The Importance of Meditation

Coloring, crocheting and apps are only tools to help you become more mindful, they aren't mindfulness itself. You can't get to the inner workings of your mind with crayons. You have to actually do the work, which is meditation.  It's not hard to do, but it's challenging in a world of constant distraction.  Take a few moments to visualize letting go of all of those distractions and connecting with your mind so that you can enjoy total well-being.

Fabulously Imperfect

The problem with perfectionism is that it doesn’t really exist, so it’s a never-ending struggle that results in frustration, self-reprimand, stress and procrastination. It can make those around us just as miserable as we’re making ourselves. Imperfection is the norm, so it’s how we live with that fact that influences our moment-to-moment well-being and that’s why we practice mindfulness. You can break free of the rigidity of perfectionism.

Mindset on Living

168 Hours

We constantly say “I don’t have time.” But we do have time. We have 168 hours a week. So it’s not that we don’t have time. It’s that we’re not making time for that specific thing we’re talking about.  The challenge isn’t about managing time, it’s about managing priorities, combined with not wasting time on mindless activities we participate in so that we can avoid something we’re uncomfortable with.  You can be more mindful about how you spend your time and how you set your priorities.

The Present of Presence

Presence is a foundational element of mindfulness.  Being present means living in the current moment, here and now. We spend the majority of our time worrying about something that already happened or worrying about something that could happen.  The past is over and there’s no changing it.  We can't know what the future holds, so we can only make up stories. Why not consider living in the present, where life really happens?

Practicing Gratefulness
It’s pretty easy to remember to be grateful around Thanksgiving, right? Everyone shares what we’re grateful for, and while we really are grateful, we quickly forget after that day to keep maintaining awareness of what we’re grateful for. Typically, we’re grateful when someone gives us something, or does something for us, but beyond that, most of us don’t give gratitude much thought.
