The Jrue Holiday Trade (Ricky Rebroadcast)

June 29, 2013 - This is a rebroadcast of the very first podcast Spike and Mike ever did together. It was recorded just after Sam Hinkie's first draft as Sixers GM, when he traded Jrue Holiday for Nerlens Noel and a second first round pick. Two weeks later, Spike and Mike would record the first ever "Rights To Ricky Sanchez."

The podcast is on a two-week vacation. We'll be back stronger than ever?

Spurned By The King, Lebron James Chooses The Lakers Over The Sixers

Emergency pod! After a 48 hour frenzy that made it seem like the Sixers might get LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard, that particular dream ended tonight as James signed a four-year deal with the Lakers. Spike and Mike talk about the ramifications and Spike sort of lays into James.

As well, there's a before and after podcast (before LeBron signed and after) with Mike and his Lakers fan girlfriend Alyssa that is at the end of this pod.

NBA, Sixers Free Agency Day Preview

At midnight on Friday, the NBA Free Agency period will officially begin (sort of, you still can't sign anyone but they can talk and everyone will announce deals). We go through the available free agents and talk about the likelihood of them becoming Sixers, as well as the possible destinations for LeBron James. We discuss the strong reaction to Mike's CJ McCollum trade, and talk to Andrew Unterberger about his article about the Sixers doing nothing, and the five-year anniversary of The Ricky.

Also, we banned someone from the pod.

Kawhi Leonard Trade Rumors, Free Agency and Fultz Videos

Spike's fault.

Sixers Draft Recap: Sixers Pick Up Zhaire Smith, Landry Shamet, Shake Milton and Picks

The Sixers surprised us all by doing what everyone expected, picking Mikal Bridges. Then they did what not of us expected by trading Bridges to Phoenix for Zhaire Smith and a 2021 Miami Heat first round pick.

Then there was some trading, some picking, some more trading and then a little more picking. We recap the night!

Jun 22, 2018
The State Of The Sixers Heading Into The Draft With John Gonzalez

Mike and guest host John Gonzalez talk about the state of the Sixers going into the draft, including why and how they still don't have a general manager. The huge question mark of Markelle Fultz is one that the Sixers must have some clarity on before they make their pick on Thursday. They weigh the pros and cons of moving up, and potentially taking on the Chandler Parsons contract, as well as LeBron/Kawhi/Paul George dreaming. Also, BurnerGate gets revisited and of course some Hinkie talk.

Kawhi Leonard Rumors and The Ringer's Danny Chau Talks NBA Draft

Finally... Danny Chau is on the Ricky. The guy who wrote about Farewell Evan on Grantland when he was just an intern, and then became a valued member of the now disbanded Retweet Armageddon Congress, draft lover, Ringer employee and food guy Danny Chau joins us to talk about the upcoming NBA Draft and his adjacent relationship to Sixers fandom. We also discuss the new rumors about Kawhi Leonard and whether the Sixers can trade for him.

Make sure to check out our other draft content, including our Big Board Podcast and our talk with NBA scout Elan Vinokurov.

NBA Draft Big Board, YouTube Big Board, General Manager Big Board, and Colangelo Eulogy

Now that Collargate has subsided, the Ricky is in true offseason form. Mike reveals his NBA Draft Big Board, Spike reveals his YouTube Big Board, they both reveal the first drafts of their Sixers General Manager Big Boards, and Andrew Unterberger of If Not, Pick Will Convey As Two Second Rounders, bids a final farewell to Bryan Colangelo. Also, Spike gives his newest take that he's been 'workshopping,' this time about an NBA broadcaster.

Jun 09, 2018
Beat It, Bryan! Ownership Does The Right Thing, Sixers Fans Help Unseat Colangelo

It took long enough, but all's well that ends well. Bryan Colangelo resigned from his position as President and General Manager of the Sixers after an 'investigation' proved that his wife tweeted team secrets on several different Twitter accounts. Colangelo continues to deny he knew anything about the accounts. Weird! This one's a victory lap.

Jun 07, 2018
Sixers Refuse To Do The Obvious, The Colangelo Controversy Is Ruining The Offseason

Somehow we're in the ninth day of this, and the only people who don't know that the right move is to move on from Bryan Colangelo is the Sixers themselves. We try to keep our sanity, discuss what could be causing the delay, and decide what happens if they don't fire him.

Jun 07, 2018
The Burner Controversy Continues, Find A New Slant

We are in the fifth day of the Bryan Colangelo Twitter fiasco, with no communication from the team. We discuss how we think the situation should and will progress, the guy in San Francisco with the t-shirts, the reports and speculation, and The Americans finale.

We've got a new shirt. This is self explanatory. Always go FULL DETRICK. Get it here.

We'd like to be clear that this was our (Spike's) idea, and Tanner Lowry's design, and Ben Detrick did not have anything to do with its creation or promotion.

We told Ben about it, and of course he thinks it's hilarious.

Jun 02, 2018
Bryan Colangelo's Twitter Burner Accounts

At one time, long, long ago, the Markelle Fultz story was the weirdest one in the history of the Sixers. Not anymore! Thanks to Ben Detrick and The Ringer, Bryan Colangelo's (supposed) burner Twitter accounts is definitely the weirdest. This might be our post anticipated podcast of all time.

May 30, 2018
Hinkie Speaks, Redick Speaks, Embiid Dunks On Some Guy

Today's podcast is admittedly pretty meta! We discuss Sam Hinkie's appearance on the Invest Like The Best podcast, including his long view approach to marriage and asset management approach to children, JJ Redick's appearance on a Ringer podcast of a banned personality, Joel Embiid's appearance on a Philadelphia playground to dunk on a regular guy as well as his appearance on the All-NBA Second Team. We also discuss Run The Jewels' decision to favor the Ricky over the Super Bowl.

Thanks to local singer Felicia Ricci, who recorded the video of Embiid dunking on some guy, for coming on and telling us about seeing it and her run-in with Meek Mill while getting a manicure.

We announced on the podcast that this year's Lottery Party raised $18,100 for Justice Rescueand the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Thanks for your part in this!

