’ve already won the biggest lottery of their life by just being here.

Yet, as wonderful as this is, many of us still struggle. We struggle to find our way and ourselves, and we feel totally stuck. I look at my newborn son in my arms and my greatest wish for him is that he never fall victim to this mentality. That he never trades his hopes and dreams for compromises or settles for what other people tell him he “should” be doing.

You can literally accomplish anything you want in life. If you’re willing to believe it’s possible and work long and hard for it, you can and WILL make it happen.

It’s never too late to start living the life that you deserve. Most people allow their lives to simply happen to them: they float along, wait, and react. That’s no way to live your life. You were born for a purpose; the potential for fulfilling your purpose is already inside you. You just have to take the time to discover your own unique purpose.

I promise you it won’t be easy, but I also promise you that it WILL be worth it.

65: Are You an Accidental Leader?
28:48

In this episode we’re going to be talking about leadership; more specifically, accidental and intentional leadership. Whether you have a team of 1 of 1,000 you have a responsibility to lead. One of the biggest problems I see in network marketing is people falling into the role of an accidental leader. If you lack the necessary leadership skills and ability, your team will never continue to grow.

If you want to see your team grow and be successful, you need to start making the shift from being an “Accidental Leader” to practicing “Intentional Leadership”.

Intentional leadership is a very clearly defined, structured process that facilitates your own growth as a leader, as well as help you identify and develop other leaders on your team. Itʼs a hands on process and at times can feel like a lot of work, but itʼs whatʼs necessary for you to develop other strong leaders on your team.

To start providing them clear direction on what they should be doing, and helping them understand what it really means to be a leader. People need clear direction and support to thrive and grow. And if you donʼt provide that for them, theyʼll go find it somewhere else.

There are three main areas of focus for intentional leadership that we are discussing today: how to lead yourself, identifying the right people to work with on your team, and how to develop these people into independent leaders.

Start leading yourself better, find the right people to work with, and be INTENTIONAL about the way you lead them.

64: The Journey from Success to Significance
29:22

In this episode we’re going to talk about how to make the shift from success to significance in your network marketing business. When most people start their network marketing business, their initial goal is freedom: financial freedom, lifestyle freedom and time freedom. But if you never grow past that and evolve into something more, you will probably find that this will not be enough to fulfill you. Freedom is not enough.

Everyone has a WHY: a deep-seated purpose, cause or belief that can be a tremendous source of your passion and inspiration. Even if you don’t know what it is or how to express it in words, you have one.

Happiness comes from WHAT we do, fulfillment comes from WHY we do it. We don’t necessarily find happiness in our jobs every day, but we can still feel fulfilled by our work if it makes us feel part of something bigger than ourselves.

There are two ways to prospect. One, you can aimlessly shoot for everyone, hoping that you’ll find something that fits with someone to get them to say yes.

Two, you can prospect with purpose and intention - being clear in your communication and going straight for people that fit your same vision.  When you use the Purpose Drive Prospecting and share your WHY first in a conversation or presentation, you speak directly to your prospects limbic, decision making center of their brain.

We have to stop focusing on money and material things as our end goal in the network marketing business.  We need to shift our focus towards aligning our minds with our hearts, so that we may be the change that we seek in the world.

63: How to Overcome Your Fear of Self-Promotion on Social Media
33:10

In this episode we’re going to talk about how to overcome your fear of self-promotion on social media.  Almost anyone in network marketing can tell you that putting yourself out there is a vital aspect of the business, but most people struggle with this because they have fear of self-promotion.

This fear can come from different places, but we all deal with it.  You might ask yourself:  “What makes me credible to teach others and share my advice?”   Your degree, background, rank, or commission check have nothing to do with it.  There are 3 primary things that will make you credible to teach others:  The CONNECTION you have with people, the VALUE that you provide, and your CONSISTENCY.

Understand that no one else can teach a topic the way that you do: how you think about it, explain it, your life stories and research.  Don’t water yourself down thinking that someone else wonʼt be able to take the “real you.”  Itʼs your willingness to be authentic and unapologetically yourself that will make you stand out.

Thereʼs 2 primary motivating forces in life: love and fear.  When youʼre living in fear, you pull back from life, afraid to take action and put yourself out there.  When youʼre operating from love, everything is different.  You are open to all the life has to offer with passion, excitement and enthusiasm.

For many of you the issue isnʼt just a fear of failure or of being judged - itʼs actually a fear of success.  Deep down you donʼt feel worthy of success and it scares you to death.  You just have to have the courage to put yourself out there and get started.

62: The Pain of Waking Up vs. Staying Asleep
31:53

This week I’m announcing a big change-up in the podcast. A majority of the previous episodes and trainings have been applicable to all different types of entrepreneurs. Now, I’m shifting the focus towards solely the Network Marketing profession. There will be TWO brand new episodes filled with original content EVERY week. These episodes will focus specifically on how to help you with your network marketing business.

In this episode we’re going to talk about the pain of waking up vs. the pain of staying asleep. Many people think that avoiding pain will benefit them in their business, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth.

Once you commit to a path and take action, things start to change. And when the Universe knows you’re serious, it starts to move right into action with you. This, however, doesn't mean that there won’t be pain that will move you out of your comfort zone. Regardless of what we do in life, we will face one of two pains: The Pain of Waking Up or The Pain of Staying Asleep.

When we stay ASLEEP we choose to not examine our lives. There is a quiet longing for something more for ourselves. However, if we make the decision to WAKE UP, we must face an entirely different type of pain. We must face the pain of the growth process and the truth about what we need to do to become better. It is the pain of feeling exposed. If we can accept and embrace these short term pains as good things, that pain turns into long-term joy.

It’s the harder and rarer path to follow because none of us consciously wants to choose pain, but we MUST feel that pain if we are to awaken.

Hopefully you get a ton of value out of the training, feel free to share the episode with anyone that you think it could help!  For more great free training like this, make sure you go to www.BobHeilig.com.

61: Social Media Prospecting Do's and Don'ts
25:22

In this episode, we discuss prospecting on social media. Many network marketers struggle with this task and end up spending hours of time and effort with no results.

The number one mistake I see network marketers make while prospecting on social media is
putting a business offer into their initial message to a prospect before they even know if they are open to it. It gets even worse when a link is included in that initial message. If you are doing that, you need to stop immediately.

So how do we approach prospecting? The copy and paste strategy may have worked years ago, but in today’s world you HAVE to make it conversational. Think of it as having a conversation with someone. In your initial message, only say what you would feel comfortable saying to someone face to face.

Whether you’re a skilled network marketer or you’re just starting out, this episode will benefit your approach to prospecting on social media. People are extremely wary of the internet, which means connecting with people on a personal level is more important than ever. Make those connections first and foremost BEFORE making your offer.

You can find at http://bobheilig.com/SocialMediaScripts a free PDF script guide that will be used and referenced throughout the episode. 60: How to Develop the Mindset of a Top Earner
29:42

In today’s episode, we are talking about mindset. In a previous episode (Episode 24) I’ve covered the same topic, but in this training I go even deeper into the analogy.  I share with you how my own experience of training for and running my first marathon, provides such a powerful analogy for success in business.  I got such a tremendous response from this training, I had to share it here on the podcast.

We could literally talk hours on the topic of mindset, but here’s a sample of what you’ll learn in this episode:

  • The importance of enthusiasm. Enthusiasm is the first source of “fuel” for running the marathon to success in your business.  The problem though, if that’s all you have, you’re in trouble.  If your business is driven by your emotions, you’ll likely not get very far.
  • Next up is commitment.  Commitment is the second fuel source that helps you along the road to success.  It’s a sign of emotional maturity.  The ability for you to “pull rank” over your emotions, and work your business even when you don’t “feel like it” is absolutely necessary.
  • Finally there’s conviction.  Conviction is the one common quality of all people with staying power in the network marketing profession.  It’s absolute belief and faith that your business WILL work, if you WORK your business.

