Calling all Instagram users! This is the show for you!

056: 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY — Hear from Your Fav Guests!!
36:27

Today’s show is a BIG one, as we’re celebrating our 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY of The Influencer Podcast! So, we wanted to do something special - obviously. I mean, a one-year anniversary only happens once right?!

We’re bringing back five of the most popular guests from episodes that the community seemed to deeply connect with. Today, these 5 stellar women are answering two questions with lessons that we didn’t discuss the first time they were on.

Jennifer Puno from PeopleMap, my life & business coach Nicola Salter (@nicolasalter__loves_life_), Melody and Monica from SimplySpaced (@simplyspaced) and Lauryn Evarts from The Skinny Confidential (@theskinnyconfidential) are the star guests today, and I asked each of them the same two questions…

  1. What was your biggest lesson to growing an impactful and influential business?
  2. What’s one tip or focus in 2018 for improving your platform and serving your community?

Let’s just say their answers do NOT disappoint and I re-listened to the show about 15 times taking notes. They give tactical tips on how to improve your influence today, and tidbits on the practices that make them all crazy successful (while still having a life, might I add!).

I also give my own answers to both of those questions - with answers that might surprise you!

Influencer Insights 007: What Facebook and Instagram Synergy Means for Influencer Marketing
07:14

This week’s episode involves a question straight from a listener: “When do you know it's the right time to hire help?”

Such a good one! I actually not only dive into the question of WHEN in this show, but HOW for a couple reasons. This is such a common question and fork in the road for many influencers - yet it’s one of the most overwhelming times. I really wanted to leave listeners with all the resources surrounding when and how to hire help.

First up, I lay out the secret to knowing when you need help - it’s pretty simple, but not always easy to witness yourself.

Then, I share my exact process of developing a role and finding that ideal candidate. It involves a little practice that doesn’t take too much time but will make the process infinitely easier. It’s actually something you can start preparing even if you aren’t totally to the point of hiring, too.

Influencer Insights 006: When Should You Hire Help + Finding Your Dream Team
12:15

Lastly, I also reveal the exact websites and resources for hiring potential employees and the first order of business once that person is hired.

Influencer Insights 005: Are You On The Best Social Media Platforms for Your Brand?
10:14

Today’s episode of Influencer Insights marks our fifth show, and today I’m covering the pros and cons of social media platforms.

After reading Bloglovin’s take on which social platforms are most relevant to influencers, I break down when you should and shouldn’t focus on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, Pinterest, and blogs.

If you’ve been exhausting yourself trying to be everything on all platforms, stop right there and tune in. And if you’re hesitant to join anything other than Instagram, you’ll want to listen in as well!

Today’s show teaches you the value of each platform, and the times when it might not be worth it based on your content and audience. I also cover what type of content performs best on each platform, the demographics, and where to place any sponsored posts you might have.

So, if you're ready to streamline your social efforts and finally get to the bottom of what to use and when, listen here!

053: How to Create Product Lines and License Deals
46:15

Get ready to learn the ins and outs of influencer product lines and exactly how you can build your brand to create your very own. In a conversation about licensing, whether your brand is truly a fit for a line, and how to create authentic brand deals no matter the product, today’s show is full of great information for influencers!

Lauren Fields from Digital Brand Products is joining us, and as someone who works personally on the licensing side of things, she’s got a lot to say! Lauren (@lauren_fields and http://digitalbrandproducts.com/) works directly with influencers to establish their brands and develop the product lines of their dreams, and her industry knowledge runs deep. Plus, she’s just a down-to-earth Cali girl that I loved listening to!

On top of the behind-the-scenes action with product lines, we hear Lauren’s advice on low engagement numbers - and how to reach out to brands no matter your follower count (yes, even for creating a product line!). It’s possible people - Lauren will tell you how.

Influencer Insights 004: Evolving the Establishment
09:31

This week is a goodie, as we’re talking about influencers who have essentially taken their passion (and I’m talking about a real, soul-deep passion, not the word in its fluffy sense) and created influence from that.

The Cut recently published this article and I love the angle the story dives into. It highlights fashion blogger OGs like Bryan Boy, Aimee Song and Bag Snob and tells the story about how they went from fashion fan girls and boys to sitting front row at major shows.