We also include Eliza Hardy Jones' "Imagine The Process."

The 2018 Lottery Party Featuring Robert Covington, Pablo Torre, Amos Lee and Mike Weber

Look, is this the most coherent, technically sound Ricky you're ever going to hear? The answer is no. There's a lot of yelling and craziness but it's fun to relive if you went, and to hear and actual wedding take place on our podcast. And the guest lineup is pretty crazy, it's like we're a big deal! Finally, listen for no other reason than to hear the ovation Robert Covington got, Spike being a jerk about not being able to hear himself and Mike's Jason Kelce speech.

Lottery Party t-shirts on sale until 8pm Wednesday.

Good: Lottery Party Preview

The 2018 Rights To Ricky Sanchez Lottery Party is almost upon us! On this mini-bonus pod we run down some important details, give you some tips and instructions, and basically wonder why this is all happening.

Disclaimer: sorry the sound quality is a little less than normal, Spike deleted it the first time we did it so we had to go old school.

See you at the party!

Keep Ya Head Up: Season In Review, Pivot To Offseason, The Ricky Awards

The 2017-18 Sixers exceeded the expectations of anyone who isn't a maniac or perhaps a parent of one of the players. We go back and talk about the things and players that surprised and disappointed us most. We hand out the annual Ricky Awards as well; everyone is eagerly anticipating who will win TJ McConnell of The Year. And we pivot to the offseason, as If Not, Pick Will Convey As Two Seconds writer and star Andrew Unterberger joins us to discuss his piece about this summer being the best ever.

The Lottery Party is TUESDAY, Robert Covington WILL be attending, Pablo Torre WILL be marrying Lauren and Zeke, and the event IS sold out, and we'll be releasing a podcast on Monday about the party.

May 12, 2018
Over Now: Sixers Season Ends In Gave Five Loss To Celtics

Now we remember what it's like to lose. The Sixers looked like they might get blown out as the first half ended, but they TJd, Joel'd and Dario'd their way back into the game. It wasn't enough and the first Process Playoff run ended. We talked about what went wrong and right in the series.

We'll do a season in review this weekend, and see you at the Lottery Party.

May 10, 2018
Alive: TJ McConnell Leads Sixers Away From Elimination

The Sixers' backs were up against the wall, so they called a man who they knew could get the job done; TJ McConnell. Brett Brown started McConnell, who played 39 minutes and led the Sixers past the Celtics, and sent the series back to Boston.

May 08, 2018
Don't Look Back In Anger: Sixers Go Down 3-0 To Celtics

The Sixers had a shot to win this one, like they had a shot to win the last one, but weren't able to get it done. There was Embiid trying to end the lives of Baynes and Horford, another great TJ game, but no win. There's no anger or mopeyness here, but a podcast of perspective, reflection, some honest realities, and a look at the game itself. One of our best!

May 06, 2018
Down In A Hole: Sixers Go Down 0-2 To Celtics As Simmons Disappears

It seemed like we might get the Process dream, a win led by Robert Covington and TJ McConnell. So close, but yet so far. Ben Simmons had the worst game of his career, Brett Brown decided not to call a timeout, and in the cruelest of finishes, Al Horford hit a big bucket. Can they still win the series?

May 04, 2018
A Total Disaster: Sixers Lose Game One To Celtics

The Sixers lost an ugly one to the Celtics in game one of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. When we say ugly, it was mostly the Sixers who were ugly. Bad defense, missed shots, questionable decisions from the coach, just a disaster all around. Mike is pretty mad, it's one of his best performances.

Our greatest t-shirt ever, "Process Or Die," is available right now for a limited time on our website.

May 01, 2018
It's Boston! Sixers Celtics Eastern Conference Semifinals Preview

The Sixers are playing the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, and we've got a full preview in the only way we know how to do it.

Playing the Celtics is a true revenge series for the Sixers. Maybe not for the Sixers, but for us. Several our of nemeses are Celtics adjacent, whether it be Danny Ainge, Bill Simmons, or the banned Kevin O'Connor. Not to mention Donnie Wahlberg.

We also announce the winners of the Lottery Party wedding!

Too Good! Simmons, Embiid, Redick Help Sixers Dispose Of Heat

The Sixers not only finished with the third seed in the Eastern Conference, and finished the season with sixteen straight wins, they beat the Heat in five games. We're feeling good and smug about the whole thing. We look back at the series and toward the rest of the playoffs.

The FINAL, and we mean FINAL batch of Lottery Party tickets are on sale Wednesday, April 25th at 10am. There will be no more tickets after this. Get them at our website.

30 For 30: How Did The Sixers Win That Game?

The Sixers never, and I repeat, never win that game. The Heat came to play, and the Sixers did not, for three quarters or so. Ben Simmons made plays on offense, Embiid dominated on defense, and they got some key contributions from some role players. This is the second golden era of the Ricky. We're here for this

Apr 21, 2018
Sixers Win, Joel Embiid Returns, Playoff Dario, Playoff TJ

Joel Embiid went from doubtful, to probable, to starting, to playoff Embiid. It was glorious. The Sixers had to fight to win this one, and we saw a little playoff Dario, playoff TJ, and playoff Justin Anderson as well. We discuss the win, as well as Robert Covington's play, and the general chippiness of the series.

Apr 20, 2018
Sixers Go Cold, Wade Gets Hot, And Joel Embiid Is Angry

The Sixers lost a game for the first time in a very long time, and the playoff series vs. the Heat is knotted up at one game each. We'll talk about the Sixers going cold from three, Dwyane Wade's revival, and the chances that Mike Weber is to blame for all of this.

Apr 17, 2018
Sixers Dominate Heat In Playoff Opener, Process Hero Confronts Silver In Stands, The Kevin O'Connor Ban

The Process Era Philadelphia 76ers are undefeated in the NBA playoffs. Much to Dave Silver's dismay, the Sixers cleaned it up after a messy first half and demolished the Heat in the opener their first round playoff series. We discuss the game, and the vibe before, during and after it. As well, we talk about Hero Of The Process, Academy Award nominated screenwriter Mike Weber confronting Silver in the stands about The Process.