I think you will get a ton of value and really enjoy this episode.  I share some personal stories about my training and running the marathon that you should find both funny and inspirational.  Make sure you take some time to leave a review here in iTunes so you can be selected for this weeks winner!

59: Forget About Your Personal Brand - Just BE YOURSELF!
17:13

Today, my topic is about building a business around your own personal brand. One of the questions that I get the most from people is, "What should I include as a part of my personal brand?" People struggle so much trying to figure out what their personal brand should look like, and the things that they should include.

If that's you, here's the message that I'd like to deliver to you in this episode... stop worrying so much about your personal brand, and just start being yourself! Your personal brand is really nothing more than you starting to share all of the things that make you, 'you' with other people so that you can begin to make connections and build relationships with your audience.

If there is something that you're passionate about, and that matters to you, start sharing that with the world through your content.  If something is important to you, it will be important to someone else.  The more we start to share of ourselves, the more opportunities we create to have commonality with other people.  The more those people begin to see themselves in us, the stronger connection we make with them.

Make sure you are focusing on three areas: educate, entertain, and empower. If you do these three things, and always lead with trying to add value to others, you'll have tremendous success in this area. Even if something has nothing to do with your primary business, it's still helping you get attention and build relationships with your audience.

Over time, you'll learn how to refine your content and the things that you share to a more targeted audience. That's not something that you figure out before you start however. It's taken me over a year to get a good sense of who my "target audience" was, and the things that I'd be teaching them. In the beginning, I just focused on "being myself" and trying to deliver as much value as humanly possible to the people watching my videos.

Hopefully you find the information in this episode empowering, and hopefully it takes off some of the pressure that you've been putting on yourself. Take action, be yourself, and give this time to "take shape" and you'll be totally fine!

Don't forget to take a minute to leave a review for the podcast so you can be entered in the drawing for next week! Each week I pick someone who left a review and give away one of my training courses to help you with your business. Thanks to all of you that have taken some time to leave your reviews, I really appreciate you!

58: The 3 Golden Rules for Prospecting on Social Media
26:21

Welcome to the 58th episode of your virtual upline podcast. I am Bob Heilig and my topic for today is prospecting on social media. Social media advertising especially facebook marketing is the best and the worst thing that has happened to social media ever. If you use it in a proper way, it is the best thing and can give many benefits to you and the product that is being marketed. Besides discussing the topic, I will also announce the winner of this week.

Prospecting on social media is a big thing and most of the people fail in pulling off social media marketing. I will share three basic reasons why prospecting fails on the base of my personal likes and dislikes. There are three basic things that serve as the main reason of success or failure of a prospect.

When people start prospecting on social media, they follow the attitude of give nothing and take everything. People who believe this never get successful. This might seems like a profitable extension for some time, but not more. In the long run, people mostly fail to provide the expected results and get benefits from the prospect. This is one of the most important points to improve prospecting on social media.

When you are prospecting, the main thing is to make a social contact and to create a sense of friendly relationship before bombarding your group of products and services to them. Developing a social contact with people is equivalent to depositing money in your bank account. Developing a social and emotional contact with your clients connects you to them and makes a good relation with them.

The second important thing to keep in mind while prospecting is the initial messages you send to your clients. In the initial messages, the biggest mistake that people do is that they attach links of the products and services they are offering.  Attaching the links in the initial messages disconnects the client from the message and thus is one of the biggest causes of failure in prospecting.

The third main reason of the failure is that people rely on social media more than necessary. Take people offline to real life and connect with them physically. This is the real reason behind success of prospecting. Meet people on real life and don’t rely on social media too much. Connect with them online and take them offline.

Improvising on these three things can be your reason behind success in prospecting people. Visit my podcast and connect with me for further info. Share and keep connected to Your Virtual Upline podcast.

57: How to Create Know, LOVE, and Trust with Your Audience
48:48

This episode is about the training I did about the marketing boot camp that held in February this year. My training was about using live video and generating confidence and build powerful connection with the viewers, listeners and the audience through the live video. I refer to this connection as no love and trust. In marketing and sales, there is a common belief that people buy from marketers whom they don’t know. There is no place of love, trust and friendship in a business. However, in the modern entrepreneurship and business strategies, this is no more the case. The new investors, business persons and entrepreneurs base their business on love and customer trust and gain profits on the base of popularity among the general public by making good customer relations and a bonding based on trust and friendship. The key to success in modern day is conversion. To convert your ideas and products in dollars to earn profit is the real success in the modern day branding and marketing. Being one of the newest techniques for branding your product or services, live video is the key element to add in your business strategy and branding.

I started 15 years ago as a marketer, and personally faced a lot of troubled and difficulties in my service regarding my job. A couple of companies I was working with got shut and I was completely broke. It was 2015 when I decided to start live streaming in order to attract new people to the company I was working with. Despite of being scared of public speaking, I mustered up my courage and started live streaming. It wasn’t easy for me to attract people by making a live video and doing live streaming but sometimes, you have to step out of your comfort zone and do something different, think out of the box. Today, I am successful and I train people all across the world because of my crazy decision. Don’t settle for what you’ve already mastered, and aim for something new every day.

I shared my story as an inspiration for you. I didn’t get successful with ease. I worked hard and adopted a way that changed my perspective of marketing and made me what I am today. Marketing is not about selling goods and service you are offering, marketing is about selling yourself and making good customer relations based on their trust and love for you and your company.

Live video is one of the greatest inventions in the history of marketing and branding. Live video is all about being close to people and making good relations with people. The only success in getting started with live streaming is to be real. People gets attract to what they see and when you are doing live video, make sure to be yourself and attract people through your attitude and behavior towards them.

Live streaming is a very powerful tool if you can use it wisely and can create something out of box. Think differently, be yourself and connect with people.

56: Your Network Determines Your NetWORTH
13:10

In this episode we discuss the power of investing into your network, and the relationships that you have in your life, and how that over time can dramatically help your business.

One of the biggest reasons why new entrepreneurs struggle early on in their business is because they don't get a ton of support from their close friends and family.  The harsh reality many times when this happens, is that they are paying the price of the life that they lived prior to making the decision to start their business.

You have to view every person in your life as you having a "relational account" with them.  Whenever you do something nice, show them genuine care and concern, and are generous with your time and attention, you make a deposit.  If you are constantly doing this in your life, you build up your account with people.

When you first join your business and begin to approach people asking them to "help and support your new business" by trying your products or potentially join you, you're looking to make a withdrawal.  If you haven't been diligent in making the deposits, the account is going to be empty.

This is a critical insight for any entrepreneur to understand.  You need to be constantly focusing on investing your time and energy into your network, building up these accounts and understanding the long-term benefit this has to your business.

The good news is that no matter how bad you may have been, you can begin to tip the scales back in your favor by simply beginning to do the things that we discuss in today's episode.

55: Four Ways to Stay Committed in Your Business
18:02

Today I want to talk to you about commitment and share with you four key strategies to help you stay committed to performing the right actions in your business to create massive results.

Being that last weekend was the Breakthrough Academy Live event, I want to talk about commitment because it’s an appropriate topic. Many attend an event or training and you have this new motivation and enthusiasm for your business. Then you get back and Monday comes around, then Tuesday, and it’s harder to get out of bed, and then Wednesday and Thursday and before you know if you have not changed at all!

Commitment is very simply doing the thing you said you would do long after the mood you said it in has left you. It is easy to be committed when you’re in a peak state. But when you are not in that environment anymore it is much harder. Many people are committed until it doesn’t fit in their schedule or its too tough. You must be taking action every single day as these actions will really tell you who you are committed to.

