About Jeff Dewing:

As someone who has experienced the highs and lows of success and failure, Jeff knows what it means to persevere through the hard times.

Growing up in the East End, Jeff was exposed to the raw entrepreneurial spirit of local business owners. This was an early influence and partly why he decided to found his own maintenance company, Essex Air Conditioning (EAC).Following the financial success of EAC, it seemed to Jeff that continued business prosperity was guaranteed. He celebrated his early victory by buying his beloved football club, Clacton FC, to help it grow and succeed just like his first business. As time went on, Jeff became increasingly distracted by his passion project on the pitch instead of the day to day at EAC. With the last of his funds, he created a new business from his garden shed, one that would grow to become his largest holding – Cloud Facilities Management. Jeff learned from the mistakes that he’d made, and changed his approach to one that focused on people – and within a year, Cloudfm was producing a turnover of £1 million; and within four years, £70 million. Had it not been for the lessons learned following the failure of EAC, it is doubtful that Jeff could have enjoyed such levels of success – lessons that he is now dedicated to sharing with as many fellow entrepreneurs as possible.

A massive part of Jeff’s personality and success is his optimism, vision and bottomless sense of humour. He definitely enjoys clowning around.

About Megan Carle:

How does a confident, highly experienced senior executive end up laying fully clothed in a hotel bathtub, eyeing the door while stuffing Pringles crisps into her mouth, certain that someone’s coming to hurt her, probably kill her?

Workplace bullying affects millions of people; one in three report and yet it is known as “the undiscussable.” So, let’s discuss it! In doing so we will inform, inspire, and enrage your listeners. We will help them recognize, identify, and navigate workplace bullying. We will connect your listeners to this silent epidemic, to each other, and most importantly, to themselves. They will finally understand that they are not alone. They are not “crazy.” And, they are not at fault. Simply—workplace bullying really f*cks with targets. Together, let’s shine a light on it.

Join Megan Carle, a former Nike executive, who rose the ranks of a male dominated organization, ran into workplace bullying, raised her hand for help, didn’t get it, and, after nearly 30-years, culminating in the role of VP Basketball, made the decision to leave, her mental health in shambles.

The decision flew in the face of her DNA.  As a coach's kid, she had been raised on winning. Winning was the fifth food group. Leaving equated to quitting. Quitting equated to losing. Losing made her a loser.

What if, instead, the win was in realizing that to stay was to acquiesce to a system that wasn’t built to support her? What if, instead, the win was realizing that to leave was a sign of dignity, courage, and an unwillingness to be part of a system that doesn’t play far. What if, instead, the win was in walking away. #walkawaytowin

About Anthony Willoughby:

His mission is to help individuals and organizations achieve greater fulfilment and productivity by removing the jargon and meaningless soundbites and unnecessary complexity inherent in most business and social 'speak' and enable them to understand, own, and take personal responsibility for what they really want do to.

We do this through a powerful transformative methodology called Territory Mapping, which was inspired by conversations with Chibu tribal communities in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea. Outside of spending time with Kea, her kids and eating (one of her most fave things to do), she spends most of her time understanding, discussing and studying people, their connection to themselves and others and enabling those that she can to thrive in the world.

Speaking with Nick Gold

How can we be professional speakers?  How has the world of speaking changed since COVID?  What are the things that make some speakers great?  What has Barbara done that has changed her world?  How can Lisa Stansfield be relevant for speaking?

Join Em Stroud and her Clown Barabra as they chat all things Speaking with Nick Gold.

Get in touch with Nick:

About Nick Gold:

With a firm belief that successful events which deliver maximum ROI for both attendees and organisers can be held anywhere, even a cow shed, Nick Gold draws on his 20+ years consulting experience working with 8,000 speakers and servicing 1,000+ events per year to address the pain-points and opportunities that exist for event professionals.

With a background in the era of the first dotcom boom and bust, and then some more ‘grounded’ work life with a major FTSE100 company in IT and project management, Nick found himself in the mid-1990s looking for the opportunity to grow his own company and create something new.

And so his story with Speakers Corner began. Initially a bespoke entertainment bookings agency, Nick has turned the business into a market-leading speaker bureau and consultancy working with 6,500+ speakers and servicing 1,000+ events each year, which sits at the heart of the events industry

Nick also manages the business with his brother Tim, which also makes him well placed to comment on how family and business can work together!

Nick Gold was the first British President of the International Association of Speaker Bureaus (IASB) from April 2020 – April 2021.

Nick was formerly the Chairman of the EASB (European Association of Speaker Bureaus). He has spoken at major industry events including Confex and The Meetings Show, and has been published extensively across UK media outlets, including: The Telegraph, City AM, Huffington Post UK, and Raconteur. He has also been interviewed by the BBC and LBC radio.