They started out as kids with hearts on fire for fashion, worked their butts off, and are now leading the influence in their field. It’s pretty cool, right? It’s also such a special reminder that we all need to be aligning our passions with our influence to truly succeed in a saturated market.

In this episode, I give away my biggest takeaway and propose a handful of questions that I want you to ask yourself today and once a month in the future. Warning, things may get a little uncomfortable in the sense that you might become aware that you aren’t truly living from your soul when it comes to your influence. But I promise it’s a very powerful and healthy practice!

A great episode if you’re curious about how these influencers have stood the test of time and the practice I suggest doing if you’re totally lost on what your passion is!

052: How I Doubled My Blog Traffic and Tripled My Instagram Engagement in 90 Days
24:20

In today’s show, it’s just me behind the mic!

And I’m diving deep and going intimate on my experience with affiliate links - and the unhealthy, obsessed hamster wheel I found myself on while relying on these programs as a main source of income.

I talk about how I got out of that rat race - and how a rebrand and triple the engagement came from it. I share exactly how I got to the place I am now - pitching my own deals and being in charge of my income directly - and how I stopped spending 60+ hours a week staring at Instagram, shopping, returning...and comparing myself to others.

If you’re struggling with the affiliate rat race yourself, or are contemplating a rebrand to your truest self, I can’t wait for you to hear this show!

And if you find yourself resonating with the content of this show but saying “OK but now what Jules?” Don’t worry, I’ve got you!

Starting on April 2nd, I’m hosting a FREE 7-day email challenge called ‘The Uplevel Your Pitch Challenge.’ This challenge will teach you 5 simple strategies that I’ve used to book brand collabs, negotiate deals, & monetize platforms, all which has led to a 6-figure business. And you guessed it, without relying solely on affiliate sales! This challenge was created by me, for you, as a way to show you that there are more ways to run a successful business with a successful income, and it all starts with the education behind pitching. I love sharing what I’ve learned, and this is a way for me to share some secrets of the trade - because I genuinely care about your success! 50th Episode Celebrates: How to Create a Six-Figure Coaching Business with Sterling Griffin
01:12:07

We’ve hit our 50th episode! And to celebrate, I’m chatting with none other than my friend Sterling Griffin, who went from couch surfing to running a seven-figure business...in under two years! Yep, time to grab those headphones, people.

Sterling and I chat about the scarcity and comparison trap so many influencers find themselves in, how to change your mindset and confidence levels, and how to understand your worth - and then charge based on that. For anyone feeling totally lost, void of confidence, or like you don’t fit the ‘Corporate America’ mold - you’re going to love this show. A true boost of motivation!

Sterling (@sterling www.sterlinggriffin.com) not only runs a company that brings in a lot of cash, but he’s happy! He’s taken the steps needed to serve a community while bringing success into his own life. As the founder of The Wealthy Coach Academy, Sterling takes his personal training knowledge and teaches fellow coaches and influencers to build successful companies. He’s got a heart of gold and a brain of positive wisdom, and you can’t help but to hang on every word he says. He’s about to blow your mind and change your world if you let him!

Influencer Insights 001: Understanding The New Relationships Between Brands & Influencers
10:41

Hope you all are having a fabulous day! I’ve been waiting to share this with y’all for months now, and I’m so excited to announce the launch of Influencer Insights, a brand new short-form podcast (think 10 minutes or less) that’ll be coming in hot every Monday.

Don’t worry! The Influencer Podcast and our longer conversations will still be taking place on Wednesdays; Influencer Insights is simply a compliment to those lengthier shows. The milk to the cookie :)

So what exactly is Influencer Insights? Let me explain. You see, I’ve been wanting to create something in addition to The Influencer Podcast - especially for those of you looking for MORE, or maybe you’re seeking a way to easily consume a tidbit of value - even if you’ve only got a few minutes. It’ll be me on my own, chatting about the biggest industry trends, Questions and FAQs from listeners (which by the way, you can send by way of an iTunes review or through the newsletter), and relevant topics that I’ve been seeing or reading about.

Think of these as a quick bite of tactical information to apply to your life and business right in that moment! The show is geared to be digestible, interesting, action provoking, and as though we’re chatting over our morning coffee or afternoon glass of cab together - all while learning and bettering our influence.

