EP. 421: How Are You Evolving? (Plus: What's going on with this podcast?!)
28:51

Hey, y’all! It’s been a minute, and I’m back with some updates. In this episode, I’m giving you the lowdown on what’s going on with the podcast, an update on my Year of No, and a preview of what’s on tap for the new year. I’m drilling down into the healing process and why it requires slowing all the way down, and sharing my desire to travel back to a simpler time. Perhaps we can hold on to what worked from our pasts and bring those principles with us into this new year. Listen in to learn how.

A Scrappy Year of No Update, Grown-Up Gap Year is Here, Nutella, and OMG All my Learning!
43:33

Alright, y'all! All of my best September podcasting intentions got derailed by Covid, Mercury retrograde, and my launch. I'm back today with a scrappy update to share some big lessons I've been learning.

In this episode, you'll hear how my Year of No influenced my decision not to put out an episode now, what happened when we got Covid and how it affected my business, why I'm not freaking out about low launch results, and the huge *5 months in the making* revelation I had last week over a spoonful of Nutella.

EP. 419: Strong, Perfect, and/or Waiting...Which Are You? (The Encanto Episode is Here!)
50:07

The Encanto Episode is here! But whether or not you’ve seen the movie, I’d like you to look at the three keywords in the title of this episode: Strong, Perfect, Waiting... Ringing any bells? There’s a reason this movie is so popular, and it’s not just because the songs are catchy as heck. The three Madrigal sisters give us an honest, sometimes gut-wrenching look into our own humanity and the pressures that come with it. Whether you relate to Mirabel, Luisa, Isabella, or all three on any given day, I’m giving you permission to slow down, release the pressure, and just be. Let’s share some magical Madrigal moments on today’s episode of the Tiffany Han Show.

EP. 418: You: Beyond the Busy (aka How to Avoid Frantic Chaos when There's a LOT Going On)
41:14

Has this thought ever crossed your mind?

“I will _____ just as soon as I _____.” (Feel free to fill in the blanks with that thing you really want to do, followed by what you “have to” do.)

It’s easy to feel like we have to keep chugging along even when things feel out of alignment, and today’s episode is a reminder that we are not worker bees! We are made of stardust, and we deserve to live in a place that doesn’t feel like burnout—even when there’s a lot to get done.

Instead of hanging our hopes of relief on how quickly we can get things done, there is a gentler, more authentic, and meaningful way to move through our days and I want to tell you how. Less bee-ing and more being! Are you with me?

EP. 417: The Things We’re Not Supposed to Say (And What to Do With Them)
29:39

As ambitious high-achievers, there are certain things we’ve been taught not to say. Instead of four-letter words. I’m talking about phrases like:

I’m dissatisfied with this life I’ve worked so hard to build.

I want something unnameably-different from this amazing looking life.

I want more. And less. And fun in a way I can’t articulate.

If you can relate, start by taking the bar of soap out of your mouth—there’s no shame in feeling what you feel. Today I’m talking about what happens when we say what’s on our hearts and minds without self-judgment, even though there’s pressure to stay silent and stay grateful—and how to use those unsayable things as *useful* information. Wanna join me in hopping off the hamster wheel of self-improvement and looking inward with me?

EP. 416: July Year of No Update: The Launch Results, a New Experiment, and Pre-Pondering Instagram
38:15

Welcome back for another Year of No Update! I’m addressing the question we’ve all been asking…did giving up social media destroy my business? Spoiler Alert: Nope! That’s not to say things don’t look a little different these days. Listen in as I share exactly how different this year’s Grown-Up Gap Year Early Bird Registration went compared to last year. That’s right. Down to the exact numbers!

I’m also chatting about what’s been coming up for me lately, some tricky things my brain is doing amidst the mid-year slipperiness, how social media worked for me last year, and why I might be preemptively thinking about hopping back in…Taking some time to discover what I’m most curious about has got me in full-on experiment mode, and I’m so excited to tell what I’m discovering!

EP. 415: What to Do If (and When!) You Hit a Wall and How Radical Self-Belief Can Help
33:56

How many times have you forced yourself to power through when you don’t really want to? This week, I’m talking about a recent “I hit a wall” experience of my own when I  reached my capacity and had to choose between two options: I could push through into burnout mode, putting out work I didn't feel great about. Or I could take a breath, give myself a little grace, and look around to see the earth still spinning.

You’ll hear what I did (I’ll be you can guess) and what things I want you to think about if (and when) you find yourself approaching! I also break down the pillars of Radical Self-Belief and how each can help you to slow down, be present, and keep from doing too much damage. A little late for preemptive measures? Don’t worry, friend. I’ve got something for you too. Let’s take a beat and feel a bit more alive, together.

EP. 414: The Year of No and My Business & How I'm No-ing My Way Through My Upcoming Launch
52:10
Welcome back to another Year Of No update where I’m talking all things business! With the upcoming early-bird application period of Grown-Up Gap Year in sight, I’ve been tossing out the formulas and harnessing my energy to have a bit more fun with it all. Sure, the “way things are done” exists for a reason, but if disregarding the rules lights us up, shouldn’t we run with that instead?

Via my Year of No, I’m opting for freaking awesome over fine and ditching the master plan in favor of trusting my energy.. After all, isn’t that what Grown-Up Gap Year is all about? Hint: It totally is. Listen in for the inside scoop on how I’ve been moving through my business differently, how I know I’ve set myself up for “success,” and my hunch as to why my results probably won’t have anything to do with being strategic.

EP. 413: The Impossibility of Balance and Where to Play Instead
57:04
It seems like everyone and their mother has something to teach us about “finding balance,” and maybe you think you could get there too if only you could just cross off enough on the to-do list! Today I’m here to burst the balance bubble once and for all, because while we’ve been taught incessantly about what a balanced life should look like, we’ve never been told what it feels like.

What if we scrapped the whole thing? What if we stopped striving for something that doesn’t exist? What if we found a way to light ourselves up in an unbalanced way? Do we dare find harmony in a song we can write ourselves? Today I’m sharing some helpful tools to do just that.  Take a deep, centering breath and decide what’s enough. Ready to begin?

EP. 412: On Guilt, Doubt, Uncertainty, and "What is Enough?"
44:31
Warning: This episode contains uncomfortable and necessary truths that will ultimately set you free. Today we're talking guilt, doubt, and the myth of “enoughness.” None of these plagues are going anywhere, anytime soon. AND  we have the opportunity to tap into DFSTAG to take those initially wobbly steps toward strutting into a life we so desire.   More good news? You’re not alone. We’ve got a LOT of unlearning to do, but we get to do it together! I’m going to clue you in on the tools to help dig deeper, the questions to ask for clarity, and even throw in a history lesson on why breathing is an important place to start. Are you with me?

EP. 411: Year of No Update: What We've All Been Waiting For + Something Completely Unexpected!
49:40
If committing to a year of no was me planting a seed, I can now say that some very exciting (and pretty unexpected!) developments have taken root! I’ll get you caught up on how my Year of No is going, share what’s surprised me the most, and talk about my confirmation that a “Week of No” or a “Month of No” would never have worked for me.  I also re-cap last week’s Bake-Along experiment, my delicious live chat about trying something new while simultaneously trying something new! So meta.  Oh, and this whole episode is a great reminder that life is so much more delightfully exciting when you proceed in faithful surrender—without knowing the outcome.

Tune in to hear what I learned, and all that’s coming around the bend!