Before his Speakers Corner adventure began in the mid-1990s, Nick previously worked in the energy sector at Power Costs Inc. (PCI) and Centrica, where he specialised in project management, business development, business analysis and bid tendering.

A warm character who speaks with passion and authority on content, the events industry and measuring ROI, not to mention entrepreneurship, managing SME’s, creating an inclusive culture and motivating a workforce to go above and beyond, Nick inspires audience interaction with questions from the floor during his sessions and delights in sharing stories with delegates after the talk has finished.

Today we scratch the surface on this concept and give you small but powerful steps you can take to start using authenticity as your new secret weapon to success.

Art with Joanna Gilbert

Join Em Stroud and her Clown Barbara as they chat all things Art.  How do we find that place to create?  What shifts did she make to become an artist?  What has being an artist in common with performing and what are our own blocks around it.  How can Barbara and Joanna do their own you tube channel? And much much more…

Joanna’s Social Media:

Instagram: @joanna_gilbert_artist

About Joanna:

London based artist Joanna Gilbert paints TRUTH. Her truth. But it is a Truth that many will identify with.

It was during her Masters at UAL Chelsea College of Arts, her divorce and reaching some of the lowest points of her life during 2018 that she found an invincible strength within her as a result of a simple understanding of life.

"All my life I felt like I wasn’t living my true self – I was living a life for others. I had to be the best wife, the best mum, the best daughter, the best me. But the truth was I didn’t know who I was, or if I had ever known me at all."

Gilbert's bold and beautiful large-scale abstract paintings were born out of constant uncovering and rediscovering the real Joanna Gilbert. An investigation into interaction - with herself, with those around her and with the world we experience.

Since graduating from Chelsea UAL with a distinction in a Master of Fine Arts, Gilbert has come into her own. She has shed her fear of failure and of striving to meet the expectations of others. In return, there is a wiser, more truthful understanding of life that she wished she had known when she was a teenager.

Joanna is currently represented by AVIVSON Gallery, London. Despite the turbulent year, she has had 2 solo shows in 2020: ‘Limitless’ during May, and ‘Freedom’ during Nov / Dec. 2021 and 2021 is looking promising with another solo show scheduled for April and she will also be shown in the Karlsruhe Art Fair, Germany during May 2021.

Inspired by life and her involvement with a mental health non-profit called iheart, (who are educating young people on how to uncover their innate wellbeing); Joanna has shed her fear of failure, of living up to the expectations of others and is now living her true self.

Joanna’s passion and motivation to inspire others comes across through conversation and she has recently been asked to speak to secondary school children and a Pupil Referral Unit – on how ‘Art is Everywhere, we just need to walk with our eyes and hearts open.’

About Nicole:

Ten years ago, following a career in investment management, I was at home raising three children under three and unsure what my future held. Fast forward to 2020 and I have a boutique property development company currently building out 105 homes and commercial units across nine sites in London.

What first attracted me to property was the fast pace and excitement of being a hands-on developer. It was a way of combining my love of architecture and design with my financial knowledge. We have built out millions of pounds of property over the last decade and were at the forefront of alternative finance raising over £6.4m via crowdfunding for six of our sites.

Building on my experience and expertise, particularly around the importance of personal branding within the property space, I'm often invited to speak at events throughout the world with engagements in Dubai and Canada during 2020.

I am also a regular property columnist with Modern Woman magazine and am a best selling author of Bricking It, with another book on the way. Of course I have a podcast where I share engaging conversations with people from all industries at

Outside of property development I’ve invested in property auction company Bamboo Auctions and music merchandise company Terrible Merch. I am a non-executive director on the boards of these companies as well as that of Cogress, an alternative finance company.

Whenever possible my partner Paul and I escape to the Mediterranean to sail on Savvy of London, his XP-55 by X-Yachts. We recently launched a sailing channel on YouTube, SailingSavvy, which follows our family’s adventures at sea.

He might be asked to develop a new logo; redesign a website; brand a perfume, a beer, a wristwatch, or a retail environment. But in almost every case it soon becomes obvious that the real problem—the one responsible for lousy morale, lower-than-average productivity, frustrated customers, and an ongoing dearth of innovation is a lack of common sense. Nine times out of ten, Martin finds himself serving as an organizational change agent, bringing to light and resolving corporate blindness and miscommunication to help companies run smoother and become more profitable.