We've also announced the finalists of the Lottery Party Wedding contest! Please go to rightstorickysanchez/weddingvote to read their stories and cast your vote!

Sixers Heat NBA Playoff Preview

In June, we'll celebrate five years of the Rights To Ricky Sanchez. This is the first podcast we've ever done previewing a playoff series for the Sixers. Let's look at Heat vs. Sixers. We all love the offseason Ricky, but we're glad to wait for it this year.

A side note: the Lottery Party is happening regardless of whether the Sixers are in the Eastern Conference Finals or not. Let's get there first then worry about it!

Too Good Sixers Streak Past LeBron, Ben Simmons Dominates, Sam Hinkie Resignation Two Years Later

Joel Embiid Broke His Face On Markelle Fultz's Shoulder, Sixers On To The Next One

Joel Embiid breaking his face on Markelle Fultz's shoulder is, as Mike put it, a little too poetic than we're comfortable with. We discuss the the injury, the Sixers surviving without Embiid for at least the rest of the regular season, Markelle Fultz's progression, Mike's appearance on The Ringer, and we talk to Mike's dad who is an eye doctor about Embiid. Not too surprising that Mike made his appearance on the Ringer and then we have his dad on the pod immediately afterward.

We also announce the big contest for the 2018 Lottery Party! GET MARRIED AT THE LOTTERY PARTY. That's right! All of the information is right here.

How Far We've Come: Sixers In The Playoffs (Almost), Brett Brown Coach Of The Year Candidate

It seems like just yesterday the Sixers were trying to avoid becoming the losingest team of all-time while we argued that it was the right thing. Here we are with the team at 42-30, and as the team "nobody wants to play in the playoffs." We talk about the journey from there to here, Brett Brown as a possible coach of the year candidate, and the team's recent win streak. We also discussion the notion of restitution from national media from the last five years.

Oh by the way, the Lottery Party sold out in a few hours. We thank you so much. There is a possibility of more tickets. We'll keep you informed. The new Lottery Party shirts are SWEET and available at our website.

Robert Covington Interview

One of the Children Of The Process, Robert Covington, joins us for a short interview to preview his appearance at the 2018 Lottery Party. We did get him to talk Hinkie banner, Brogdon booing, TJ in practice and skipping the Eastern Conference Finals.

We Were Right Before Christmas: Live Ricky II (featuring Chris Ryan)

We discuss Joel Embiid's injury, the people who were wrong, do some Adam Silver slam poetry, ask Chris Ryan about Bill Simmons a lot, talk to Jake Pavorsky about why he left us, say Markelle Fultz will be better than James Harden, and do a really out of control Q&A with the guys from BGN Radio and Larry Poff.

Thanks for coming!

Let's Talk About Brett Brown, Ben Simmons and The Live Ricky

The Sixers lost again on Tuesday night, and again to a bad team. Back to back losses to the Bulls and the Kings (without Joel Embiid) have people out for Brett Brown blood. We talk about how Brown has done this year and what responsibility he has to fix what's wrong. We also discuss Ben Simmons' decision to take six shots in last night's game.

The live Ricky is FRIDAY! Tickets are $18 if you get them before Friday, and $20 on Friday.

Dec 22, 2017
Joel Embiid's Minutes, ESPN's Failure, Paul George Trade, NBA Rule Changes

Joel Embiid was great in the three overtime loss to the Thunder, but played 49 minutes, and 88 minutes in the last two games with a sore back. Is this too much? Would you trade for Paul George knowing he's a free agent? ESPN did a whole day on the Sixers and din't say the name, some Bryan Colangelo Relationship advice and Around The League with Ish Smith.

Amazing news, the first 200 people into Friday night's live Ricky, We Were Right Before Christmas, will get the incredible Allen Iverson Philly Word Art print, featuring all of his stats from his MVP Season. You'll also see a live BGN Radio pod, Larry Poff (he's our baby), the Ringer's Chris Ryan, and get a photo with Jake Pavorsky. First 150 people also get a $150 LL Pavorsky gift card (off a purchase of $500 or more) and there ARE KORNBLAU T-SHIRTS.

Dec 14, 2017
Simmons vs. Ingram, Embiid vs. McConnell, NBA On-Court Fashions

Ben Simmons and Brandon Ingram met again, and Ingram got the better of it this time. How does that matchup look moving forward? We look at what went wrong in the home losses this week, and a rousing mailbag including a potential fistfight with Joel Embiid and TJ McConnell.

Another thanks to Run The Jewels for agreeing to allow us to use the song "Legend Has It" as our new intro song. Listen to their music, buy their stuff and let them send you push notifications.

Jah Freed, See Ya Sauce, Music Surprise

It's been 300 days since Mike ended the podcast correctly. All it took was Trevor Booker, a second round pick, and Nik Stauskas to get it done. We react to the life and times of Jahlil Okafor the SIxer, and bid a fond farewell to the living pick swap, Nik Stauskas.

There has also been an update on Markelle Fultz.

We also welcome brand new intro music to the podcast, give a big welcome to our friends (maybe one day) in...

Sixers At The Quarter Season Mark, Awards, Grades, Predictions

It might seem a little excessive to do awards, grades, and predictions at the quarter-season mark of an NBA season, but to us it seems perfectly reasonable. We'll grade out all of the Sixers players, coach, and GM, as well as give out some normal, and some strange awards.

We announced this week that The Ringer's Chris Ryan will join us on stage at We Were Right Before Christmas on December 22nd, and BGN Radio announced that Larry "He's Our Baby" Poff will join them on stage. It's really turning into the biggest, most insufferable, inside joke holiday party in history. Get tickets at the "in advance" price of $18 now!

They are $18 until the day of the show, when they become $20.

We talk about the amazing play of both Simmons and Embiid, the growth of Robert Covington, the new starting lineup, and of course, TJ McConnell. We also dive into the never ending Jahlil Okafor fiasco.

