Everything I Ever Did: Shame
24:49
If we view ourselves as unworthy, we act unworthy. The world knows this, so it approaches shame from a self-centered perspective - if we love ourselves more, we will feel shame less… right? But how many of us have seen that repeating “you’re worthy” doesn’t remove the sting of what we’ve done, or resolve the pain of who we used to be?

In this episode we talk about what shame is, how loving ourselves doesn’t remove it, and why trusting God’s word about your identity is the key to freedom.

Grief

Ever read the book of Job and find it a little… unrelatable? Confession: It was Phylicia’s least favorite book for a long time! But Job teaches us some fundamental principles about who God is when we are grieving. In this episode, we dive into who God is when we face grief, regardless of the cause. How do we trust Him when we’re disappointed and full of loss?

Looking at stories of people like Hannah, Naomi, Hagar, and the Samaritan, we learn how God meets us in the hardest times of our lives.

Anxiety
31:29
If you’ve lived with anxiety for most of your life, the thought of overcoming it sounds like an unrealistic dream. Yet this is what Jesus promises (Matt. 11, John 14, Matt. 6). Jesus’ promise was not as simple as “pray about it” or other Christian platitudes thrown at anxiety. There is no quick fix. But Jesus never makes a promise He won’t bring to fruition.

In this episode, we break down why approaching anxiety physically AND spiritually is essential to battling well. We talk about how knowing God’s character is the first step to true trust. Lastly, we talk about what victory over anything - anxiety included - looks like for the believer.

Redeeming Broken Sexuality
35:40

The reality is that the Bible is the most sex-positive book that exists when you understand it rightly.

There isn't this dichotomy between people who hold a Biblical sexual ethic and people who are sex-positive who believe that sex is awesome, wonderful, exciting, healthy and that you should be able to talk about it. These aren't two opposite camps. They aren't polar ends of a spectrum.
