Growing up as an Afro-Latina in the US with immigrant parents, Michelle struggled to decide which parts of her parent's traditions and identity traits she would adapt to navigate living a bi-coastal life in the US. Along the way she met friends who helped shape who she would become and ultimately lead her to her path of receiving her Masters in Social Work in NYC, where she currently resides.