In Martin’s much-anticipated new book, “The Ministry of Common Sense,” he shows how companies can pinpoint their bureaucratic bottlenecks and invisible red tape to unlock innovation, create an amazing culture, and importantly—save money! About Brad

Grab a copy of my FREE book here (just pay shipping)

A bit of background:

My quest for learning and connecting began at Binghamton University, where I studied biology and was a member of the crew team. Working as a full-time EMT and bartending at night, I was able to pay my own way through school.

After graduating, I didn't get into any of the medical schools I wanted, so I looked for a job in NYC. During the market crash in 2008, I joined a Wall Street Asset Management Firm in NY as a broker trainee and cold caller, while studying at night to get my real estate license. I then joined Bond NY, and my career really took off. Within 2 years, I was the top producing agent in the office, received several promotions, and developed a team of 6 producers.

Life took a dramatic turn in 2010 when my father passed away. It was during this time that I began to focus on options trading, marketing, and sales. Thanks to networking and an article published in Forbes Magazine, I attracted some amazing mentors, joined multiple mastermind groups, and started several successful companies, such as Hartwood Capital LP, where we worked with private investment clients and experienced returns of 106% in our first year.

As my network grew, so did my desire to help others. I started mentoring entrepreneurs and helping them develop. Seeing others grow, thrive, and become successful became my greatest calling and my greatest joy.

This resulted in the development of Make More Marbles, a company dedicated to helping entrepreneurs through messaging, mentorship, and masterminds, and Color More Lines, which helps companies with a cause grow on Amazon and beyond.

I enjoy staying active and have done both marathons and triathlons. I also enjoy supporting veterans and charities, including The Greatness Foundation and The Unstoppable Foundation.

Entrepreneurship with Julie Cohen

Join your host Emma and her Clown Barbara talking all things Entrepreneurship.  What does it mean to be an Entrepreneur?  What has having Google as your main clients got to do with a small café called Brian’s?  How can we disrupt the business world by not pitching and so much more…

Follow Julie

About Julie…

Across the Pond is one of the tiny number of creative agencies in the world founded by a woman.

The difference this makes, say employees, is palpable.

They describe the agency as uniquely open, fair and adaptive. Like CEO, Julie Cohen.

Eleven years ago, Julie spotted the potential of video for the tech industry. She founded Across the Pond as Google’s first in-house video agency in EMEA, helping to change Google’s approach to communications forever.

She’s since grown her business three times over, now with full-service offices in London, San Francisco and Singapore, and a new raft of global tech and innovation clients.

Remarkable in itself. More so, because she heads a company that is 70% women. And those women are leading projects that both impact and challenge a hugely male tech industry. (Current clients include Google, YouTube, Xiaomi and Expedia).

The agency remains close to Google. But is better defined by its independence.

Not least in Julie’s refusal to pitch; an industry-defying stance she took public last year in the agency’s press campaign No One Wins a Pitch and The Drum’s Pitch Perfect event.

For her, great work is only forged through equal, collaborative and paid partnerships.

She also respects her team too much to give away their expertise for free.

Instead, her employees enter the room as equals, speak as experts and pour their hearts into solving real-life business problems. Clients genuinely willing to collaborate are rewarded with 100% of the agency’s energy.

This insistence on equality is pervasive. This year, Julie has promoted women into CD, VP and Head of Culture roles. Across the Pond continues its involvement with the Creative Mentor Network, supporting young people from diverse backgrounds into the industry.

Now, as the agency pivots towards the huge potential of its APAC markets, Julie’s passion for understanding new cultures is key (one of the agency’s guiding principles is “Listen First. Listen Second”), this year helping to secure Xiaomi, Ecovacs Robotics and One Smart as partners. And propelling Across the Pond even further towards fulfilling its global potential.

About Joanne

Completely unique business, Grasmere Gingerbread is unique and is only available from us and was established in 1854.  The recipe is a secret – I do not know it!

I am 3rd generation of my family to work in the business, been in our family for over 90 years, now my daughter Yasmine (24) now works alongside me.  The business is part of my DNA and that of my family, my other daughter once asked me on route to a photo shot for the business (she was only 4 at the time), “Mummy is all the world made of GB?” I don’t run the business textbook style. I don’t know what the bottom line is… my husband deals with all the accountancy stuff.  I am driven by passion… do what I think/feel is right and good.

Do my marketing through by natural storytelling and not driven by sales so not the normal or text book or academic application to business, but hey 166 years on. And since I took it on in 2000 the company has grown so much, started with 3 full-time staff and one seasonal.  At present 17 and before Covid several vacancies…

We also do lots of nice things for our staff…

The business is different, the product is, and so are we!

I realised how lucky I am to have the knowledge and tools to put in place everything I need to ensure that my new family will be financially secure. By day I work at a wealth management firm in the City of London. I am a Chartered Financial Adviser and also a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society (PFS).
