After graduating college, I experienced a massively debilitating back injury - a 10mm herniation at my L4/L5 disc and bulged disc. I spent those 2 years exploring my movements, figuring out what felt good and what hurts, and slowly reintroducing weighted movements. As someone with Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS), I have found that improving my body awareness and strengthening my weaknesses is the most profound thing that I can do for myself. KATIE GOSS: My interest in health and wellness began 20 years ago when I decided to take on a career in nursing because I was passionate about helping others. As a cardiac critical care nurse, I enjoyed the constant learning and critical thinking it required. Knowing the power of prevention and self-care, I left the medical field, trained in Pilates and continued my own health journey experimenting with different approaches. As a licensed physical therapist with a strong background in strength and conditioning, Michael likes to blend the realms of strength training and rehabilitation to provide prehab, or preventative rehabilitation, to his patients. A common human behavior is to address problems after they become an issue and far often too late, which is a reactionary approach. He believes the key to improved health care is education and awareness. This proactive approach—prehab—can reduce the risk of injuries and pain in the first place. He is a huge proponent of movement education and pain science. Clinically, he has a special interest in ACLR rehab and return to sport for the lower extremity athlete. 15% OFF VivoBarefoot Shoes with “OPTIMAL15” at checkout: https://bit.ly/3cDHcAxImprove your feet = improve your body!