EP. 410: The Thing(s) About Surrender and Where to Look Next
39:19
Relax your shoulders. Unclench your jaw. Today we’re talking surrender. While the word itself may summon images of everything from a day spa to a white-flag failure, I’m here to drive home the facts:

  1. It’s not a walk in the park.
  2. It is NOT the same as giving up.
  3. You cannot “achieve” your way into it.

What you can do is join me today with an open mind and a willingness to explore some new perspectives around infusing a little surrender into your everyday. Let’s see how much more fun we can have when we loosen our grips and toil a bit less.

EP. 409: Slingshot Effect & the Opposite of Influence
29:04
In today’s history and linguistics lesson, I’m getting to the root of the un-influenced life and how best to find our way there. Who are we when we’re not being influenced? How can we find our way out of the rabbit hole when we’ve forgotten our discernment? Who is actually making the daily decisions in our lives?

After that, we’re talking “Slingshot Effect” and how to best utilize it on our journey back to ourselves. So let’s slow down to make progress. Let’s get quiet to find our voices. And let’s become fluent in the language of ourselves. This episode is like one big exhale. Breathe in with me and let’s begin.

EP. 408: Your Best Life is Already Here
45:10
Today I’m diving into the idea of “living your best life.” Usually, this phrase is followed by a list of items we have to buy or a checklist of tasks required to reach that coveted place. But how many cashmere blankets does it take to get to your best life? Why does it seem as though the to-do list keeps growing no matter how effortlessly we check things off?

And what might change for you if you embrace that idea that your best life is already here?

Maybe I’ve piqued your interest. Or perhaps you’re appalled at that notion…either way, I promise all will be explained in today’s episode. Join me to find out what it means to say that your Best Life is here, today, while embracing radical self-belief and the 5 pillars of DF-STAG. Fear not, toxic positivity is not part of the equation. Let’s take a break from all of this powering through and greet our best lives together.

EP. 407: Year of No: Month 2 Update
51:51
This week on the Tiffany Han Show, I’m back with an update on my “Year of No” project, including all the ways I’m now saying “YES!” I’m also letting you in on my personal experience, especially during such turbulent times, living beyond the lens of social media. Spoiler alert: Instagram was costing me more than I realized.  I’ve been asking questions, following my curiosity, spirit tending, and even sitting in emotions I might have scrolled away from in the past. It’s not always easy, but living in this experiment feels pretty darn good. I’m also announcing a BIG change coming to the podcast! Listen in to learn the what and why of it all!

EP. 405: Five Things We Get to Stop Believing
39:45

This week, we’re talking about a few beliefs that are standing between you and your radiant, Technicolor life, and why I want you to practice kicking them to the curb…starting now…with a ton of grace. Many of these beliefs are rooted in systems of oppression that influence so much about our lives, so while the beliefs won’t dissolve overnight, we can take the first steps away from them together. It all starts with awareness.

Not only will I be tackling these limiting beliefs, but I’ll also share how to prepare for the inevitable resistance that shows up when we try to live with more ease in our lives. Is that little voice your intuition or something else entirely? Tune in to find out, and allow yourself to start where you start.

EP. 404: The Stories We Tell
16:41

When it comes to inspired life design, it’s very easy to focus on the things we’re doing (or not doing!). This week, I’m inviting you to go deeper and consider instead the stories you might be telling yourself about whatever’s been going on. More often than not these stories are packed to the gills with judgment. Our well-meaning but unhelpful brains are doing their best, but needless to say, it may be time to get mindful of the power these stories hold over our lives.

In today’s fun-sized episode I’m giving you a helpful exercise to create space between your brain and the living stardust version of yourself. Three simple questions will help to tap into a deeper level of awareness where DF-STAG is sure to meet you!

EP. 401: My Year of No Q+A
40:25

Welcome to Part 2 of the LIVE 400th episode Zoom party where I open up the floor to questions about 2022 “My Year of No” and giving up social media for a full year (or…forever?). Join me and members of the audience as we question and answer what this shift is going to mean for me, how to say “no” in a way that’s expansive, and what happens when it’s eventually time to say “yes.”

Is this a big ole change? Yup. Is there a possibility of “failure”? Totally! Am I taking this opportunity to experiment with ways to open my life up to more moments of joy and magic? Absolutely. I’m willing to hypothesize that it just might be worth it. Have questions that weren’t answered in this episode? Head over to TiffanyHan.com/asktiffany and let me know what you’re curious about.

52:19

Episode 400! Can you believe it? In honor of this milestone moment, as well as the 5th anniversary of my sobriety, this episode was recorded live in front of a Zoom audience. Join us as I take a look back on my transition from “Raise Your Hand Say Yes” to 2022: My Year of No!

This year-long project begins with perhaps one of the most daunting “no’s” of all, and that’s NO social media. For the entire year! Listen in as I explain why I’m taking my year-long social media hiatus, how I’ve prepared, all the things I’m afraid of, and a handful of other no’s I’m embracing along the way. I’m saying NO and making room for the yes’s that light me up. Care to join?

EP. 399: My Phrase for 2022 & A Pep Talk About Navigating Change
35:37

It’s that time of year again! In today’s episode, I’m revealing my phrase for 2022, and how I intend to harness its power in the new year. While past years of this practice have been more helpful than others, now more than ever feels like the time to plaster mantras on the walls that inspire us to find a little more magic in every day.

I’m also talking about all things change and how to navigate it. Join me in taking a pause to consider if the discomfort and danger we feel is truly a threat to us, or simply to the way things used to be. Some BIG changes are coming around the bend (TBD in Ep. 400!) and I’m so excited to dig in together. Take a breath and tune in!

EP. 392: An ADHD Update!
45:27

In episode 371 I brought some radical transparency with the announcement of my ADHD diagnosis. This week, I’m revisiting that diagnosis with an update of everything that’s changed since and how my journey has gone! From my sleep, productivity, and anxiety, to my journey with medication, it has been an eye-opening few months and I’m excited to check in on where I am now.

Other things I dive into include: How do we create a new normal, with ourselves and our loved ones, after a diagnosis like this? How do we acknowledge the truth of our struggles, without feeling as though we’ve been fooling everyone? And how do we find strength in saying the vulnerable things out loud? I’m addressing these questions as well as the questions YOU asked on Instagram in today’s episode. Listen in and join the conversation.

Disclaimer: This is my personal journey and NOT a decree on how things must be done. Please consult your doctor if you would like to address your experience with ADHD.

EP. 390: The Beautiful Nonsense of Being Alive with Adam JK
51:47

I am so thrilled to be speaking to  Adam J. Kurtz (aka Adam JK) on the podcast about his new book, You Are Here (For Now), a collection of essays and art about life, and change, and you, and me, and all of us trying to just be more okay. Let me say I devoured this book and had room for seconds it was so good.

Tune in as Adam and I discuss the difference between living and truly being alive with all the paradoxes along the way.  If the pandemic has taught us anything it’s that we both have a lot of time and we don't. We know enough and also don’t have a clue. Nothing is permanent and if you’re evolving you’re doing something right, but being busy is not a personality. Like I said, paradoxes abound. Let’s get more comfortable with it all together in this amazing interview.

EP. 389: Saying Yes to New Habits with Charles Duhigg
48:57

On this particularly inspiring (and particularly vulnerable) episode, I’m so pleased to have chatted with Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist and the author of The Power of Habit and Smarter Faster Better, Charles Duhigg! Together we drill down on what it takes to say “Yes!” to the changes we’d like to make in our lives, knowing where to start, and the role belief plays in all of it.

Turns out there’s a big difference between setting a goal and making a plan! Listen in as I become the guinea pig while workshopping a S.M.A.R.T. plan with Charles, and find out how you can do the same. Living through a global pandemic certainly altered some of our daily routines, so today we’re discovering how to make the most of our jolt out of autopilot and shift into some fulfilling new habits.

