Description

My name is Brad Mills, I am a Bitcoiner. I'm an average person, I just got into Bitcoin early. I'm not a coder, I look at this space from the point of view of a regular user. I believe BTC is the best form of money. It’s free speech money. Digital Gold. Programmable money for the age of the Internet, uncensorable, peer to peer cash. A new asset class, a store of value. One of the most important open source inventions of our time, gifted to the world by an anonymous creator whose identity is still not known! I fell down the rabbit hole & have been following Bitcoin since 2011. This podcast is my evolving journey in the world of cryptocurrency as I try to reconcile my bitcoin maximalist philosophy & my respect for the Austrian Economic, Libertarian & Cypherpunk roots of bitcoin's creation with the desire to stack BTC by investing in the rest of the space. I hope you enjoy the conversations.

Exploring Brad’s Bitcoin Backstory
02:25:59

This is the second episode with Go Full Crypto podcast hosts Keegan Francis and Mrugakshee Palwe. I managed to do an in-person interview with them in my homeland of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. The major focus of this podcast was on financial literacy and the structure of the financial system. Keegan and Mruga ask me lots of questions on my backstory. I got to tell stories from my past that give my audience an insight into why I have so much conviction for Bitcoin after bootstrapping my own financial wellbeing in my 20's. This was a really fun episode to film and you get to learn about the Bitcoin journey all three of us have been on.

As a person who's worked in the technology space for over 20 years and is an avowed Bitcoiner, Jeff has some interesting insights to share on how those two fields intersect. The two talk about the long-term impact of money printing, why Bitcoin is superior, and why deflation is a good thing for economies. Popping the NFT bubble
01:27:33

In this episode of Magic Internet Money, host Brad Mills invites fellow podcaster Jordan Harbinger onto the show to discuss NFTs, second passports, taxation, and money laundering. Both parties agree on the speculation that NFTs are a tulip style bubble, but are here to stay. The duo share their experiences paying taxes in the cryptocurrency space. Jordan explains how tax evasion is nearly pointless with Bitcoin, since the point of the blockchain is accountability. Jordan also offers his experiences in scam busting, and explains how NFTs could be a new gateway for money launderers akin to money laundering in the art collecting business. Finally, the two discuss the possibilities of second passports in the event of government overreaching for crypto assets.

Bitcoin Only vs ETH/DeFi/Altcoins
01:32:40

In this episode, Brad taps Ivan Brightly to analyze Bitcoin's current crazy rally and its lifting of altcoins with it. Ivan is Brad's friend, fellow Bitcoiner, and investment partner. He was also an early partner at Mike Novogratz's crypto investment firm Galaxy Digital. The two get into one of the space's most touchy debates: should you put your money in Bitcoin only, or should you bet on altcoins as well as DeFi? Some sections of DeFi have raised eyebrows as some people question whether it's really about 'decentralizing finance' or if there's more than meets the eye. Tune in to hear the two's (often contrasting) stances on this and more.

Brandon explains what The Fourth Turning is to Brad, and the patterns that occur between generations reveal themselves. Brandon believes we are in the midst of a Fourth Turning at this time, and discusses a forecast of events to come. Survey Questions Discussed:

Hypothesis

A wealthy person gives you $10,000, what do you invest in?

Instinctively without googling, what do you think the US Dollar is backed by?

What do you think the US National Debt is?

How do you think USD has performed as a store of value over the past 100 years?

Would you be surprised to hear that the USD has lost 96% of its purchasing power over the last 100 years?

If you adjust for the drop in purchasing power of USD, what do you think the return would be?

What do you think creates the new USD?

What type of entity do you think the US Federal Reserve is?

Without googling, who do you think controls bitcoin?

Do you consider yourself knowledgeable about what bitcoin is?

Which asset do you think has been a better investment over the past 10 years compared to bitcoin?

If all the cash in the world is worth $80Trillion, all the gold is worth $8 Trillion, all real estate is worth $200 Trillion, what do you think all the bitcoin in the world is worth?

Do you trust banks?

If bitcoin succeeds as the electronic money of the internet, do you think it could ever increase in price 50x to be worth the same amount as gold? ($8 Trillion)

Conclusion

I listen to Nick's podcast often and we decided to do a crossover episode.

Nick doesn't know anything about bitcoin, we discuss the basics of cryptocurrency and I try to convince Nick that Bitcoin is not a ponzi scheme.

We then get into social & political discussion including my skepticism over how MSM reports and controls the narrative, how I think the Trump Mueller investigation is just distraction from more impactful issues, and the implications of the Assange arrest.

This episodes dips more into social & political issues because that's what Nick is an expert in.

Comedian Hunter Collins Learns he is a NoCoiner
01:47:12

This episode is with my nocoiner friend Hunter Collins, a comedy writer & standup comedian who was part of the marijiuana legalization activist movement in Toronto.

Hunter & I used to do sketch & standup comedy together in Toronto in a previous life. I gave up on comedy it to become an entrepreneur & twitter shitposter, but he’s stuck with the comedy thing and is really good at it.

I wanted to do some episodes of the podcast with people who aren’t doing this full time … typically bitcoin podcasts are being done with influencers, developers, crypto founders or others embedded in the Bitcoin space … but I wanted to do something different and get an idea of how far away we might be from mass adoption of bitcoin as money by talking to some above average nocoiner friends.

My name is Brad Mills, I am a Bitcoiner. I am not a coder, I look at Bitcoin through the lens of a user & I believe BTC is the best form of money. I am not trying to make money with this show or sell you anything. This podcast is my evolving journey in the world of cryptocurrency as I try to reconcile my bitcoin maximalist philosophy & my respect for the Austrian Economic, Libertarian & Cypherpunk roots of bitcoin's creation with the the desire to stack BTC by investing in the rest of the space.
