Ask MomRN Show
00:52:00
Today we'll speak with Noga Leviner, Co-Founder and CEO of PicnicHealth, about all the ways PicnicHealth is helping to save time for busy parents. Consider this: For those diagnosed with a serious illness, it's not only the treatment itself that is so challenging, but also the huge time sink involved in collecting, organizing, and distributing mountains of medical records from dozens of specialists. Enter PicnicHealth... a master library of your personal health history that collects ALL of your medical records (not just a few scans or charts) and transforms them into a unified visual archive that is accurate, easy to understand, and rapidly distributed to every doctor that you use. It’s time to start thinking about those summer vacations – where to go, what to pack, who to go with. And many of you are probably considering taking your furry family member along for the trip, too. If you are one of the 30 million Americans who travel with pets each year, we’ve got some great travel and pet safety tips to make your trip as smooth as possible. Joining us from a pet friendly resort in St. Pete Beach, Florida to share his travel tips is Dan Schachner, Animal Planet Host and Referee of the popular Puppy Bowl. Speaking of travel, have you considered a trip to Mexico? If you're dreaming of a Mexican destination for your summer vacation, you'll want to tune in for tips from Sarah Gavin, Head of Communications at Expedia! We'll also be talking about a new campaign to learn CPR with help from the Bee Gees; plus, small business cyber security. Join MomRN and her expert guests each week for practical advice for raising a happy, healthy family.

Ask MomRN Show: Sarah Michelle Gellar on Pertussis, Diabetes, Cybersecurity Tips
00:31:00
Today we are continuing our 7th Anniversary Celebration with new guests and one of our all-time favorite interviews! Nearly 30 million Americans have diabetes, and about six million people use life-saving insulin to manage their diabetes. The disease is complex and often overwhelming, creating barriers that may prevent people with diabetes from enjoying the same opportunities as everyone else. Certified Diabetes Educator and Registered Dietician, Tami Ross joins us to talk about things people with diabetes can do to simplify their lives. While being held hostage through your phone or computer by a cyber attacker sounds like the plot of a movie, the reality is it’s happening every day to unsuspecting victims. People are being locked out of their devices—losing access to family photos, financial information and other files—by cybercriminals who are threatening to delete their data forever unless they pay a ransom. Cybercriminals are preying on people with these attacks in the places most of us spend the majority of our time: online and on our smartphones. Joining us to share details of the newly released Internet Security Threat Report is Kevin Haley is director of Symantec Security Response. In June 2013, actress Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) shared why it's important to her as a mom to protect kids against pertussis by asking family members & friends to be vaccinated. Her interview ranks as our most downloaded interview ever! Today we are replaying this interview as we continue to celebrate 7 years on BTR! Ask MomRN Show: Fad Diets, Genetic Screening, Diabetes, Cancer Info
00:43:00
Each year a new fad diet comes out...gluten-free, fat-free, sugar-free, carb-free...it seems to never end! Some people try them just to jump on the latest craze, while others hope they will solve their gastrointestinal (GI) problems. Unfortunately, fad diets often lead to misdiagnosis for many people as they try to treat unpleasant GI symptoms – they may even ignore their symptoms or be too embarrassed to bring them up with their doctor. What people may not know is that they could be living with an under-recognized condition called exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, or EPI. Dr. Roshini Raj returns to the Ask MomRN Show to teach us about EPI and the danger of fad diets. Dr. Roshini Raj is a gastroenterologist at NYU Medical Center/Tisch Hospital in New York City, a Today show contributor, a bethenny contributor, the Good Day NY Medical Correspondent, and the Medical Editor of Health Magazine. Celebrity chef Leticia Moreinos Schwartz is working with Merck on Desafiando La Diabetes: Logra Tus Metas, a program urging Hispanics with type 2 diabetes to know their A1C—average blood sugar level over the past 2 to 3 months—and to work with their doctor to develop a plan to set and attain their personal A1C goal. Chef Leticia is sharing simple ways people with type 2 diabetes can prepare healthy, traditional Hispanic dishes without sacrificing the flavor. Today's show also includes info on genetic screening, cancer, & more! Dietician LeeAnn Weintraub is here to share with fretting women everywhere how they can look bikini season in the eye with less distress and more refresh.