Ricky Mailbag: Bathing With Sixers, Spin Moves, And Bartender Colangelo

Everything has been awfully serious and sometimes depressing over the last week, so we decided to lighten the mood with an all-mailbag Ricky. We picked creative questions. Heartbreaking Loss or Moral Victory? And The Markelle Fultz Fiasco

Just as we all predicted, the Sixers had a lead in the fourth quarter and lost to the Rockets. Are we at the point yet where we can start being mad at losses like this? We discuss the TJ McConnell game, the performance of the young stars Simmons and Embiid, and Brett Brown's coaching decisions down the stretch.

We also discuss the most Sixers controversy of all-time, the Markelle Fultz injury-non-injury-what's-wrong-with-his-shot fiasco.

We also discuss the Celtics trade and fan behavior.

Sixers Sideline Reporter Molly Sullivan French

We've all watched a lot of Sixers for the last four years, and it hasn't always been easy. But once in a while, even if you don't tell anyone, you can skip a game. You can scroll through Twitter or watch the new Black Mirror trailer while you watch. Molly Sullivan French has not had that option.

Along with the rest of the TV team of Marc Zumoff and Alaa Abdelnaby, Molly has had to not just watch, but concentrate on every Sixers game since she's arrived.

We discuss trade options for Jahlil Okafor and the rumor that Richaun Holmes is in demand.

And the long awaited appearance of Nerlens Noel Twitter leader and father of Alt-Process Ben Detrick of Cookies Hoops, The Ringer and The New York Times.

Embiid Got Screwed, Enemies Of The Sixers, Who Is Paul Millsap?

It's a LIVE RICKY. Well they're always recorded live, and you always listen when it's recorded, but this time we were in the same room when it was recorded. Mike calls this a "live Ricky."

The NBA and its coaches decided that the world would rather see Paul Millsap in the All-Star game than Joel Embiid. This is not a world we want to live in. We discuss the Embiid All-Star snub, the TJ McConnell Rising Stars Challenge snub, who we believe the enemies of the Sixers (us) are, this week's games, and take some questions on Facebook Live on the Rights To Ricky Sanchez page.

Rock's Revenge, Are The Sixers Too Good?

We often talk about Retweet Armageddon, and getting online retribution for the anti-Process takes over the last few years. But within the Process-folks, there was a lot of anti-Brett Brown and Robert Covington discussion, is it finally time to walk that back?

We also discuss the limited playing time for Chasson Randle, Joel Embiid's chances at being a backup All-Star, Bryan Colangelo's recent interview on the TV broadcast, the Sixers career of Mo Williams, and whether or not the Sixers are #TooGood.

Sixers Win Total Projection, Bus The Process Wrap-Up, Retweet Armageddon Congress Results

Bus The Process was a fantastic success. ESPN said the name, Joel Embiid almost said the name. Comcast Sportsnet said the name, and nobody got injured. We wrap up the evening.

We also talk about Embiid's growth, TJ's game-winner, and what our new projections for Sixers wins is.

Finally, we reveal the winners of the Retweet Armageddon Congress listener vote.

Farewell Hollis, Embiid The All-Star, Ben Simmons' Arrival and Trading For Jimmy Butler

It was a very sad day for The Process, as Hollis Thompson was released this week. We reflect on the career of the most Process player (arguably) of the Process era.

We also discuss Joel Embiid's All-Star bid, TJ McConnell's starting spot, a potential trade for Jimmy Butler, the wins over the Wolves and the Nuggets, the Joel-Noel pairing, Ben Simmons' potential return, and announce the finalists for the listener spots in the Retweet Armageddon Congress.

For the listing of the candidates and your chance to vote for the in-town and out-of-town candidate (once per day), scroll down in this post below the podcast.

Also, if you're going on Bus The Process 2, check Thursday's pod for instructions.  If you're not going on the trip, but want to say farewell while we salute Hollis Thompson, join us at XFINITY Live! from 1pm till 3pm on 1/14.

Embiid Endorses Nerlens & Ask Me Anything

Since our last podcast, nothing changed with the Nerlens Noel situation and the Sixers, and everything changed. Bryan Colangelo spoke, and Joel Embiid spoke *out*, saying that he'd like to give the Twin Towers experience a try with Noel instead of Okafor. We also discuss Alt-Process leader Ben Detrick's piece on The Ringer suggesting possible trades for each.

Finally, we took some questions from our friends at r/Sixers, for the first ever Ricky AMA.

We also play the brand new song from Process Truster and actual musician, John Vincent, called "Chu Chu The F**kin' Legend."

Dec 23, 2016
Sixers Experiment With The Triple Towers, Retweet Armageddon Congress Revealed

For the first time ever, Joel Embiid said he did not trust the process. Coincidentally, that was the first time that Jahlil Okafor started along side him. And then it got even less fun when Nerlens Noel returned against the Lakers and only played eight minutes. We talk about the Triple Towers experiment, Jerryd Bayless' wrist surgery and subsequent missing of the season, the "return" of Ben Simmons to the court, and recap the week's games.

We also reveal the original members of the Retweet Armageddon Congress.

Dec 16, 2016
Nerlens Returns, Sixers Quarter Season Grades, Bus The Process, Amos & Jaron

They said it would never happen! Well, Spike said it would never happen. It looks like Nerlens Noel is going to return to play for the Sixers. We'll discuss how he'll fit. We also recap the week in Sixers, give out some quarter-season grades, talk about Bus The Process II (F*ck Andrew Sharp), the Retweet Armageddon Congress, and the new Ricky theme song by Amos Lee and Jaron Olevsky.

You heard us right! There is a Bus The Process II, on January 14th, to Washington D.C. to see Sixers vs. Wizards. For just $85, you'll get the bus down to D.C. (yes there is an option for those who live there and don't need the bus), a ticket to the game, snacks on the bus, a commemorative t-shirt from Cheesesteaktees, your picture on center court, and you'll shoot a free throw on the court after the game. Go to THIS LOCATION for all the details and purchase tickets from Phans Of Philly. It's going to be a lot of fun.

