One of my favorite topics: Boundaries. Boundaries help you filter out what’s draining you of your precious time and energy so you can take care of what you need to in your life and biz including your health!

As a concept, this was foreign to me for a long time. I see and hear from women and clients that they struggle with boundaries in different areas, too. You aren’t alone!

In this intro to boundaries chat, I share:

  • Why boundaries are so useful for reclaiming your time and energy!
  • How the nervous system, brain and past experience play a role in how we feel about setting boundaries
  • What I believe plays a huge role in women feeling uncomfortable with boundaries (i.e. being brought up as people pleasers)
  • The “I got that” push through mentality that keeps many women exhausted
  • How to assess where you could set boundaries + questions to journal on and let simmer
  • Examples of how to implement your boundaries

Time to crush your goals! Paige Mitchell joins me for an insightful conversation about setting goals and how a coach can help you explore what steps to take to achieve your goals.

Paige’s story is a great example of coming full circle. She knew early on that she wanted to create an impact in other’s lives, but when motivational speaker wasn’t a major in college she went for psychology. She eventually transitioned from a career in counseling to life coaching in 2020 and has a genuine passion for helping ambitious individuals achieve their dreams of impact. 

She provides a look at what a life coach is and how coaching can help provide that outside bird’s eye view perspective and guidance.

Then we chat about the term “vague goals”. What are vague goals? How can we avoid setting them and get really clear about what it is we want to accomplish? Tune in. She gives you some great takeaways. 

She also share two tips for helping you overcome overwhelm when it comes to big goals and self talk. 

I also get Paige to share about her passions outside of coaching! It’s important to have an outlet even when you love your career.

We are talking big shift energy and trusting your gut & body in episode 14 of Crushing with Abby O. 

After a mini existential crisis and slap in the face of clarity, I realized this shift was happening and I’d better get on board or get left behind. Along with this was the realization that my intuition was right all along. I had ignored it, yet again, only to find myself in a familiar space and more than a little annoyed.

When this has happened before, I’ve spiraled down into a cloud of shame and depression. I’ve felt like a total failure and really dumb for my mistakes.

Enrico “be a fucking shark” Incarnati, photographer and videographer, joins me in this episode for a discussion about imposter syndrome. He shares his personal story of navigating the expectations of his parents and an identity shift that left him deeply anxious and depressed. Eventually, the identity loss and shift led to him finding a passion and career in videography that has allowed him to work with fitness pro’s such as Jordan Syatt, Zach Rocheleau and Jason Phillips plus many more.

We dive into getting comfortable in the uncomfortable, taking messy action, and how Rico snaps himself (literally) out of the comparison spiral. He also shares what helps him stay grounded amidst travel, work, mentoring and creating.

Rico’s own motto is “Be a fucking shark”. He explains why and what this means to him and how you, too, can be a fucking shark everyday.

We take a moment to reflect and chuckle about the great Instagram and Facebook outage of October 2021 when this episode was recorded. I also expose him to the late 80’s, early 90’s tech of the Walkman.

She shares her story and the effects of a low calorie diet coupled with high intensity training days (spoiler alert: she lost her period). And she wasn’t alone. Jenn dove into educating herself on women’s hormones, cycles and how we can actually use food and exercise to help mitigate and manage our cycle and symptoms. 

We dive into a chat about birth control and how it affects your cycle, advocating for your health, why and when you should consider syncing your nutrition and training to your cycle and why, oh why, we crave chocolate around our period. 

Jenn and I discuss why we think, as women, we know so little about our bodies (we get a little fired up) and how sex education could be more useful in school.

Jenn Marker is the creator of the Body Rebuild Blueprint, a cycle connection program for women. This training, nutrition and hormone support program is designed to help women lose weight and gain strength without restrictive diets or excessive cardio by syncing it all to a woman’s unique monthly cycle.
She has been a personal trainer since 2010, is a Crossfit L-1 coach, as well as a hormone, mindset and neurotype specialist.

In the summer of 2020, eczema began to spread across my face. My cheeks and forehead were so terribly itchy I would cry because I knew I couldn’t scratch my face off like I wanted. I also knew the issue was deeper than just a topical cream or special face product. That’s when I hired a coach and dove into healing my own gut and body. When I met our guest, she was going through an elimination diet herself and had been struggling with various gut related issues. This also drove her passion for furthering her education as a coach so she can help other women struggling with similar issues.

Justine Benzinger joins me today to share about her own journey in health and how the pandemic pushed her in a new direction career wise. We talk about the struggles of dealing with gut issues and how it goes beyond any aesthetic goal. We discuss why gut health and getting to the root cause is so important. 

She shares the signs and symptoms you can look for to know if healing your gut is a step you need to take. Justine also provides practical tips you can utilize today to help improve your digestive health!

It’s spooky season! What a perfect time to share bad tales from first dates! The cringey. The awkward. The terrible.

First up, I share the tale of my very first online date ever (first post divorce date, too!) where my date was a bit of a mystery man with a penchant for tall tales and porsches. Yes, I did take a ride in the porsche.

Then I invite my friend and fan of the podcast, Tracy, to share some juicy and awkward first date tales of hers. I think I say “what the fuck” at least a dozen times. And what’s with all the awkward ice cream dates we are having?? Thank you for coming on to share, Tracy!

Next up is not one but two tales of cringey dates I went on with lawyers. From first date to stage five clinger and the tale of the terrible threesome, you’ll understand why I’ve sworn off dating lawyers ever again.

And finally, in a bonus almost-first-date tale that shows how creepy some peeps can be...I play the infamous text video message I received from a Bumble match less than 48 hours after we started chatting. Talk about a narrow escape. Yikes.

I hope you’re able to sleep after all these terrible first date tales, but mostly I hope you get a BIG laugh because that’s really all you can do.

In this first episode, I want to share a bit about myself and what this podcast is inspired by.

I'm a nutrition and fitness coach on a mission to help women step up and into their own incredible power through health coaching, and truly understand that self-care is healthcare.

Over the years, I've learned so much in my own journey about myself, about the woman that I want to be, and about taking care of the mind, the heart, the body, the spirit. Now, through this podcast, I want to share this knowledge and these musings with you. No BS. Only real and practical information for you.

As you all know, dating is one big adventure and as a result I have a lot of stories about conversations on dating apps and dating in real life. Both odd and amusing! After all, having a good laugh is an important part of self-care too. 

While some stories are just plain funny, there are plenty of lessons and learnings throughout these experiences. You know.. boundaries, trusting yourself, knowing your worth, not losing yourself and remembering who the fuck you are.

Together you and I, we will crush life goals and maybe a weirdo or two online.
