WFYHP 0104 Sarah Argenal - Working Parent Resource

Sarah Argenal is the Founder & CEO of the Working Parent Resource.

Her goal is to help burned-out professional moms and dads live more deliberate lives so they can experience more meaning, joy, and fulfillment.

After 20 years of working with individuals, couples, professionals, and parents in all different ways, She's discovered a few different things about the reality of working parenthood in modern society:

1 | Working parents who struggle with overwhelm and burnout have one thing in common: They aren’t making conscious choices about how they spend their time.
2 | Working Parents are also searching for a quick fix to minimize their current suffering.
3 | Working parents know they can’t keep living this way, but they don’t think they have enough time to do anything differently I’ve actually heard this phrase: “I don’t have enough time to find enough time.”

She works best with ambitious professional moms and dads who are struggling with burnout and don’t know where else to turn.

We live in a different kind of world right now where excessive consumption, distraction, mindless activity and CONSTANT DOING is leading to unhappiness, stress, and anxiety. You’re in the right place if this resonates with you at all.

WFYHP 0103 Dave Peniuk

Dave Peniuk was born to entertain. At the age of 12, he and a friend started taping their own rock n roll radio station, singing to the songs and commenting on the daily grind of elementary school. From there, Dave grabbed his friend's Betamax video camera and started shooting spoof commercials like Toothpaste X - "The Foamiest" and Cleaning Detergent Y - "Leaves Shirts Spotless and just a bit smaller". Dave quickly moved onto short films where he wrote, directed, edited and co-starred in such favorites as "008 - Silverfinger" and "Nightmare on Beach Drive". But then real life took over and Dave became a commercial fisherman (aka "The Deadliest Catch"), a market researcher (yes, part of those annoying telemarketer calls), and then real estate. At the ripe age of 40, Dave realized that nothing else speaks to his soul like acting and entered back into the world of entertainment starting out learning the craft from Jacqui Kaese at Spotlight Academy. He is now a full-time actor and producer, acting in award-winning web-series like "Night Owl High" or the soon to be released hilarious feature film spoof of Friday the 13th - "Camp Death III: The Final Summer". He was recently on Jenna Elfman's new show, "Imaginary Mary" as well as on the CBC award-winning intense spy-thriller "The Romeo Section". When not acting or auditioning, he can be found in Acting classes with Margie Haber, Diane Charles, Stuart Aikins, and Jeb Beach & Associates, or learning the funny at The Groundlings theater and school.

This seemingly small change in mindset (which he later detailed in the book The Minimalist Mindset) dramatically changed his life for the better.

As of 2017, Dover has completed his entire Life List (which included living alone in the wilderness for a month, traveling to nearly 100 countries, mountain climbing in Antarctica, becoming a best-selling author with his first book Search Engine Optimization Secrets and many other adventures). More importantly though, he has a small group of deep friendships and is able to spend much of his time writing for an extraordinary community (, and sharing life-changing experiences with others.

"My goal as an author? To get your kids to LOVE reading as much as I did when I was their age…and as much as I still do! As a child, I had the goal (not met) to read every book in the children’s section of my local library. Through the books I write for ages 8 to 12, that’s the kind of fervor I hope to instill in kids today.

When I was raising my children and reading to them I often commented, “I could write something better than this.” Ideas began to develop and eventually, I wrote my first book, an early reader chapter book. Like most first books, it had structural problems, grammar errors and plot holes, but it was a start.

I joined the Florida Writers Association in 2004, which has been an immense help in developing my writing skills. That year, one of my books won 2nd place in the Juvenile division of their Florida Palms Literary Awards. Two other books were RPLA finalists in 2010.

In 2009 and again in 2011 I won a generous scholarship to the Highlights Foundation Writers Workshop, a conference I highly recommend to people interested in writing for children.

In 2010 I became interested in e-publishing and the new opportunities it gives to authors. That led me to create my popular blog, which ran for five years until 2015.

My writing has been published in Highlights Magazine for Children and Odyssey Science Magazine for Children (now merged with Muse Magazine.) I continue to write books, with more ideas patiently waiting their turn in the queue."

So he hit reset, and over the last three years, rebuilt his life and his career around what matters and even launched a new inspirational YouTube channel. He has profoundly changed his metrics for success.

Michael's current company Jumpstarters helps creative entrepreneurs to get over the same hurdles that he was able to conquer, allowing him to work with individuals such as Tim Ferriss, Tony Robbins, and Richard Branson. Michael is a big believer in Massive Imperfect Action rather than getting stuck in the minutiae and never moving forward.

WFYHP 0081 Marc Miller

Marc Miller’s career journey included 22 years at IBM, several thriving tech startups, a stint as a high school math teacher, a gig raising funds for the Jewish Community Center and a near fatal bicycle accident that changed his perspective forever.

But after thirty years of wandering the proverbial career desert, often repeating the same mistakes over and over, Marc learned his most crucial lesson:

Most people don’t really know what makes them happy at their core, what fulfills them.

They pursue money, status, a skill set, all of which provide some level of satisfaction, but not contentment. They wind up feeling frustrated and trapped. Others have figured out what they need, but don’t know how to chart a course to get there.

An active member of the Launch Pad Job Club, Marc found himself counseling friends and associates on their career journeys and finally realized he’d found his vocation. He now uses his extensive training experience to help others—especially Baby Boomers— and careers that they could grow into for the decades that lie ahead.

