Description

Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden have made a living for their coverage skills on the football field, and while it's a different technique, they're now applying those traits on their podcast 'All Things Covered'. Instead of wide receivers, tight ends and running backs, they'll be covering sports, entertainment, social issues, personal interests and more. Every Wednesday, the 8-time Pro Bowler Peterson and 2-time Super Bowl champion McFadden will discuss what's happening on the gridiron as well as what intrigues them off the field. Each week they'll welcome a star from the sports and entertainment world to have wide-ranging conversations about what interests them. Guests can include active or former football players but also athletes and influencers from other sports and walks of life. Football is how we know our hosts, but far from what defines Pat and BMac. The name says everything; expect all things to be covered! You can also watch us on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/AllThingsCovered

Episode Date
Jared Cook on playing with Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees and Justin Herbert, Chargers' chances in 2021 and more career highlights
1794
Somehow, we've incidentally neglected the tight end position over the year-plus history of All Things Covered. That changes on this episode as we welcome one of the best TEs over the past decade, Jared Cook. Cook details making a position switch at the suggestion of Steve Spurrier in college and how that changed his career path. He then discusses his pro career which includes 6 different stops from being a rookie with the Titans to a 13-year vet now with the Chargers. And over that span, Jared has caught passes from some excellent quarterbacks including future Hall of Famers Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees. He describes one of his most memorable moments, being on the receiving end of a brilliant Rodgers throw in the 2016 playoffs vs. the Cowboys, and what clicked so well with Brees more recently in New Orleans. Then, it's time to talk about his current situation and the remarkable young QB at the helm of the Chargers. Cook breaks down what makes Justin Herbert so special already with an even higher ceiling. Superlatives wrap this chat! Devin White on Tom Brady's leadership, Bucs vs. Pats, Tampa's Super Bowl title defense, trash talking and laying the foundation at LSU
2083
A champ is here! Bucs linebacker Devin White joins Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden to cover it all! We start away from the football field as Devin details his love for horses and the role they play in his life. The third-year pro shares his experiences with COVID-19 during last year's postseason before diving into The GOAT, Tom Brady. White explains how TB12 treated his return to New England as well as his leadership style. Which is the better team: the 2020 Bucs or 2021 Bucs? Our guest answers that and expresses how things are much tougher this season when Tampa Bay has to defend the title as opposed to last season when there were more limited expectations. Anquan Boldin on Larry Fitzgerald's future, Cardinals turnaround, Ravens playoff runs, Florida State days
3049
In honor of 'Cardinals Week' for the Vikings and Pat P, we had to bring on an Arizona legend and Anquan Boldin certainly fits the bill! Quan joins us to discuss his upbringing in Pahokee, Florida, to arriving at Florida State as a quarterback and leaving Tallahassee as a wide receiver. He played well in college, but dominated once he got to the pros, winning Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2003. Boldin remembers just how bad the Cardinals roster was when he got to Arizona and his feelings when the organization drafted Larry Fitzgerald #3 overall the very next season. What does he think Fitz's chances are to return to the NFL and AZ? AB eventually won a title with the Ravens, but the 2008 Super Bowl loss to the Steelers still haunts him. We transition to his time in Baltimore which included some heartbreaking losses but also some amazing wins. Anquan is eligible for the Hall of Fame next year and shares his thoughts on potential induction before the Superlatives part of our show! With induction ceremonies this weekend, we had to head back to a HOFer for a guest, welcoming Edgerrin James onto the show for an awesome conversation (27:00). The guys of course have to fit in a bit of Miami/FSU trash talk to start. Edge then discusses what it means to enter the Hall with former teammate Peyton Manning and why he chose Jim Irsay as his presenter. He then takes us back to his youth, the importance of staying true to his image and his breakout moment at 'The U.' James then details his pro career starting with his incredible rookie campaign with the Colts and setting sights on records. BMac of course has to mention some defeats his Steelers dished the Colts and later, the Cardinals. Patrick Peterson comments on feeling appreciated by the Vikings, omission from Top 100 list, potential of Minnesota's defense, if Aaron Rodgers will play for Packers
1490
Last year, we featured Cardinals check-ins on a weekly basis during the season. This year it's time for change not just to Vikings check-in, but to SKOL check-in as Pat P is eager to about his new team. Patrick Peterson is embracing his new situation and new opportunity with the Minnesota Vikings. Recently, we've seen some vintage Pat P clips from the team's OTAs as he tells us how he physically feels. Not only does his body feel great, but he finally feels appreciated on an organizational level. Our colleague Pete Prisco recently released his Top 100 NFL players for the 2021 season and P2 was a notable omission. Pat reacts and makes a guarantee for the future of that list. We also get his thoughts on working with Mike Zimmer, the potential of the Minnesota defense with a focus on the secondary. Who is someone that has surprised him during these offseason activities? The answer actually might surprise YOU. Lastly, how closely is Peterson monitoring Aaron Rodgers' situation with the Packers, knowing that Green Bay should be the stiffest competition in the division? This is our first true SKOL check-in! The Dallas, Texas, native takes us from his humble beginnings to a brief stop in Atlanta at Georgia Tech to Toronto, a summer in Beijing and some wild years in Miami. Hear about the culture shock of a teenager playing in Canada for the Raptors, an Olympian sharing the court with Kobe Bryant and a budding superstar sacrificing to join LeBron James and Dwyane Wade as part of the Big 3. And although Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden ultimately signed elsewhere, they each took visits to the University of Georgia because of the standard that Champ Bailey had set. So it's only right that we welcome one of the most accomplished corners ever to the show (25:30)! But first, P2 and BMac chop it up on what's happening at Vikings OTAs (1:30). Does Pat have a swag update to share? And how is he acclimating with his new organization? 'Has Pat Heard!?' sees how much he knows about the latest happenings with a member of his 2011 draft class and what went down in the golf world this weekend (11:30). '7 Questions' asks if the guys prefer to play man or zone coverage (17:30). Next it's time for our secondary to expand. Champ Bailey discusses everything from his collegiate exploits to his pro dominance and many moments along his career (25:30). First, the Georgia native details his start in football, how he ended up with the Dawgs and finishing 7th in the 1998 Heisman Trophy voting. We then take it to the NFL as this GOAT shares what it was like learning from 2 other all-time studs at the position and teaming up with Deion Sanders and Darrell Green in the Washington secondary. P2 has to ask some technical DB questions regarding Champ's stance and we get educated on an absolutely wild stat from his career. Bailey tells the guys what it was like to get traded to Denver in 2004, how he developed his reputation as a strong tackler, what happened on that infamous play with Ben Watson and his other-worldly 2006 season. An inquisitive Pat P hears all sorts of Hall of Fame details before we cover current Broncos topics such as former QB Tim Tebow returning to the NFL as a tight end, the selection of CB Patrick Surtain II and Aaron Rodgers rumors. Finally, Superlatives where Champ lists his top 5 cornerbacks of all time! Herm Edwards on football passion, Arizona State gig, Jets' tenure, Miracle at the Meadowlands & defensive back evolution
5322
Herm Edwards is a football lifer with loads of wisdom to pass along which he has done for years as a coach and continues to share on this episode as our latest guest (33:00)! But first, P2 and BMac chop it up on Vikings OTAs and react to Minnesota's 2021 regular season schedule (1:30). Which game does P2 have circled already? We think you may know the answer. Coming off an incredible performance last week, the namesake of 'Has Pat Heard!?' attempts to continue his hot streak (11:45). '7 Questions' takes a look at WR matchups Pat P is looking forward to this season and he retells a story involving one of his early battles with Calvin Johnson (24:30). We need to add to our secondary with someone who played the position and coached the position. Former defensive back and current Arizona State head football coach Herm Edwards joins hosts Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden to discuss everything from his playing days to coaching days (33:00). Herm fills the guys in on his style as a player and how corners have evolved through the years. He also breaks down the most famous play of his career, known as 'The Miracle at the Meadowlands' to Eagles' fans and simply as 'The Fumble' to Giants' fans. Edwards describes his interest and influences in coaching with credit to guys like Tony Dungy, Dick Vermeil and Marty Schottenheimer. While an assistant in Tampa, he had the opportunity to coach Ronde Barber and speaks to why he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. Coach details his first opportunity at a head job with the Jets, getting traded to the Chiefs and stresses the importance of having a good quarterback. Why are we seemingly not making much progress when it comes to hiring more diverse coaches? That subject is tackled by the guys before they get into the Sun Devils, assessing the feedback around Herm's hire, his confidence heading into Year 4 with the program and what his future in coaching holds. Finally, Superlatives, where we learn the background behind "You Play To Win The Game!" Teddy Bridgewater on trade to the Broncos, what Panthers need to fix, comeback mentality and South Florida roots
4478