EP. 388: Racial Justice Through Mindfulness with Rhonda Magee
30:04

In thinking about where to start when it comes to tackling racism and dismantling systems of oppression, it’s easy to feel like any right next steps can feel simultaneously like way too much and not nearly enough. Luckily I had the opportunity to chat with the incredible Rhonda Magee about her book, The Inner Work of Racial Justice: Healing Ourselves and Transforming Our Communities Through Mindfulness, and why mindfulness is the best place to start.

While this may seem like the least radical approach, Rhonda is here today to explain why that’s exactly the point. Get ready to quell your judgments and learn how to work toward racial justice by starting with yourself. Begin to lead with compassion and connect with others by means of doing your best, because you are enough! You do not want to miss this revelatory conversation!

EP. 387: Liberated by Less with Christine Platt
53:34

Forget everything you think you know about minimalism and get ready for an education on liberating yourself from the physical and emotional clutter that’s no longer serving you. Christine Platt, author of The Afrominimalist's Guide to Living with Less, joins me today to chat about the true meaning of minimalism, the best ways to approach letting go of what is no longer serving us, and living more intentionally than ever before.

Only holding on to the things you need, use, and love may sound like a no-brainer...until you look around at the give or take 300,000 (that’s right) objects in the average home. What’s the harm in overconsumption? Think time, energy, and the emotional labor you could be imposing on future loved ones. I know this sounds like quite the undertaking, which is why I’m so glad Christine is here with us today to prove how attainable a mindful life with less can be.

EP. 386: A Brand New Take on Productivity & Time Management
43:57

Ah, productivity. The finish line we’re sprinting towards that stretches ever farther away the faster we hustle. Here’s the truth: We’ve been sold a raw deal on productivity and time. “Managing” our time stifles the magic of being alive! Today I’m calling out my fellow Super-Doers with a reminder that you can trust yourself.

Listen in as I reveal the lesser-known impacts of stress, how our current relationships with time can exacerbate them, and break down the 5 Pillars of #RadSelBel in relation to how we’re approaching our time and our lives. Ready to start living from a place of joy and delight instead of obligation? Sounds like it’s time for a Grown-Up Gap Year. Tune in to find out more!

EP. 385: Why Delight and #RadSelBel and Feeling Good are *Allowed* Even When Things are Hard
48:50

Time for some RADICAL transparency: my impulse (note, impulse) was to ask myself today if talking about #RadSelBel and Grown-Up Gap Year even mattered when it felt like so many hard things were happening around the world...until I saw a tweet that reminded me of why I do what I do.

Today I’m offering the warm reminder that it’s okay to feel both rage and hope. That #RadSelBel helps us slow down and bring even more of ourselves to a world that desperately needs it. Being in touch with our creativity helps us solve problems, no matter what lane we’re in, and making space for that is more important than ever. EP. 384: From The Inner Circle to Grown-Up Gap Year, and Ch-ch-changes: All the Whys Behind the Moves I'm Making (and how to know if GUGY is right for you!)
45:21

You may have noticed quite a few ch-ch-changes around here lately and today I’m opening up about all of them. Between the retirement of my Inner Circle and the birth of my new program, Grown-Up Gap year, I certainly stopped to wonder at times what all this change was for. After all, why fix it if it ain’t broke, right?

Wrong.

I’m taking a page out of my own book and getting curious, moving intuitively, and stepping into change from a place of love and not obligation. I’m approaching these changes with the same spirit I plan to instill in Gap Year, which is not about pulling out of life and obligation but showing up to everything in a new way. Listen in to find out how it’s all going down and why Grown-Up Gap Year might be exactly what you need.

Who would I be if I stopped being a “Good Girl”?

This is the question on my mind after today’s prolific chat with Majo Molfino, coach and author of “Break the Good Girl Myth: How to Dismantle Outdated Rules.”. Together we dissect the “5 Good Girl Myths” and the importance of dispelling them in your own way. Toppling the patriarchy is a tall order made even stickier when we learn that the patriarchy lives within all of us. Majo and I speak at length about the sneaky and often invisible impacts of the systems we’ve all been born into. It’s time to take responsibility, to own the friction, and unlearn the thoughts and behaviors holding us back from our most radiant Technicolor lives. Where to begin? EP. 380: How I'm Walking My Walk
42:10

Today I’m putting my money where my mic is and revealing exactly how I’m walking my walk when it comes to living a life grounded in radical self-beleif (#RadSelBel!). Slowing down to engage in the life-long practice of what I preach is less about the BIG DECISIONS to make change, and more about the daily baby steps we take to flip the script, prioritize our values, and give ourselves permission to live in wonder.

Disclaimer: What works for me may not work for you. In fact, it may sound like the very last thing you want to do. Remember, there is no correct path towards your most radiant Technicolor life! EP. 379: Creating Adventure with Cait Flanders
48:23

Whether she is adventuring through the experimental changes in her everyday life or adventuring around the globe, Cait Flanders has created a life led by bold choices. Luckily for us, she has chronicled it all in her newest book, “Adventures in Opting Out” and is chatting with me today about what happens when we reframe our choices as adventures.

The majority of self-help books may assist in inspiring you to make significant changes in your life. They might even detail precisely how to execute them. But then what? What happens when we get the sinking feeling that maybe we made the “wrong” choice? Or when those closest to us don’t understand or respect what we’re called to do. What if life is just fine and yet we feel called to change it anyway? Cut to Cait’s book and today’s episode, shedding light on these doubts and helping to embrace the discomfort that may show up, even when we’re moving in the right direction.

EP. 377: A Different Set of Fears & Doubts, Pt. 2
35:08

Welcome back to part 2 of this deep dive into the fears and doubts that often pop up when we decide to live beyond the to-do list. I’m adding a few more to the list and reminding you that this is a life-long practice that we can continue to work on together!

Why does this shift in perspective take time and support? Old patterns are hard to shake, especially when we’ve been brought up in a society that encourages you to reach for the stars but also to remain humble and grateful for what you already have. Does having the desire to better our lives make us ungrateful for what we’ve got? If you’ve felt the strain of this societal dichotomy, be sure to listen in and find out how we’ll work through this during Grown-Up Gap Year!

You know the ones...fear of failure, fear of success, fear of change, the list goes on and on. So what’s on the other side of ambition? What if this is not as good as it gets? What do you truly need today, and what if you had the AUDACITY to start asking yourself? 41:13

Welcome to the beginning of the #RadSelBel movement—I’m definitely on a mission to make it a whole thing. This week, grab your favorite pencil case and meet me for a powerful history lesson on Radical Self-Belief and the deeply rooted foundations of why it’s so dang challenging for us to trust ourselves. If this is something you struggle with, you’re not alone, and you’re NOT to blame.

When history class is over, we’ll step back into modern times to talk about what radical self-belief is (oh, and isn’t!) and what it can do for you! Let’s drop into a life that feels as good on the inside as it looks on the outside, and let’s do it together. #RadSelBel

EP. 369: How It Looks vs. How It Feels (and Everything in Between!)
40:25

In today’s episode, lovingly dubbed “The Asterisk Episode”, I’m laying down some inconvenient, yet expansive truths about our inconvenient feelings. Let’s exhale into the possibility that we can feel fear and faith at the same time, that we can come to a decision with certainty while still having a few dozen questions to answer, and that slowing down will inevitably spur on momentum. EP. 367: Checking In on the Year of Giving up Business
31:22

So you know how everyone always says that you’ve gotta “CEO it up!” to be successful? If you currently have your CEO hat on, feel free to pop it off and rest it gently on the dashboard if that feels right for you, because I want you to listen to today’s episode free from the structures, systems, and shoulds that may or may not be working in tandem with your values.

