In this week's episode, we talk about Attila the Hun, known as “Flagellum Dei,” or “scourge of God,” Attila the Hun was one of the most fearsome enemies the Romans ever faced. He was the ruler of the Huns from 434 until his death in March 453.

Lea is a passionate human connector, inspirational speaker and community builder. As a Chinese ethnic descendant, who was born in Vietnam, Lea and her family fled communism. They survived the perilous journey on a derelict boat, escaping from the oppressive country in 1979. She endured many challenges in the refugee camps in Indonesia and eventually made it to the United States.

How to Develop Team Members Into Servant Leaders

In this episode, we invite Jack Kennington and Andrew Barnes, Rocky's colleagues, to talk about their experience with servant leadership.  Jack and Andrew were present during Rocky's formative years in leadership. Jack, who lives in Tennessee, works with hospice currently but was with Chick-fil-A for 20 years, 13 of which as an Operator of his own store.  Since then, he has had a total of 6 Operators, with a focus on 4, come out of his location. Rocky and Andrew reflect on what it was like to be lead at a young age by their previous operator, Jack. Andrew discusses with Rocky the impact Truett Cathy had on his life.

Al Cartwright: Leadership Principles from the Army

Today's guest, experienced army lieutenant Al Cartwright, shares the leadership principles he learned from Officer Candidate School and in the field. Al Cartwright entered the army as an enlisted trooper and quickly rose through the rank of lieutenant colonel. From infantry officer to army aviator, Cartwright became qualified in both fixed wing aircraft and helicopters, accumulating over 6,000 hours of flight time. In addition, he served as a commander of eight helicopter gunships and supported Project Delta, a special forces unit in Vietnam awarded a multitude of recognitions. Cartwright accumulated over the years many accolades, such as the Legion Flying Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, The Bronze Star, eleven Air Medals, six service ribbons, two campaign ribbons and much more. Cartwright shares his invaluable experience in the field, and his main takeaway proves one of the greatest servant leadership theories: that to lead well, you must never be afraid to let your team teach you what you cannot teach them.