The four keys to commitment:

  1. Mindset – You must learn to discipline your mind to stay with the commitment. You must learn to overcome the obstacles that are going to come your way. It is a necessary part of success to deal with negativity, rejection, and failure. You must learn to recognize your own greatness and stop being someone your note! You need to remove the fearful thinking that is surrounding yourself. Self-doubt will kill your commitment. Mindset is everything!
  2. Refine Your Goals – You can’t hit a target if you don’t know what the target is. You must make clear and specific goals and know exactly what it is and exactly what you need to do to get there. Some of you have no idea what you need to do to get to the next level. Get very specific!
  3. Change Your Focus – What we focus on is what we feel. Be grateful for the team you have and the results you’ve created but focus on the future. Forget about the past and focus on where you want to go! Do not wait to feel motivated. The problem is some of you don’t feel motivated and you wait to act. Motivation is very simple. Motivation comes through disciplined action. Sometimes you must force yourself to do it even when you don’t feel like it. Champions commit to disciplined actions every single day and they pay very little attention to how they feel.
  4. Accountability – I highly recommend you find someone that can hold you accountable to the disciplined actions that you need to take. Every single week you need to monitor how close you are to your goals and be rooted in the reality of your business at every single moment. With all this, make sure you celebrate the small wins.

I really want to challenge you to stay committed to your goals and don’t fall into the trap of having that moment of inspiration to have a bigger and better life and then having that fade away! Follow these four keys principles and stay committed to your business!

54: How to Use the New Facebook Stories Feature to Build Your Business
24:47

Today I want to talk to you about Facebook Stories! This exciting new feature just launched on Facebook and I want to share how you can use this incredibly powerful tool to get more attention on social media. This tool is also an incredibly powerful feature from a prospecting and recruiting standpoint to generate more engagement from your audience.

So, you may be asking what is Facebook stories? It is a series of small videos and pictures that you can take throughout your day to essentially tell the story of your day. It allows you to show a more personal side of yourself and bring people into your world and get to know you. Right now, it is not available for everyone but it is being rolled out over the next week.

The main difference between Instagram stories and Facebook stories is the filters. With Facebook stories, you can add the filters before you ever take a picture or video. One of the things about stories is it allows you to show your personality and the videos can even be up to 20 seconds long as opposed to the shorter versions on Instagram and Snapchat. Like with anything new, the key to success is consistency. If you can stay consistent and give yourself time to get better and rise to the top you will win on this platform.

The best way to create content is to stop thinking and start documenting! Just be yourself and start documenting your life. The beauty of the story functionality is allowing you to become the star of your own reality TV show! This allows you to begin building a personal brand. Through stories you can show anything and everything that is important and that matters to you. Familiarity breeds trust and if you are constantly in front of peoples face you become trustworthy.

One example of something you can do is to start documenting your journey as an entrepreneur. Talk about the things you are learning. Share your successes and also your failures.

You may be asking how does this help me sell more and recruit more people? This happens because everything you share with someone becomes a point of commonality with that person. The more you share of yourself and the more points you can create, the more conversations you can start. This is where the sales and network growth begin!

Actionable method to getting started on Facebook Stories:

  1. Focus on a mix of content by both being funny and adding value to your viewers
  2. Give yourself permission to be you and stand out
  3. Use Facebook Stories to drive traffic to other channels such as Facebook Live, etc.

53: Embrace Your Inner Weirdo
12:37

In this episode, we have a little bit of fun while we discuss embracing your inner weirdo! What I mean by this is that we need to acknowledge that as entrepreneurs we are not normal.

It is not normal for someone to subject themselves to what we must put up with every single day to build a successful business. It’s not normal for someone to spend hours listening to a podcast or attending a training seminar but I want you to acknowledge that this is a really good thing because here’s what I know about normal people. They are not happy and they are not satisfied. They work just hard enough so they don’t get fired and their boss pays them just enough so they won’t quit. They live just for the weekend and depression sets in on Sunday night as they must face their job or career that they hate. This is no life for you and me!

We are weirdos and we need to embrace that!

Steps to embracing your inner weirdo

  1. Acknowledge that entrepreneurship is a lonely place when starting out
  2. Acknowledge that you are not normal
  3. Start celebrating being different
  4. Look for other weirdos
  5. Forget all the normal people’s opinions

My message to you is simple and it’s that being an entrepreneur makes you weird and you need to start embracing this because you are not normal and this is one of the most amazing qualities of entrepreneurs.

You’re a weirdo! Start celebrating it, looking for other weirdos, and forget all those normal people!

52: Change Your Focus, Change Your Life
16:12

Today we talk about changing your focus and changing your life!  At any moment of our life, we can begin to choose to think differently and empower ourselves. Unfortunately, part of the human condition is to focus on the negative and create pessimistic thoughts within our mind. It is often times these thoughts that create the condition bias that leads to our eventual results in life.  Today I want to empower you with strategies to be aware of the cause of this negativity and to consciously make a decision to change your focus.

Some important questions to think about:

  1. Do you generally spend your time focusing on things that you have or things that you don’t have?
  2. Do you focus on what good qualities you exemplify or how you are not good enough by comparing yourself to others?
  3. Are you focused on the past or are you focused on the future?

In addition to these reflection questions, I want you to start to notice your own self talk. Many people would never talk to someone else the way they talk to themselves. Now is the time to stop being so negative and focus on the positive!

An important component of your focus is confirmation bias. Confirmation bias is the idea that you only see and hear what you focus on. For example, if you are focusing on how you are not good enough, then you will begin to find examples and reminders of this on a regular basis throughout your life. A powerful alternative is to shift your focus and leverage this confirmation bias in your favor.

Here is an exercise to perform: Make a list of ten things that you can be grateful for and every morning read this list. This will allow you to start your day with gratitude. Gratitude in many ways is the gateway drug to motivation. In addition, you need to celebrate the small wins within your life and business. Big accomplishments are nothing more than a bunch of small wins along the way.

Begin to use these strategies to change your focus and ultimately change your life today!

51: Start Using Your Fear as Your Compass
15:17

Today we talk about fear and the strategies to overcome it. Especially as a new entrepreneurs, there are so many things that we feel resistance towards.  I thought that once I became successful I would become fearless. However, nothing could be further from the truth. No matter how successful you are, fear is always lurking in the shadows and doing things you have never done before will be scary. High achievers realize that it is the things in life that we fear most which create the biggest breakthroughs and opportunities.

I can remember back in my early days as an entrepreneur doing everything I could to avoid fear. Many think that once they become fearless they will become successful. The only way to avoid fear is to never attempt to get out of your comfort zone. When you step out of your comfort zone, uncertainty is created which forces growth! Being an entrepreneur is a personal development program with a compensation plan attached to it. Nothing great has ever been accomplished without uncertainty.

Actions towards fear:

  1. Stop avoiding fear
  2. Start using fear as your compass
  3. Embrace fear and uncertainty and move forward

I want to challenge you. Sit down and take an inventory of the things you are fearing in life right now. I want you to start recognizing fear as a necessary part of being an entrepreneur and commit that over the next 7 – 10 days, you will start taking action and believe that amazing things will start to happen!

50: 3 Strategies to Help You Become a World Class Presenter
22:44

Welcome to episode 50! I definitely didn’t think we would make it this far but I am super grateful to have you here. Today we talk about public speaking. I know a lot of you have a fear of speaking in public but in order to be a great entrepreneur you must learn to be able to be a great communicator. Today I give you my top three tips to help you overcome your fear, become more confident, and become the world class speaker you are destined to become.

Most everyone deals with the fear of public speaking and it is certainly one of my number one fears. I was always the student who never wanted to raise their hand in class and was never confident amongst my peers. I knew that in order to become a successful entrepreneur I had to get over this fear and become more comfortable with communicating.