Today I’m circling back to a conversation we began together some time ago about letting go of the “business” of my business, because I personally needed the reminder after slipping back into my old barreling ways. I’m going to tell you all about my new program (eek!), the epiphany I had while planning it (spoiler alert: it required some tweaking), and what happens when you decide to stop “making it work”, and maybe just don’t do it. Hop in and roll the windows down, you gorgeous human.

54:36

The internet: friend or foe? Join me and marketing coach and strategist Kyla Roma as we acknowledge all of the ways the internet can positively connect us while dissolving the false narratives shrouded in instagrammable rainbows.

What began as a casual conversation between friends, grew into a quest for truth amongst the interweb of lies we unknowingly absorb daily. We knew these revelations were just too important to keep all to ourselves, so pause the doom-scrolling and listen in on this episode that will validate what your gut has likely been telling you all along. #liestheinternetoldus

EP. 365: What Marie Kondo Has Taught Us About Life
38:34

Whether or not you’ve had the opportunity to go full Marie Kondo on your home just yet (I’m right there with you), there’s still so much to learn from “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up”. Today’s episode takes a look at the teachings of Marie Kondo through the Tiffany Han lens in what I consider to be more of a decluttering of the soul.

Get ready to zoom up and out of that one drawer you’ve been fixating on, may it be a literal kitchen drawer or more of a metaphorical mental cabinet, and dive into the life-changing magic that you know we love to throw around here on the Tiffany Han Show.

EP. 364: The 7 Things I'm Bringing With Me
34:06

Nothing complements a tall glass of nostalgia like some freshly baked life lessons to bring along for the ride. This forward-facing episode is about the 7 things that I picked up in my nearly-7-years of making the Raise Your Hand Say Yes podcast that I’m bringing with me into this new chapter of The Tiffany Han Show, and with the help of some inspired determination, my life as well.

We often fear change before the realization dawns on us...“Hey, I’ve actually been changing all along!” Let’s take a step toward being more present and intentional with those changes and embrace a new sense of expansiveness, together.

If you’ve been craving an evolution in your own life or feel like you’re right on the precipice of something different, I’ve got you covered! (Also, this is a great time to remind you that you’re allowed to both honor all the amazing things you’ve done up until now AND step into something new!)

32:52

Y'all, it's a big day! I’ve been hinting for a few weeks now that my business and my podcast are changing. And the time has finally come: episode 362 is the last episode of Raise Your Hand Say Yes.

Even though my podcast is shifting (I'll meet you right back here next week with a new name and artwork), it will still be me chatting in your ear about the things that are lighting me up and interviewing fascinating people.

Today, though, I’m sharing the inconvenient whispers that led me to this change, how I navigated the process, and what all of this means for the future. For detailed show notes, visit www.tiffanyhan.com/blog/episode362.

Ep. 361: The One About Plants (aka a Big Ol’ Metaphor About Our Lives)
22:31

Have you ever felt like you're outgrowing (or have outgrown) an aspect of your life?

My whole perspective shifted on a FaceTime call with a friend a few months ago. He saw my sad-but-regularly-watered plants in the background and told me that those plants of mine were really unhappy and that even though I was watering them, they still needed food and enough space to grow.

This episode is about plants, but it’s also about us—how we water ourselves, what nourishment we truly need, and if the containers we’ve given ourselves are the right ones. It’s all a big ol’ metaphor, of course, and it’s also a precursor to the shift I’m making in my business.

Ep. 349: My Backstory (aka How I Got Here)
53:09

In a world full of people telling us how they can revolutionize our businesses and that we need to leap and hope with all we have that our nets will appear, how can we be so sure that the move we're going to make is The Right One?

This week, I'm taking you through my journey (starting Freshman year in college) of so many Raise Your Hand Say Yes career moves that eventually got me to the place of starting my coaching practice, going full time, and starting this podcast.

There are twists. And turns. And backtracks. And pivots. As is to be expected by life. But, there was also so much learning - which I'll share as well.

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy, and remember: you're doing great. You're not alone. Keep going.

What I Said:

"We are meant to evolve, and sometimes we evolve beyond the confines of our current situation."

"How to start from scratch? You just start."

"You are capable of more than you realize."

"If you're on the precipice of something and you feel that nervous excitement, it is okay to take a small step."

"Don't let that questioning convince you not to take the step because it's the step that makes all the difference."

Ep. 348: On beginnings, tiptoeing into the year, and asking different questions
47:10

Whether you're ready to dive headfirst into the new year or you're still trying to wrap up the last one, I've got you covered with this episode. We're going to talk about endings, beginnings, and the questions I want you to consider as you think about the start of the year. (And also: wherever you are is beautiful and wonderful. YOU ARE DOING GREAT.)

Aaaand in case you need them for reference, here are the questions for you to consider:

*How do you want to feel?

*Where are you finding meaning?

*What's going to bring you peace?

*What are you ready to release?

*What are you ready to find your way back to?

What I Said:

"Beating yourself up in order to live your best life doesn't work."

"The thing that brings you peace might also bring with it some temporary disruption."

"Transformation hangs in you doing the work to get to the bottom of where you want to be."

Those Timestamps:

Ep. 347: On being enough, doing enough, and redefining enough (aka How to be an Orchard)
41:28

What do you think about when you hear the word "enough?"

In this episode, I’m going to tackle what I see as two different (and often competing!) realms of being and doing enough and then offer ways to help you redefine the word according to your own standards. (Amen and hallelujah to that, right?!)

First: Am I enough? This is all about YOU and how it feels to be you in your life and showing up to yourself.

Second: Am I doing enough? AKA why having a strong value of service does not mean you have to sacrifice your humanity in order to show up for the world.

I also cover the power of your values, self-alignment, the importance of not measuring your worth based on somebody else's standards, and why those tiny little steps are the way to start. Oh! And then I wrap it all up with talk of seeds, harvest, and how to make an orchard with your life.

Things I Said:

"If an idea won't leave you alone, it's a sign that you are the person being gifted with that dream."

"Being of service does not mean that you have to sacrifice your humanity."

"The only starts that we can make are small starts...one step at time."

"Don't let that voice that tells you 'You are not doing enough' keep you from doing anything at all."

Those Timestamps:

Ep. 346: 6 Signs You're on the Right Track
33:25

This week, I'm talking about some signs you can look for to show you that you're on the right track and why they might be different than the ones you're currently watching for!

Being on the right track might be creating something new, but it might also be just listening to your longings. And so it’s critical to know whether - “Should I keep going?” or “Should I quit?” – especially if the road feels so rocky.

So today, I’m giving you 6 Signs You're On the Right Track – and right track means the things that you want to say YES to... or it might also be the things that you are ready to say NO to.

Things I said:

"Having doubts means you are changing your perception and the way you show up."

"Pay attention who you are telling your ideas to."

"If it is meant for you ,it will keep showing up."

"Rocky roads aren't roadblocks. They don't mean that you have to stop. They're just a sign that you are moving forward."

Those Timestamps

05:03 - #1: You have doubts

09:50 - #2: It makes you nervous

14:09 - #3: Your inner critic shows up

16:47 - #4: People around you don't get it

Ep. 345: The 12 Stages of Burnout and How to Get Out of It
24:51

When was the last time you woke up feeling like you were excited to dive into your day? If you're not sure, you might be suffering from burnout.

In this week's episode, I'm sharing the 12 phases of burnout (as developed by psychologists!) and talking about why I think—as hand raisers and yes sayers—we're especially prone to burning ourselves out.

I'm also sharing one of my favorite super-easy-to-start-using tools for beginning to move yourself beyond burnout.

What I Said:

"The answer to moving beyond burnout is never that you need to work harder."