Teddy Bridgewater's name has been in the news but he hasn't spoken to the media since his trade from Carolina to Denver. That changes on this episode as Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden chat with the new Broncos quarterback about his current situation and entire career (32:00). But first, Pat P and BMac chop things up on one of Teddy's teammates and how the organization and the NFL is approach his injury. Ja'Wuan James tore his Achilles during an off-site workout which has sparked a debate about how these situations should be handled in terms of compensation. Our hosts weigh in (1:30). P2 puts forth a phenomenal effort in 'Has Pat Heard!?' causing a conversation if the segment should be retired (10:00)! Peterson and McFadden each share teammates they looked up to during '7 Questions' (23:30). Next, it's time to expand the coverage and welcome on another signal caller. Teddy Bridgewater joins the podcast to share his journey (32:00). Teddy takes us from Opa-Locka to Louisville, Minnesota, New York (very briefly), New Orleans, Carolina and now Denver. He was around one of the greatest high school football teams ever - 2007 Miami Northwestern - and explains what he took away from that squad. While many members of that team went on to play locally in college at Miami, Bridgewater forged his own path at Louisville. A few years later, another South Florida QB followed in his foot steps and ended up being the #32nd pick in the draft...Teddy shares his thoughts on Lamar Jackson and the criticism he often receives. #5 then offers some advice for how Pat P can handle the cold in Minnesota. Our great guest then speaks openly about his horrifying injury he suffered in 2016, how it changed his thought process and his road to recovery. Learning from Drew Brees is something any quarterback could benefit from, and Teddy says his two years in New Orleans did wonders for his process. Did he get a fair shot in Carolina? And how is he approaching a quarterback competition in Denver? Finally, we finish on Superlatives! Fred Taylor on Tim Tebow, his Hall of Fame candidacy, Jaguars' draft, power of perception, podcast success
5240
It's about time Fred Taylor gets his due. Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden do that by welcoming on the former Gator and Jaguar great to discuss recent moves made by his old organization and to highlight his case for the Hall of Fame and lots more (29:00). But first, our co-hosts chop it up on the NFL Draft with a focus on the Vikings' pick and how some of our former guests fared (2:00). 'Has Pat Heard' tests P2's knowledge of juicy football rumors (11:30), while we learn Pat's first impressions of Minnesota during our newly re-branded '7 Questions' segment (23:15). Then it's time to chat with a great pro (whether it be at football or podcasting), Fred Taylor (29:00). Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne are now Jags, so what does the man who spent 11 years with the organization think of the selections? Tim Tebow is also rumored to potentially be joining the team as we hear Fred's feelings about his return. Taylor then shares what it was like growing up in Belle Glade, Florida, and addresses the legend of kids chasing rabbits in his hometown. He traveled north to the University of Florida for his college career then not too far to Jacksonville for his pro career as we discover more about those experiences. Fred details how injuries early in his career could have negatively impacted the perception of his game in the long run. Playing in a small football market also didn't help his case when it came time for Pro Bowl selections. Despite all that, he built a strong case for the Hall of Fame and believes he will eventually be inducted. Hear Taylor relive memories of a 2007 playoff matchup vs. the Steelers and explain why his podcast "I Am Athlete" has found so much success. Santana Moss on "Hennessy Game" vs. Cowboys, reclaiming glory at Miami, perception of undersized WRs and Sean Taylor's memory
5363
The South Florida flavor continues on All Things Covered as we welcome our second Miami Hurricane in as many weeks. Santana Moss not only dominated on the college stage at 'The U' but brought that playmaking ability to the league for a successful 14-year NFL career. He joins co-hosts Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden to discuss his path and shares some tremendous stories along the way (31:00). But first, Pat and BMac chop things up, starting with another big announcement from P2 himself (1:15)! It's NFL Draft week, as the guys take a trip down memory lane to the 2011 draft before quickly analyzing what's in store for the 2021 draft (8:00). What will the Vikings do at #14? "Has Pat Heard!?" truly puts a traveling Pat Peterson to the test (15:45), while "21 Questions" explores why Ronde Barber isn't in the Hall of Fame (22:30). After halftime, we bring a wide receiver into the game plan (31:00). Santana Moss grew up in Miami, but his allegiances weren't solely to the hometown Hurricanes during his youth. He explains why he adored the Seminoles all the way until they failed to offer him coming out of high school. The guys then explore Moss' time at 'The U', how his freshmen class was able to restore glory to the program, what it was like seeing them win a national title the year after he left and if the refs had something against the school. Is that 2001 squad the best college team ever? We jump to the pros as Santana offers his reaction to being a 1st-round selection alongside college teammate Reggie Wayne, Daniel Snyder's desire to bring him to Washington and the perception of undersized wide receivers. Our guest balled out in 2005 once arriving in DC and tells us what led to that breakout campaign. Santana has been open before about drinking Hennessy pregame, but the legend goes to another level when discussing a matchup vs. the Cowboys in 2007. Sean Taylor was the heartbeat for both Miami and WFT, as Moss details the profound impact his passing had on so many people. Superlatives focus on the Mount Rushmore of Miami Hurricanes and the most under-appreciated WR in the game.  'All Things Covered' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox and wherever else you listen to podcasts.  You can listen to All Things Covered on your smart speakers! We think you'll like our latest guest...For the first time, Patrick Peterson welcomes on a new teammate of his, as we went straight to the top of the Vikings' depth chart for a fantastic chat with quarterback Kirk Cousins (38:00). Before Captain Kirk, our hosts chop it up on Pat's farewell letter to Arizona that recently appeared in The Players Tribune (1:30). A month after making the decision to join a new team, he's fully ready to reflect on his decade in the desert. P2 also opens up about one of the lows he experienced while with the Cardinals, which was finding out he was a diabetic (4:30). 'Has Pat Heard!?' follows as we tap into some sports ownership news, Alex Smith's retirement and the new NCAA transfer rule (13:00). Who are the guys funniest teammates ever? '21 Questions' has the answers (28:00). Next, it's time to get familiar with Kirk Cousins (38:00). Kirk shares his excitement over Pat P heading North and braces him for what to expect in the Minnesota winters. Cousins is no stranger to viral moments and we cover a bunch of them, starting with him hitting the Griddy (popularized by Justin Jefferson) in Week 17. The Michigan native shares more on his journey from 2-star recruit to 2-time Pro Bowler about to enter his 10th season in the NFL. He also details some of his experiences at Michigan State, which included a 4-0 record vs. the Wolverines and being teammates with 2 future NFL QBs, Nick Foles and Brian Hoyer. Kirk takes us back in time to the 2012 NFL Draft and the emotions of being the 8th quarterback selected. You better believe he remembers each player taken ahead of him at his position. "You Like That!?" is a clip that will never be forgotten, as Cousins discusses the origin stories of that moment. Listen to hear about what it was like playing on the franchise tag, why the split from Washington happened and how he ended up in Minny. The guys chop it up about last season for the Vikings and take a look ahead to 2021 and dethroning the Packers in the division. Finally, Superlatives reveal Kirk's most outlandish purchase, which surprise, isn't all that outlandish! How NFL players can be set up for healthier lives once their football career is over and the importance of mental health for athletes
2762
This episode goes in a different direction than normal but we aim to cover all things, as the name promises. Last week, a tragedy occurred in which a former NFL player, Philip Adams, shot and killed 6 people in Rock Hill, South Carolina, before taking his own life. While we are unaware of exact details, the incident leads to a discussion on the physical and mental state of players in the aftermath of their football careers. Chris Hope played in the NFL for 11 seasons and also served as a mentor to Adams, as the two hailed from the same hometown. Hope joins hosts Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden as they have an honest conversation about the side effects of playing football. We want to make it clear that Philip Adams is not the victim but we also want to explore ways for ex-players to lead healthier lives. Chris ends the chat by saying "We're all going through something. You ain't in this by yourself, so don't be afraid to ask for help." That message is for everyone as our crew tries to convey on this episode. Gregory Rousseau on opting out, positional versatility, South Florida football influences, and plans to attend the NFL Draft in Cleveland
4103
Gregory Rousseau only played 546 college snaps, but he made an incredible impact during his short tenure at Miami. Now, he's preparing for the NFL Draft and took some time during that process to join Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden to discuss his journey (38:00). But first our hosts chop it up on a multitude of topics. The guys start by breaking down their pre-draft interview process (1:15). What was the weirdest question they both received? Pat and BMac continue to bounce around, focusing on a potential boycott of offseason workouts (10:45), Hideki Matsuyama's Masters' win (13:45) and the untimely passing of hip hop legend, DMX (19:00). 'Has Pat Heard!?' follows testing P2 on Julian Edelman's retirement, Aaron Rodgers hosting Jeopardy! and Eddie George being named the head coach at Tennessee State (23:45). '21 Questions' gives the guys a chance to get technical when it comes to DBs (31:45). Then it's time to welcome our guest and soon-to-be 1st-round pick (38:00). Gregory Rousseau details day-to-day life since opting out and what led him to the decision to forego playing for the Hurricanes in 2020. He also takes us back in time to explain why he signed with Miami and what led to him pursuing defense over offense in college. Greg is a monster off the EDGE at 6'7 and shares that super-tall trait with another former Hurricane, Calais Campbell, who has acted as a mentor to the draft prospect. While Greg ended his high school career in Dade County, he grew up in Broward County just like Pat and BMac. He explains how his roots helped him believe he could achieve his pro football dreams. Rousseau evaluates his Pro Day performance, opens up about how he responds to teams asking about a lack of film and lets us in on the organizations that have shown the most interest during the pre-draft process. Greg will be in attendance in Cleveland, but hasn't decided if he'll go for the handshake or hug with Commissioner Roger Goodell. We learn more about his positional versatility, before ending on Superlatives! 4874