A huge, unreal thanks to Chef Olev And Sammos Hinklie, also known to the world as Amos Lee and his keyboardist/musical director Jaron Olevsky for the new Ricky theme song "Stay A Believer (Trust The Process)," a song written and recorded for Process Trusters everywhere (also I just named the song). Amos, in case you haven't heard, is from Philadelphia and a huge Truster Of The Process (read this great profile on Amos and the Sixers by Jason Lipshutz at Billboard). You can buy Amos' new album 'Spirit,' which is great. His entire library is great. Thanks Amos and Jaron!

When Should Retweet Armageddon Happen? Plus, A Hinkie Long-Read

Joel Embiid is playing basketball, Dario Saric is a Sixer in Philadelphia, and the Sixers won the lottery. So it's time for Retweet Armageddon, right? Not so fast. We take your suggestions on when the online day of reckoning should happen, talk about the new Sam Hinkie long-read in Sports Illustrated, discuss the losses to the Cavs, Raptors and Magic, and the debut of the twin-towers lineup with Embiid and Okafor.

Also we talk about the Sixers as compared to The Ship Of Theseus, thanks to Sean Carroll.

The Week In Sixers And Twitter Questions

We recap the week in Sixers, including the double-overtime loss to the Grizzlies, the Embiid-less obliteration by the Bulls, the win over the Heat, and Robert Covington's sorta-break out of his slump. We also briefly preview the Cavs game, and take a ton of questions from Twitter.

Nov 27, 2016
Is Stauskas For Real? Why Aren't Sixers More Clear On Embiid? What About Bob?

Somehow, someway, Nik Stauskas is playing like a man possessed. Somehow, some way, Robert Covington has forgotten how to shoot. We those things, the win over the Wizards, the matchup with the Timberwolves, and the Sixers decision to rest Joel Embiid at home.

Nov 19, 2016
The Sixers Win In November!

For the first time in a few years, the Sixers won a game before December. To put that in perspective, the last time the Sixers won a game before December, that Sixers team had Evan Turner and Spencer Hawes on it.

We do talk about the election for the first 45 or 46 minutes. It is spirited but we still love each other and you. You can skip past it if you've had enough.

We discuss the win over the Pacers, the near-win over the Pacers, the return of Robert Covington to the land of the living, the Joel Embiid podcast with Woj, JoJo's rest and the early success of the Los Angeles Lakers. Also, the newly discovered controversy regarding Bryan Colangelo.

Nov 12, 2016
Sixers Have No Wins, No Grants

Here we are, winless and arguing about Brett Brown's late-game coaching. Is it a product of a young, flawed roster, or is it time to hold Brown accountable? Sounds familiar.

We discuss Brown's coaching and the chances he makes it through the year, the greatness that is Joel Embiid, the Jerami Grant trade, the Nerlens Noel rumors, Robert Covington's shooting struggles, Jerry Colangelo's stepping down at USA Basketball, and more!

Pablo And Jojo: ESPN's Pablo Torre Talks Sixers, Embiid, The Process

'Trust The Process,' is a little phrase that we're all probably a little sick of and proud of at the same time.

When we look back at where it started (in this context at least), we can whittle it down to this; Tony Wroten said it, Pablo Torre wrote it, we ran with it, Joel Embiid perfected it.

It's been a long time coming, but we've finally got ESPN's Pablo Torre on the podcast to talk about his original Hinkie article, where it all went, and how awesome Joel Embiid is.

Oct 28, 2016
Sixers Season Preview

The season begins this week, and we look ahead and make our predictions for the 2016-17 Sixers. How long will Nerlens Noel be on the team? How much longer will everyone fight about it? How many games will they win? Will Ben Simmons play at all? Will Hollis Thompson shoot 40% from three? How long will it take us to make a lewd joke about Jerryd Bayless' wrist soreness?

And finally... Joel Embiid?

Oct 22, 2016
Joel Embiid Actually Sixers & Test The Process

Joel Embiid really played a game! Then he played another one! And he looked good! We discuss Embiid's debut, his embracing of his new nickname, and how everyone else on the team looked in the first two games.

Then, we're treated to a game of TEST THE PROCESS! Boy, this will be embarrassing. Spike and Mike compete against each other in a round of trivia hosted by none other than Andrew 'Invented Sauce Castillo, The Nickname Not The Guy,' Unterberger. You can follow the great Andrew Unterberger on Twitter @AUGetOffMyGold. You can read his work and his questionable opinions about music at Billboard.

Deja Vu: Ben Simmons Breaks Foot, Sixers Break Camp

Hey, here we are again! We discuss the news about Ben Simmons, make up scenarios, and help you get through it. Let us know if you find out who is helping us get through it.

We also talk about Nerlens Noel's comments at camp, and what the Sixers lineup may look like now.

Sixers Open Practice Facility, Embiid Debut Looms

There is no theoretical physicist, acclaimed writer, or audiobook on this week's Ricky, just some riffing about the Sixers.

We talk about Bryan Colangelo's appearance on The Vertical Podcast, the opening of the new practice facility, NBA2K 17, the 20 man roster, Vegas' over/under for the team, and Joel Embiid's upcoming debut. We also discuss Sam Hinkie's follows on Twitter.

The Week In Sixers & Hinkie Resignation Letter All-Star Audiobook

It's been two weeks, so we have a lot to talk about. Also, it's the offseason, so we're committed to doing something pretty different or absurd in each podcast.

First, we discuss Sam Hinkie's Twitter awakening, Allen Iverson's Hall Of Fame speech, Brett Brown's press lunch, the return of Elton Brand, and the various Embiid media of the week.

Then, we provide you with something incredible and ridiculous. We've recorded and put together an audiobook of Sam Hinkie's resignation letter. The various pages are read by us, LL Pavorsky, Max Rappaport and Jim Adair, Chris Ryan and Andy Greenwald, Sean Carroll, Andrew Goldstein, Ben Detrick, Mike Weber, Michael Baumann, and Eliza Hardy Jones. This is an all-timer.

Sixers Things: Sixers Fan And Theoretical Physicist Sean Carroll

Our offseason of intelligence soldiers on with Philadelphia native and Caltech Theoretical Physicist Sean Carroll.

We talk about what he thought of Hinkie's departure, Noel vs. Okafor, and what it's like to be a theoretical physicist AND a Sixers fan.