"If we say ‘yes’ without saying ‘no,’ then we are just saying ‘yes’ to everything, and that’s not going to work"

"We often hang out in the early stages of burnout and don’t think there is anything wrong with that."

"Moving forward does not mean we have to sacrifice ourselves.”

Those Timestamps

04:30 - The 12 phases of burnout

06:35 - Excess of ambition

08:30 - displacement of conflict

09:46 - Denial of problems

Tell me this: would you avoid anything in the world to feel needy? Do you want to go deeper into your desires but feel selfish in doing so? Are you so accustomed to taking care of everyone else around you that you never have any time left for yourself?

Sweets, pull up a chair because this vintage episode with life coach and host of the Needy podcast, Mara Glatzel is going to be balm for your soul. I wanted to have Mara back on early in the Money, Sex, Freedom series so we could talk about how wanting more for yourself in those areas is totally okay and also SUPER ENCOURAGED.

And, newsflash: having needs doesn't mean you're faulty or a failure. It means you're human! (WHOA.)

Dive in. It's so good. (Mara, thank you. You are a gift.)

What She Said:

"It is both essential and normal to have needs."

"Having your needs met makes you so much better at everything you do."

"If we can't make space for taking care of ourselves then we can't bring a full version of ourselves to anything that we do."

"When you lack trust in something, you create a lot of rules around it."

Ep. 343: Nat Lue on Boundaries and the Dark Side (!) of People-Pleasing
01:11:42

I loved talking with Natalie Lue for this week's vintage episode and we covered so much ground, including: habits (and relationships!) that aren't serving you, how to step beyond those well-worn patterns, drama and our addiction to it, and how people-pleasing is actually a manipulation (SAY WHAT?!).

We also covered identities that don't serve us, letting other people dim our light, and why having emotional baggage doesn't mean anything other than that we're human.

Natalie blew my mind in this episode and I think you'll love it!

What She Said:

"Patterns happen when we're living unconsciously, and that means we’re not living who we are."

"We're so used to giving ourselves a hard time that we often chase things that deep down we don't want."

"Sometimes we want something so badly it feels like a need but it isn't."

"People pleasing masks a hidden agenda... Being honest about what our reasons are could be a real game-changer."

"Adulthood is about unlearning all of the harmful and unproductive stuff that we pick up along the way."

"We have to take the journey and go through whatever we need to experience to learn what we need to learn."

Those Timestamps:

04:04 - Recognizing and letting go of old identities, habits, emotional baggage

13:44 - Taming your inner critic and silencing the negativity

19:19 - How to stop people-pleasing and start being/doing you

Ep. 342: Impulse vs. Fact, aka How to Keep Going When Your Brain Gets Tricky
37:28

The big question we're tackling this week in this vintage episode is this: how do you proceed towards the life you want to live when your pesky brain keeps getting in the way with the fear and the doubt and those sneaky impulses?

(Related: how do you get yourself to do the things that matter most to you when, in the moment, you just don't want to!?)

(Also related: if you experience this, YOU ARE NOT ALONE.) Dig into this week's episode to hear about why I want you to ignore your brain and what to focus on instead!!

What I Said:

"We build resilience, confidence, and progress through action."

"The answer is not to have it all figured out. It's knowing enough and having the faith to willingly take the next step."

"The impulse is not the authority of your life. You are!"

Those Timestamps:

04:05 - How to learn not to listen to your "brain"

15:27 - Shrinking the recovery time between the impulse to the fact

24:23 - A commitment to sobriety and recovery

29:31 - How to show up differently...and with integrity

Ep. 341: Tanya Geisler and the Imposter Complex
58:59

"I'm not good enough. I'm not ready. I don't belong here." These are just a few of the things the Imposter Complex would have us believe (yes! there's a name for that!) and this week I'm thrilled to have life coach and Imposter Complex expert Tanya Geisler back on the podcast to talk all about the Imposter Complex.

In this vintage episode, you'll hear what it is, how it shows up, what it means if you experience these things (it's good, I promise!) and how you can move beyond it to get all those things you want for your life (looking at you money, sex, and freedom!).

What She Said:

"Every great thing that we've ever done has been by feeling that fear and doing it anyway."

"The ego wants to want more than it wants to get."

"We have to have areas in our life where there has to be relief—where you can just rest and not have to be the best at things."

Those Timestamps

03:27 - What is imposter complex? Who experiences it?

Ep. 340: Lena West on Money, Discomfort, Value, and Worth
54:27

Money, money, money! It's uncomfortable and necessary to talk about.

This week, I'm bringing back a conversation with my former business coach Lena West to dive straight into the most-uncomfortable parts of the money conversation, including: why we show up the way we do around money, what's beyond the "charge what you're worth" mantra, how to deal with money discomfort (and why it probably won't go away!), why striving to just be nice is bullshit, what happens when the people in your life aren't supportive of your endeavors, how to know what to charge, and SO MUCH MORE!

Lena is all heart and no bullshit and will shake up your beliefs around money in the best way! Enjoy, enjoy!

What She Said:

"The amount of money is not the point. It's about what is non-negotiable for you and standing in that."

"Getting to 5, 6, 7-figures in your business isn't a walk in the park."

"The money has to have a meaning; otherwise it's just some arbitrary nonsense."

"Don't share dreams with people who don't have any... share your dreams with dreamers and doers."

Ep. 339: How (and Why!) to Take a Break
35:29

Y'all! I'm taking a break! Whuuuuuut? Yes! After over 6 years of producing (at least) weekly episodes for this show, I'm talking a wee break, and in this week's episode, I'm sharing why I'm pausing now, what that's going to look like for the podcast, and how you can take a break as well.

Listen this week to find out the practical things I'll be doing during my break (because I have to make it as useful as possible, don't I? lol.) as well as the ways I'm holding space for myself. Aaaaaand you'll get to hear a little bit about what might be coming down the track for RYHSY. A new podcast name?! Maybe, just maybe. WHO EVEN KNOWS ANYTHING ANYMORE???

Oh! If you're already wondering when new episodes will be coming, don't fret! I've got a bunch of my faves queued up for your ears while I'm away!!

What I said:

"Just because you can keep going doesn't mean you should."

"Your break doesn't have to be all or nothing."

"Let 'I don’t know' be normal. Accept it for where you are right now instead of working harder and pushing more."

Ep. 336: What's Next? (And all the rage, grief, and hope in that question)
32:04

This week, I'm talking about what to do when you find yourself either wanting something to change, recognizing that something's not working, or recognizing that you don't know where to go next.

Picking up a thread from my conversation last week with Rob Bell (and his new book Everything is Spiritual), I want to examine the question/prayer/mantra "Now what?" and show how we can work with it to get the clarity we're after.

If you're not sure what’s next or still figuring out the next steps in the life that you want, this episode is for you!

I share what it means to keep going, how to find clarity, why anger is okay, and what embracing curiosity and grace can bring to your life.

What I said:

"The reason that I have 336 episodes is I kept going."

"Prayer is a powerful tool."

"What we need to be aware of is what’s on the other side of anger."

"The knowing will lead you to curiosity, and curiosity will lead you to clarity."

I am so excited to be talking with one of my current Inner Circlers Gillian Freeman, of Pen & Thimble, this week! Gillian creates handmade, eco-friendly products for her business and is a busy mom of 2.

In this episode, we talk about her experience in the Inner Circle, what brought her to the work, what she learned about pausing and taking breaks, and why she didn't really believe that what's happened for her was possible (but it was!).

Ep. 332: Those Unseen Costs of Staying Still
46:20
Yes. Raising your hand and saying yes to what you want for your life is going to require time and energy. And you might have precious little of it (hey! There's a free challenge for that!). But this week, I'm talking through all the things that not following through on what we want for our lives is costing us.