Jaycee Horn (28:00) and Asante Samuel Jr. (59:00) are both top cornerback prospects in this year's draft class whose dads were perennial Pro Bowl players. But they also have their own unique journeys that we attempt to share on this show. Before we get to our guests, co-hosts Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden chop it up on the pre-draft workouts (1:30). After not stepping on a scale for months, P2 was SHOCKED when they called out his weight at the combine. '21 Questions' puts BMac on the spot to deliver his best CB in the 2021 NFL Draft (21:45). Then, we expand our secondary! Jaycee Horn did have a famous dad (Joe) that played in the NFL, but he has more than made a name for himself during college at South Carolina and throughout the draft process. On this episode, the CB prospect joins co-hosts and fellow corners Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden to discuss his journey (28:00). Jaycee explains how he has tried to emulate Pat P over the years, his first football memories and his dad's famous cell phone celebration video. He also covers his recruiting process which included a switch from Tennessee to the Gamecocks, stepping in as a freshman starter in the SEC and his recent Pro Day performance. Horn firmly believes he's not only the best cornerback in this class, but the best defensive player as well. BMac has studied Jaycee and gives an extensive breakdown of his game as the guys then share tricks that he'll be able to use at the next level. Finally, Superlatives! Asante Samuel Jr. carries the name of a former All-Pro corner but is trying to carve his own path at the same position in the NFL. NFL Draft Hidden Gems: University of Charleston WR Mike Strachan & Florida State EDGE Janarius Robinson share their unique stories
2037
With the NFL Draft quickly approaching, we'll be highlighting several top talents that could be 1st-round selections. But for every Patrick Peterson (going high in the draft) there are players down the draft board grinding to prove that they belong. That's the focus of this episode as we feature two potential hidden gems, Mike Strachan (1:30) from the University of Charleston and Janarius Robinson (18:15) from Florida State. Mike Strachan (1:30) is a true hidden gem that could win up being the steal of the 2021 NFL Draft. The Bahamas native shares his background which includes leaving his home country at 16 to pursue his football dream in the United States. Mike explains how he landed at the University of Charleston in West Virginia, his crazy Pro Day stats, and his approach to being the underdog (despite his massive size). Strachan is 6'5, 228 and runs his 40 in the 4.3s or 4.4s, so on paper, his Calvin Johnson comparisons aren't crazy! Janarius Robinson (18:15) is a name you'll hear during the 2021 NFL Draft and on Sundays next fall. The EDGE prospect out of Florida State joins Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden to detail his path to the pros that includes some tragic bumps along the way. Corey Brewer on Florida's repeat titles, friendship with Al Horford & Joakim Noah, March Madness nostalgia, Mavericks' 2011 title, Zion Williamson's crazy athleticism
3033
Although our focus has heavily been on football, we can't ignore March Madness! And who better to talk to than a two-time champion and former Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four? Corey Brewer who was part of the last team to win back-to-back titles joins Bryant McFadden for a wide-ranging conversation that covers college and the pros. Corey is known for playing with a smile on his face and explains where that love of the game stems from. He also discusses the 2004 recruiting class he was a part of, one that also included Joakim Noah, Al Horford and Taurean Green for the University of Florida. The highest-ranked recruit of that bunch details when the Gators realized they could win it all in 2006, their desire to come back and try again in 2007 and where those teams stack up in college hoops history. Brewer discusses why programs simply don't even threaten to repeat anymore, the feeling of cutting down the nets and being in Gainesville during Tebowmania. As we transition to his NBA career, we cover the difficulties of going from the warmth and winning to the cold and losing (aka the Minnesota Timberwolves). Brewer's fortunes soon changed as he linked up with the Dallas Mavericks and won another title in 2011. He describes the mentality going up against the LeBron James led Heat and what it was like partying in Miami after the series-clinching victory. BMac taps into a few specific games from Corey's career including his 51-point night in 2014 and his big role in the Rockets' 3-1 series comeback vs. the Clippers in the 2015 playoffs. After nearly a decade, the swingman was reunited with his college coach Billy Donovan in Oklahoma City before some super memorable moments on a 10-day contract with the Sixers and a bubble appearance with the Kings. Corey is now a coach for the New Orleans Pelicans and details the growth of Brandon Ingram as well as the freakish athleticism of Zion Williamson. Finally, Superlatives! Highlighting HBCUs: Southern University legends Aeneas Williams and Coach Pete Richardson detail the past, present and future of HBCU football
2744
It's a special week in the college football landscape. On Saturday, Southern University plays Jackson State, so we thought this was the perfect opportunity to further highlight HBCU football, following our conversation with Mel Blount a few weeks ago. On this episode, we feature an outstanding chat with Southern alum and Pro Football Hall of Famer Aeneas Williams as well as longtime Southern coach Pete Richardson. Both men are to be commended for their storied careers and efforts to further elevate HBCU football. Aeneas and Coach each share their path to Southern and detail the history of HBCUs with a focus on the representation within the Pro Football Hall of Fame. We shift our focus to this week with that matchup between the Jaguars and Tigers and beyond just one game, the importance of the legendary Deion Sanders now being associated with HBCUs. Rondale Moore on crazy Pro Day performance, Tyreek Hill comparisons, beating Ohio State and returning kicks
2738
Rondale Moore is far from the biggest prospect that will be selected in the 2021 NFL Draft, but he might be one of the most athletic and most skilled. On this episode, the former Purdue wide receiver joins Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden to discuss his path to the draft (22:15). But first, P2 and BMac chop it up on the draft process they went through. Pat knew he was leaving school early, but how did he go about hiring an agent (1:15)? The namesake of the segment felt super confident heading into 'Has Pat Heard!?' but can he secure a perfect score this week as we discuss draft trades and the approval of a 17-game NFL season (9:15)? '21 Questions' answers a question from the fans on draft evaluations as we continue the theme of the show (13:30). Then, it's time to welcome in our speedster of a guest, Rondale Moore (22:15). First up, we have to discuss the epic Pro Day performance that Rondale submitted last week, one that was highlighted by a 4.29 second 40-yard dash and 42.5" vertical leap. Moore responds to concerns about his size, how he ended up with the Boilermakers and his high school exploits. And that's not just limited to football. We learn about his basketball playing days with Romeo Langford (now of the Boston Celtics). Rondale recalls Purdue's famous win over Ohio State in 2018 and details his interest in the return game. We tap into this WR class, his pro comps and end on Superlatives! Patrick Peterson explains decision to sign 1-year deal with the Vikings and remembers 10 years with the Cardinals
1938
After a decade in the desert, Patrick Peterson will have a new football home in 2021. P2 explains his decision to sign with the Vikings. What was enticing about the situation in Minnesota? What can the team accomplish this season? Pat breaks down his new team before looking back on his old team. It was a great run with the Cardinals that comes with great memories. It wasn't easy leaving Arizona, but those 10 years will always be remembered fondly as a time and a place where he cemented his legacy.  'All Things Covered' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox and wherever else you listen to podcasts.  You can listen to All Things Covered on your smart speakers! Jameis Winston on Bucs' Super Bowl win, love for Drew Brees, Saints' 2021 outlook, Florida State's 2013 title team
3852
From being the youngest Heisman Trophy winner to the first overall pick to highs and lows as the Bucs starter to serving as the Saints backup QB, Jameis Winston has had a truly fascinating career to this point. On this episode, Winston discusses his past, present and future with fellow Seminole, Bryant McFadden. The guys start with a lengthy conversation on the Florida State days. Jameis details his love for baseball (2:30) and what led him to choosing FSU over in-state schools like Alabama and Auburn (5:40). We hear about his relationship with Jimbo Fisher (7:00), his mentality during his redshirt season (11:00) and get to relive the magic of the 2013 season that ended with a title and the most prestigious individual award out there (14:30). Why does that Noles team remain overlooked? And does Winston himself get enough credit for his outstanding collegiate career in which he only lost 1 game? The conversation then shifts focus to the NFL and the emotions of seeing your former team capture the Super Bowl. Jameis spent five seasons with Tampa Bay and shares some interesting thoughts on how he felt watching Tom Brady lead the Bucs to a boat parade (30:15). We uncover his reasons for joining the Saints (33:30), how much Drew Brees means to him (39:30) and his outlook on the upcoming QB competition with Taysom Hill (46:30). And we have to know: where did 'Eat a W' come from (51:30)? Superlatives signal the end of the show (54:00), but not before we ask for Jameis to name the best wide receiver in the NFC South.  'All Things Covered' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox and wherever else you listen to podcasts.  You can listen to All Things Covered on your smart speakers! Mel Blount on rule that carried his name, dominant Steelers defenses and importance of HBCUs + Is Patrick Peterson close to a free agency decision?