The first time I gave a public speech was at a hotel early on in my career to about 30 individuals. I remember opening the meeting in pure panic. I actually considered just leaving right on the spot. There was even a cup of water that I was holding and I was so nervous that I was shaking and spilling the water. When that meeting was over I couldn’t run out of that room fast enough.  I then made a commitment to myself that I would never embarrass myself like that ever again.

Three strategies to overcome fear of public speaking:

  1. Record yourself giving a presentation to see, hear, and critique your mannerisms.
  2. Read aloud and practice putting emotion and life into the words
  3. Start modeling other people. Find other speakers whose style resonates with you and study them.

It took years of implementing these three strategies before I actually became pretty good. In the book, The War of Art, it talks about how the things we fear the most, we were actually put on this earth to do. I want you to face your fear and recognize that the fear is an indicator for something you are destined to do. With these three tips you too can become a world class presenter!

49: Overcoming the Fear of Leadership
12:58

In this episode we are talk about the fear of leadership. I hope this episode can give you some insight as to why you may be struggling in this area and how to overcome it!

In my early days, I used to self-sabotage my business and my results. I never quite understood why I did this and now looking back, it is very clear. To be truthful, I actually didn’t believe I had what it took to be a leader. This was a vicious cycle that I was in for years that was extremely frustrating. The thought of having a large organization and being in charge of its direction scared me to death.

To attack this problem, you need to do two things:

  1. Recognize that this fear is real and something that you will have to deal with.
  2. Then, acknowledge the resistance. Many times in our life the things we fear the most are the things we were put on this earth to do. If you are fearing this idea of becoming a leader than you were probably meant to lead!

Stop letting fear control your business and pressing the snooze button on your dreams, goals, and passions. I want to challenge every one of you to stand up and be the leader you are supposed to be!

48: Building a Massive Following on Social Media
14:57

Today we are talking about how to build a massive following on social media. Hopefully by now, many of you are using Facebook and creating videos to build your following. Perhaps you are doing this but you are still struggling. This can be extremely frustrating! Most people get discouraged and quit at this point. However, you must remember that marketing takes time and it is hard work.

In this episode I share the formula for how I built my social media following to where it is today. This took me over six months of creating content every day. Consistent application of this formula will bring the results you are looking for.

Social Media Growth Formula:

Attention + Trust = Growth of your following

Attention has three parts:

  1. Be authentic and abstain from watering down your true self
  2. Be generous with your knowledge, information, and time
  3. Be consistent each and every day

When you leverage these three items you gain attention which is followed by trust and thus your following grows. For you to gain a following you have to have the long game in mind. You must have a willingness to give and stick with it!

I hope this episode give you a ton of value. Remember not to get discouraged and follow the formula!

47: The Traditional Business Owner Mindset to Customer Acquisition
17:59

In this episode we discuss customer acquisition through a traditional business owner’s mindset. I want to share with you a mindset that once adopted, can help you dramatically increase your customer base. Sometimes it is easy to lose focus on customer acquisition when tapping into your own personal network. Today’s episode highlights strategies to increase your effectiveness at reaching out to this network. After realizing these strategies you will be amazed at how much easier it is to acquire customers from within.

Customers are the lifeblood of your company. Without customers there is no money and if you want your business to provide true freedom to you and your family, you need a lot of customers! If you have not made it a priority to acquire a lot of customers, that can start to reflect poorly on the rest of your team. If you can lead by example and grow your customer base then your team will follow your lead.

Two Questions to think about:

  1. When you think about the people in your life, your family and friends, how many are using your products and services?
  2. Of the people not currently your customers, are they already using products or services that are similar to what you offer.

For many of us, the people we know are already using the products and services that we are selling and often times these products are inferior. It is at this point that you must take the mentality of a traditional business owner. If friends and family are using similar products that are inferior is that okay to you? You should expect at the very least they give your products and services a try.

A traditional business owner will:

  1. Draw a line in the sand. Expect their network to support their business.
  2. Share with people why they are in business and why it is important to them.
  3. Make a list of every person that has done a favor for them and ask them to return the favor and try their product or service.
  4. Ask their network to TRY their product or service, COMPARE it to the current version they use, and listen to their FEEDBACK.

Now not everyone is going to like the product or service and that is okay, but in order to be successful and grow your business, it is necessary to have a strong mentality when you approach potential customers. Don’t go so far as to lose friendships and relationships over your business but it is important to let people you know how important your business is to you.

46: The Lesson of the Chinese Bamboo Tree
14:41

In this episode we discuss the powerful lesson learned from the Chinese bamboo tree.

Network marketers especially but in any business, we put so much pressure on days like Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and small business Saturday. Taking advantage of these days is great, but it is not going to make or break your business. It is much more the little things that you do every day that matter most.

The Chinese bamboo tree is a perfect example of this principle. Once planted, this remarkable tree takes four years to break the ground. That is four years of consistent watering and fertilizing with no visual results. Only at this point does the tree begin to show growth when it shoots up to 90 feet into the sky within 6 weeks.

My message today is that you have the patience and engage in consistent actions. Everyone has a bamboo tree. All you have to do is have faith to keep watering and fertilizing daily.

45: Increasing Your Productivity and Results Through Greater Focus
22:17

In this episode we discuss the 80/20 rule of sales and marketing.

This principle simply states that 80 percent of the effects come from 20 percent of the causes.

One of the best books you can read is the 80/20 Rule of Sales and Marketing by Perry Marshal. In this book, Marshal discusses how this principle can essentially apply to anything in life.

It is critical as a leader that when you build a team you don’t get pulled in too many directions. The larger the team, the more difficult it becomes to remain productive and you slip into management mode. Because of this, it is important to focus on the right activities and people that got your business to where it is in the first place

 3 Takeaways from this episode:

  1. 80% of your production will come from 20% of your people
  2. 80% of your results will come from 20% of your activities
  3. 80% of your time should be spent developing the relationships with the best 20% of people

44: People Don't Join Companies, They Join People
14:41

In this episode we discuss the concept:

“People Don’t Join Companies, They Join People”

One of the hardest lessons to learn is that people don’t join companies they join people. If you’re at a point in your business where you are struggling to attract recruits, it may be that your prospects don’t feel as though you have enough value to offer. This can be HARD to hear for some people.

The question everyone must ask is why would someone join me? There are so many opportunities and because of this, you must learn to demonstrate your value as a partner. Once you start demonstrating value things start to turn!

Two actionable takeaways from this episode:

  1. Instead of constantly selling people on how great your company is, start selling people on you. Start to DEMONSTRATE your value to others.
  2. Start PROACTIVLEY reaching out and ENGAGING with people that are in your network and show them you care.

43: The Power of Vision
17:39

In this episode we discuss the power of having a positive vision for your life.  A vision is a clear mental picture of what COULD be in your life, fueled by the conviction that it SHOULD be.

Most people struggle as entrepreneurs because they focus all their time and attention on their current circumstances and their past.  This is the reason why they get "stuck" and never have the motivation or drive to consistently take action towards their goals.

When you can develop a crystal clear vision for where you want your life to be, and focus intently on it every day, it starts to act like a rubber band pulling you towards that desired outcome.  You start making different decisions each day and focus only on the things that will help you advance your life.

Having a vision makes you persistent.  Once you know exactly what you want and can "see it", then no matter what comes against you, you never give up.  In the episode today I share with you how you can start to develop that positive vision for your life and your business.

For many of you, this will be a critical first step to you turning your business around and creating the life that you know that you deserve.

42: Success REQUIRES Struggle
12:07

In this episode we discuss one of the not so well known secrets of success:

"Success REQUIRES struggle."