And what I know is that it's time for us to shift our standards of what's acceptable. To stop letting doubt make our decisions. To take a stand for what we want even when circumstances are less than ideal.

Overcoming inertia will always be a challenge. It will only get harder the longer you wait. And those things keeping you up at night? They aren't going anywhere. So what would happen if you started investing in yourself. (Yes. Even right now.)

In this episode, you'll hear me talk about helping you set a foundation of being yourself in your life. Showing up to everything as the single version of you. Living on the outside as who you know you're ready to be on the inside. It's bold and brave and beautiful. Let's go.

What I Said:

"Your pre-COVID life was too much. No wonder you don't know where to put yourself right now."

"Continuous improvement is not your life's purpose."

"Staying where you know you don't want to be is never going to help get you what you want."

"I'm asking you to step into simultaneously easing up on yourself and holding the entire world to a higher standard of what's okay and acceptable."

"Long-term stress is killing us."

"Extreme dissatisfaction can be an impetus for change."

"The resistance keeping you still is only going to get louder the longer you wait."

Those Timestamps:

04:57 - The unseen cost of not saying yes to yourself
13:36 - Knowing when to start looking for something else

What Glennon Said:

Ep. 330: Living in and Embracing Contradictions
43:05

Do you need rest or to work harder? Should you focus on your end goal or stay present to what you need right now? Is what you're doing too much or not enough?

This week, I'm diving into how learning to live within contradictions instead of either/or thinking can help us both more forward towards our goals and feel better within our days.

What I said:

"Step into the breadth of everything that is in the IN-BETWEEN instead of thinking about things as EITHER-OR."

"The point of having goals is to help you decide your very first step of action, not put you on a forever-path."

"Building relationships with people does not mean that you have to sacrifice who you are."

"Maybe it's the all-or-nothing thinking and not your failing as a human that's keeping you stuck."

Those Timestamps:

Ep. 328: Embodied Values & Bridging the Divide of Who you Are and Who you Want to Become
30:09
This week, I'm answering a listener question (hi Susan!) about how to embody and live into one's values, but I'm also taking this question deeper to talk about how to get started in bridging the divide between where you are now and where you want to be, even if (and especially when!) that divide feels overwhelming and insurmountable!

I also share how you might be treating those seeds you're planting so unfairly and what to do instead as well as give some personal-for-your-agency-archetype advice for each type. (I feel like I took myself to church on this one; thank you for your question, Susan! It inspired so much!)

What I said:

"When it comes to embodying values, our job is to stay really fluid, nimble, and open."

"If we keep taking steps, those steps might take us somewhere surprising."

"If you are not embodying your own values, you're embodying somebody else's."

"Commit to using your values as your compass even if everyone else seems to be loving some totally-jacked-but-socially-acceptable-enough compass to guide their lives."

"The answer to getting to where you want to be is not to stay where you don't want to be."

Those Timestamps:

06:11 - How to get started with a values list
08:16 - Commit to imperfect and uncomfortable action
12:47 - How small steps can be a game-changer for you
18:17 - Values as a compass

Ep. 327: The Power of Destruction (and What Happens When you Stop Fearing it)
30:39
It's easy to think of destruction as something negative (and thus to be feared). And our fear around it often limits us and keeps us stuck.

Today, I’m showing a different perspective of destruction, one that can be used to embrace it as a way of unbuilding and a chipping away of things as we rebuild our lives.

Tune in as I talk about the power of destruction, when it is a positive thing, how to welcome unbuilding in your life, where to start in the rebuilding and how to have faith in your personal agency. Enjoy!

What I said:

"You can simultaneously be grateful for what you have and want things to be different and better."

"If you live on a tightrope but are always clinging to the edge, you have nowhere to go."

"If we let fear run our lives and make our decisions, the thing that we're most afraid of usually becomes true."

Those Timestamps:

04:19 - The fear of destruction
12:27 - Self-fulfilling prophecy of fear, The limiting power of fear

Ep. 326: Juggling the Unknowns
30:42
How do you grapple with uncertainty? How do you find your footing when the only thing that feels guaranteed right now is chaos? How do you step into faith when keeping all your current balls in the air feels overwhelming?

This week, I walk you through juggling the unknowns. We are going to talk about moving forward during uncertainty, decision making and why you need to trust yourself, the value of constantly refilling your well, practicing self-care, and how to find faith amidst the unknown.

And a simple reminder: your job is not to have all the answers. Your job is to have faith.

What I Said:

"It's important that you refill yourself so that you have the energy to fully show up."

"Difficulties don't mean you are doing things wrong; it is part of what shows that you are doing them right."

"There is nothing wrong with not knowing. Stop looking for the absolute Right Answer."

"Faith takes practice (and an ongoing commitment to something you can't see)."

Ep. 325: Vanessa Mentor on Pausing, Sovereignty, and the Truth about Self-Care
01:05:33

This week, I'm talking all things self-care with Vanessa Mentor, coach, teacher and the creator of Living Unrestrained.

As an advocate of self-care, Vanessa helps people re-learn how to give without over-giving and love without people-pleasing so they can live the life they say they want.

In this episode, Vanessa and I tackle sanity and self-care, being fierce in attending to yourself and your needs, pausing and easing, how to reframe busyness into intentional choices, and what it truly means to be generous.

We also talk about how self-care is a radical act that's especially needed right now and flip a few things you might be thinking about taking care of yourself on their head!

Episode Quotes:

"Self-care is a set of learnable skills that starts with self-awareness."

"If you want to help somebody, get yourself together." - Wendy Palmer

"True self-care can never be selfish nor indulgent."

"By caring for ourselves, we increase our capacity."

"Self-care allows us to activate our sovereignty. Every day."

Ep. 324: But what about the guilt?
32:26
This week, I'm talking about guilt. The guilt of letting people down we try to avoid. The guilt of living out of alignment we try to avoid. The guilt of not doing "enough" we try to avoid. (Yeah. Can you see a theme here?)

In this episode, I'm sharing how to grapple with all of that guilt, the importance of being rooted and grounded in yourself, understanding your core values and what matters most to you, and what it means to live a life in alignment with your values. (And, why, at the end of the day, guilt isn't the most important thing to pay attention to.)

What I said:

"Challenges don't mean it is bad or that you shouldn't be there. Often it means that we are on the right track."

"The moment of guilt doesn't have to define our character."

"When we get grounded in ourselves, we are less likely to live at the whims of trends."

"It is essential that you are aware of your own unique set of core values."

"There is a deeper peace and freedom when we live in a way that is in alignment with our values."

Ep. 323: On Being Enough, Doing Enough, Redefining Enough, and How to be an Orchard
38:35

"Live your life and prove to yourself what you are capable of."

"If an idea won't leave you alone, that is the sign that you are the person being gifted with that dream and vision."

"Service does not mean that you have to sacrifice your humanity."

"If you're measuring your worth based on somebody else's standards it will be impossible to live up to that."

"The only starts that we can make are small starts...one step at time."

"Don't let that voice that tells you 'You are not enough' keep you from doing anything at all."

Those Timestamps

00:43 - Am I enough? - YOU, purpose, and service

10:35 - Reckoning with discomfort

14:36 - Are you doing enough?

Ep. 322: On Doubt and the 5 Yes's
45:35

**RSVP for the Agency Archetypes Training on 6/30 at 11am PST**

This week, I'm talking about doubt and saying yes.

More specifically, I'm going to talk about how, I've shifted from thinking that "doubt means don't" to seeing doubt as a requisite part of the raise your hand say yes process and what it has shown and taught me about living life in integrity and alignment with my values.