4562
There are different ways to measure dominance. Some may consider stats or accolades, but very few players come along that literally force changes to the way the game is played. Mel Blount, the latest guest on All Things Covered, was a game-changer! The 1975 Defensive Player of the Year was so dominant that the league instituted the 'Mel Blount Rule,' to limit the contact defensive backs could make with wide receivers. Blount joined the show to discuss his reaction to that rule (which happened while he was still active), the vaunted 1976 Steelers' defense, Terry Bradshaw's toughness and the role of HBCUs in the football landscape (28:15). But first, hosts Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden chop it up themselves. Pat has a big decision looming as he breaks down the feeling of being a free agent for the first time in his career (1:15). The guys also reflect on Drew Brees' career after the official retirement announcement was made (4:45). "Has Pat Heard!?" delivers as always (8:30) and we offer a great tease for our guest in "21 Questions." P2 and BMac rank their Top 5 cornerbacks ever (16:00). You don't want to miss their lists. Here's a spoiler though: our guest Mel Blount appears on both of their Top 5 rankings. Next it's time to welcome Mel to show (28:15) He discusses attending an HBCU and how they can regain some of their athletic prominence. You can't mention Mel Blount without bringing up the "Mel Blount Rule" as we dive into the emotions following the league deciding his style of play would be restricted moving forward. The 4-time Super Bowl champ comments on film study in the 1970s, massive differences in the locker room, the greatest Steelers quarterback of all time and why Chuck Noll is often overlooked as one of the greatest coaches ever. Finally, Superlatives with a DB and Pittsburgh focus! Nick Saban details how Dolphins/Drew Brees debacle changed the course of his career + the motivation for more at Alabama and College Football Playoff thoughts
3417
The phrase 'GOAT' gets tossed around a lot these days. Quite frankly, it's used way too much. But it's not hyperbole when we use the term to describe our guest on this episode. 7-time national champion Nick Saban joins All Things Covered to discuss his NFL tenure, his future at Alabama and why he barely celebrates after winning title after title (27:00). But before we get to the GOAT, Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden chop it up. As an ode to our guest, Pat and BMac chat about the differences between college and the pros and their preferences at each level (1:20). The guys then cover Dak Prescott's mega-deal with the Dallas Cowboys that took way too long to get done (6:35). And why is Dak still treated unfairly? P2 has been very in-tune with the news, so we try to stump him today in the latest edition of 'Has Pat Heard!?" (15:35). And then in "21 Questions" we learn his favorite childhood team and dive into what will matter during Pat's upcoming free agency process (21:30). Next, the college football legend and current Alabama head coach Nick Saban joins the show (27:00). Saban talks little about his golf game before remembering Pat's infamous non-interception vs. the Crimson Tide in 2009. All these years later, was he in bounds? That play was just a part of the great battles with Julio Jones, which offers another trip down memory lane. Saban has dominated for nearly a decade and a half at Bama, but we revisit his time in the NFL with the Dolphins. Why did the Drew Brees deal fall apart and how did that influence the decision to return to the college coaching ranks? Saban offers great insight on that situation/debacle...Quarterbacks haven't been an issue in Tuscaloosa and that's partially because of the talent around them and what they are asked to do. Saban shares their philosophy at the position before commenting on his coaching future. He may be 69 years old, but that hasn't stopped his passion and desire to win. All things continue to be covered such as the possibility of a conference-only schedule, how quickly he thinks about the following season after winning titles and the possibility of the College Football Playoff expanding to 8 teams. Antoine Walker remembers gambling for 36 hours straight with Michael Jordan, 1996 NBA Draft class, relationship with Paul Pierce and 2006 title with the Heat
3284
We don't talk strictly football here at All Things Covered. We live up to our name! In honor of the NBA's All-Star weekend, Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden welcome 3-time All-Star himself, Antoine Walker, to the show. The guys discuss All-Star memories (2:30) which basically turn into memories of Michael Jordan. Antoine helped organize some pickup games for MJ which eventually led to gambling with MJ... And as you can imagine, those are some crazy stories. Listen for the wildest game of spades you've ever heard (8:00). 'Toine also covers the 1996 NBA Draft class and its place in league history as well as thoughts on Kobe Bryant (14:15). Antoine is closely linked with Paul Pierce for their days as the Celtics star duo (22:15). Pierce is presumably set to join the Pro Basketball Hall of Fame as we discover the "Truth's" competitive edge AND more on his wheelchair bathroom break during the 2008 NBA Finals. Walker wasn't part of that team and that's largely due to Danny Ainge. Why did they have a poor relationship? Antoine discusses the current version of the Celtics and whether they should have traded for James Harden when they had the chance (31:45). After winning a college title in 1996, he was able to win a pro title a decade later with the Heat. There was some legendary basketball and legendary partying that took place during that season to say the least (36:00). And of course we have to ask about Antoine's patented Shimmy (41:45) Superlatives wrap things up as we uncover the Top 5 Chicago players of all time (44:00)! LeSean McCoy on winning back-to-back Super Bowls, Tom Brady's competitive edge, his own football future and Hall of Fame hopes
4114
We thought we were the rabbit's foot for our podcast guests. It turns out this guest was the ultimate rabbit's foot for his past two teams. 2-time Super Bowl champion LeSean McCoy joins All Things Covered (32:00) to break down his titles with the Bucs and Chiefs, the similarities and differences between Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes, what's next for him and much more. But first, our hosts Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden chop it up on NFL Combine memories (1:30). Do they remember their numbers? Then we discuss the scary accident involving Tiger Woods last week and send our thoughts to Tiger and his family (8:15). LeBron James is bigger than basketball and has been for a while. No comments from an international soccer star will change that (12:30). "Has Pat Heard!?" offers a layup with the news of J.J. Watt signing with the Cardinals and tests P2 on if he has heard the latest with Russell Wilson trade rumors (17:30). "21 Questions" hits on a discussion from last week as the guys comment on the dangers of playing football (25:15). Next, it's time to welcome on the champ, LeSean McCoy (32:00). Shady breaks down the Super Bowl high as well as his experiences with the GOAT, Tom Brady, and the Baby GOAT, Patrick Mahomes. He spills on the Bucs group chat but won't spill on who was crying after the NFC Championship game. We then venture through McCoy's career, learning how he landed at Pitt and how influential Andy Reid has been for him from Philadelphia to Kansas City. Chip Kelly didn't have the same impact as we cover his Eagles tenure before focusing on his Bills days and a memorable moment from teammate Vontae Davis. Now that he has 2 rings, what does the future hold for the 6-time Pro Bowler? LeSean hints at his future on the show and also offers his thoughts on how much longer Tom Brady can play. Derwin James on rehab process, Sean Taylor comparisons, Justin Herbert and Chargers' future
3690
We needed a little more Florida State representation on the podcast, so we brought on a guest that literally has a Seminole tatted on him. Derwin James joins All Things Covered to discuss his health, his versatility on the field and 2021 expectations for the Chargers (33:00) But first, our hosts chop it up on that viral video featuring Cam Newton and a young camper (1:45). What are the dangers of seeking social media fame? Patrick and Bryant also share their thoughts and emotions on the untimely passing of Vincent Jackson (8:00). Jackson was selected one spot ahead of BMac in the 2005 NFL Draft and played alongside Pat in two Pro Bowls. The guys were shocked and saddened to hear the news and hope the NFL continues to implement more programs to help retired players. We transition to 'Has Pat Heard!?' testing his knowledge of recent news events (18:30). Carson Wentz was traded, Tim Tebow retired from baseball and Deion Sanders made his head coaching debut. But how much did P2 know before we asked/told him? Next up is '21 Question' where you get to find out the most underrated players our duo have gone up against (26:15). Then, we welcome former first-round pick and former All-Pro, Derwin James (33:00). Derwin shares how his rehab process is going and informs us of a trip to the Bahamas he took alongside Pat and Jalen Ramsey to work on their craft. We learn how Polk County helped shape his football path, as did having several family members that would make it to the NFL. Derwin addresses the folklore that he lined up at nose guard in high school and speaks about his versatility on the field, which has garnered Sean Taylor comparisons. Derwin recollects his commitment to Florida State which was stamped with a tattoo during. Listen to hear 2018 Draft memories, thoughts on Justin Herbert and new Chargers coach Brandon Staley. Superlatives close us out as Derwin tells us who he hates more: Florida or Miami... Larry Foote details Tampa Bay's dominant defense and the impact Tom Brady & Antonio Brown had on Bucs locker room during Super Bowl season
