Jeannie is a director, producer, writer, and mom of 5 children. Her husband is comedian Jim Gaffigan. In 2017 a benign tumor was found in Jeannie's brain the size and shape of a pear. For the past 2 years Jeannie has dealt with brain surgery, complications, throat surgery, and recovery. Her new book, When Life Gives You Pears: The Healing Power of Family, Faith, and Funny People, chronicles her amazing journey of family, love and what happens when a mom is faced with a life altering . 

In this episode Jeannie articulates what it's like to be an incapacitated mom, while she dealt with all of the issues stemming from her brain surgery. Mindfully Navigating Tech and Parenting with Nancy Colier

Seeing Is Believing - Eye Care For Our Kids With Dr. Emily Ceisler

It's time to talk about eye care for your children. Dr. Emily Ceisler is a board certified pediatric ophthalmologist and strabismus surgeon in a private practice in Manhattan. Emily has a medical degree from Harvard Medical School and completed her residency in ophthalmology at Harvard’s Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. She performs pediatric eye surgery at NYU Medical Center and the New York Eye & Ear Infirmary.

In this episode Dr. Ceisler covers a lot of ground. Things get technical when it comes to how to treat different forms of "lazy eye". She talks about the different ways to get kids comfortable when they have to wear glasses or even eye patches to school. A main takeaway is to remember to get your kids checked early.

Preschool Primer with Teacher, Jeanné Graham

For over a decade Jeanné Graham has been a preschool teacher in New York City for children between the ages of 3 and 5 years old. She is a practitioner of the Reggio Emilia approach which is based on children learning in a self-directed curriculum. 

In this episode, Jeanné talks about how she handles conflicts in the classroom between students and the dynamics between teachers and parents. She explains how she deals with kids saying bad words and how she doesn't encourage younger children to say sorry if they don't know what the word means.

Nurses Are A Mom's Best Friend With Maternity Nurse Katie Verbesy

Nurses play a HUGE and very important role for every mom, and there are many different kinds. Labor/Delivery nurses help during the actual labor of the birth and delivery. Then postpartum nurses help after the baby is born in helping new moms recover both physically and prepare emotionally for motherhood. Sarah Thomas' Food Adventures for Picky Eaters

Part of Sarah Thomas' day is curating the wine at a fancy Manhattan restaurant while the other part is filled with getting kids to try diverse food. Sarah is the co-founder, Chief Imaginator, and Story Chef at Kalamata’s Kitchen, which is both a successful children's book series and organization that aims at transforming picky eaters into adventurous ones. Sarah has written 3 Kalamata's Kitchen books which deals with the young protagonist going on food-based adventures. Sarah deals with adult eaters at her other job as sommelier at Le Bernardin in New York City.

Dr. Arash Akhavan Is Back With Skin Health Tips For Summer And Beyond - Dermatology Part 2!!!

Dr. Arash Akhavan is back and schooling us on skin health! Lindsay Price On Why Adoption Is So Important

If you're a child of the 90s, you probably remember Lindsay Price after she joined the cast of 90210 in 1998, or prior to that when she made a name for herself in both "All My Children" and "The Bold and the Beautiful." Most recently she played Camille in 2 seasons of "Breaking Up Together." In 2008 she starred in the NBC drama, "Lipstick Jungle." Inspired by her mom's harrowing adoption story in South Korea, Lindsay is an adoption advocate and works with AdoptTogether to spread awareness about the importance of adoption and how many children in the world need loving homes.

Lindsay opens up to Hilaria and Daphne about how life for her changed when she went from a mom of one to a mom of 2, her approach to balancing the chaos of life between her career and motherhood, and how she handles the aggression/rough housing her little boys display towards each other. However, things get amazing when she opens up about her mom's incredible story of survival and her journey out of South Korea, and her subsequent adoption which so deeply connects Lindsay's own life today.