One of the biggest reasons why most people are not achieving their goals in their life and their business, is they don't understand the relationship between success and failure.  The only way you can become massively successful in your life, is you have to also become a massive failure.

Sounds kind of counter-intuitive, right?  Here's what successful people know, that most failures do not - the positive you get in your life is actually the BY PRODUCT of the negative.  You will be successful to the degree that you are willing and able to put up with all the bad, negative "stuff" that you encounter.

Any goal you have in your life is a 2-sided coin.  On one side is what you want, and on the other side - in DIRECT PROPORTION, is what you don't want to do to achieve that goal.  Those two things will always be in balance.

In the episode I mention one of my favorite books of all time, Go For No by Richard Fenton.  I highly recommend reading it, if you haven't already.  This recording is from a Facebook Live training that I did over on my Your Virtual Upline Fan Page earlier this week.  I already have almost 40,000 views and over 700 shares since it was broadcasted.

41: The 80/20 Rule for Developing the Leaders on Your Team
26:55

In this episode we discuss the 80/20 Rule for working with and developing the leaders on your team.  The 80/20 Rule says that regardless of how large your team is, you should never PERSONALLY be spending time with more that 20% of the people.  This is a recording from my "signature course" for network marketers, the Breakthrough Academy.

One of the biggest mistakes I see leaders make, is they spend all their time working with the wrong people.  They spend time working with the people on their team that NEED, but don't DESERVE their time.  I like to call these the "squeaky wheels", these are the people that don't ever produce but are constantly demanding your time and all they want to do is complain.

What you need to learn to do is identify and focus on the top 20% of your team, and start spending your time there.  These are the people on your team that don't NEED, but they do DESERVE your personal time.  One of the most important things I ever did for my business, was starting to spend more concentrated time helping this group of people.

In the training you will learn how to identify who the 20%'ers on your team, and I explain a detailed process of beginning to work more closely with them.  If you can start following this rule and implementing what you learn in this training, I promise you that you won't believe the difference this will make for your business.

If you are interested in learning more about the Breakthrough Academy you can visit the following link to see all that is included in the online course:  www.BobHeilig.com/BreakthroughAcademy

I HIGHLY recommend this course for anyone looking to take their businesses to the next level.  Whether you are brand new, or already an established leader, there is information in the course that can help you create results far beyond anything you've ever experienced.  Thanks for joining me today, hope you got some value out of the training!

40: Sales and Marketing Strategies for New Product Launches
58:34

In this episode I share with you sales and marketing strategies for new product launches.  One of the questions I get asked a lot is, "My company just announced a new product...how should I go about marketing it to my network?"

In this training, I share with you my top tips and strategies for dealing with new product launches in your company.  When done correctly,  new product launches can be an incredibly powerful way to generate momentum in your business.

The sad reality is however, that most people go about new product launches completely the WRONG way.  They immediately go to their social media and start posting every day all the information about the new product, and how excited they are to share it with everyone.

They start "spamming" their contact list, thinking that people will just jump all over the new offer just because they put it out there.  This is NOT the way you want to approach a new product launch.  You have to view the information that you have about this new product, etc. as a very valuable commodity.  The information that you have about that new product is a reason for you to reach back out to prospects and re-engage with them.  When you just freely put the information out there at every opportunity, you lose all of the power.  In my opinion, it actually de-values the information.

In the training I share with you my top 3 ways to approach prospects with this new information, and I share some of my best scripts for you to use.  This episode is a longer than usual, but I promise you it is an hour of some of the best training you'll ever get in the area of new product launches.

39: My Interview with Ray Higdon
32:03

In this episode I share with you an interview that I did with Ray Higdon for one of his "Top Earner Success Spotlights".  Each month Ray highlights a new success story for his blog, podcast, and a monthly newsletter he sends out to his readers.

I was fortunate enough to be selected by Ray, and this is the interview that we did together.  It was such an honor and cool experience to be featured by Ray, and I know that all of you will get a ton of value out of listening to the recording.

In the interview I talk about my personal story the last year, going from dead broke basically to building a million dollar online business.  I share with you why marketing is such an important skill for any entrepreneur to learn, and how it can help you start to work smarter in your business.

I share with you the importance of using social media the RIGHT way in your business, and I share with you how creating videos on line literally changed my life.  One of my favorite parts of the interview is towards the end where I start to talk about fear, and what holds most people back from achieving their greatness.

Thanks again to Ray for this amazing opportunity.  I hope you all enjoy!

38: The Importance of Accountability and Recognition when Growing a Team
22:33

In this episode I share with you two of the most important things you need to implement if you want to grow a large, successful team.  Whether you're a network marketer or traditional business owner, if you're building a sales organization of any size, this training will be critical for you.

When you analyze any successful organization of any kind, there are usually two things that are cornerstones of their culture.  First, the members of that team usually have a high level of personal accountability for their production and job responsibilities.  Second, there is a high level of recognition when it comes to those performing the best in the group.

As a leader, one of the biggest mistakes I made in my early days, was I didn't understand my responsibility to implement these things in my team.  I just expected that the people on my team should automatically "get it", and it frustrated me when they wouldn't do the things they were supposed to be doing.

In my training today, I share with you how to implement these two things in your team, so you can instantly start seeing better results.  Start doing some of the things I share with you in this episode and you'll be amazed at how differently your people start to respond.

37: The Takeaway Method for Following-Up
17:35

In this episode I discuss with you one of my all-time favorite methods of following-up with unresponsive prospects, "The Takeaway Method".  We've all had these types of prospects before, the ones who keep saying, "they're interested" but never make a decision.  This also works incredibly well with prospects that have stopped responding to you after initially expressing interest.

Anyone looking to become more effective at following-up with, or closing prospects into your business NEEDS to listen to this episode.  One of the things that I talk about a lot in this training, is the importance of posture and attitude when it comes to the exposure process.

If your prospect feels like you "need them", then they're not going to be as interested in what you're offering them.  A lot of times people keep pushing or come across as too "needy", and that's why they struggle.  If you learn to use this method of following-up, you're going to start to start to see prospects respond to you in a much more favorable way.

When someone knows you don't "need them", it's amazing how much more it makes the right people "want it".  Hope you enjoy this episode!  I know you will!!

36: My Interview with Chalene Johnson
01:03:35

In this episode I share with you an interview I did with New York Times best selling author and branding and online business expert Chalene Johnson.  Chalene asked me to share my story and some training on how I've build my online business for her "Build Your Tribe" and "Chalene Show" podcasts.

My interview was featured on both of her podcasts, I thought I would share with you all here incase you missed it.  This was an amazing opportunity for me, in that Chalene's podcasts have over 10 million total downloads.  Here Facebook Fan Page has almost 1 million likes, so needless to say it was a pretty big deal that she asked to interview me.

In the interview I share 5 tips to help you start to build your personal brand and how you can become an authority online.  I give you my top strategies if you are in network marketing and looking to leverage the power of social media to grow your business.  The highlight of the interview however, is when Chalene gets me to beat box and rap with her on live video.  Only Chalene could actually get me to do that!

Hope you enjoy the interview as much as I did.  For more information on how you can become an authority online and build and grow your own personal brand check out the details of a 3 day live training event I have coming up in just a few weeks!

35: Run the 4 Minute Mile for Your Team
17:20

Episode 35: Run the 4 Minute Mile for Your Team

This is session is for the leaders out there who are in network marketing or anyone else leading any type of a team.

Ask yourself these questions:

  1. Are you frustrated because the people on your team are not showing up or not putting in the work?
  2. Are your people not advancing or do they seem to have hit a ceiling?
  3. Do you feel that you want it more than they do?
  4. Why won't your people follow what you're saying?

Since we are not in the corporate world, it's important to realize that in network marketing, we are building a volunteer army.  The problem is we have to figure out how to motivate and inspire our team.  How do we do that?  By leading them by example.

