This week, Jack talks to a truly inspiring person who will soon be attempting an incredible feat: rowing across the Atlantic Ocean alone and unsupported. The trip from New York to the U.K.— 2,710 nautical miles— will take months. But for former Royal Marine Dave ‘Dinger’ Bell, the mission is greater than just the row: He’s raising money for some incredible causes.  Sponsored by the marine safety brand Crewsaver, the journey is expected to take up to four months on the open ocean. Dinger is also using the event to raise money and awareness for some incredible causes: The Special Boat Service Association, which supports former SBS servicemembers and their families, Rock2Recovery, which supports British veterans and Bravery.org.uk, an organization founded by a former member of the U.K. Special Forces (SBS) that supports charities for underprivileged children and discharged members of the Armed Forces. Tim Abell: Army Ranger, Hollywood Actor and Patriot
This week, Jack is joined by Hollywood actor, TV show host and former Army Ranger Tim Abell.  Tim joined the military at the age of 17, eventually becoming US Army Ranger with the 75th Ranger Regiment. His five years of military service included time with the 3rd US Infantry "The Old Guard" Caisson Platoon.  After the Army, Tim went on to start acting and producing.  Tim’s breakout role came as Marine Scout Sniper Benny Ray Riddle in the Jerry Bruckheimer television series Soldier of Fortune, Inc. He’s starred alongside James Caan and Daniel Stern in Dead Simple, appeared with Mel Gibson in the war film We Were Soldiers, and has been featured in TV shows including CSI Miami, NCIS, and JAG among others. He was also the host of the long-running Outdoor Channel hunting series, Grateful Nation. Tim co-produced the award-winning film Soldier of God and served as an associate producer on the film Miracle at Sage Creek, in which he also starred. Andy Stumpf: Former SEAL and ‘Cleared Hot’ Host
On today’s show, Jack sits down with fellow retired SEAL and Cleared Hot podcast host Andy Stumpf. Andy Stumpf spent 17 years serving in the United States military, first enlisting while still in high school in 1996. After two deployments with SEAL Team Five he was selected for an east coast based SEAL Team. After being shot during a combat deployment, Andy returned to the Naval Special Warfare Center in 2006 as the leading Petty Officer for 2nd Phase, the diving phase of BUD/S. Two years later, Andy became the first E-6 commissioned through the Limited Duty Officer program in the history of NSW. Fred Burton: Protective Security Specialist, Author and Former DSS Special Agent
On this episode of Danger Close, Jack sits down with former police officer, Diplomatic Security Service special agent, author, and security consultant Fred Burton. Throughout his career, Fred served as a key figure in some of the most notable investigations in modern law enforcement history. He was on the frontlines of the search for and the arrest of terrorist Ramzi Yousef, the mastermind behind the first World Trade Center bombing. He served in the investigation of the 1988 plane crash that resulted in the death of the U.S. Ambassador Arnold Raphel and Pakistani President Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq. Fred also played a critical role in the search for the Americans kidnapped by Hezbollah in Beirut, Lebanon, as well as many other high-profile cases.  Today, Fred is a New York Times bestselling author and a consultant to Fortune 500 companies on security-related issues as the Executive Director of the Ontic Center for Protective Intelligence. Thunder Ranch Founder Clint Smith on Serving in Vietnam
This week on Danger Close, Jack interviews a legendary figure in the tactical training community: Thunder Ranch founder Clint Smith.   Clint is the President and Director of Thunder Ranch, a 900-acre ranch in Southern Oregon that is one the world’s most acclaimed firearm training facilities. For nearly 20 years, he’s operated Thunder Ranch with his wife Heidi.   Clint is a Marine Corps veteran, who served two infantry and Combined Action Platoon tours in Vietnam.