Ask MomRN Show - Family Travel & Fitness Challenge
00:46:00
Not all teaching for students is done in the classroom. The same goes for teachers. Not all of their continued learning happens behind a desk. Our teachers’ life lessons, travel and experiences affect and shape our children’s lives. With an unlimited budget, we could travel all over the world to learn about the pyramids, the Great Wall or the Eiffel Tower. But it’s not that easy for most families. So, what can we do to harness the learning gained from travel…whether abroad, or just across town or your home state? 2012 Washington, DC Teacher of the Year (and mother of NINE kids), Perea Brown-Blackmon, shares her top tips for making your family trips fun and even a little educational. My Fit Foods was founded by personal trainer Mario Mendias out of his apartment kitchen in 2006. He found that some of his clients were just not seeing the results from exercise alone and when he started to inquire about what they were eating, he found a big problem, their diet! So, he started cooking healthy balanced meals for his clients and the results were amazing. 80% of your results are from what you are actually putting into your body. He wanted to help his clients get the results they were after and thus My Fit Foods was born. Mario is here to tell us about the My Fit Foods 21 Day Challenge and how it can help you kick start a healthy lifestyle of eating right and getting fit.   Whether you are a brand new parent or have teenagers leaving the nest in a few short years, MomRN has advice, support, and encouragement to help you on your journey through parenthood. She's joining us today to share a new campaign that will help individuals attain their fitness goals while providing life-saving and life changing surgeries to disabled children.   When we think of housework, most of us think drudgery, but a surprising new survey shows being on top of household chores not only boosts the spirit, but can provide a boost in the romance department.  Your valentine may still like flowers and chocolates but could knocking out that daily to-do list actually help her get in the mood? To help us learn more about the survey results and share her thoughts on making marriage work, we are excited to welcome Annabelle Gurwitch, actress, comedian and author of “You Say Tomato, I Say Shut Up”.   Whether you are a brand new parent or have teenagers leaving the nest in a few short years, MomRN has advice, support, and encouragement to help you on your journey through parenthood. Ask MomRN Show - New Year's Resolutions for Your Family
00:15:00
Everyone knows how difficult keeping New Year’s resolutions are. We make them with the best of intentions (losing weight, eating healthier, being a better coworker), but often they fall to the wayside quickly into January. No doubt that our kids hear these heartfelt (at the time) resolutions. Maybe they even make some for themselves. It’s even more important to follow through on our goals.  Learn how to make resolutions – AND KEEP THEM – for the whole family! Dr. Christine Carter, sociologist and happiness expert, has teamed with Hampton Hotels to show families how to teach a valuable lesson to both children and ourselves this year. A sociologist and happiness expert at UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center, Christine Carter, Ph.D. is the author of RAISING HAPPINESS: 10 Simple Steps for More Joyful Kids and Happier Parents. She has appeared on the “Oprah Winfrey Show,” the “TODAY” show, the “Rachael Ray Morning Show,” “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” “CBS Sunday Morning,” “ABC World News with Diane Sawyer” and NPR. Whether you are a brand new parent or have teenagers leaving the nest in a few short years, MomRN has advice, support, and encouragement to help you on your journey through parenthood. Her expertise has helped thousands of parents as they strive to be the best parents they can be. Join MomRN and her expert guests each week for practical advice for raising a happy, healthy family.

Ask MomRN Show - Actors Corbin Bernsen & Christopher Knight
01:00:00
Actor Christopher Knight is best known for his role as Peter Brady in the beloved television series, The Brady Bunch, and more recently for his show, My Fair Brady, but what you may not know is Chris has an extensive background in technology and science. Chris returns to the Ask MomRN Show to share this year's hot tech gadgets that will make great holiday gifts for the tech lover in your life. Actor/Writer/Director Corbin Bernsen (25 Hill, Rust, Pysch) joins us to discuss his new movie, 3 Day Test, a fun-filled family comedy starring George Newbern (Father of the Bride, Father of the Bride Part II), Megyn Price (Rules of Engagement) and Taylor Spreitler (Days of our Lives). Martin Taylor hasn't the slightest clue what his wife does all day, who his teenage daughter is dating, or why his son only communicates with an electronic sign outside his bedroom door. Convinced the family needs to reconnect, Martin surprises his nest with a little experiment--by locking them in their own home with no power, no heat, no running water, and absolutely no contact with the world outside! He gets friction for the sudden holiday staycation, but when nosey neighbors, news crews, and even burglars butt in, the Taylors team up to prove they can make the most of Martin's wacky mission. All the while, a message of faith comes from an unlikely place to help them find the answers to a happy, loving family.