So, I hope you’ll tune into both shows each week, and I truly hope you enjoy Influencer Insights as much as I’ve enjoyed putting it together. With SO much incredible information out there, I know it’s impossible to consume it all - so I’m excited to do that for you, and then discuss!

To kick things off, I’m popping in your headphones to discuss the new relationships forming between brands and influencers. It’s 2018 - things have changed, and it’s time to talk about why, how, and what you can do to positively grow from these new types of relationships. If you're looking for a better way to work with brands, refreshing ideas for your next campaign, or simply how to authentically monetize your brand better, join me for Episode 1 of Influencer Insights!

Do you have a question you want feature on Influencer Insights? Or feedback for me? To leave feedback or a question, head to iTunes and share those thoughts or questions as a review. You can also send in questions via the newsletter, which you can sign up and gain exclusive podcast access to right here.

Also, please note that we will not be running regular blog posts for Influencer Insights information (today is a special one!). To stay in the loop on all future episodes, sign up for the newsletter here.

Lastly, remember to screenshot this episode and share it with me over on Instagram by tagging me (@julssolomon) and hashtagging #theinfluencerpodcast. I’d love to see who is joining in for our first episode of Influencer Insights!

048: Is Blogging Dead + How to Grow Your Instagram Following in 2018
01:05:31

Coming off a decade in the influencer field, James Nord, co-founder of Fohr Card, joins us to talk about the ever-changing world of influence! From advice on how to grow your platforms (yes, even Instagram!), to what he sees brands looking for, to the importance of an authentic following and what it takes to stand out, you're going to want to listen and then take action on your own platforms ASAP.

As one of the early Tumblr influencers (before influencers were a thing), James came into the industry by way of photography, marketing and fashion. 12:13

Happy 2018!

This week, it’s just me behind the mic - and I’m crazy excited to share one of my biggest secrets to growing your business as we all begin jotting down goals for the fresh year. And guess what? It doesn’t involve taking on more or saying yes to a billion things - quite the opposite actually

Yep! This episode is all about how to say NO to gain more. I’m spilling my strategy on how to clear your calendar to gain results therefore growth in your business. How to assess your current systems and build new ones - all surrounded by doing less. For real this time!

From taking complete ownership of your precious time, you’ll be amazed at where it can leave you growth wise. Not to mention, what a better friend, mother, wife, daughter - whatever! - you can be.

In 2018, I dare you to take back your life and stop being a slave to your calendar. Ready?

039: Blogger Q&A with Sheridan Gregory - Blogging Tips that Prep us for 2018
50:50

Today’s guest is a personal friend of mine and one of the most genuine people I’ve ever had the honor of knowing. I’m beyond excited to have Sheridan Gregory (@sheridangregory) from SheridanGregory.com on the podcast today!

From motherhood moments to video tutorials that make you fall a little bit in love with the girl, Sheridan brings personality and light to her content - no matter the medium. And today, she’s unloading honest answers when it comes to algorithm changes, where she sees the industry going, and how to balance it all.

I love her raw approach to keeping things real in the name of engaging content, and how she truly believes there is space for all in the influencer world - and how to stand out. Because I couldn’t agree more!

Sheridan’s ‘take-action’ items and advice:

  • Algorithms are out of our hands and will be forever changing. Instead of butting heads in frustration, accept what you're in control of and learn to engage with your amazing community.
  • Since the market is saturated, it’s important to show your unique self so that people can connect and feel invested in your life. Don’t be afraid to show the authentic you!
  • Consider exploring video content as a goal for 2018.

BONUS EPISODE: The Best Present You Can Ever Give on Christmas
12:13

On today’s very special bonus Christmas episode, I’m taking the mic solo to talk about something I’m not only thrilled to suggest, but even more excited to execute throughout the rest of the year (and hopefully beyond!).

That, my friends, is the gift of presence. Underneath the self-inflicted pressure to buy the perfect gift or spend a certain dollar amount, something much more meaningful is giving those around you your full attention. We’re talking face-to-face, in-the-moment, heart-filling, not-distracted connections! Which is so necessary in our tech-driven culture where nose down in a device is the norm. This season, and especially this weekend, close your devices and open your heart to something much more important - the people you love.

This quick and heartful episode explores exactly how to do this, and the magic that can happen when you succeed. I hope you enjoy the message and that it leaves a positive outcome for the rest of 2017! Happy holidays, everyone, and thanks for listening!