We also talk about the multiverse, his new book The Big Picture, and whether or not we're living in a simulation.

Chuck Klosterman: The Sixers, The Process, And Chuck's New Book

Hey, Spike here, I'm writing the intro to this one.

I've long said that Chuck Klosterman writes like I would want to write if I was smarter. He's my favorite writer of all time.

We were lucky enough to have Chuck on the podcast for an hour (!!) to talk about the Sixers, The Process, Sam Hinkie, Chip Kelly, and of course his new, awesome book, 'What If We're Wrong? Thinking About The Present As If It Were The Past.'

All The Right Moves: Grading Every Sam Hinkie Sixers Transaction

Many people ask us, "when are you going to get over it," and the answer is always "never!" At the very least, it's "not yet."

Because it's August and there's not much else to discuss, on today's Ricky we grade every single transaction of the Sam Hinkie era of Sixers basketball. We also briefly discuss the reported delay in the construction of the new practice facility.

Sixers Schedule Release, Dario & Sergio In The Olympics

We're so sorry, we were off, but it was Spike's fault.
We return with thoughts on Dario and Sergio in the Olympics, the Sixers schedule, Mike Weber asking the president about the Sixers, and a brand new relationship advice and Jigsaw.
Aug 14, 2016
Sixers Offseason Doldrums, Dave Spadaro And Relationship Advice

It's undoubtedly the offseason. Not the "draft, summer league" sort of offseason, but the "check in on Eagles training camp, talk even more about Jahlil Okafor, celebrate the signing of Dion Waiters, discuss the change in the Analytics Department, and do an extended relationship advice" sort of offseason.

Thanks to Dave Spadaro, host of the Eagles Live Podcast, for checking in from Training Camp.

And thanks to the wonderful Eliza Hardy Jones, who donated her song "Couldn't Leave You" as the Relationship Advice theme song.

Jul 30, 2016
Joel Embiid, Sixers Savior

Somehow, some way, Joel Embiid has managed to do things over the last two years to keep us hopeful and excited, even when he hasn't been able to play a game for the team. This week was no different. We talk about Embiid's new practice dunk video, and his social media tribute to Sam Hinkie.

We also discuss the remaining available free agents, the signing of Cat Barber, the return of Relationship Advice, and Jerry Colangelo's friend at The Undefeated.

Jul 24, 2016

Also, a tearful goodbye to Christian Wood, some long-promised hot takes on Adnan Syed's recent court victory, wrapping up Summer League, what not to do at the movies, and talk of an off-season return of "Relationship Advice."

Jul 17, 2016
Rights To Ricky Sanchez: Summer Sixers And Ben Simmons' Mental Skill Coach Graham Betchart

Ben Simmons is really, actually a Sixer. Look at him dropping dimes and refusing to shoot. He's everything we hoped for. We talk about Simmons' performance, the 'rise' of Christian Wood, TJ McConnell's haircut, and that guy on the Sixers who looks like he's an accountant.

As well, we talk to Ben Simmon's Mental Skills coach Graham Betchart, Director of Mental Training for Lucid. You can find out about Graham and Lucid's app at this location.

Jul 08, 2016

Rights To Ricky Sanchez: Sixers Draft Simmons, Luwawu, Korkmaz! Hinkie Died For This

A bittersweet draft, for sure. We got everything we wanted, Ben Simmons, Timothe Luwawu and Furkan Korkmaz. But we wish Sam Hinkie was here to have it with us.

We discuss the draft, the flurry of trade rumor activity beforehand, and the roster construction for the Sixers moving forward.

We also take some questions from the BRAND NEW Rights To Ricky Sanchez Facebook page.

Finally, The Ringer's (and The Watch podcast, and After The Thrones) Chris Ryan (@ChrisRyan77) joins us, to tell us if he secretly hates Andrew Sharp, if Bill Simmons is trolling us, and whether he's back being a Sixers fan.

Rights To Ricky Sanchez: Noel Teague Trade Rumors And Sixers (76ers) Draft Countdown

Thank you rumor mill! If there's anything that screams "Sam Hinkie is gone," loud and from the rooftops, it's a rumor that the Sixers are considering trading Nerlens Noel for a year of Jeff Teague.

We break down the trade rumors, speak with SB Nation's Ricky O'Donnell about his thoughts on the draft and what the Sixers should do, celebrate the YouTube Big Board's influence on the draft (hi Marquese Chriss!) and talk about a process moment with a big-time musician.

Jun 04, 2016

Spike debuts his YouTube Big Board for 2016, Mike waxes poetically about Timothe Luwawu, and Derek Bodner joins the show to talk about who the Sixers should take at #1, who they should take if they get another top-five pick, and who may be available with the 24th and 26th picks.

We also talk about which big man the team should trade (Noel or Okafor).

And of course a long, heartfelt farewell to Mike D'Antoni.

Rights To Ricky Sanchez: Sixers Hire Ned Cohen And Marc Eversley, Lottery Party Looms

The Sixers hired some guys!

Bryan Colangelo hired a guy whose name is Ned and is almost impossible to find on the internet. It seems like he's flirting with us. We discuss the hiring of Cohen and Eversley, what Bryan Colangelo actually does, Mike D'Antoni's interview in Houston and what that means for Brett Brown, and we take Twitter questions.

The Lottery Party is REALLY REALLY CLOSE.

May 06, 2016
Rights To Ricky Sanchez Podcast: NBA Scout Elan Vinokurov And The Billboard

One of our most popular podcasts ever was with NBA Draft scout Elan Vinokurov, so we're RUNNING IT BACK! Elan comes on the show to talk about what he (and we) got wrong and right about the 2015 Draft, and take a look at some of the bigger questions for the 2016 draft. Elan was nice enough to offer to come on twice this year, so we'll have him on closer to the draft to get into some of the nitty gritty.

Follow Elan on Twitter @ElanVino, and visit his site at

We also discuss what went into our now famous billboard.

Rights To Ricky Sanchez: Sixers Free Agent Targets & NBA Playoffs

People have asked a lot of times, so we go over every possible free-agent target the Sixers could have this summer.