All of us start off our businesses in phase 1, which is recruiting, meeting people and going out there every day to build our business.  But then we start feeling the need to train the people we have and fall into what is called "management mode".  We concentrate on teaching our team how to do things, in turn being dependent on them for growth.  So, what will you do when they aren't progressing?  How do you get them back on track?

The highest responsibility of a leader is to lead by example and to demonstrate the correct behaviors to our team.  Stop and ponder on these important points:

  1. Are YOU part of the reason why you team isn't succeeding?
  2. Do you lack personal accomplishments in your business?
  3. When was the last time that YOU rank advanced in your company?
  4. Are you showing them that's it's possible to hit your goals?
  5. When you are in "management mode" and not doing Phase 1 activities, how is that affecting your business?

If you have stopped rank advancing, then consider that your people may be struggling with if it's even possible for them.  Sometimes we need to get a little selfish, get out of management mode, start showing everyone it's possible to getting back to Phase 1.

A good example of this is the story of Roger Bannister.  He was the first person to ever run a 4 minute mile.  Before him, people thought it was humanly impossible to complete this goal.  Once Roger Bannister accomplished it, within a year hundreds of others also accomplished this once thought impossible feat.

What changed?  It took one person to show the entire world that it was POSSIBLE.  I challenge you to run the 4 minute mile for your team.  Show the leaders on your team that it's possible to rank advance and achieve your goals.  This will encourage them to stretch and achieve their goals.

Make a decision today to hit that next rank, to get your next promotion.  Get uncomfortable, get out of management mode, and back to Phase 1 activity.  Show your team that it's possible to do what they may now think is impossible.

34: My Top 5 Ways to use Facebook Live to Grow Your Business
21:39

In this episode we discuss the power of live streaming video when it comes to growing your business and personal brand.  If you haven't already started to leverage the power of this incredible tool, you are really missing out.  In my opinion, the future of social media will be live streaming video.

There has never been a more powerful tool to quickly develop know, like, and trust with your team and prospects.  In the last few months, Facebook has made some major enhancements to their live streaming platform that I feel make it perfect for network marketing professionals.

In the training I talk about which platform you should focus on (Periscope of Facebook Live), and give you the top 5 ways to use live streaming video to help you grow your business faster.  These are simple things that you can begin to implement today that will make a huge difference when it comes to training and working with your team.

33: How to Deal with Unsupportive People
13:35

In this episode we discuss how to deal with people that are close to you, but unsupportive of you when it comes to your business.  One of the hardest things for new entrepreneurs to face is when people they expect to be their biggest cheerleaders are negative towards them regarding their business.

It's really important to understand why this happens and what you can do to help you deal with it.  If you are currently dealing with this in your life, this may be one of the most impactful messages you'll ever hear on this podcast.  It's important to understand that you aren't alone.  Every successful entrepreneur has had to deal with this in their life, no matter who they are.

32: Slow and Steady Doesn't Win the Race for an Entrepreneur
21:51

In this episode we discuss the importance of taking massive action if you are looking to create massive results in your business.  The old adage, "slow and steady wins the race" doesn't apply when you're an entrepreneur.  Slow and steady will kill most people when it comes to your their business.  Just quitting is not enough.

If you want to create extraordinary results in your business you must be willing to commit short periods of all out massive action.  You need to treat your business like an airplane.  Anything less than 100% throttle won't get it off of the ground.  In the training I give you the framework for a 30 day game plan that anyone of you can follow to turnaround your business virtually overnight.

Anyone who is trying to build a business needs to hear this training in order to understand what it really takes to be successful.  For many of you this will be a wake up call, because you're going to realize you've never really worked your business nearly hard enough up until this point.

At the end of the episode I announce the details of a 3-day live training event I'll be hosting on August 12th - 14th in Philadelphia called the Breakthrough Academy Live.  For more details and to register for this event just go to:

31: The Power of Focus and Consistency
16:11

In this episode I discuss two essential elements for creating success in anything that you do, focus and consistency.  Without those two things it's nearly impossible to succeed as an entrepreneur and build a successful business.  Most people when they become entrepreneurs are what I refer to as "some-time".  They build their business only when it's convenient or when they "feel like it".  They're focused for a week then something happens to blow them off course.  In this episode I discuss the keys to remaining focused so you don't get knocked off track.  I give you my top tips for being consistent and showing up every day in your business.  I share with you some of the most valuable lesson's I've learned along my road to success.  This is a recording from a training I did on Periscope last week.  If you haven't had a chance to check me out on Periscope just go to www.BobHeilig.com/Periscope.  I also mention my upcoming group coaching program the Breakthrough Academy.  If you would like information on that you can go to www.BreakthroughAcademy2016.com

30: My 6-figure Video Marketing Formula
28:06

In this episode I give you the exact video marketing formula that I used to go from zero to 6-figures in income in less than 6 months.  The first ever video I posted to social media was in June of 2015.  I procrastinated FOREVER before I finally caved in and started posting videos.  I struggled with everything that most people deal with when it comes to creating videos.  I was worried about what other people would think about me, whether or not I really had anything worthwhile to share and how I come look and come across to the people watching.  I literally had to be forced to do my first video.  I remember how scared I was to upload the video to Facebook that first time.  I was mortified after I finally brought myself to be able to hit share.  To my surprise, people actually gave me great feedback.  They let me know how much the video helped them.  That was my first lesson that there is tremendous value in doing videos.  I committed to doing them several times per week and over the next few months things really started to take off.  I can honestly say, that if it weren't for my decision to begin to market myself using video, I would never be where I am in my business today.  None of you would even know who I am.  In the training today I go over the elements of what makes up a great video.  I give you some specific things to do when you are first starting out.  I explain how you don't have to be super successful in your company or an expert to share valuable videos.  I share with you some of my "secret tips" that I follow when creating videos and how by just paying attention you can come up with an endless amount of content to use.  Hopefully this will inspire some of you to start using this incredibly powerful tool.  I can't wait to hear the success stories from those of you that do.

29: The Money is Not in Your Product or Service
16:39

In this episode we discuss the concept of how the actual money to be made in network marketing is not in your product or service.  The money is in the ability to move your product or service into the hands of the end user (your customer).  The problem most people in network marketing have is they have no idea how to move their products or services.  Network marketing is an industry of marketing and promotion, pursued by people who have no idea how to market or promote.  If you don't know how to market or promote effectively you're basically screwed.  I know this sounds completely counter-intuitive but your product is not your actual product.  Here's what I mean.  Most network marketers are either selling their opportunity or their products and services to people.  What you SHOULD be selling to people is a SYSTEM.  A system that if they follow will effectively turn those products and services into money.  That's the real reason why people start businesses.  To make money.  I promise you this training will give you a completely different way to look at your network marketing opportunity.  I go into detail how you can begin to "systematize" your business to make it more attractive to prospects.  If you implement the things you learn in this episode in your business you should start seeing dramatically better results.

28: Your First Year in Network Marketing
23:32

In this episode we discuss what it really takes to be successful in the network marketing profession.  Specifically we go over what the first year in this business should look like for most people.  It's incredibly important for people to have the proper expectations when it comes to what it will take to become successful in this profession.  Most people's idea of what it's going to take and what to expect is WAY OFF.  People come into network marketing thinking they can put in minimal effort and get maximum results.  That couldn't be further from the truth.  Network marketing is really no different from building any traditional business.  For some reason, many people don't realize this when they first start their business.  I go over exactly what to expect in your first year and what you should be focusing on if you want to create long-term success.  I share with you a "formula" that almost all top earners in this profession follow on their road to success.  I think for many of you this will be very eye opening in terms of what it's actually going to take.