I also tackle the commonly-heard phrase "If it's not a hell yes, it's a no" and offer a nuanced approach to both that phrase as well as the 5 different yes's I want you to consider, as well as the one that's the most important and easiest to ignore.

My goal for this episode is to give you insight into things that get in your way that you can shift as well as some new ways to think about your obligations, priorities, and how what you most want is likely found in what you're most likely to avoid.

Episode Quotes

"We have to make peace with the doubt and know that it's a part of the process."

"The hardest part is how to keep going. The hardest part is how to get back up when you've been humbled."

"When we only say yes out of obligation, we are shutting off the flow of spirit."

Ep. 321: Nat Lue on Relationships, Bandwidth, Anxiety, and Respect
01:01:25

I am super excited to be bringing Natalie Lue back to the podcast. Natalie is an author, speaker, teacher, and podcaster at Baggage Reclaim Sessions, where she helps people get address all the things - lack of self-worth, habits, relationships - that are standing in their way of living the life that they want.

Listen to my previous episode with Natalie on boundaries, emotions, and the dark side of people pleasing.  (This episode was such an aha moment for me!)

This episode was recorded the first week of May, so you’ll hear us talk about the COVID-19 lockdown (and what it has to teach us!), what to do when people are continuously letting you down, what it means to sit in our discomfort, the importance of self-awareness and slowing down before we reach burnout, what our relationships can teach us about ourselves, and how to even recognize what we actually want and need.

Nat, you are a gift! Thank you for coming back on the show!

Episode Quotes:

"Burnout is not just a cause of work, burnout can occur in any area of our life."

"We have to learn to read our surroundings and not just live in the past."

"We have to recognize that each of us have our own personal bandwidth that encompasses our emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual health."

"The more things that we say YES to that really we don't need to is the less bandwidth we have."

"If we are always being all things to all people, we lose that self-connection."

"Stop saying YES to things that make you feel like shit."

Ep. 320: Playing Small to Play Bigger
46:34

This week, I'm tackling a question I get a lot: how do I balance slowing down with the big goals that I have for myself? Do I have to choose one or the other?

Short answer: no.

Longer answer: there's a lot to consider here.

We’ve been programmed to think that BIG is BETTER. The thing is, playing big is often what our ego wants. And it's easy to demand of ourselves that we do ALL THE THINGS IMMEDIATELY. (Which only leads to burnout and not being able to make progress on much at all!)

So where do you go instead? What if focusing on playing small is actually the starting place?

If you’re someone who feels disconnected to your life, or you feel connected to your life but feel disconnected to yourself, then this one's for you. You'll hear about the value of getting granular with your life, why ‘sitting still’ could be empowering, keeping your focus on the life that you want, self-compassion, and taking bold actions. Enjoy!

Things I said:

"We can actually get closer to the lives that we want by learning how to play small in order to play big."

"The things that feel small might actually be the most powerful expressions of you and your gifts in the world."

"How we do one thing is how we do everything."

"In the hard moments, your number one job is to stay put."

"The core of the life you want is rooted in your values, personal agency, self-care and compassion."

Those Timestamps:

02:00 - You've got big work to do

07:40 - Playing Big vs. Playing Small

15:10 - Getting granular with your life

This week, I’m joined by Gina Senarighi, relationship coach, retreat leader, speaker, and author specializing in human connection, intimacy, authenticity, shame-resilience, and alternative relationships. Yes. She does a lot and is so smart!

Y'all are for a treat this week as we talk about how to live in relationship with ourselves and others, why putting all your eggs in the self-love basket may not be serving you, how to make the changes in your life (that actually stick!) and do the things that you love (even if you're not sure where to start!), what self-alignment at home and at work looks like and why pleasure is essential -- but shouldn't feel like a daunting endeavor. Enjoy, enjoy!

Things that were said:

"It's the micro changes that we make that builds whatever change we want long term."

"Our relationships with other people are founded in the relationship we have with our self.”

"Shame never motivates long term behavior change or sustainable changes in people's lives."

"Sometimes learning to love yourself comes in learning along with somebody else."

Ep. 317: Those Things I've Gotten Wrong: A Very Incomplete List
45:17

This week, I'm taking a walk down memory lane to look at the things I've gotten wrong (some WAAAAAY wrong) in the past 5.5 years of doing this podcast.

You'll hear my revelations on risk, self-care and burnout, tackling big goals, pleasure, and how everything (annoyingly so!!) starts at home. (I'll also share what I mean by that!)

Aaaaand you'll hear me talk about why I'm comfortable sharing this list and what I'm doing about these revelations. Because this learning is part of the process and just because I've gotten things wrong in the past doesn't mean I can't keep going and bring my learning along with me!

Episode Quotes

"We cannot just say YES to the risk without also saying YES to the reverence."

"There is something really beautiful about realizing that you are stronger without the shield of all the things you've convinced yourself make you stronger."

"Self-care is a daily and ongoing devotion to yourself and the things you want to do."

"Pleasure and delight are not frivolous."

"The things that you want to do all starts with YOU and how are you showing up to yourself."

"It's not about what you are doing, it's about who are you being."

"The fix may not be quick, may not be comfortable, but it is available. Are you willing to show up anyway?"

Ep. 305: Friday Quickie: Listener Q - When (and How!) to Keep Going
13:13

This week's quickie is my response to a listener question.

Elizabeth wrote wondering "Keeping at something can yield a masterpiece, or it can result in not much. So how does it work? Is it a question of passion? Enjoying the process but being detached from the result? And does everyone have the ability to keep going or does it require a certain kind insight into yourself?"

And while I don't have a Clear Cut Answer, I do have many thoughts. Enjoy, enjoy!

(Related: how do you get yourself to do the things that matter most to you when, in the moment, you just don't want to!?)

(Also related: if you experience this, YOU ARE NOT ALONE.) Dig into this week's episode to hear about why I want you to ignore your brain and what to focus on instead!!

Ep. 261: John Zeratsky on Making Time
01:04:29

This week we're talking about time management. But wait! I know you *think* you've heard everything there is to hear about how to get more done and optimize your time! But my guest, writer, speaker, and designer John Zeratsky is going to shake up your whole world when it comes to the question of how much time do you have *and* how are you spending it.

In this episode, John and I talk about what to do when you're "losing" time, how to get yourself out of the busy-filled cycles so many of us exist in, how to let things go AND STILL get things done (because we aren't trying to throw our ambition baby out with the bathwater!) and how to figure out a system that works for YOU and allows you to focus on what matters most to YOU. (Yes. Those capital YOU's matter because this isn't about following someone else's prescription of How To Do Everything.)

Ep. 260: 5 Years, 5 questions
40:17
Happy 5th birthday Raise Your Hand Say Yes!!! This week, I'm sharing some thoughts as my podcast baby celebrates her fifth birthday and rather than sharing lessons learned, I'm sharing 5 questions that I've learned to ask myself throughout this entire Start and Maintain a Podcast phase of my life!

Listen in to hear what YOU can start asking yourself as you navigate those big goals you have for yourself, and learn about how nothing needs to make sense, baby steps are the only steps to worry about, and what I want you to do (yes! do!) today!

You'll also hear me name my podcasting studio in real time, get a glimpse at what my 5-year-ago priorities for the show were when I started (you'll be surprised!) and hear why I'm totally okay with you loving or not-loving Harry Potter!

Ep. 259: Stephanie McKenna on Money, Debt, and Saying Things Out Loud
01:04:41

Money. Debt. Earning. Mindset. Shame. Vulnerability. And saying it all out loud. This week, we're diving into all of these things with Stephanie McKenna who's been on a quest to pay off her debt, change her relationship with money, and shift her mindset around work out loud.