4977
This week we welcome someone who was just crowned a Super Bowl champion for the third time in their football career, but for the first time as a coach. Bucs outside linebackers coach, and former teammate of both Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden, Larry Foote joins All Things Covered and shares some insight on Tom Brady's personality, Tampa Bay's game plan to disrupt the Chiefs and memories of playing with the Steelers and under the legendary Dick LeBeau (38:00). But first, our hosts chop it up on what sport they would have pursued more seriously if football hadn't panned out (1:30)? Pat's name has been in the headlines since high school so recent reports regarding his future with the Cardinals are nothing new for him to deal with. But how does he handle it all (7:30)? P2 and BMac then head around the league (11:45), catching up on an unhappy "curly-haired" Rusell Wilson and J.J. Watt's release from Houston. "Has Pat Heard?" tests what he has been tapped into in the past week (20:45) and the return of "21 Questions" gives the listeners the chance to ask the guys some questions (26:00). If you want to be a part of the show, leave a question attached to a 5-star review on Apple Podcasts and we could answer it on a future episode! Next, Larry Foote joins for a wildly entertaining conversation (38:00). Foote was college teammates with Tom Brady at Michigan so he's able to share a long history with the GOAT. We also learn about BMac's recruiting trip to Ann Arbor (hosted by Larry) and more secrets from that frigid weekend in 1999. Foote was not only a teammate of Pat and Bryant, but he also was a former teammate of Antonio Brown and details what it was like adding him to the Bucs roster midseason. The trio also covers the NFL's hiring process, Bruce Arians' staff-building technique, the keys to Super Bowl LV and coaching Jason Pierre-Paul and Shaquil Barrett. There's lots of Bucs talk but also plenty of focus on the Steelers and Cardinals as well. We test trivia knowledge and finish with Superlatives as always and as the trash talk continues! Super Bowl LV Recap: Tom Brady gets 7th ring, Todd Bowles' scheme limits Patrick Mahomes and Chiefs + Addressing Pat's NFL future, legacy & Hall of Fame hopes
2943
We have a new NFL champion, even if the Super MVP is a familiar face. But despite the biggest sporting event in the country taking place on Sunday night, our very own Patrick Peterson's name was able to sneak into the news on Monday morning. So, we open the show by addressing rumors that Pat and the Cardinals are preparing for a split after 10 seasons (1:10). Then, P2 and Bryant McFadden shift back to the Bucs 31-9 victory over the Chiefs in Super Bowl LV (5:00) Immense credit is due for former a lot of former Arizona coaches that are now with Tampa Bay. Pat once again shares his feelings towards Bruce Arians and speaks about the diverse staff he has put together. Todd Bowles has deservedly gotten a lot of praise as well for how his scheme was able to limit the Chiefs high-octane offense and the best player in the game, Patrick Mahomes. The guys think Tom Brady could now be the greatest team-sport athlete of all time in addition to already being the football GOAT. We cover some officiating blunders and some scraps involving defensive backs including Antoine Winfield vs. Tyreek Hill and Tyrann Mathieu vs. Brady. Now that the 2020 season is officially over, Pat shares what he'll remember most about this unprecedented year (28:00). 2021 Pro Football Hall of Fame announcements were made over the weekend so Pat's legacy is examined on this episode (34:35) How much does he think about his Hall of Fame chances and does he think he'll one day get to Canton? Lavonte David shares shock over Tom Brady signing with the Bucs last offseason and previews Super Bowl LV matchup vs Chiefs
1873
It's not typical for a Super Bowl participant to sit down for an extensive conversation with the media the week of the big game. But we're not your typical media. On this episode, Bucs standout linebacker Lavonte David joins Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden to discuss his journey, Tom Brady, the Super Bowl and more! First, Lavonte clears up questions about his health heading into Sunday, before diving into his winding path that led him to this moment. With 3 South Florida guys on the show, we examine if Broward County (home of Pat and BMac) or Dade County (home of Lavonte) produces the better football players. Lavonte has somehow only made 1 Pro Bowl and he shares why he thinks he remains overlooked. He also speaks openly about some of the dark days with Tampa before the organization turned around with the signing of Tom Brady this offseason. Our guest was in complete shock when the move happened and even more surprised when the GOAT Facetimed him. Brady's will to win comes through clear in an example Lavonte gives us that happened after the Bucs NFC title game victory. Let's not forget about the addition of Antonio Brown... P2, BMac and Lavonte also cover keys to victory vs. the Chiefs, the odds of a defensive player winning Super Bowl MVP and pregame nerves that might occur. Of course, we wrap with Superlatives! Jerome Bettis discloses why he came back for a final season that ended with a Super Bowl victory, all-time Steelers & the importance of team chemistry
3096
It's a super-sized Super Bowl week edition of All Things Covered! Bryant McFadden welcomes former teammate and Pro Football Hall of Famer, Jerome Bettis, to discuss Super Bowl XL memories, the famous card games the Steelers had, Pittsburgh's current situation and much more. Jerome first details what led him to pick the Steelers over the Oilers when the Rams gave him a choice of trade destinations. We then hear the real reason why JB decided to return to the NFL for one final season in 2005 after serious pondering retirement. That decision allowed him to become a Super Bowl champion the following season. The Bus shares his mentality towards team-building and recalls some epic card games those Pittsburgh teams were known for. The guys continue to chat about Super Bowl 40, exploring Willie Parker's run and Bill Cowher's coaching style. Brandon Jacobs relives Giants' Super Bowl wins over the Patriots and examines Eli's legacy and Saquon's future in New York
4531
All Things Covered already features one 2-time Super Bowl champion, but on this episode we welcomed another. Brandon Jacobs joined hosts Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden to discuss his experiences beating Tom Brady and the Patriots, the 2005 RB draft class, Eli Manning's legacy and much more (29:00). But first, Pat and BMac do their thing. They start by remembering the life and career of Kobe Bryant, nearly a year after his tragic death (1:15). The guys then shift focus to the conference championship games (4:45), exploring tons of angles from Bucs-Packers. Can we agree on the Brady vs. Belichick debate now or is that still ongoing? Will Aaron Rodgers remain in Green Bay? P2 shares his thoughts on Matt LaFleur's controversial decisions from Sunday, while BMac is disgusted with a defensive play call from before halftime. Pat is thrilled for some familiar faces who will be appearing in the Super Bowl including Bruce Arians, Todd Bowles and first ever All Things Covered guest, Tyrann Matheiu. Then, we debut a new segment called "Has Pat Heard!?" as we check in with what he may have missed as he fully embraces "offseason mode" (21:45). Next, Brandon Jacobs joins the podcast (29:00). He answers if he'll be rooting for Tom Brady in the Super Bowl, the challenges of advancing as a Wild Card team and his thoughts on the recent resurgence from Leonard Fournette. Brandon is a big man and comments on the disadvantages of playing running back at over 6'4. He also shares his high school and college journey from JUCO to backing up Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams to Southern Illinois. Jacobs shares what it was like taking over the starting role for the Giants after Tiki Barber retired and the confidence the team felt facing the Patriots in Super Bowl 42. Does David Tyree have the best Super Bowl catch of all time? Well, not if BMac has his say about a personal Steelers memory. Brandon is certain that Eli Manning is a no-brainer Hall of Famer, but isn't so sure of Saquon Barkley's future in New York. Finally, we hit our Superlative and hear who is the best backfield in NFL history.  'All Things Covered' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox and wherever else you listen to podcasts.  You can listen to All Things Covered on your smart speakers! Steve Smith Sr. recalls path to pros, Super Bowl trip with Panthers, playing vs. Pat & study habits
6157