We also discuss the current NBA playoffs and give our predictions, discuss Bryan Colangelo's appearance with Derek Bodner on Sixers Beat, once again talk about the snakiness of Jerry Colangelo, take some Twitter questions, and cryptically hint at something we won't discuss.

All in all, a pretty full show.

Rights To Ricky Sanchez: It's All Over! Sixers Season Awards And Grades

We also discuss the rumors of Brett Brown's dismissal, Bryan Colangelo's denial, and Jerry Colangelo's all-around snake-in-the-grassedness.

We're a month till the Lottery Party kids, let's do this.

Apr 16, 2016
Rights To Ricky Sanchez: Picking Up The Pieces In Process & Sixers Land

What a week it's been for The Process. It's pretty funny that our group is seen as small, but "The Process" and its proponents seem to have captured the ongoing narrative for an NBA team for the better part of three years.

In any case, this episode was recorded "live," as Mike says, when in really means "when we're both in the same room." We discuss our feelings on the week, a few days later, the home court finale, which we both attended, the Josh Harris presser, the upcoming Lottery Party, and the future of the team and the podcast.

In case you were wondering, the Lottery Party is STILL ON, and will now be more massive than ever.

Apr 10, 2016
Rights To Ricky Sanchez: Farewell To The Process, Sam Hinkie Leaves Sixers

Not much to say here.

There will still be a Lottery Party, which will be Sam Hinkie Appreciation Night.

We will look to add Sam's name to the shirt.

Thanks for listening to our podcast. You guys are the best.

Apr 07, 2016
Rights To Ricky Sanchez: Sixers Have Five Chances To Win One

On some level, winning only nine games this season would be appropriate. If you're going to be bad, you might as well be all-time bad.

On another level, giving people one last chance to take shots at the team is something we'd probably all like to avoid.

We discuss the final five games, the loss to the Pacers, Villanova's big win, Buddy Hield's disappearing act and place in the draft, Sam Hinkie squatting 500 pounds, and take a boat load of Twitter questions.

We're almost there, gang.

Apr 03, 2016
Rights To Ricky Sanchez: Future Sixer, D'Angelo Russell & Odds The Sixers Win Again

It's sort of perfect that the scandal (?) involving D'Angelo Russell, also involves Swaggy P. This has Sixers written all over it.

We discuss the always-was-going-to-happen Okafor for Russell trade, the recent reports about Sam Hinkie's future with the team, the odds the Sixers win again this season, Nerlens Noel's sadness, and basically an hour of Elton Brand and Carl Landry talk.

Mar 30, 2016
Rights To Ricky Sanchez: Ricky's Greatest Hits, The Sam Hinkie Interview

Mike is celebrating his anniversary with the wonderful Alyssa, and driving up to the Bay Area to watch the Sixers play the Warriors. Spike is suffering from the worst allergy attack in the history of allergies.

We will do a full podcast this week. While you wait, here is the Sam Hinkie interview we did in October of 2013, that many new Ricky listeners have never heard. It's funny to hear what we thought then, and what we think now. Sam was great, and this is still one of the best pods we've done.

Until later this week, keep on processing.

The Rights To Ricky Sanchez is always brought to you by LL Pavorsky Jewelers.

Mar 12, 2016
Rights To Ricky Sanchez: Ricky Night At The Sixers Wrap-Up, Bad Defense Down The Stretch Malaise

Deadspin said we have Stockholm Syndrome, Max Rappaport got like a thousand retweets, we confused other fans and most of the beat writers, and a bunch of Process Trusters refused to chant "Let's Go Sixers" on the big screen, to the confusion of one Christian Crosby. It was a successful RTRS Night at The Center.

We wrap up the evening's highlights, talk about the (probably fake) Dennis Schroeder trade, and try to figure out why the Sixers stink so bad again.

Feb 28, 2016
Rights To Ricky Sanchez: Sixers Trade Deadline Wrap-Up, Lottery Party Announcement

The Sixers made a franchise-altering trade at the deadline once again, acquiring Joel Anthony and a second round pick.

Jan 16, 2016
Rights To Ricky Sanchez: Sixers Sign Elton Brand And Win Another Game

The Rights To Ricky Sanchez Podcast is brought to you by LL Pavorsky Jewelers.

Jan 09, 2016
Rights To Ricky Sanchez: Sixers Dads Gone Wild

Jan 03, 2016
Rights To Ricky Sanchez: Merry Ishmas From The Sixers

The Sixers got Ish Smith, Mike D'Antoni, and a win.

We talk about the trade, the win, the Okafor War, the MCW trade (again) and the release of Spike's favorite Process-Era Sixer, Tony Wroten.

Dec 28, 2015
Rights To Ricky Sanchez: Is This Rock Bottom For The Sixers?

How many times have we asked this question in the last three years?

"Are they too bad?"

How many times is too many times to ask that question?

We talk about the state of The Process, the D'Antoni hiring, the state of the team, the return of Kendall Marshall and Tony Wroten, the development of Jahlil Okafor, and which guards should stay or go.

Dec 19, 2015
Rights To Ricky Sanchez: Kendall Marshall Returns, Sixers To Hire D'Antoni?

So much has changed for the Sixers in the last week. They hired Jerry Colangelo, extended Brett Brown, Sam Hinkie was on the way out, now he's here for the long haul, Kendall Marshall returned to save the day, the team is maybe hiring Mike D'Antoni, and now Woj is getting all the Sixers scoops. The Sixers are the most interesting terrible team in sports history.

We discuss all of this, plus the current state of the team on the show.

RTRS Night at the Sixers is happening! We will all sit together and do Hinkie chants and horrify people (politely) on February 26th against the Washington Fuck Andrew Sharps (Wizards). Rights To Ricky Sanchez: Sixers Get A Win, Add Tony Wroten

What a strange week for the Sixers. They become the focal point of the basketball world for one night as Kobe Bryant returns, they get their first win, another video is released of Jahlil Okafor fighting, Sam Hinkie isn't talking (who would have guessed!), Tony Wroten returns, the Sixers blow another close game, and the pitchforks are out.