In this episode I share with you a keynote speech I gave in 2013 at the network marketing company's national convention that I was working with at that time.  This was a huge moment for me, given how much I had struggled with public speaking my entire life.  To be asked to close out the weekend in front of thousands of people was a pretty big deal.  The topic of my speech was "We Have a Better Way".  In my talk I discuss how although network marketing isn't perfect - it absolutely is a better vehicle for people who are looking to achieve their goals and dreams.  I share with you some advice on how to overcome all the challenges you face along the road to success.  I share quite a bit about my personal story which I hope will inspire you to keep moving forward.  At the very end I brought out my Mom, Dad, Sister, Brother-in-law and their 4 little kids out with me on the stage.  It was without a doubt one of the proudest moments of my life.  Just 10 years earlier when I was asked to speak in front of a room for the first time, deathly afraid - I never would have imagined to be in that position.  It's a testament to the fact that you can accomplish anything you want if you are willing to work hard enough and commit to the process of improving every single day.

26: How One Webinar Changed my Life
23:47

In this episode I share with you my story of how my life literally changed overnight with one webinar.  It was from a live Periscope I did a few weeks ago that got more positive feedback than anything I've ever done.  It is the most vulnerable and open I've ever been in a training message.  At the very end I get overcome with emotions and gratitude for everything that has happened.  Last month I hosted my first ever paid training.  It was a live webinar, which was the first webinar I've ever done in my life.  I went into the process really not having any idea what kind of demand I would have for the product.  I had spent close to 7 months putting out as much free valuable content as I could and was finally ready to start to monetize my personal brand.  The results that I saw when I opened the registration were nothing short of extraordinary.  I announced the registration on a live Persicope and by the time I was done 15 minutes later over 70 people had already registered!  Within 2 hours I had almost 200 people that had registered from that Periscope.  That was over $5,000 I brought in from a single Periscope.  All total, I had over 1,100 people pay for the live training which brought in $35,000.  On the webinar I offered my group coaching program and a special discount for all the attendees.  Within 24 hours I had brought in a total of over $112,000 in income from that single webinar.  Overnight my life literally changed from that happening.  I share with you some of the struggles I went through last year and how I was able to overcome them.  I give you the biggest lessons I've learned going through this process and hopefully inspire you to continue your journey to greatness.

25: Understanding the 4 Personality Types
22:55

In this episode I discuss the 4 personality types that you will encounter when dealing with prospects and the people on your team.  It is critical that you understand the differences between each so you can more effectively lead and motivate your people.  If you can identify what personality type a prospect is while you are presenting to them, it will also help you in being able to recruit more people into your business.  The 4 personality types we discuss in the training are:  sharks, whales, dolphins and urchins.  I go over in detail what each are, and the specific traits that each possess.  Most people have aspects of many of these, but one that is predominant.  I also give you some tips on how to communicate with each personality type to help you be able to influence them and become a better leader.

24: The Marathon Mindset for Building Your Business
14:52

In this episode I discuss what I refer to as the "marathon mentality" of building your business.  Success in network marketing or any other entrepreneurial venture is not a sprint, it's a marathon.  You need to have a long-term view when it comes to building a business.  In the training I use the analogy of you being the "runner in the race", and describe 3 fuel sources that you will need to finish the marathon.  As someone who has personally finished 4 full marathons in my life, I can tell you it's no easy feat.  Understanding these 3 sources of fuel are critical to you being able to finish the race, and cross the finish line of creating a massively successful business.

23: Beware of the Valley of Death in Your Business
14:40

In this episode I introduce to you a concept called the "valley of death".  This is the place where most network marketers businesses go to die.  After have shared a 3rd party tool to expose a prospect to your opportunity this is where you encounter the valley of death.  When you prospect is interested but has questions, it's critical that you DO NOT answer the questions.  I explain why that is and get you to understand the right way to handle prospects that have questions.  Understanding this concept is important if you want to become a better presenter and recruiter in your business.

22: The Power and Importance of 3-Way Calls
22:25

In this episode I teach you the power and importance that 3-way calls play in building a successful network marketing organization.  The 3-way call is one of the most powerful tools you have at your disposal when building your team.  If you can get your people to understand why these calls are important and they duplicate in your group, you won't believe the results they can help create.  One of the biggest mistakes I see people making is they try and do "everything on their own", and never use the power of an edified 3rd party expert to help them grow their team.  In the training I explain what 3-way calls are, the proper way to set them up and if you are a leader - the proper way to conduct one.  For many of you, this will be a life changing training when it comes to growing your team.  In the episode I make mention of my upcoming group coaching program the Breakthrough Academy.  If you are interested in learning more you can go to:  www.BreakthroughAcademy2016.com

21: The Slight Edge Philosophy
30:37

In this episode I share with you the key message from a book I read a few years ago called 'The Slight Edge' by Jeff Olson.  I have never read a book that had a more positive impact on my personal and professional life.  The message in the training today is what you need to understand if you want to make your New Years resolutions actually stick.  The Slight Edge Philosophy applies to every single area of your life.  It's always working whether or not you realize.  It says that in every moment of every day we are making decisions that over time have dramatic effects on the results we see.  We are either practicing simple daily disciplines or making simple errors in judgements.  Over time these small seemingly insignificant decisions compound to create the results we see in our lives.  If you are not familiar with The Slight Edge, I promise you this may be one of the most powerful trainings you'll ever hear.  Make sure to go pick up a copy of the book.

19: The 'Hot Market' Approach to Customer Acquisition
27:02

In this episode I go over the 'Hot Market' approach to building your business.  The 'Hot Market' approach can be an incredibly powerful way to increase your production and grow the overall volume in your group.  It acknowledges the fact that most people in network marketing are not "sales types", and that most of the people you approach are going to be more likely to be a customer than they are a business partner.  It's designed to help a new person who purchases a high dollar starter pack, to move their product and earn a profit within their first 72 hours of starting.  If you can teach this approach and it duplicates in your team it can create incredible momentum.

18: My Morning Routine
30:02

In this episode I go through in detail what I do every morning to start my day.  In my study of ultra-successful people I found one thing most of them had in common.  They had a clearly defined process for starting out their day that usually started early in the morning.  About 4 months ago I read a book that I would highly recommend called "The Miracle Morning" by Hal Elrod that changed my life.  I began to implement much of what I learned in the book and the results I've seen since then have been unreal.  I go through in detail everything that I do and some of the lessons that I've learned since beginning this process.  I'm sure many of you will get some great ideas for you to implement into your morning routine.

16: Stop Trying to Sell on Facebook
27:41

In this episode we tackle an issue that I know is a controversial one for many network marketers.  Whether or not you should be "selling" your particular company's opportunity, products and services on Facebook.  Facebook has become inundated with network marketers promoting their "stuff".  I tackle the very important question of whether or not this is good for their business and network marketing as a whole.  I introduce one of the most important concepts I've ever learned when it comes to marketing, "learn to create curiosity instead of raising resistance".  I use the analogy of your Facebook page being like your personal TV channel.  If all you are doing is posting about your specific company, you are really nothing more than an infomercial.  I believe this is an episode that every single person that is in network marketing needs to listen to and really understand.  If you or anyone on your team flooding your news feed with company specific content all the time then make sure they listen to this episode.

15: How to Confront the People on your Team
27:35

In this episode we discuss an issue that I know a lot of people in network marketing struggle with.  We go over different scenarios where you may need to confront people that are on your team.  It could be because they aren't doing anything and you want to try to understand why, or maybe they're doing some of the wrong things that could be detrimental to their business and the team.  One of the most important aspects of character in life without question is the ability to confront.  As a leader it's your responsibility to learn to confront people when these issues occur.  When you are willing to confront, it strengthens relationships with people because it shows them that you actually care.  Confrontation doesn't have to be adversarial when done the right way. Here is one of the key takeaways of the training, learn how to "go hard on the issue but soft on the person".  Confront the issue but do it in a way that preserves the relationship.  In the training I'll go over different examples of when you may need to confront, and give you specific things to say.  When you are willing to take this responsibility on, and confront the people on your team they will start to look at you as a leader on an entirely different level.