You can connect with Todd via his website,, Twitter @FinancialMentor, or on Google+.

Todd graduated from the University of California at Davis with a B.A. in economics and a passion for creating successful businesses. A serial entrepreneur since childhood, Todd went on to build his own wealth as a hedge fund investment manager before "retiring" at 35.

Todd teaches the principles of personal finance and investing based on real experience. He shows you what works, what doesn’t, and why – with a unique focus on combining personal development with a systematic, disciplined approach to achieving financial freedom.

Todd’s own path to financial freedom consisted of leading an ordinary but comfortable lifestyle that prioritized building wealth instead of overhead, and freedom over flash. The truth is financial freedom isn’t about more, better, different stuff. It’s about having the time, money, and freedom to enjoy your life experience without limitations.

For Todd, that means an outdoor adventure lifestyle, intellectual pursuits, and relationships. First on the list is family and friends closely followed by reading stimulating books, enjoying outdoor recreation like running, swimming, skiing, hiking, cycling, camping, backpacking, and travel. Personal growth is also a high priority.

None of what Todd truly values costs much money, but it does take time. This is one of the hidden gems to financial freedom: having the time to do what gives you more joy in life without the worry, stress, and anxiety caused by money.

Todd teaches the pursuit of financial freedom as a transformational path because that was his experience. Money is always nice, but ultimately it’s just a tool – the inner transformation is the bigger reward.

And that is why Todd founded Financial Mentor – to share this journey with others and to grow a community of like minded individuals who are passionate about building wealth and financial freedom because it improves the quality of life for you and your family.

WFYHP 0059 PJ Jonas - Goat Milk Stuff

PJ Jonas is a business owner, goat-wrangler, entrepreneur, and mother. Afer getting goats to provide healthy milk for her eight children, she decided to put some excess milk into a batch of handmade soap. That decision was the beginning of Goat Milk Stuf, a growing goat milk products business that has been featured on The Today Show, The Doctors, The Huckabee Show, and in “O”, the Oprah Magazine.

What started with an initial small batch of soap has expanded into a host of goat milk items such as goat milk soaps, cheeses, candies, fudge, gelato and more. It’s a team effort to keep the farm running, make and ship all the products, and welcome visitors to the farm. PJ’s husband, eight children (aged 9 to 19), and six full-time employees, all work hard to promote the goodness of goat milk.

With over nineteen years of homeschooling children under her belt, as well as eight years of running a business, PJ enjoys talking to mothers and entrepreneurs across the world about living the best life they can live. She puts her systems engineering degree from the University of Virginia to good use every day, maximizing efficiencies in the processes of her business, farm, and household.

Managing change in a dynamic work environment and constantly re-evaluating what is working and what isn’t are some of PJ’s strengths. A general hatred of clutter, and all other time and energy thieves, helps PJ decide what needs to go; but not everything is subject to change. PJ’s faith in Jesus along with a strong work ethic are non-negotiables that support some of her favorite maxims like the Pareto Principle, the Golden Rule, and the YoungestPerson Rule. These all work together, not so much in a work-life balance that so many seem to be seeking, but rather in a work-family-school-faith integration that all happens simultaneously and continuously.

WFYHP 0041 Laura Moore -

Laura Moore is the Founder of Uppy. She is a Performance Coach specialising in helping driven business and professional women live more. Laura is ridiculously passionate about helping women unlock their full potential so that they can have more time and energy to focus on doing the things they want with the people they want and have a good time in the process.

Throughout her years in the health and wellness industry, she has identified that this is only possible if a solid foundation is built at a personal level, the basis of which is optimum health and wellbeing. Most people claim to know this, yet the numbers of lifestyle-related disease continue to rise, as people continue to do the same thing over and over expecting different results. Laura recognised this and developed the Uppy philosophy, which flips current thinking on its head and respects the fact that it is the mind driving the body, and diet and exercise are only a small piece of the puzzle.

Laura is sick of seeing women struggle because they have been misinformed or just don’t know there’s another way, so she is on a mission to deliver her philosophy to as many women as possible, because she believes that everyone has a right to know how to live more.

34: Debbie Bourdon - Top Performing Real Estate Agent

Debbie Bourdon graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a double major in Accounting and Management, knowing that her real interest was Management.  She felt the accounting degree would land her with a company, where she could eventually move into to a management position.  Debbie started her career at Chelsea Milling Company, better known as Jiffy Mix, where she was hired to run their computer system and process payroll.  During her 13 years there, she worked in their accounting department, human resources department, as well as landed a management position.  She also worked with a direct sales company selling jewelry part time for a few years, as a fun way to get out of the house.  At that point in her life, she felt it was important to stay home with her children until they had graduated from High School.  Upon their graduation, she decided to take the opportunity to “try something else.”  Looking for a career that wasn’t 8-5, one with some flexibility, where she could go out to lunch with her girlfriends when she wanted or take a spontaneous vacation, etc.  The career for her was to sell Real Estate.  She knew it would mean working some weekends, and evenings, but her children had moved out of the house, and her husband was also traveling for work.  Unfortunately, she started selling Real Estate in 2006, right when the market started to crash.  Fortunately, my husband had a stable job.  As with any business, it takes time to get started.  With patience, determination, and lots of hard work, she's become a top producer within Real Estate One, the #1 sales agent in her office, and the top 1% of sales within the entire Real Estate One company.  Real Estate One is the largest broker in Michigan and the 5th largest in the United States.