Just how we like it! We get into all of those things, the LL Pavorsky Holiday Party, and finally, the way to identify true Trusters Of The Process.

Dec 06, 2015
Rights To Ricky Sanchez: Sixers Are 0-17 And Jahlil Okafor Is Fighting People

The Sixers are -0-17... again.

They're clearly playing better, but is it enough? Of course we discuss Jahlil's Okafor's (two) fights, Brett Brown's late game struggles, the resurrection of Robert Covington, and if there's ever been a group of fans more eager to see Tony Wroten and Kendall Marshall.

The RTRS Podcast is brought to you by LL Pavorsky Jewelers.

Rights To Ricky Sanchez: Sixers Start 0-12, Still Trusting The Process?

The Sixers got to 0-12 with a bang, with a listless, poor effort against the Indiana Pacers. We've been here before, but is it worse this time?

We discuss the trusting of the process, the sold out Phans Of Philly bus trip to Brooklyn, whether Brown or Hinkie could have done anything differently, and a Sixers fan who wants a secret tattoo.

The RTRS Bus Trip to Brooklyn is SOLD OUT. Two buses, and another large group who lives in New York will invade the Barclays Center on March 15th. If you bought tickets, thanks so much and wait on details from Phans Of Philly. We are an unbelievable bunch of weirdos.

The Rights To Ricky Sanchez podcast is sponsored by LL Pavorsky Jewelers.

Rights To Ricky Sanchez: Sixers Open Season With Mixed Results

Hey, Jahlil Okafor looked great! But they can't score any points! But Nerlens looks like he's on another level! But can Brett Brown coach offense?! But Sauce Castillo hit a three and the crowd went nuts!

There were some mixed results in the first week of the 2015-16 Sixers, and we break it all down as we saw it.

The Rights To Ricky Sanchez is proudly brought to you by LL Pavorsky Jewelers.

Nik Stauskas lived up to his Twitter word!

A big week in the world of future-former Sixers.

Anthony Bennett wasn't claimed, Gerald Wallace  was waived, and Paul George seemed a little grumpy.

As well, Nik Stauskas agreed to come on the Ricky.

All of this, as well as some Twitter questions, Spin's fraudulent 50 Greatest Fictional Songs list, and Brett Brown's interview.

Also, watch Mike's new show, The Grinder!

09.05.15 - Sixers Sign Kendall Marshall

The podcast is back. We thank the natives for being restless and impatient. We'll be back on schedule now.

The Sixers signed a point guard! By signing Kendall Marshall and trading for the contract of Gerald Wallace, the team has now acquired everyone they were supposed to during this era of Sixers basketball.

We talk about Marshall, and catch up on everything we missed, including Embiid's surgery, Hinkie's telephone conference about it, Nerlens Noel's rank by Sports Illustrated, the legacy of Daryl Dawkins and Lil B's signing with the 87ers.

Sep 05, 2015

Rights To Ricky Sanchez: Sixers Finally Trade For Gerald Wallace

Welcome home, Gerald Wallace.

In a move that Sixers Nation has been predicting for what seems like a decade, the Sixers obtained future former future Sixer Gerald Wallace and his contract in a trade for Jason Thompson that seems hilariously insignificant and significant.

We talk about the trade, Joel Embiid's surgery delay, who the point guard will be and battle over updside.

Rights To Ricky Sanchez: Sixers Summer League Review, Wilbekin, And The End Of Trust The Process?

Jul 11, 2015
Rights To Ricky Sanchez: Hinkie Strikes Again, Sixers Get Sauce Castillo

One day, we see a crack in our trust in the process.

The next day, we wake up to maybe one of the most one-sided trades we've ever seen.

We break down the trade with the Kings, our more tempered draft reactions, NBA free agency, the Jimmy Butler meeting that never happened, a summer league primer, and a new rallying cry.

Forget about setbacks, buyouts and all that nonsense. The NBA Draft is in 48 hours.

Jun 24, 2015
Rights To Ricky Sanchez: Sixers Draft Countdown and NBA Scout Elan Vinokurov

The draft is just days away, and we haven't had any setbacks. Things are just not healing as quickly as we'd like them to.

We recap the week in Sixers, including the new uniforms, Spike's fight on WIP, and the lack of updates on Joel Embiid. Then the guys have real life NBA Scout Elan Vinokurov, founder of EV Hoops on to explain what the life of a scout is like, his relationship with NBA teams, and his thoughts on any potential Sixers. They also give their last thoughts on the NBA Finals, including Andre Iguodala's Finals MVP Award.

Jun 20, 2015
Rights To Ricky Sanchez: Joel Embiid Had A Setback, Sixers Fans In Panic

This is what we had written for the podcast that was supposed to be recorded on Friday.

Well, maybe they want Dario now.

There are some rumors that the Sixers would like Dario Saric to come over to the NBA this season. Are these rumors for real? Who knows, but let's talk about them anyway! We also discuss the team's decision to not say "Wells Fargo," Andre Iguodala, NBA Finals MVP, Spike's run-in with Brett Brown, and our ever-changing-for-n0-reason Big Boards for the NBA Draft!

My how plans have changed. Thanks Woj! Joel Embiid had a setback.

What does it all mean? How should you feel? Is it all over? Do you trust the process? Why did Spike have a mental breakdown on Saturday night? Is it related to the fact that he can't turn his air conditioning off?

It's all in today's Ricky.

Jun 14, 2015

Rights To Ricky Sanchez: LIVE From The Sixers Lottery Party

Who'd have guessed, two years ago when we started The Rights To Ricky Sanchez podcast would be doing a live version, that barely anyone could hear, in a packed Buffalo Wild Wings, in front of hundreds... (deep breath through nose) AND HUNDREDS of the pod's supporters? No one would have guessed that. You'd be a moron to have guessed that.

But it happened, and it sounds, well, it sounds like it sounds. It's a funny listen. You hear people boo Doug Collins and Howard Eskin. You hear people chant "asshole" at Andrew Sharp. And you hear Mike and I sort of try to do a show, and then eventually give up.

May 21, 2015