Danielle Walker Taught Us About Healing

We learned so much about healing both physically and emotionally from NY Times Best Selling Author, Danielle Walker. At 22 she was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and after a plethora of medications that did more harm than good, as well as almost dying on 3 separate occasions, she decided to make dietary changes to end her suffering. Spreading Autism Awareness With Dr. Thomas Frazier Of Autism Speaks

April is Autism Awareness Month and Hilaria and Daphne are joined by Chief Science Office at Autism Speaks, Dr. Thomas Frazier, PhD. He is responsible for the science portfolio, including grant-making, the MSSNG genomic research project and the Autism Treatment Network. As a clinical psychologist, Dr. Frazier has been involved for 11 years in evaluation, treatment and research focused on individuals with autism. Prior to joining Autism Speaks, he was the director of the Cleveland Clinic Center for Autism and an assistant professor of pediatrics at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. He is a dad of 2 beautiful children one of which has Autism and intellectual disabilities.

Over the past decade, Dr. Frazier has published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers and done numerous conference presentations. His research has focused on improving autism identification; developing and studying new treatment approaches; creating and refining measures for tracking autism symptoms and quality of life in individuals and families affected by autism; and translational studies of a genetic sub-group of individuals with autism and phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) mutations.

Autism Speaks is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the life span, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families through advocacy and support; increasing understanding and acceptance of people with autism spectrum disorder; and advancing research into causes and better interventions for autism spectrum disorder and related conditions.

Manners Matter With Raegan Moya-Jones Founder Of Aden & Anais

Raegan Moya-Jones is a mother of 4 beautiful girls, author and the co-founder and former CEO of aden + anais, an award-winning, family-friendly lifestyle brand globally renowned for its superior-quality muslin swaddles and baby products. Actress Alysia Reiner Talks About Open And Honest Communication With Our Kids

Alysia Reiner is an activist, accomplished actress and producer, best known as the “tough as nails” Assistant Warden “Fig” in four seasons of the critically-acclaimed “Orange is the New Black” on Netflix. You might have also caught her on FX's “Better Things”, as well as HBO’s “The Deuce” or maybe your kids heard her voice as Ms. Marmalady in Nick Jr.'s Butter Bean's Cafe among many other projects. But her most important role is the mom of her beautiful 9 year old daughter, Livia.

We Got Poked! The Acupuncture Episode

You're in for a hefty episode of Mom Brain chock full of detailed information! Hilaria and Daphne both swear by the practice of acupuncture and credit it for resolving many of their issues, be they digestion, postpartum recovery, menstrual cycle regulation and a lot more. They each invited their acupuncturists in to discuss the science behind how this ancient eastern form of medicine works in alleviating pain, helping with fertility, weight loss and so much more.

Also, it wouldn't be a Mom Brain episode if the ladies didn't get poked with needles live on the show. So they both got their pulses checked and were administered needles according to what the acupuncturist found was causing problems.

First up was Ann Cecil-Sterman, Hilaria's acupuncturist, a teacher, writer and fertility specialist. She is the author of the widely acclaimed, best-selling book, Advanced Acupuncture: A Clinic Manual, a required text in many acupuncture schools in the United States and more recently, The Art of Pulse Diagnosis, already a widely used text. She travels all over the United States, Europe and Australia to teach the application and methodology of the Complement Channels, the art of pulse diagnosis, (and with her husband Andrew, the use of food as medicine).

Then it was Michelle Spina, Daphne's acupuncturist, expert in Acupuncture, Chinese Herbology and Oriental Medicine. Her core specialty is Women’s health issues and fertility and she's trained in Arvigo Mayan fertility massage. She’s a registered yoga teacher trained in the Core Strength Vinyasa style.

We Got A Pelvic Floor Exam! Learning About Diastasis Recti With Erika Bloom

You asked and we listened! The Mom Brain email has been blowing up and one of our most requested topics is help with Diastasis Recti, the condition which most women go through after child birth, in which the abdominal muscles separate during pregnancy and the healing process postpartum can be overwhelming for many women.

Hilaria and Daphne are joined by Erika Bloom, 20 year veteran Pilates instructor, former professional dancer, a trained doula and pre and postnatal Pilates and yoga specialist. Erika works with countless women to help them rebuild their bodies, using her custom methods to help women throughout all stages of life in rebuilding and syncing their minds and bodies. Try to get a private session at one of her studios and you'll be waiting for a while. Her client list includes, professional athletes, dancers, and celebrities, as well as those young and old, injured and healthy.