We cover how mindset shifts are the key to everything, how Stephanie started out by focusing on the wrong thing (and how she shifted that), the surprising things she learned when she considered what she really wanted (it wasn't just more money!) and how she relieved herself of her own Internet-induced, self-defeating expectations and timelines.

This conversation is so refreshing!

We also covered identities that don't serve us, letting other people dim our light, and why having emotional baggage doesn't mean anything other than that we're human.

Ep. 255: Africa Brooke on Not Performing
01:16:33

This week, it is my deep pleasure to bring you my interview with coach, speaker, and writer Africa Brooke. Africa was the very first person who came to mind when I thought up my Money, Sex, Freedom series because her work lives at the intersection of all three things.

In this interview, you'll hear us cover so many topics, including: letting go of performing your way through life (both in and out of the bedroom), acknowledging fear and speaking up anyway, why owning your personal power may look different than you think it does, what to do with your fear of success, healing through self-pleasure, moving beyond childhood sexual shame, and how a connection to your body can help you stand in your power in so many other ways.

It's Thanksgiving week here in the States which means everyone's talking about gratitude. But what if there's a dark side to gratitude?

There is, and in this week's episode, I'll tell you all about it AND how to make sure you're being grateful while still evolving and living your life by your own standards. You'll also hear a story about one of my worst Thanksgivings ever and what Ariana Grande's new song has to do with your life!

Ep. 219: Fear vs. Intuition and the power of a Social Media Sabbatical
34:16

This week, I'm diving into a long-asked-for topic: how to tell the difference between fear, intuition, and the voice of the inner critic.

You'll hear me talk about why we often miss our intuition at first, how to start listening for it, and why fear might end up being useful to us as we start raising our hands and saying yes to ourselves!

I'll also share some details about the current social media sabbatical that I'm on and what I learned after just a couple of days in!

32:21

How do you handle conflicting advice from all those smarty-pants influencers on the internet? And what do you do when trying to follow said advice ends up with you at the bottom of a tailspin of overwhelm, fatigue, and feelings of definitely-not-enoughness?

I've got you covered in this week's episode where I share how I'd love for you to approach managing this advice, why there's nothing wrong with you, and why success formulas often fall flat!

Oh, and you'll also hear me talk about: thrift store, tortilla soup, and wanting to make a million dollars. All bases are covered.

37:08

What do fake eyelashes and blisters and my quitting drinking have to do with your life? They're all examples of times when I've stopped saying yes to things that leave me feeling like shit. And where has that gotten me? To a lot of places. AND it's an ongoing journey.

So, let's figure out how to keep going, eh?

This week, I'm talking about what I want you to stop saying yes to. AND where you can start in making those shifts you're dreaming of. (Or how to find your ease and momentum if you're in the midst of a shift and are starting to get overwhelmed!)

You'll also get to hear the biggest mistake I see people making when they raise their hands and say yes to the people they want to be and what you can do about it.

I also share what to do when things aren't working, how to know when to quit, or when small adjustments should be made.

This week, I'm sharing the three things you *don't* know about my business and what they mean to you and the creative work you want to be doing in this world.

I also share my reasons for why I think you should start making those moves of yours today (yes! today!) as well as the big takeaway from a Seth Godin interview I heard years ago that I still use as a prayer to this day. Enjoy, enjoy, and if you have any lightbulb moments, I'd love to hear them!

This week, I'm talking about what to do after you go all in or have a big thing happen. I'm sharing about it in the context of my move, my morning person experiment, and my recent Inner Circle launch. All big things. All still happening. (Spoiler alert: things never really "end.")

58:08

Are you waiting to have the Next Great Idea to get moving on your creative dreams? Are you finding yourself trapped in the either/or when you really want to live in the shades of grey in between? Are you wondering if you're *really* ready to step into your RYHSY life? Then this episode is for you.

I break down:
+ how I let go of being held back by the fears of failure, success, and disruption
+ what saying yes really looks like
+ my own story of saying yes that led me to starting this podcast over four years ago (!!) - seriously, it all started with my saying a single sentence out loud
+ a different story of a time when I didn't say yes and someone else made my idea real
+ why inertia is the biggest enemy around to your creative work (and how the Inner Circle will help you move beyond that!)

Ep. 211: Are you the "right" kind of creative? (Oh, you KNOW I have thoughts!)
57:37

Ever wonder if you're the "right" kind of creative or if you're doing your creative endeavors the way you should?

Have you ever called yourself "not creative" just because you aren't a visual artist or a maker? Have you ever looked around at what everyone else is doing with their work and thought that they must surely know something you don't?

If you answered yes to any of the above, you are not alone! This week, I'm diving into the question of what it means to do creativity the "right" way - you KNOW I have thoughts - as well as what we all can learn from my experience being an imperfect podcaster, what I learned from a business planning class with Jenn Lee, and how what a 7th grade art teacher stuck with me for nearly 20 years.

Oh! And if you're wondering if the Inner Circle might be a good fit for you, I've got you covered there as well - applications open until 9/21!

That's what I'm talking about this week - all those sneaky ways fear shows up and holds us back from making the moves we really want to be making in our lives and in our work. If you consistently find yourself overwhelmed or taking on too much or lost in research or just wishing you had more time, this episode is for you!

Do you ever find yourself wondering any of these:

+ Why can't I create (or be as confident) as everyone I see online?

+ Why can't I just stay off social media?

+ Why am I so tired?

+ Why do I have so many doubts?

Guess what? YOU ARE NOT ALONE. And also: there is nothing wrong with you. Promise.

This week, I'm breaking down some of the most common questions I hear from people about their creative habits and where they think they need to change and am diving into why these questions consistently come up as well as some new ways you can approach them when they do.

There are no formulas for success. There are no absolute right answers. And I promise you this: someone else is asking themselves those very things you're asking yourself right now.

Can you slowly and gradually shift a habit or do you have to go all in? Is it possible to actually change something about yourself that you've believed to be true your whole life? How do you know when a change is necessary or when it's antithesis to the person you really are? And, then, if you are ready to try out the change, where do you even start?

These are just a few of the questions that come up around habit change and this week, I'm diving into my own shift in my habit around waking up in the morning. Yes, hand raisers, you heard that right: I am (on purpose!) waking up every morning at 6 am (begrudgingly) and am working on becoming a morning person.

Here's the full list in case you need a cheat sheet:

1. Start where you are.
2. Do the scrappiest version you can to get going.
3. If it works, it's good enough. (For now.)
4. Refine over time - you'll know when it's time to make shifts.
5. Shout your stuff from the rooftops. (Yes, more than you're comfortable with!)
6. Have high standards and own that.
7. Don't keep trudging down a self-created path that you don't love.
8. ...but don't quit too early either!
9. Relationships are EVERYTHING.
10. Pause to look at where you've been, even if you still want to climb farther!

Ep. 196: The Art of the Follow Through
44:55

Let's dive in: if you want to make those big ideas of yours happen, learning the art of following through on your big ideas is essential!

In this episode, I'm breaking things down into the basics that you need to get going and raise your hand and say yes to the big things keeping you up at night!

Want a cheat sheet? Here you go:

Your 5 Follow Through Guiding Principles:

1. Talk is cheap if it's not backed up by action.
2. Any action counts.
3. You're never going to have things completely figured out. Learn to embrace the "I don't know" and move forward anyway.
4. You know more than you realize. Go deeper.
5. It's up to you to find a force stronger than your fear.

And what to do about it:

1. Make a list of all those things you say you wanna do.
2. Star the 1-2 that feel like the most exciting.
3. Pause to consider the following: How would it feel to
a. never get around to making it happen?
b. see someone else doing it?
4. If you're still in, figure out the Start, commit to taking that step, and then DO IT.
5. Start taking really good care of yourself.

Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.