14: How I Built my own 7-Figure Personal Brand with Ray Higdon
48:20

In this episode I welcome a very special guest, Ray Hidgon.  Ray has an incredibly inspirational story of going from dead-broke, over a million dollars in debt in 2008, to today having built three separate 7-figure businesses.  After failing in 11 different network marketing companies, he finally broke through and became a million dollar earner in the profession.  Ray realized early on the value of building a personal brand and started his very own generic network marketing training website just over 5 years ago.  He committed to putting out valuable content every single day and after a few years became known as one of the top authorities when it comes to network marketing. He took that experience and hard work and launched both a private coaching business as well as an info-product business, selling online courses and physical products on his website.  Today, each of those business are now multiple 7-figure businesses outside of his network marketing income.  Earlier this year he had a single product launch that did almost $850,000 in sales.  If you are looking to improve as a network marketing professional or someone who wants to build their own personal brand this is an interview you can't miss.  Ray and I discuss how he was able to build his personal brand and give specific recommendations and tips to anyone just starting out down that path.  This is by far one of the best episodes of the Your Virtual Upline Podcast to date.

12: The Power of Authentic Leadership
21:04

In this episode we discuss the subject of 'Authentic Leadership'.  Authentic leadership is an approach to leadership that emphasizes building legitimacy through honest relationships with followers.  In the network marketing profession many leaders are never able to develop the type of following they want and truly inspire people because they don't understand this concept.  Truly great leaders are vulnerable and transparent when it comes to their past failures and disappointments.  When a leader is honest and transparent it facilitates trust with the people that are following them.  People need to see that you're not perfect, that you're like them.  There is a fine line that many people step over when being vulnerable and willing to share past hurts.  Often times, people read that as being able to be negative or complain to the people that are following them. This is a HUGE mistake that people make.  One of the biggest lessons I've learned in this profession is that you can NEVER be negative or complain to the people on your team.  I introduce you to a concept that has been so impactful to me, "pass negatives up and positives down".  My goal is that when you're finished listening to this training, you'll be in a better position to lead people and inspire them to take action.  I want you to be the type of leader that can inspire and make a difference in the lives of others all over the world.  That is one of the greatest gifts the network marketing profession gives us all.

13: How Videos can Help You Create Your own Celebrity Brand
49:36

In this episode I welcome a very special guest, personal branding and social media expert Nadya Melton.  Nadya is one of the top authorities on using videos to help you build what she calls your own "Celebrity Brand".  Nadya is a good personal friend and has been one of the biggest mentors to me personally in helping me launching my own brand.  If you have EVER wanted to start using videos to help you grow your home business faster than she is the one to learn from.  Her and her husband John have been six figure earners in the network marketing profession for the last 10 years.  They started to grow frustrated from the daily "grind" of building a traditional network marketing business and knew there had to be a better way.  It was then that they decided to embrace the world of online marketing and saw social media as an incredibly powerful way to generate leads and leverage their time.  One of their biggest motivators was to be able to truly "work from home" and build a business that would allow them to spend more time with their two children.  They have created 2 very successful online courses teaching people how to brand themselves, generate leads using social media and grow a home business.  Nadya has a very popular blog www.nadyamelton.com and her and John have a private mastermind group on Facebook,  My Lifestyle Academy with over 5,000 members.  If you are looking to start doing videos or just want to improve what you are already doing, then I know you find this episode incredibly valuable.

11: Start Treating Your Business Like a Job
27:29

In this episode we will discuss the benefits that come from when you start to treat your network marketing business like it's your job.  When most people join this profession it's the first time in their lives that they have ever been in the situation to be their own boss.  What they find out pretty quickly is that they are actually terrible bosses.  Most people are used to having someone to tell them what to do and hold them accountable for their results.  In the network marketing profession that doesn't exist.  It is one of the biggest reasons why people fail.  In this training I'll explain exactly what I mean.  I'll share with you the biggest areas where we fail ourselves as bosses and how it kills our business.  I'll finish by giving you 4 specific areas you can begin to focus on today to help you start creating better results.

10: Start Talking Less and Recruiting More
24:01

In this episode I explain that if you can learn how to start talking less, you will actually begin to recruit more people into your business.  One of the hardest things for me to learn early on in my network marketing career was to resist the urge to personally explain everything and answer questions for prospects.  A very valuable less to learn is this, "The less YOU say, the more money you will make."  I go over exactly what that means and break the exposure process down piece by piece and explain your role.  I'll introduce the concept of acting as a "consultant" when dealing with prospects and how that can dramatically improve your results.  I'll give you specific tips on helping you become better at prospecting and presenting.  I'll also go over the biggest mistake I see people making that keeps them from being a great closer.  When you're done this training I promise you that you'll never look at the recruiting process the same again!

09: How to Get a New Rep Started the Right Way
26:47

In this episode I go over the right way to help a new rep get started and launch their business.  Having a simple, defined process for getting new people started is the key to creating duplication.  People spend so much time and effort trying to recruit people and then once they sign up, never get that new person started the right way.  You need to think of this process as your new person's orientation to the business.  When done properly, this will make the new person feel more confident and excited about the business.  I will give you 5 specific elements that should be a part of this process that you can start immediately implementing in your team.  Follow this game plan that I lay out in the episode and you will see far less people quit and fail and create massive momentum in your business.

08: How to Approach People That Have Already Told You No
28:31

In this episode I go over how to recontact the people on your list that have already told you no.  A huge mistake many people make is never following up with the people that weren't initially interested.  The biggest lesson I've learned is that when people tell you 'no', what they're really saying is just 'not now'.  Their situations change over time and that's why it's critical to have a strategy to be regularly following up with the people you know.  I will give you 4 different approaches you can use when reconnecting with these people.  I'll also share with you an amazing app that I use to help track these follow-ups.  By the time this training is over, you will be ready to start contacting people today and put together a strategy that will help you never miss an opportunity ever again!

07: The Importance of 'A Players' to Your Business
33:13

In this episode I introduce the concept of an 'A Player'.  I explain how most people in network marketing struggle because they spend their time prospecting and working with the wrong people.  'A Players' are the most successful and influential people that you know.  They are the ones that usually fall on your "chicken list".  In this training, I give you some strategies and exact scripts that you can use to begin to recruit the right kind of people into your business.  When you elevate the level of people that you approach, you start to see dramatically different results.  I'll also give you a strategy to get over the fear you are experiencing now that is keeping you from reaching out to the successful people you know.  This is a MUST listen to training for anyone on your team.

05: The Key to Unlocking Long-Term Residual Income in Your Business
29:36

In today's episode I discuss what in my mind is the absolute "key" to you unlocking long-term residual income in your network marketing business - CUSTOMERS.  We are going to talk about the importance and necessity of customer acquisition to creating sustainable "walk away" residual income.  It's the greatest gift that the network marketing profession offers to those that are involved.  The problem however, is that for many people it remains nothing more than an unfulfilled promise.  Many companies have failed to deliver on what they promise to their distributors.  In my opinion, one of the biggest reasons that this happens is that many of the behaviors that are being taught are not conducive to creating residual income.  There's been shift in many companies to focusing almost 100% on recruiting.  There's no emphasis on customer acquisition or product training and their compensation plans don't really reward that behavior.  There is however, a movement that is happening now back to more of a focus on the value of the customer.  In this training I discuss what this means to all of you and your business.  I give you some strategies and tips that you can start implementing in your business and on your team to help you build a massive customer base so you can create that residual income that you've always dreamed about.