This week we welcome one of the toughest competitors the NFL has seen, Steve Smith Sr. (40:00). Steve shares his battles vs Pat, advice for those following the JUCO route and thoughts on Lamar Jackson and one of his former teams, the Ravens. But first, hosts Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden chop it up on influential figures in their football lives (1:20). Next, it's time to revisit the NFL Divisional Round (8:00). There has been an outcry towards the touchback rule that was on display in Browns vs. Chiefs, but our DBs don't mind the rule at all. You have to give defenses something! The guys also discuss what was like Drew Brees final game with the Saints plus Davante Adams vs. Jalen Ramsey. P2 and BMac look ahead to the conference championship matchups and then focus on Deshaun Watson and the possibility the Texans star QB is traded this offseason (30:00). Next we add a member to our team as 16-year pro Steve Smith Sr. joins All Things Covered (40:00). Steve breaks down the mutual respect he and Pat shared on the field and how we was able to motivate himself during games and in the offseason. He was a student of the game and breaks down some of his study habits before exploring the Los Angeles football scene, his time at Santa Monica Junior College and transfer to Utah. The Panthers Hall of Honor member remembers the team's Super Bowl run in 2003 and his stellar 2005 season. Then, the current NFL Network analyst and podcast host addresses his transition into media and breaks down the Ravens offense and Lamar Jackson. Of course we have to hit Superlatives as we learn the best QB Steve played with along with his top players under 5'10 in NFL history.  'All Things Covered' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox and wherever else you listen to podcasts.  You can listen to All Things Covered on your smart speakers! Master P reveals his interest in buying Reebok, top New Orleans rappers and how he almost made the NBA
4263
This episode will make you wanna say "uhh." That's right, hip hop legend Master P is our special guest (28:30), as he covers his hip hop career, sports career and entrepreneurial endeavors. But first, hosts Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden link up on what's happening with them and what's happening in the NFL. Pat is now in offseason mode, but what does "offseason mode" look like (1:30)? Next, the guys cover the most interesting storylines from the Wild Card Round (4:45), including the Steelers suffering an early playoff exit, Lamar Jackson winning his first postseason game, and the Rams defense dominating the Seahawks. They also react to the All Pro teams being announced with a focus on the secondary (13:35). Jalen Ramsey, Xavien Howard, Tyrann Mathieu, Budda Baker and Minkah Fitzpatrick represent the defensive backs. Did the voters get it right? Our DBs weigh in. P2 and BMac then lookahead to the Divisional Round (16:20), with an emphasis on top WR-CB matchups like DaVante Adams vs. Jalen Ramsey and Mike Evans vs. Marshon Lattimore. We head to the college ranks as Alabama has won another title (20:15). Ho hum. The real focal point is the brilliant play of Heisman Trophy winner Devonta Smith. Pat thinks he'll have no issues translating to the next level, while BMac compares Smith's game to both Marvin Harrison and DeSean Jackson. High praise! Then, it's time to welcome the icon, Master P (28:30)! The New Orleans native shares his love for the Saints and his love for hoops that nearly became another professional career. He talks about his stints in the NBA and getting into preseason games as well as a pickup game he played against Michael Jordan. And now, he wants to compete against MJ again. But this time in the shoe game. Master P details his interest in buying Reebok and his plans to make Allen Iverson the featured face of the brand. Pick your title for P...He gets to wear the movie producer cap as we ask about his film career, the music producer label as we learn his top 5 artists he signed to No Limit Records, and the role of Dad as we hear about his basketball-playing sons. Master P continues to explain why he never worked much with Young Money and his lack of interest in doing a Verzuz battle. As always, Superlatives signal the end of the conversation, but not before getting his Mount Rushmore of New Orleans rappers and some Tracy McGrady/Vince Carter memories.  'All Things Covered' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox and wherever else you listen to podcasts.  You can listen to All Things Covered on your smart speakers! Ryan Clark shares what made Sean Taylor and Troy Polamalu so special at safety plus Steelers memories
5533
Another week, another LSU Tiger on All Things Covered. Ryan Clark shares the same college as Patrick Peterson and once shared the same dorm room at Steelers Training Camp with Bryant McFadden (34:15). The guys chat about those LSU days, RC playing safety alongside Sean Taylor and Troy Polamalu and the top safeties in the league today. But first, we unfortunately have to recap the unceremonious end to the Arizona Cardinals season (1:30). Pat breaks down how big a blow it was to lose Kyler Murray on the opening drive, the job the defense did vs. backup John Wolford and some questionable calls and no calls surrounding DeAndre Hopkins. P2 then sums up the season as a whole and addresses his future as he is set to become a free agent this offseason. Could Sunday have been his final game in a Cardinals uniform? The guys then tackle news from around the league (19:30), including Doug Pederson's curious and somewhat obvious tanking effort to gift wrap Washington the NFC East. Should players lose respect over that move? We also examine what it's like to go through a coaching change and look ahead to the most dangerous teams in the playoffs. Next, it's time to welcome our guest, Ryan Clark (34:15). Ryan details what led to him signing with the Tigers and then credits Pat for creating the legacy of 'DBU'. RC played for Nick Saban in college and knew 20 years ago that he was destined to become one of the greatest coaches ever. The conversation shifts to Ryan's time in the league and the relationship he formed with Sean Taylor. He believes Taylor could have gone down as one of the greatest safeties of all time. We revisit the torturous 2007 Steelers Training Camp led by Mike Tomlin and a life-changing incident that happened to Ryan in Denver later that season. RC is known for his big hits, but there was none bigger than the one he put on Willis McGahee in the 2008 AFC Championship Game. The memory is foggy due to the play, but BMac clearly remembers. We finish with superlatives and learn the player Ryan wishes he could have laid a hit on and the best player he ever played with!  'All Things Covered' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox and wherever else you listen to podcasts.  Follow Pat on Instagram and Twitter Follow BMac on Instagram and Twitter Produced by: @E_DeBerardinis Visit the All Things Covered YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/allthingscovered For more NFL coverage from CBS Sports, visit https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/ To hear more from the CBS Sports Podcast Network, visit https://www.cbssports.com/podcasts/ Learn more about your ad choices. 4134
It's our biggest guest yet! Literally and figuratively. Shaquille O'Neal joins Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden on All Things Covered to chat about Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, today's NBA and much more (36:30). But first, P2 and BMac chop it up. They recall their fondest memories of college bowl season (1:20), before making picks for the College Football Playoff (6:55). Alabama and Clemson are the favorites, but can they both win and cover? Next, the guys focus on the Arizona Cardinals, who essentially have a Week 17 playoff game. Pat breaks down the opportunity of a win-and-you're-in game and looks ahead to the Rams matchup (10:45) LA will be missing Jared Goff and starting John Wolford for the first time, which could present a unique set of challenges. He also updates us on the status of Kyler Murray and his readiness for this Sunday. Our hosts turn their attention to what's happening around the league with a focus on Dwayne Haskins (20:30). On a related note, Booger McFarland made some controversial comments about Black athletes pursuing their brand over on-field performance and that didn't sit well with BMac. After the serious stuff, we welcome the legendary and hilarious Shaquille O'Neal to All Things Covered (36:30). Shaq shares how difficult 2020 was and insight on his relationship with Kobe Bryant. The Diesel also details what he's like as a "sports dad" with his son Shareef currently playing at LSU. The Big Aristotle remembers linking up with Phil Jackson and the promises the Zen Master made to get him to the next level. Superman then talks about the King's quest to pass Kareem in all-time points scored and match Michael Jordan in titles, letting us in on LeBron's mindset. Shaq Fu goes on to cover his role in the media, the state of big men in today's NBA and the ongoing James Harden saga. As we always do, we end with Superlatives and get to hear O'Neal's Top 5 Lakers ever and more! 2860
On this special episode, Bryant McFadden welcomes Georgia head coach Kirby Smart to discuss his career, the Bulldogs and the state of college football. And these two go way back! Smart picked up BMac at the airport on his official visit to UGA in December of 1999 and 21 years later, they chop it up on All Things Covered. Kirby details how challenging 2020 was (3:30) and what to expect in Friday's Peach Bowl vs. Cincinnati (6:00). He also shares his thoughts on the College Football Playoff and which teams deserved to make the field this year (7:15). Justin Fields is in the playoff but used to be at UGA, as we hear a reason that may have pushed him to the transfer portal (11:00). Kirby also discloses his Heisman Trophy pick, and it's someone Georgia fans are unfortunately very familiar with (13:15). The conversation then shifts to an interesting career path (16:30) that included stops at Florida State as a GA, where he encountered BMac once again, linking up with Nick Saban at LSU, then following him to the Dolphins and Alabama and finally getting his chance to be a head coach at his alma mater. LaVar Ball expresses desire for sons to play on the same team, how LaMelo is so NBA ready and why he'd beat Michael Jordan 1-on-1
4908
On a show that features big ballers on a weekly basis, it's only right that we welcome THE Big Baller himself, LaVar Ball (42:00). LaVar brings the passion as he always does, discussing his three sons, their basketball journeys and much more. But first, our ballers, Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden, talk what's trending. P2 posted a flashy pregame fit on Instagram this week, so we had to discuss fashion during our 'Choppin It Up' segment (1:15). You'll get insight on how decisions are made before you see your favorite players enter (and exit) the stadium on gameday. Next, it's time to check in with the Cardinals who won again on Sunday (8:00). Pat breaks down the victory over the Eagles, what caused him to be so animated during the game and what Philly might have found in quarterback Jalen Hurts. He also looks ahead to the Week 16 matchup vs. the 49ers and reacts to Arizona's Pro Bowl selections. Then, we head around the league and cover the shocking news that the Jets finally won (21:15)! Also, Tyreek Hill was spotted drinking pickle juice on the sideline this past week which caused a buzz on the internet (26:00). Pat and BMac share some of their in-game remedies that you'd probably never guess. Jerry Rice or Randy Moss (30:00)? That debate was recently sparked up again as our corners tell us their WR GOAT. And with the NBA season set to begin, the guys give their preseason predictions that we'll be sure to check in on at a later date (36:15). The focus stays on basketball as LaVar Ball joins All Things Covered (42:00). LaVar is confident that LaMelo will be the best of his three sons and explains exactly why. He also makes it clear that he wants all of his kids to play on the same team again like they did in high school, with the Charlotte Hornets as the destination that makes the most sense. LaVar comments on why LiAngelo's time with the Pistons was cut short, Lonzo's ability to make everyone around him better and the status of Big Baller Brand. You know it wouldn't be a chat with LaVar without him calling out Michael Jordan. Our guest is not backing down from that 1-on-1 proposal with MJ and remains confident in his ability to win. Antonio Cromartie, who played in the pros with Pat in Arizona and in college with BMac at Florida State, joins All Things Covered for a lengthy conversation in which nothing is held back (31:15)! Then, we take a look at what's trending around the league (27:15) including a hard-to-believe defensive play call that allowed the Raiders to win and the Jets to remain winless. What would our defensive backs have done if they were on the field and got that call? Plus, Brian Flores continues to earn respect from the Dolphins and around the league. The wait for OBJ is over as Pat and BMac welcome another former LSU Tiger to the podcast (36:30). Chanel West Coast on success of Ridiculousness, Kobe Bryant episode and her music career
1334
We're back with another bonus episode this week and another very special guest, specifically for Pat. He has mentioned before on the pod that his favorite show is Ridiculousness, so we felt it was only right to welcome on Chanel West Coast. Chanel discusses that famous laugh of hers and details her music career before diving into her TV career. Chanel has a new album out (which you can stream anywhere!) and one song even has a football-focused title. She shares about shedding perceptions as a white rapper, her relationship with Lil Wayne and Young Money and how she balances parallel careers in the entertainment world. Then it's P2's time to shine as the focus turns to a show he watches constantly. Chanel covers what makes Ridiculousness so popular among so many groups of people and talks about how special it was to have Kobe Bryant on an episode before his passing. All that and much more on this bonus episode of All Things Covered! Brandon Marshall on post-football purpose, best WRs in football, relationship with Jay Cutler
4924
On the latest episode of All Things Covered, we welcome a guest that has been just as active after football as he was during his playing days. Brandon Marshall is all over right now, so we were lucky enough to chat with him about everything from mental health to the best wide receivers in the game in 2020. But before our chat with Brandon, Patrick and Bryant cover a ton as well. The election has dominated the news cycle and the results offer an important message for our hosts to be able to share with their kids (1:00). The Cardinals suffered a difficult defeat to the Dolphins on Sunday, as Pat breaks down some of Tua's success while also looking ahead to this week's matchup vs. the Bills (4:00). How much longer does P2 have left in the league? He answers that and also dissects what's happening in the NFL at the moment (22:30) including JJ Watt possibly seeking a trade, Golden Tate being benched by the Giants and (former ATC guest) JuJu Smith-Schuster being denied a touchdown celebration. It's rivalry week as Pat remembers his favorite LSU-Alabama moment (30:45). It's also Masters Week so we had to give our official picks. Then, we turn our attention to our guest (39:15). Brandon Marshall is a 13-year NFL vet but he's also the founder of House of Athlete, a co-host on the I Am Athlete podcast, a co-host on First Things First on FS1 and an analyst on Inside the NFL. We cover it all, and he literally does it all. Pat and BMac's conversation with Brandon centers around post-football purpose and why there can still be great things to achieve after the glory days have ended. The guys discuss the heavy emphasis Brandon places on mental health for not only athletes, but the general public. Then, they get into that impressive 13-year playing career, breaking down Brandon's brief time playing safety in college, his relationship with former QB Jay Cutler, his record-setting 21-catch single game performance in 2009, the best WRs in the NFL today and the budding Mike Evans vs. Marshon Lattimore rivalry. Jon Rahm on 2020 Masters, Tiger Woods, 66-foot putt to win BMW Championship & showing emotions in golf
4186
The Masters is less than two weeks away, so it's only right we welcome our first golf guest and one of the best in the world right now, Jon Rahm (39:30). But before Rahmbo joins the podcast, Patrick and Bryant do their thing. We know a good amount about our hosts from their college and pro days, but on this episode, the guys take you back to high school and share some of their best recruiting stories. Then, we check in on the Cardinals coming off their bye week. The team announced two players had tested positive for COVID-19, so what further precautions are being taken? Pat answers that as well as discussing his relationship with head coach Kliff Kingsbury and what the mood is like around the trade deadline. Also, we have to preview the Dolphins game and the matchup with Tua Tagovailoa, who will be making his 2nd career NFL start. Next, Pat and BMac take a look around the league focusing on a strange fight in the Bears-Saints game, the Steelers remaining unbeaten and Dez Bryant getting signed to the Ravens practice squad. Then it's time to welcome Jon Rahm. Jon details his excitement for the Masters, who he expects to contend with and if Tiger Woods has a shot to defend his 2019 victory. We can't forget about that epic 66-foot putt to win the BMW Championship in a playoff back in August! Pat and BMac also get a better understanding of Jon's journey from a small town in Spain to Arizona State to the #1 golfer in the world. Rahmbo shares how he gained a better understanding of the English language and it's probably not what you think! Jon is known for his fiery attitude on the course, but why is that accepted in other sports but frowned upon in golf? Don't miss this wide-ranging episode! DeAndre Hopkins on split with Texans, relationship with Kyler Murray, Cardinals win over Seahawks & NFL's social justice efforts
4492
Fresh off a thrilling Sunday Night Football victory over the Seahawks, Patrick Peterson catches up with Bryant McFadden for Episode 6 of All Things Covered. And not only do we have Pat talking about that epic game, we have his new teammate, DeAndre Hopkins, to join the conversation as well. That comes a little later, but first, what music gets our hosts fired up when it's almost game time (1:00)? Next, where do we even start with Week 7 (4:30)...The end seems like a good spot, as the guys analyze overtime including Kliff Kingsbury's questionable decision to kick on 2nd down plus a huge play from rookie Isaiah Simmons, that P2 just so happened to predict pregame. The viral moment of the night and maybe the year belonged to DK Metcalf chasing down Budda Baker. What was running through Pat's mind as he was trailing the play? And does Budda deserve some slack? Pat locked down Metcalf and recorded another interception, but due to a few beautiful throws and catches from Russell Wilson and Tyler Lockett, it wasn't a perfect night. Hey, it happens to the game's greatest, so stop hating over a play or two. We get an informed breakdown of some more notable moments as well as how this bye week will look different than others. BMac and Pat then cover what else is happening around the NFL (27:00), including a season-ending injury for Odell Beckham Jr, Antonio Brown signing with the Bucs, anonymous Cowboys players calling out their coaches and some questionable criticism of Cam Newton delivered by former QB Jeff Garcia. Then, Nuk Hopkins joins the program (42:30). The guys have a wide-ranging conversation focusing on everything from his dominant days as a defensive back in high school, the NFL's social justice initiatives, his relationship (or lack thereof) with Bill O'Brien and budding relationship with Kyler Murray. DeAndre shares stories from growing up in South Carolina to attending Clemson to Houston and finally Arizona. Don't miss this episode! J.R. Smith on Lakers Bubble title, LeBron's leadership, future for Anthony Davis, favorite pair of Kobe's
4135
This is not just a football podcast! On Episode 5, we're truly living up to the name 'All Things Covered'. We hit our normal check-ins with Patrick Peterson and the Arizona Cardinals (10:15) and the rest of the NFL (22:30), but also catch up with newly crowned (for the second time) NBA champion J.R. Smith of the Los Angeles Lakers for a wide-ranging conversation (34:00). Hey, athletes aren't perfect. To open the pod, Pat and BMac admit to some mistakes they made early in their careers. There weren't many mistakes from the Cardinals on Monday Night Football, as P2 details the dominant effort vs. the Cowboys which included plenty of celebrating and a breakout performance from Budda Baker. Next up is a daunting matchup with the Seattle Seahawks. Pat shares what makes 2nd-year wide receiver D.K. Metcalf such a difficult cover plus where Russell Wilson ranks among the league's best quarterbacks. The guys also chat about the Dolphins surprising decision to name Tua Tagovailoa their starting QB, plus Le'Veon Bell's fit with the Chiefs. Then, the champ is here! J.R. Smith won a title in the bubble just over a week ago and now joins us to reflect on the Lakers run and his unique role with the team. Did he show up wearing a shirt? Well, you might have to head over to our YouTube channel for that answer. J.R. explains what makes LeBron James such an incredible teammate and how much he puts into his body and his game. All things are covered from Anthony Davis' future with the team, Kyrie Irving's recent comments, leaving Quinn Cook behind and much, much more. Mike Tomlin on Big Ben's future, Steelers' WR success, lack of minority coaches in the NFL
2427
Episode 4 of All Things Covered has arrived and it's a special one. Not only did Pat's and Bryant's Lakers capture the NBA title on Sunday (1:00)...Not only did the Cardinals take care of business against the Jets (5:35)...But we also got to have a conversation that doesn't happen very often. The guys are joined by BMac's former head coach, Mike Tomlin, of the currently 4-0 Pittsburgh Steelers (16:30). Before we get to Coach T, there's some catching up to do. P2 was traveling from the East Coast to the West Coast so he didn't get to see a second of Game 6, but obviously got good news once he landed. Are our co-hosts genuine fans or just part of the recent bandwagon? Then it's Cardinals Check-In as we discuss the false positive COVID-19 test that threatened Sunday's game, DeAndre Hopkins continuing to ball out and Chandler Jones' unfortunate injury. Next up is the Cowboys on Monday Night Football. Dak Prescott's injury was devastating to watch and definitely changes the game plan for Arizona heading into their primetime matchup. The new goal: make Andy Dalton beat you. After the break, Mike Tomlin hops on for a wide-ranging conversation on the Steelers' strong start, having Ben Roethlisberger back and how Pittsburgh keeps finding wide receiver gems. Tomlin has been around a lot of great defensive players during his career, but who are the very best? He also has some of the best quotes in the business, as we explore famous Tomlinisms as BMac likes to call them. The focus then shifts to minority coaches in the NFL, addressing changes that need to be made. It's a comfortable version of Coach you don't often get to see or hear, so don't miss it! COVID-19 impacts the NFL, Earl Thomas can't find a job and Bill O'Brien is out of one
3266
We're back for the 3rd episode of All Things Covered. Co-hosts Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden first chop it up regarding jersey swaps in the NFL and memorabilia collections (1:30). How do those jersey swaps you often see (but not this year) come about? And is the criticism that follows fair? We check in on the Cardinals, who just dropped their second straight game after opening the season 2-0 (12:30). Pat gives an in-depth breakdown on his first interception of the season and answers why we haven't seen 8th overall pick Isaiah Simmons on the field very often before looking ahead to their Week 5 matchup vs. the Jets. P2 and BMac then go around the league (27:35), discussing how COVID-19 has impacted things in the past week while also addressing Bill O'Brien's firing on Monday and Earl Thomas being unable to find a new home. The Lakers dropped Game 3 on Sunday, but the guys remain confident (39:30). Now, the NBA has done a good job promoting racial equality and exercising your right to vote---how is the NFL following suit? Lastly, it's '21 Questions' as Pat describes the difficulty in defending Julio Jones (48:30). JuJu Smith-Schuster on future with Steelers, friendship with Sam Darnold and playing for Snoop Dogg
4442
We're back for the 2nd episode of All Things Covered. This week, co-hosts Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden cover the Cardinals 1st loss of 2020 and COVID-19 protocols around the league before welcoming Steelers and social media star, JuJu Smith-Schuster. Before all that the guys chop it up about their favorite TV shows and certain personalities within those shows. The Cardinals suffered their first loss of 2020 and as P2 says (with credit to Bruce Arians) "good teams don't lose twice". Arizona matches up with the Panthers next as Pat breaks down what to expect from the likes of DJ Moore and Robby Anderson and how they differ from the problems the Lions presented. AJ Terrell of the Falcons became the 1st player to land on the reserve/COVID-19 list during the season, so how are veterans sending a message to the younger players on their teams? And what type of testing does Pat go through on a daily basis? The guys are thrilled the Lakers are in the NBA Finals but will a 'Bubble Title' hold the same meaning? P2 then explains the reasoning behind #RevengeSZN. It's always good to take a trip down 'Memory Lane' as BMac revisits an epic night on the eve of Super Bowl 43. We dive deeper into Pat's golf hobby within our '21 Questions' segment. Next, it's time to bring on special guest JuJu Smith-Schuster of the Steelers. Big Ben is back and Pittsburgh is 3-0 which has JuJu and Steeler Nation happy. The 4th-year pro talks everything from playing for Coach Snoop Dogg in youth football, the elite level of talent at his high school and nearly playing safety at USC. He also touches on his contract situation, social media approach and interest in the gaming world. What was the best game of his career? Our conversation with JuJU ends on Superlatives like "Best Touchdown Celebration of All Time" and "Toughest CB Matchup". The answers may surprise you! Tyrann Mathieu on LSU Days, Patrick Mahomes' greatness, Chiefs' title defense
4553
Week 2 just wrapped up in the NFL but it's Week 1 for the All Things Covered podcast. On this debut episode, co-hosts Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden catch up on the Cardinals season (8:30), injuries around the league and their beloved Lakers before welcoming a very special guest and former teammate of Pat's, Tyrann Mathieu (36:30). First, meet your hosts beyond the football field. Now that that's settled, the Cardinals are off to a 2-0 start and Kyler Murray is firmly in the MVP discussion. How is P2 and the squad feeling? Plus, let's address it now...Pat's in a contract year and with lots of recent DB deals, there's speculation about his future in the desert. What's his mentality this season? The guys discuss the injuries that were suffered around the league before jumping outside of football into the world of basketball and golf. For this week's 'Memory Lane' segment we revisit the famous moment where Pat struck the Heisman pose in the endzone while at LSU. '21 Questions' features a prompt about which wide receivers he wishes he had the chance to match up against. Then it's time for Honey Badger. Pat and Tyrann go back a long ways and explain their relationship from their time at LSU to Arizona to now. Who's the real DBU? After talking to these guys, it seems like there's no room for debate. The Chiefs are also 2-0, after barely clinging onto an overtime victory vs. the Chargers this past weekend. But can you ever doubt a comeback when you have Patrick Mahomes on your side? Tyrann continues on to discuss Kansas City's title defense and upcoming Monday Night Football matchup vs. Lamar Jackson and the Ravens. He shares the best games of his career before answering Superlatives with us. Introducing 'All Things Covered with Patrick Peterson & Bryant McFadden'
121
1st episode will be released Tuesday, September 22! Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden have made a living for their coverage skills on the football field, and while it's a different technique, they're now applying those traits on their new podcast 'All Things Covered'. Instead of wide receivers, tight ends and running backs, they'll be covering sports, entertainment, social issues, personal interests and more. Every Tuesday, the 8-time Pro Bowler Peterson and 2-time Super Bowl champion McFadden will discuss what's happening on the gridiron as well as what intrigues them off the field. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
